  1. Surf Vision!

    Good Day,
Sharing with the community another theme that I created.
You will need a good set of game artwork for it to look it's best. I have included my platform image folder in a zip file that you can use to make sure everything looks right. I don't have every platform known to man, so the image selections may limited for hoarders but it is a start. I use the Unified Platform videos from EmuMovies.
Most views include the new 3D box models.
You can expect a small update once the next version of CTC is released for some of the wall views. They can be extremely time consuming with how they are currently created.
Please let me know if you come across any issues or broken items.
This has only been tested in 16:9 aspect in 4K using Big Box 13.0 and may not work with older versions.
    Hope you enjoy!

  2. Colorful - Dark & Coverbox TV Redux

For a long, long time I searched for the perfect Bigbox Theme to use with my TV.  Every time I found one I thought was pretty cool, there were just so many little things that didn't sit right with me.  Either it didn't have game descriptions in the platform menus, or the game descriptions they had were too small (I use Bigbox on my TV), or the platform views of the theme were unappealing.  Well, no longer!  I discovered what I thought was the absolute best combination of themes, Colorful - Dark by Viking for it's incredible platform wheel 2 system views, and Coverbox by Faeran for it's incredible Text game views (which have a unique look for almost every popular emulated system out there).  Luckily, both Viking and Faeran made their theme's community theme creator files publicly available for anyone to edit, so all my minor (and in some cases not so minor) annoyances were very possible to fix.  After months of on and off work, I'm very pleased to release my custom versions of both themes so everyone can enjoy them as I have.
At the end of the day, this is a series of relatively minor and moderate tweaks I made to two already fantastic Bigbox themes, and all of that credit goes to the original creators of those themes, Viking for Colorful - Dark, and Faeran for Coverbox.  Part of my hope in releasing this to the community is that they take notice and possibly implement some of my changes into the mainline releases of these themes in the future.
The optimal configuration for these themes in my opinion is Colorful's Platform Wheel 2 for platform selection and Coverbox for Text List with Details, with any system not covered using Colorful's Text LIst with Details.  That's the configuration this modification is aimed towards, but you can use any combination you wish.
This release includes a changelog of everything I've changed in both themes, down to the positioning of the elements X and Y positions and their Width and Height.  Since going through every change I made would be impossible in this description, Here's a list of the most significant ones.
    Main Changes
Platform Descriptions in Colorful's platform wheels have had their font increased and their sizes expanded.  This was to make the text more legible if playing on a TV, which I do exclusively.  If the font were bigger by default I may not have modified Colorful at all. Game Descriptions in Colorful's game wheels have had their font increased and their text boxes expanded.  This compliments the change from above.  Personally I prefer the Text list with details view for any system Coverbox doesn't cover, but the others are usable. Text Scrollers for Game Descriptions has been added to every platform theme in Coverbox that didn't already have one except for the Atari Lynx, Nintendo Virtual Boy and the Famicom Disk System. Each systems Text Scrollers have been given fonts that are related to that system in some way (I did reuse some of them though).  For instance, Sega Genesis uses the HUD font from Sonic the Hedgehog, Game Boy Advance uses the Gen 3 Pokemon font, etc. Coverbox Text Scrollers that were too small had their fonts increased.  The biggest beneficiary of this change was PSP, that font was TINY and impossible to read on a television.  This change was also made to the Wii and the Wii U Background elements have been erased and replaced with modifiable image placements to make room for text scrollers, which makes them editable for those looking to make their own changes. I have included a complete changelog documenting every change I made to both Colorful - Dark and Coverbox, as well as included the logos and fonts I found and created for use in this modification, both of which can also be downloaded here if you want to revert any of my changes or recreate them in some way.  If you like what you see, make sure to show your support to Viking and Faeran on their respective theme pages, they created two incredible Bigbox themes and are the ones that deserve most of the credit.  I hope you enjoy my changes!

  3. Vertical Vision!

Just wanted to share this vertical theme that I created for my cabinet.
There weren't a lot of vertical themes available and I have been messing around with this one for over a year now.
Quality artwork is a must. Some views have the new 3D box but the resolution is a bit lower than the regular art so play around with the different views.
I don't plan on changing anything but will update the file if I do! I haven't come across any issues, but if you find a bug or something not working right, please let me know.
*** This theme is only for 9:16 vertically oriented monitors. ***
    Hope you enjoy!

