Good choice. It has to have some of the most beautiful, creative and epic bosses out of any game I have played or seen. That one that is a giant head on the screen is absolutely jaw-dropping.

This is a guide on how to import the Flashpoint flash games collection into Launchbox the proper way - each game is listed with image and metadata, and they are working with use of the required redirector and web server. 10015 games with the latest version: Flashpoint is an ongoing flash games archival and preservation project masterminded by BlueMaxima. You can read all about the history and development of it here: https://medium.com/@bluemaximax011/how-we-saved-flashs-gaming-legacy-and-started-a-web-game-preservation-revolution-51c2e5098209 And here: https://blog.usejournal.com/adobe-flashs-gaming-legacy-thousands-upon-thousands-of-titles-and-my-efforts-to-save-it-58c14811558a Guide to importing the Flashpoint flash games library into Launchbox 1. Download the latest version of the Flashpoint Ultimate package (version 5.3 at the time of writing - 57.6GB) from here: http://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/ 2. Extract the contents of the zip to a folder; it should look something like this: 3. Now test the Flashpoint app to make sure that everything is working. The collection comes with its own game browser; they used to use Launchbox but moved to a more stripped down and modified browser. When you launch a game via the browser, it should start the web server and redirector. Most games (not all!) require these processes to be running, otherwise the game will not work. 4. Now decide where you are going to store the games and the media. I stored my games on a NAS, with the media stored in the Launchbox folder on my local drive. 5. Transfer the relevant files from the Flashpoint download to your Launchbox - the data files (XMLs, located in Arcade/Data/Platforms in the Flashpoint collection, and in Launchbox/Data/Platforms in Launchbox) and the image files. 6. Edit the Flash games XML files if necessary - make sure that the "ApplicationPath" which points to the Flash.exe is correct; if not, then you can do a "find & replace". The CommandLine entry refers to the game itself, and shouldn't need to be changed. 7. Download this batch file which must be run before running the games from Launchbox: http://www.mediafire.com/file/g3zqbztdruczgmd/run_without_LB.bat/file This file runs the web server and redirector that come with the Flashpoint library, but without starting Launchbox as well. Launchbox does not currently allow you to add an "additional app" for a platform, and so using this batch file is the easiest way I have found to do it. I also tried to follow user @syntax_X's instructions (see below), but they are fairly complicated and after going through them it didn't work for me: 8. Run the batch file, start up Launchbox and enjoy the flash games!

Bigbox 1080p Retro Intro Intros have been integrated as of 7.5. You can download THIS intro under downloads then "Launchbox/Bigbox Official Media " and "Bigbox 1080p Retro Intro" To get this working. Simply download the intro, rename it to startup.mp4 the drop it into your ...\Launchbox\Videos\ folder. Then, in bigbox, navigate to options>General and set a startup delay/turn off bigbox logo on start. Good Afternoon Folks, I have embarked upon an interesting and hopefully rewarding project. I'm creating lists (via Google sheets) that compile the best games by console. I've included a link to my first list - The Best Games on Nintendo Home Consoles Be kind - this is a work in progress - and is much more time-consuming, eye-straining, and fatiguing than it may appear to be. Any suggestions or corrections would be greatly appreciated. In the spreadsheet, you will find the primary sheet that includes all major Nintendo home consoles (NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U). Each console is followed by a list of games and each game is accompanied by a number. The number refers to the amount of times each game was listed on a "best" of list of games on the internet (for more detail - the other sheets contain all the sources I used to compile the lists). I also used various import and hidden gem lists to cast a wider net. *EDIT* I double-counted some mentions if they came from sites that aggregated reviews or had polls. This is NOT A LIST of the best games in any type of order aside from of # of mentions. Therefore, the top games may not necessarily be the very best in the order presented, but one can assume the top 10, 20, 50, or 100 is a pretty solid list to create your own "best of" playlists. There are a few ways to use the data: 1) At the top of each list is a number indicating the total # of games released for each system. Underneath each system is listed the number of games that would fit into the top 10%, 20%, or 25% for that system. Simply refer to the "A" column to create a list based on these percentages. or 2) I've roughly color-coded the top 20 (yellow=gold), top 50 (grey=silver), and top 100 (orange=brown). The numbers don't match up exactly because many games were often tied for the same amount of mentions. As this list is ultimately subjective, feel free to move up or down any games based on your own experiences. Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f_xtOy_Ksv9Q_Rp99eoR6y5ku7HesM9o2dC0n_5VNZ0/edit?usp=sharing Thoughts, opinions, corrections, or suggestions much appreciated. Next - Sony Home consoles, then Sega home consoles, then handhelds, then ?

