Arcade Cabinets 2.0 Project View File This project is made possible by @Antny, @Kondorito, @Mr. RetroLust, @dssbob and @Orionsangel *IMPORTANT*: If you want to stay up to date of new packs and updates use the "Follow" button in the upper right corner. Any future updates will not be displayed in the "What's New" section. The aim of this project is a complete overhaul of the often used cabinet images (Arcade machines, Pinball, and Slots/Casino), including but not limited to: Higher resolution and quality versions of up to 2160 pixels vertically (Ultra HD)! All images have a transparent background! Higher accuracy of different regions and versions of cabinets All color corrected and optimized to get the most out of any image Many many new cabinets, previously missing from collections Reconstructed images, either entirely new photo realistic reconstructions or existing images which had previously missing parts added The possibilities of this project are endless, it will let frontends and arcade collections look much better as theme creators will be able to use the arcade cabinets category much more efficiently. Creators, Bloggers, Writers, Reviewers etc. will be able to use these images directly in their media and content enriching the community and history. Arcade games databases can be updated. Any creative process you can think of will be made much easier and look better. Please note that future Mame updates might change names of some roms, you might have to manually change the file name of the image in those particular cases, however when this project is eventually finished it will be uploaded completely to the launchbox game database so renaming them won't be necessary. So, follow this thread for any new updates! It will take a while before we finish the entire project but you will be able to download updates along the way An early impression of the project using the FutureState Neon Deluxe theme as an example how we can use these images. ______________________________________________________________________________ Credits and special thanks: @Antny let it be known!: without him this project would never be what it is, his years long collection of photo's is of great value to arcade history preservation, thanks buddy for everything you've done and do! *These are available through Emumovies Sync and have also been uploaded to the LaunchBox Database. This is a collection of 2868 3D PC Game boxes I have made. A games list is attached. Many of the triple A games and collections are covered to the best of my knowledge (Call of Duty, Tom Clancy's, Battlefield collections etc...) There are also a lot of games that may be from country's like Brazil or may not be well known or children's games but I made boxes for them anyway because who knows when someone somewhere might actually want that particular game so why not cover as much ground as possible. I used the highest resolution available and paid for the privilege however sometimes even at the highest resolution the covers may not be scanned in properly and that was all that was available. PC 3D BOX LIST GAMES COVERED 3D Box List PC .txt if a game you are looking for is not listed here try my Steam Covers that can be downloaded here: Also I include a tutorial showing how to make these boxes

@Jason Carr Hey...So I would first like to say that I did not experience this issue in 8.7,or any version previous to that...this only just started happening in 8.8,and has continued in 8.9. I have a bit of lag when switching through Platform Categories (Arcade,Consoles,Handhelds, etc.),but,I do not get this lag while browsing Platforms (Atari 2600,Atari 5200,etc.). The amount of lag seems to have something to do with the amount of Platforms that are in that category. This is only a guess, but, looking at the behavior,it looks to be the most probable reason for it. When I go to Arcade (which I have roughly 30 Platforms/Playlists),it loads up in about 2 seconds...when I go to Collections (which I have about 270 Playlists),it loads up in about 8 seconds....when I go to Pinball (which has only 5 Platforms),it loads up almost instantly. I have tried multiple themes, and they all show the same lag in the Platform Category View, but not in the Platform View. I did reinstall 8.7,and it did not have the problem anymore, but,I switched back to 8.9 because my platforms were all messed up when I rolled back,I assume due to all of the changes made between the two versions. I also updated windows, and my graphics drivers are up to date.I have not tried the latest beta. It is run off a cabinet. No Firewall,No AntiVirus,No Adware Blocker....I don't even use the web browser on that PC. If you need more info,I will be happy to provide it,Thanks. PC Specs: Intel i3 4350 / 16gb ram / GeForce 1050GT / Windows 7 Pro

Yeah i know, was just making sure, and that by saying external he didn't actually mean a NAS.
  9. 1 point
yeah but he said he was looking for an external drive enclosure not a NAS system.
  10. 1 point
Just bear in mind the box that @DOS76 recommended is USB3 only, it's not a "proper" NAS as such. So it will need to be connected to a powered on PC at all times in order to have access to it.