  4. Retrotastic [Theme Stream]

Retrotastic was built during a Theme Stream broadcast. If you are interested in creating themes, follow me on Twitch, or watch the videos later on YouTube.
A Catalog of past Theme Streams can be found on the forums here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/54760-retro-faerans-theme-stream-big-box-theme-creation/
This theme only works on version 10.15 and above due to its reliance on some new bindings!

    Retrotastic
I recreated my Retrotastic theme in the theme creator. This was an ambitious project, but one that was well worth it. It still has all the fun of the original theme, with over 150 platform specific backgrounds and a plethora of game specific backgrounds and graphics to play around with. This brings the theme up to a new, modern standard that includes many performance benefits. I also managed to tweak the views here and there to make the theme snappier. Please enjoy this new version, along with the COMMUNITY Theme Creator project files for you to play around with and create your own version of my theme.

  6. Simple Touch & Simple Desktop

I wanted to change the theme to a more Retro look in Version 4. See changelogs and last few screenshots. I will only be going forward with the two v4 version as it has been to much to keep up with all the versions. I will try to update most of the screenshots soon. I plan on adding vertical and coverflow views soon. I'll leave v3 online as they look quite a bit different. Looking back, I probably should have separated them as different themes

I needed this for a A-I-O Touch Screen PC I will be installing in a false wall soon. I'll be doing a home remodeling project soon and thought a touch screen jukebox in the wall would be a cool look. I found a great deal on a Lenovo 700 22ish touchscreen on ebay and have been setting it all up before I start the remodel. I wanted to create a BB theme with a similar look to the Jukebox (media center) software I put on the PC.

    * Simple Touch Vertical (vertical version) This one is more of a test version. It's made using 3:4 aspect ratio per request. I had to re-size some things and move a few things around a bit, but pretty much the same. I have nothing to test it with, so not sure how well it will look or work on a actual vertical screen. If you give this one a try, feedback would be awesome (especially some screenshots or a video).

  10. MEAGRE

This Big Box theme is designed to show more of a game's images than usually found in a given theme.  The name derives from my old MEAGRE interface.  Currently, there are only three views, the system menu, a vertical wheel platform view, and the games text list.
Please give any feedback you would like as I would love to improve on the theme over time.

  11. Retro Bedroom - xD Redux

I really liked the retro bedroom theme, but there were a couple small things that I wanted to change. Then I ended up making an altered version of the background and changed the entire theme setup quite a bit with stuff from my childhood. Hope you enjoy it! If you have any ideas on how to improve this let me know!!!
If anyone is interested in it, I may update this to be customizable where you can upload your own posters and such on the walls, currently only use the vertical scroll views, the others are not set up yet
Looking to update some more stuff in the near future and tweak some stuff, when I do I'll upload the new version.

Original Creator of bedroom theme Faeran was gracious enough to allow me to upload this so thank you!

  14. WoodPanels

WoodPanels has the old school retro feel of playing games on an old TV in a room with bad, green carpeting, but golden wooden paneled walls.  The video game console or platform appears above or beside the television to match that look and feel.  It is paired with a set of 8-bit fonts to complete the experience.
Designed for 16:9 screens on a 1080p monitor. Unique views for 47 platforms with game videos, game 3D/2D box art, and game cart images. Consoles are paired with one of five different TVs from the same decade they were released. "Wall View" for looking at game boxes on shelves is accompanied by the platform logo and image of the original console packaging. Trailer:

  15. Vertical Aspirations - A vertically oriented cabinet theme (Animated Marquee Mod Added)

VA 1.3 demo.mp4 The long wait is over.... Since version 12 of Launchbox has been released, and new marquee image priorities are now in place, I couldn't see any reason not to release the next version of Vertical Aspirations.