Neon Deluxe Startup Theme View File Note: This thread will not be pushed to the front in the "whats new" section, if you want notifications for future updates to this file be sure to follow this page by using the follow button in the upper right corner. A startup theme to accompany the Futurestate Neon Deluxe theme I haven't touched the shutdown theme file as I don't use shutdowns. 1. This theme does not use the backgrounds like usually but one static image stylized to a neon lit brick wall (in 4K quality btw). 2. The left side has been bound to "Box3DImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list 3. The right side has been bound to "Cart3DImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list, I've set it to this for use in the above bigbox theme as well: 4. In the center below it's been bound to "CartFrontImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list. Unpack the folder in: LAUNCHBOX\StartupThemes, go to startup settings and choose the title of this theme. If you like to stare longer to the startup screen, simply delay it to 5 seconds in the launchbox and/or bigbox settings. Thanks @Retro808 for the inspiration of your startup theme Submitter Mr. RetroLust Submitted 01/20/2019 Category Startup Themes

Could it be that VLC got currupted somehow? Might be worth deleting the VLC folder and letting Launchbox recreate it and see if the issue remains.
  20. 1 point
I actually agree with that but the tilt would have to be only slight because if it was too dramatic it would feel awkward and the outside knuckle of the thumb would hit/rub/bump the body of the controller a bit which might be annoying as one would not be accustomed to it.

Looks fantastic. I do not see how it could be any better besides possibly making the controller slightly wider than normal so the right analogue stick is not so close to the x-button because if someone had big hands and/or fat fingers they may be too close. Though if you were careful I do not think they are too close.

Don't want to celebrate just yet, but I switched the video engine to Windows Media Player and the CPU usage went down by a lot. I've ran like 15 games and no issues yet. Edit: I'm actually pretty confident something with VLC is giving me high CPU usage. I switched back to VLC and immediately BigBox's CPU usage increases to 90%. Changed it back to Media Player and the CPU drops to 10%. Is there any way for me to update the bundled VLC player or something?

Yeah Deathsmiles is great though it's a tad on the easy side until you get to the last stage. One game I forgot on my list is Harmful Park for the Playstation, that game is so good. It is expensive but if people didn't pay those prices then they wouldn't be sold at those prices and it's one of those games that get those prices because it is just that good. Now I am not saying it is worth the price of admission but it is worth quite a bit. I keep thinking of selling my copy but then I always decide against it, I have had my copy since it came out so there will be no selling it now.

the set was under 20 and they work so I can't complain much they are more tranlucent in reality then you can tell from the pic and you can see the inards of the controller

That website does in fact use paypal. I know what you are saying though. I will be glad to sign your petition. There you go brother. You can thank me later by buying me one when they come out as a result of my awesome work there. Haha, If I did not know what the Mattel Hyperscan's controllers look like I would guess they were for that.

Okay, I have not seen that one before. I will have to give it a go. Well, if you ever find yourself visiting Australia, look me up. We can play a game of Granada together and then afterwards be two grown arse men comfortable enough with their heterosexuality to hold each and cry uncontrollably like two fat women on an Oprah weight loss episode. Then we can eat comfort food like chocolate ice-cream and reminisce about the good 'ol days. Also, @Jason Carr regardless of how busy you are stop just posting on beta testing threads like a big boss man and step down in the trenches with us commons to tells us what your favorite shmup might be.

Well to be fair I cried back then not now but I still love the song haha but I know what you mean, I can still smell fresh kenner action figures when thinking about star wars, chemical wonders! Ive found the title, not sure now if it was on dreamcast though, edit: it was ps1: Gunbare! Game Tengoku: The Game Paradise 2 And this one seems interesting as well: harmful park Lust sleep now, talk soon! Zzzzzzz

Twinkle Star Sprites was also on the Dreamcast. Yeah I am not sure what one you are talking about but when you find it and say it I will think 'ahhh, that is it!' Man, there is no shame in crying like a baby to nostalgia. I am a sucker for it. Sometimes I smell a certain plastic smell and it takes me back to the smell of opening a He-Man action figure in the 80s and it hits me like a ton of bricks. I have to be careful because if I get into an 80s YouTube binge of old commercials and stuff I will sit there sobbing like my mother has just died. The soundtrack to Granada really is a thing of beauty and does conjure emotions in me also, you seriously are not the only one my friend.
  33. 1 point
Nope twinkle star sprites was for the neo geo right? The game I mean was also in the arcades and on the dreamcast or saturn, but I cant seems to find the name, i'll look it up tomorrow, it looks amazing not sure if it is though. Loved your review of Granada! I cried (I am old enough now not be be ashamed, I think) when I first heared that emotional song came up, its the piano part in the credits or when game over, nr. 11 if im not mistaken. Hahaha

Also, I have a little rant pertaining to this game. Though it is not about the game per-se, but about idiots who sell physical copies of it. MUSHA is an unfortunate example of a game that is not truly rare but goes for rare prices. A rare game at any one given point would not have multiple copies listed on eBay, but MUSHA does! I think it is just one of those games that has snowballed a slow hype train over time and prices have been driven up like media circumstance elevated The Beatles to a status far higher than they actually were at. There are always copies of the games for sale somewhere so it is not rare, but everyone puts the word 'rare' in the listing title. That is just something that annoys me. Haha, yeah they sure were designed to drink those quarters down like a camel in the desert. After my house renovations are done I want to sit down and focus on DoDonPachi like a madman to see if I can beat the game in one credit. It will be a good challenge to focus on. That is seriously the best description of that game. It was like it should not have looked like that but did, and it was one of the contributing factors in why it was so good. Granada is my 17th favorite Mega Drive game of all time. Take a look at number 17 here. I think next to Capcom Cave might have to be my favorite game publishers, they really did make some amazing stuff! You have good tastes.

