@wemr97dl My take is that is referring not to a specific "custom" xaml.  It means you take a copy/modified version of an XAML file you customized and make sure it is named the same throughout for for the view, borders, video, images relative to the platform you are adding.  

So for example, I have an arcade "all killer no filler" view. I duplicated the arcade.xaml (or whatever base xaml is closest to format you want) in each of the view folders and renamed that "Arcade All Killer No Filler.xaml" .  Thus, you have a 5 custom XAML files in each of the TextGamesView and the Wheel#GamesViews.  You just have to make sure you use the model XAML from each of those views as the go by.  You then have to name your images, videos and borders the same as whatever you gave for the XAML view and place those where it expects.  Depending on how much customization made to media, you may also have to alter the naming in the XAML. But for most part if follow model then it will take the XAML name and look for the same named media without modifying the XAML specifically (at least for the Arcade subfolder). 

So in the case of the Gaelco mod you did then you would have an "Arcade Gaelco.xaml" that you dupe from the existing Arcade.xaml in each view.  Then place the video, borders, and background in the appropriate folders within the theme (if arcade with the addon then will be \images\Theme\Addons\_Arcade\ for each media type, named exactly the same as XAML).

Is there a way to modify the wheel xml to have the wheel rounded and use the pointers from the regular unified theme? I love the refried aesthetic, but wanted to have the round wheel with a pointer. I was trying to combine the 2 xmls and figure it out but haven’t been having any luck. Not sure if anyone has done this or not though. 

Perfect theme. It shows everything I want to see when I'm navigating my games. Please keep updating this theme. Fantastic work.

Hello is there a way to add the scrolling description for games at the bottom in the game selection screens? Like in the Unified Redux theme?

Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to create Platform theme videos in unified refried style? Can't find in LB downloads and emumovies. I have 0 skills in video creation but i would give it a try, Or alternatively, some nice links to nice hyperspin like platform theme videos.

Platforms/playlists that are currently missing platform videos for me: Sega system 1, 2, 16, 18, 24, 32, x board, y board, model 1, Chihiro, Ringedge 2, Sega pc based, Gaelco pc based, Atari jaguar CD.

For us novice/amateur types, I'd highly recommend using MS PowerPoint for making theme videos. All you have to do is create a PPT and save it as a video. It takes some time to put it all together, but with a much easier learning curve.

Echo this.  I have a couple of other software packages for videos and was banging head on trying to get it to work for simple theme since it was not very intuitive (to me). Someone mentioned PowerPoint but couldn't find any examples. So I went about trying to replicate one of the Nintendo Unified Themes to see how close could get.  If not expecting super fancy controls, then works well. 

I have attached the PPT to give you an idea of how to work the animations for a test along with video it outputs (hadn't quite got the video slide in from left working like RH's).  Edit: This link to Youtube Video also helped me with this.

Need some help! Is anyone else having issues with their platform categories not using the theme settings - background images and videos? Mine seems to be stuck using the default view but Arcade and Console are working fine.

 

Is it possible to put static image instead of fading black screen for each of those arcade boards like Sega Chihiro, Namco System N2, etc. with no platform theme video to be found out there? I'm using "Wheel3GamesView".

Holy crap, I installed this theme on my new "console killer" build and it is literally perfect! Thank you so much for this.

I have one question...I have a platform called Quake Mods. I figured out I can pick the background I like and rename it for this platform and same with the video border. I noticed that you did a Doom Hacks & Mods, you didn't happen to do a Quake Hacks & Mods video border did you? If not would it be possible to get the template for the video backgrounds so I could wip one up?

I notice there is no "star raring" for hacks/modes/etc even if I add my own ratings. It looks like the theme is using community star ratings based on this line in the xaml...

<Binding Path="ActiveGame.CommunityStarRating" />

Is there a way to use community star ratings if available or if n/a use user/personal ratings?

You can edit the binding path to "ActiveGame.StarRating"

I tried to make these last videos myself but I'm not good enough...

Didn't hear back on this so I just made my own. Pretty happy with it...

So, I'm trying now to use the Genre & Collections addons and having some trouble. The  directions seem to indicate that the Genre Addons zip and Collections addons zips should be unzipped into the Unified Refried themes folder. This adds new folders in the images & views folders. Everything seems to go ok but when I boot into BB and go into a Genre or Collection playlist, it just shows the regular theme platform art for the given game, it's not using any of the addon assets. For instance, I have a Genre called Fighting Games so from the Genres addon I would expect to see this artwork...

Reading through the comments there is some conflicting info, it mentions unzipping the addons in the base LB/Themes folder and then when in a playlist, select that Theme but this doesn't work either I just get a black screen with the game artwork

Can somebody who has used these addons please comment on how these are to be setup and used?

Think I figured it out, had to change the genre xaml name to match my playlist. Also had to chg the view to wheel 1. It seams it only works with wheel 1 or text views.

Not sure what I do wrong, I've tried renaming all system back to default naming and even reset my bigbox settings file - but on the platform view it still shows all black background - no graphics loads.. On the right hand side is the correct but original graphics - but nothing else. I did not manually copy the theme into default though - I swap between the themes within BigBox with the 'change theme' function.

You need to download the platform videos, they are linked in the theme description at the top of the page.

Amazing theme, thank you! but I cannot seem to get a Platform view that has the videos in a box with the platform title above them, it is always a full screen video with detail - i've attached a picture as an example, but any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Set a key/button in the options for "switch view" and use that when in a view, most themes have more than one view, and you are simply on a different one.

Unfortunately they're all full screen video  I'm not sure what i'm missing as the games list view works perfectly