    Version 1.3
Removed the animated GIF joystick and added directional navigation bindings and png images to use in its place (joystick on screen now moves when you navigate the wheel). This should make the theme more responsive if/when BigBox has been opened for a long time.
Added Pinball game and platform views that are similar to the RetroFE frontend theme called CoinOps Arcade vs Pinball vs, etc, etc. There are two of these views that are identical except for the wheel spacing. This is helful if you use the docklets style of clear logos.
Added large vertical game and platform views that use a vertical curved wheel that disappears after a couple seconds of being stationary. Great for vertical game enthusiasts that want a vertical only experience.
Changed all the fullscreen background images to stretch (against my better judgement). This should make the 10x16 and 3x4 ratio crowd happy. Please note: the theme is still optimized for 9x16 ratio - videos will probably look funny stretched.
Added: Every single view (except the systems view) now has an invisible transparent overlay image. This image was introduced in the previous version but I believe it was missing in a few views. This image can be edited by the user to create an overlay to display their particular joystick, control panel, or any other label they would like to have displayed. This image is the top image in the z-order and basically covers the whole screen.
Games View Marquee Logic: Games view marquee area logic now works properly as of Launchbox Version 12. What this means for you? This means no more moving images around, and no more turning off the image priorities in box front image priorities settings (marquee image priorities were added in this version of Launchbox). Theme will look for a proper marquee image in \LaunchBox\Images\{Platform Name}\Arcade - Marquee and will fill (stretch) the image it finds into the designated marquee area. If no marquee image is found, a non-stretched clear logo will appear in the marquee area instead. Most marquees are close to the aspect ratio size of the theme's marquee area, so stretch will be minimal. In Launchbox versions prior to version 12, box art and other non marquee/logo associated images would appear in the marquee area if they were not turned off in image priorities. If you previously turned off box front image priorities in older versions of Launchbox, it is now safe to return them to default - in fact please do, as the theme now utilizes box front art that it previously couldn't due to this limitation that has been removed.
Platform View Marquee Logic: Platform view marquees function differently than Game Marquees within Launchbox. There is no actual platform marquee image category, and the platform banner images included in Launchbox have an odd shape that do not fit within Vertical Aspirations designated marquee area without being squished or stretched in an odd way. The oddly shaped, default platform banners also repopulate when you delete them from their folders which creates a problem with the way this theme works. Because of this, I have created several platform marquees that are stored in the \LaunchBox\Themes\Vertical Aspirations\Media\Platform Marquees folder that are used in the theme. If you want to change out the included platform marquees, you'll need to look for them here and not in the \LaunchBox\Images\Platforms\{Platform Name}\Banner folders. If you delete the included marquees from there, the platform clear logo will take it's place so there should always be something in the marquee area, it just won't be Launchbox banners. Thankfully, there are far fewer platforms than there are games, so adding these to the theme was trivial.
Additionally, I am including a 3x4 optimized version of the theme. The background had to be heavily modified so the videos can play in a (close to) correct ratio.
I'm including the Community Theme Creator files for both the regular 9:16 and 3:4 versions. I re-labeled and organized all the elements within the Community Theme Creator files to make it easier to open the theme and figure out what each item does. The 3:4 version of the theme is considered a lite version as it doesn't have all the individual platform views. It is what it is. The downloads are labeled CTC.

    INTRODUCTION
This theme was built for people who have vertically oriented monitors in their cabinets - 1080x1920. It is based off of the Bezel and Lay File how-to videos I found on Youtube by the user Chad Wedlake (https://youtu.be/NUTnWWlcL3A) and are used with his permission. The files he used are derivative of the VCabinet artworks by Antolin Aguirre ( http://www.vcabinet.es ).
When I started this theme, I was well into creating vertical bezels for use in various platforms with RetroArch. I found it a challenge to set up each platform in a vertical fashion. I'm not sure when, but it was at least a couple months back when I discovered the Community Theme Creator and started playing around with it a bit. Wow, is it ever easy to use. Particularly if you know how layers work in programs like Photoshop or GIMP. Anyways, I started with just importing a bezel I had created and then added the video behind the bezel. Added the marquee view for the arcade games that have marquees and just used clear logos for the ones that didn't. Worked out pretty good I thought so I kept going. Then I thought, how about a view for the Pinball FX, Future Pinball and Visual Pinball tables I have? Well now I have it to a point that I feel like it should be shared.
For best results, I suggest setting a hotkey within BigBox to allow you to scroll through the various platform and games views. Many popular console platforms have their own views, but all platforms will display just fine with the default wheel or text views. The special views for Pinball are full screen table video views that do not look good with regular console or arcade videos. This theme was not designed with second monitor support in mind for pinball backglass videos or other marquees.
This theme was not tested with Platform Category Views, Genre Views, Playlist Views, or any other non-platform oriented views, but I assume they should work OK as long as your media is set up for those views.
I do intend at some point to also release the vertical bezel files I've created for the various platforms. This theme and the bezel files work great together to add a more seamless transition between game and frontend.
You shouldn't need anything special to get the theme to work as long as you have good media files. The theme mostly requires a good set of clear logos, box art, and game cart/cd media. You will also need a good set of videos as well as vertically oriented Pinball videos if you want to use the pinball views.
I'll release updates as I refine the theme. If you discover any weird bugs or have reasonable requests, please let me know.
    CREDIT
I would like to thank Chad Wedlake for the use of his bezel template. @faeran for permission to use some of the xaml code from his excellent Vertigo Theme for the options views in the backend. @SonicFan53 for the clear platform images that the theme uses. And @y2guru for the excellent Community Theme Builder. I couldn't have done this without the Theme Builder. Incredible tool for theme building in BigBox! Thanks as always to @Jason Carr.
    INSTALLATION