Forgot to add it isn't freeware either but does have a free 30 day trial I believe.

Just to add that the pool only creates a single folder on each drive and anything outside of that folder isn't in the pool so you can also use the drive like a regular drive as well part of the pool.

I use a software solution called StableBit Drivepool that makes a virtual drive that shows all your drives as one and has options for file duplication at different levels although I only use 2 copies. The program leaves all drives in NTFS allowing you to use them in any computer and if one dies you just pop in a new drive and it will check the pool for duplication and recreate all the missing files on the new disk it also features read stripping and a bunch of other stuff. I'm terrified of Raid myself and fear if something happened and you lose your whole array.

No problem. I think MAME must have changed the rom name for Tecmo Soccer recently. I have a complete .201 non-merged set and just checked the .202 and it is twsoc96. I searched a few rom sites and they all had it listed as tws96 just like the link you had. Here is a screenshot of MAME .202. Maybe just add a note that depending on someone's romset, they may need to manually rename that image.

I use these (I have 4 of them) but they don't support Raid although the company does have a different model that does do Raid https://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-ProBox-HF2-SU3S2-SATA-Enclosure/dp/B003X26VV4

This is sorta my thinking but for JP exclusive I count them all. Lots of translations go up on romhacking.net all the time so I want to have a complete collection of JP games even if I can't play them at this time.

This is great I love sets like this. It's been a while since I've updated MAME and this time I went non-merged instead of updating to use this. I noticed this is totally new and not an update of the original so I ran the original done by badmouth, removed the few games that use CHDs then coppied the new set over it. I went from 660-odd ROMS to 879 ROMs, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there wasn't very many dupes

Very cool and great project! I actually use the game title screen shot as my 3d box and the cabinet as my cart image in the Unified theme. i think there are two naming errors. Ragnagard/Shin-Oh-Ken rom name is ragnagrd but the cabinet file is listed as ragngard and Tecmo World Soccer '96 rom is twsoc96 but the cabinet file is listed as tws96.

From the libretro forums: Load any atari800 or 5200 with Atari800 3.1.0 core. does not matter if your game does not work, we just need to be able to enter the menu. when game is loaded, press F1 (this is quick-menu, just cancel or press F1 again or whichever is your quickmenu hotkey) - this will show you Atari800 menu(use joystick/gamepad to navigate. On Xbox 360 controller. button B is OK while Y is back. if nothing is working, go to quick menu-Controls and choose ATARI Joystick for User 1 Device Type While im Menu, goto Emulator Configuration -> System ROM Settings then Find ROM images in a directory Locate your atari5200 and atari800 bios roms. these roms have to be uncompressed. -Atari400/800 - atariosb.rom -XL/XE - atarixl.rom -Basic - ataribas.rom -5200 - 5200.rom Once rom folders are set, press SPACEBAR to save location. 5.go back to Emulator Settings and then choose Save Configuration file. goto quick menu and close content. By this time, you can now play games. do note that the games has to be extracted and uncompressed too. You can use Load Content method in Retroarch. if you load a compressed rom, your game will not play and you are stuck in Self Test mode. When you do load a game, and see only black screen, just press Enter or OK on your gamepad.

I don't know if there are threads on this topic but I just found this fix after "upgrading" to Windows 10 on my laptop. The first thing I noticed after upgrading and firing up Retroarch I noticed the "Guide" button on my controller (the Logitech button on a Logitech controller) no longer brought up the Retroarch quick menu. After searching around a bit there is a solution posted over on the RA forums about some setting in the GameDVR app but I don't have and don't want that app. I found another fix on a Steam forum thread with a simpler solution than installing some app just to get back the functionality of the button. Anyways here is the fix that should work for Xbox and Logitech controller and others. Go to the device manager to Xbox 360 peripherals. Right click and select properties. Go to the driver tab and click update driver, click browse my computer for driver software. Then select "Let me pick from a list". You should now see 2 drivers listed pick the one marked [2009-040-08], should be the bottom one. Reboot system if needed.

I saw a frontend with a scrapper for google images, something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNrzN4dnYKo It could be an alternative to when gamesdb is down. For notes wikipedia is more than enough.