In order to see the various games views for the different platforms, you'll need to change to each view. If you set a hotkey within Bigbox (Keyboard Mappings/Controller Mappings - Switch View) to change views, this makes it easy to change views without going into the settings each time.

    2022-01-08 19-01-42.mp4 Games Views

2022-01-08 19-05-17.mp4 See release notes at the bottom of this page (What's New in Version 1.3) for all the details. Basically this is a drop-in mod to add secondary marquee monitor support to the theme. You can roll with the default Launchbox marquee views with the theme or use these new views designed specifically for Vertical Aspirations. This is all possible now with version 12.7 of Launchbox/Bigbox and version 2.3 of the Community Theme Creator.
If you try this and run into any issues, please let me know.... This theme has a lot going on and I can't catch everything.....

  16. Starting Line - Driving Cabinet Theme (WIP)

After a bunch of requests from users on Reddit and BYOAC, I've decided to upload my (VERY WIP) driving cabinet theme: Starting Line
There's only one view - an in-cockpit view of a car.  Moving the wheel right and left selects the active game.
As I'm EXTREMELY busy with work commitments, I don't foresee a lot of requests / uploads, this theme is AS-IS.  I'm currently running 1080p.
If anyone would like to help me with this / work collaboratively I'd be happy to work with people to make this more advanced / get it over the finish line (no pun intended).

  19. Space Cadet

    (Update) I fixed some bugs
This is my first theme, Space Cadet! I do not own the rights to any media in these screenshots. I will eventually working on providing more color options in the future, but in the meantime enjoy 1.0 in red (dark)! Thank you!

Big shout out to @Juketsu for providing the base files for the Slipstream theme. Slipstream is a beautiful theme and layout❤️

  20. Dark Bounce

This theme uses a dark rock wall background with blue-ish white shadows. This one works great on larger gaming rigs and folks that have their gaming media stored on a NAS. The video below was made on my main rig with 22,000+ games and all the media and roms being stored on NAS using mapped drives, Launchbox was installed on mechanical HDD.
The video does much better showing the theme than the screenshots. (the bouncing and the slides)
I used my custom icons for genres, play modes, number of players, custom controllers, etc..
I designed this one mainly for Large Screens and TVs (16:9), but this time I created it in Stretch Mode in CTC. This is the first theme I have tried using the Stretch mode, so if you run into strange looking issues let me know, preferably with screenshots, I am not sure how to properly test the other screen ratios yet, but from I was able to do, the theme was looking decent on the different views in CTC.
This time I put a more focus on the Arcade (MAME) platform, using game specific Arcade Cabinets and the Arcade Controls (looks will depend on your artwork) as well as play modes specific to the Arcade platform. (the ones like 2-Player Alternating or 2-Player Simultaneous) if you use them.
My custom Genre Icons have grown to over 300+ now (includes the PS template to make more if you need them) and I have over 100 controller images in this theme.
The Platform audio I used was a male voice. I increased the volume a bit and added some reverb.
Video: (wall views in video are showing original version, version 2 is different-see changelog below)

    Installation:
Download, unzip, copy the folder "Dark Bounce" into your Launchbox "Themes" folder.
The Windows Media Player in Bigbox will work best with this theme
You can also set the theme up to show if the game can be played in Virtual Reality, Online, PvP, etc. if you want. Artwork is included and already in place. Instructions for setting up the 4-5 custom fields can be found on my "Game On" theme page. (https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/3256-game-on/). It's pretty simple.
Thanks goes out to @y2guru, @faeran for there awesome contributions to CTC/LB/BB work and videos. Also @viking for his great stuff as well as @RetroNi. Some of the logos and videos used from their contributions. And of course anyone else I may have un-intendedly forgot to mention.
Leave comments and suggestions and I'll see what I can do. Spring is here, so gonna be slowing down with this stuff. If I can keep away from it
-Enjoy & thanks for trying the theme!

  21. Arcade Floor

Arcade Floor Theme for BigBox 1.01
    by chinagreenelvis
Arcade Floor is designed for use and visibility on a traditional arcade cabinet CRT or television set in 4x3 but will stretch to any aspect ratio. It relies entirely on the text-based menu system and works well with Platform Categories views for those who take advantage of custom playlists and sub-lists for platforms.
Game fanart backgrounds will display in the games details view if they are enabled in the background priorities list in the LaunchBox settings.
To create your own background images for non-included platforms, a Photoshop file has been included in the Arcade Floor DIY Backgrounds ZIP file. Just place the background image of your choice into the platform folder layer and the vaporwave overlay will give it the right look. Exported images must go into two folders: Arcade Floor/Media/Platforms and Arcade Floor/Images/Platforms/Fanart.
Theme colors (purple and blue hues) are produced entirely by the background images, so if you want to create a whole new look, you can subsitute your own backgrounds by replacing those images. Deleting the images entirely will default each view to the images in the Aracdian/Media/Backgrounds folder.
In order to prevent audio from game videos from continuing to play when entering games details view or scrolling through the list, try setting the video playback engine in Big Box to Windows Media Player instead of VLC.
Most of Arcade Floor was made with the Community Theme Creator for BigBox 2.3 and is compatible with LaunchBox 12.9 as of this version.
    Get the CTC here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/2115-community-theme-creator-for-bigbox/
    ////////////////////
    1.01:
This version contains a modified (simplified) version of the Random Game Selector by G-rila (https://github.com/G-rila/BigBoxRGS). In any games menu, hold right in order to get a pop up item for randomly selecting a game. Pressing the select button in the pop-up will automatically begin a random game from your current playlist.

The CTC files for version 1.00 do not include the code for this plugin, but you get can get the DLL from 1.01 and re-add it to TextGamesView.xaml after publishing by following the instructions on GitHub. The secondary grid code for this theme is slightly different than the example provided:
    <Grid x:Name="RGSGrid" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="{Binding ElementName=Canvas, Path=ActualWidth}" Height="{Binding ElementName=Canvas, Path=ActualHeight}" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" Panel.ZIndex="1000" > <bbrgs:RGSv2_0 HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" ShowGameDetails="False" ShowGameNotes="False" CheckForUpdates="True"/> </Grid>

  22. Light

There were no themes I liked except part of one faeran made called Radiance so I took the game view from that and made a platform view to compliment it and that's all it is. It's very stripped-down.
It's made for me so there's a limited amount of platforms (it's popular console/handheld only) with no text lists or sound or videos and is ideally suited for 2D box art. If you want to make it work for you in some way, you might have to do some xml editing. I don't even know how to edit those myself - Consequently, it's not set up perfectly in the games view, text could be aligned better there for some platforms and better box art spacing but I don't plan to make any revisions of this. Hopefully there's no major problems.
The theme also matches my old Game & Watch stuff (although the game title isn't aligned well on that system because of all the different box sizes) and also my Game Boy overlays for Retroarch - Links here
Again, thanks to faeran and the Community Theme Creator. Attached some sample images.

  24. Retro Bedroom - [Theme Stream]

    Retro Bedroom
I create a brand new theme based around a childhood bedroom from the late 80s, early 90s. This is my take on the infamous bedroom theme. Like always, you can download both the Big Box theme files, along with the COMMUNITY Theme Creator files (which allows you to edit the theme to your liking using y2guru's COMMUNITY Theme Creator).
This theme includes everything to start you off reliving your childhood memories. Included are a batch of poster advertisements, and video advertisements for over 40 systems.
Come for the nostalgia, stay for the lava lamp.

    Instructions
Retro Bedroom - Theme.zip - BigBox theme. Place extracted folder in your LAUNCHBOX\Themes folder Retro Bedroom - COMMUNITY Project files.zip - Creator Project files. Place extracted folder in your COMMUNITY\My Theme Projects folder
This theme only works on version 10.15 and above due to its reliance on some new bindings!