I played a lot of shmups on the snes back in the day but still have to play so many, one of my favs I can come up with out of my head where: Axelay (by god this was digital LSD) Any parodius game (love cute-em-ups!) Does Granada count? On the Megadrive, still my favorite soundtrack. Of course the raiden and gradius, salamander and all its 1000 names series. I am really looking foreward to play a game (I bet you know which one I mean) which is a japanese cute-em-up style game where you fly over japanese arcades and stuff, this game was the last drop for me to go into launchbox basically after seeing it on that Iron Jesus dudes channel, have to play it still, its on the dreamcast as well if I recall correctly. Cave made some amazing games as well, still have to play em all, to busy creating still.

I used to play 1942 in this small corner store after school when I was a yungun so it is some what nostalgic to me also. game was probably 8 or 9 years old by then probably why a run down old store could afford it

You probably already saw this then. It is the only one I can find. The cord needs mending however. Would you be confident in doing so yourself or taking it to someone you know? The seller calls it rare, which everyone does on eBay in order to try and sell things but in this case I would say that controller does seem pretty rare. If the cord was not buggered I would have been all over that like a fly on a turd. It is the only controller I have seen with a 6 button layout on the face accompanied with analogue sticks, it might be the holy-grail of sexy-time-controllers despite any potential flaws it may have. EDIT: Hold on! I found some pre-owned for $55 with international wide shipping (I went through the checkout to see and it looks like you can get shipping to where I am for about $9: here. They say We hand-pick all of our pre-owned products in order to ensure their condition is in the best possible state and knowing Japanese kids or people in general pre-owned should mean perfect condition. It looks like they have one black one left in stock. Which one of us is going to pull the trigger on it? It is like a wild-west stand off. Probably not, but I like to dramatize things.

I am running BigBox from Kodi, but I tested it just by itself, same problem. All emulators cause this problem. Start and shutdown screens are disabled. I'm confident its nothing to do with the cache as leaving it running causes no performance issues, even after 30min. The problem only appears when returning from playing a game. Pretty sure safe mode won't work since it uses generic graphics drivers.

Beta 2 is out with a bunch of random crap™: - Improvement: New option to "Hide Auto-Generated Playlists from Playlist View" under the Big Box View settings. This new setting is on by default and will hide all the auto-generated nested playlists from the playlists view. - Improvement: New options to "Hide Mouse Cursor on Startup Screens" are available in the Game Startup settings of both LaunchBox and Big Box. These routines were causing issues on some rare systems, so they can now be disabled. - Improvement: A shortcut key combination is now available for "Select Random Game" in LaunchBox: Ctrl+Alt+Q - Improvement: New key and controller button mappings are available in Big Box for Lock/Unlock. This will allow you to lock or unlock Big Box without having to go all the way out to the System menu. - Improvement: Games can now be marked as completed or incomplete in Big Box via the game details menu. This new game details menu item can also be hidden in the Game Menu options. - Improvement: Big Box now has options to allow doing a bunch more things while locked: setting star ratings, opening game folders, opening game image folders, opening emulators, favoriting games, hiding games, marking games as broken, and marking games as completed. All options are available in the Security section of the Big Box options. - Fixed: In the LaunchBox list view, pressing a letter key to jump to a game in the list did not put keyboard focus on the newly selected item, so using the arrow keys afterwards would jump back to the previous location

Hi all, Here is a collection of many hours of work of collecting and creating metadata, images, manuals, and vidoes from various sources for the Atari 7800 system. Feel free to use and distribute our add this content to the Launchbox Database. Most of it was from other sources (THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE VARIOUS PROJECTS IN THE PAST THAT I WAS ABLE TO PULL STUFF FROM!) but the missing stuff I went ahead and made myself to get it as complete as I was able to get it. You should be able to just drop these in your Launchbox install and be good to. Public Domain Homebrew roms are provided with this torrent but NO commercial games. This is for your convenience. Notes on this, for some boxes of some of the homebrew stuff I used cart fronts and manual front covers. So if that bothers you, just a heads up! It bothered me more having nothing, and I thought it looked nice. If you see missing content you can provide or have higher quality images, videos, etc. PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I will gladly use them on the next update. Enjoy! Hopefully this will save people a lot of time. Figured If I am doing it for myself I might as well see if others would like using it. - Hubz Atari 7800 Launchbox V1.0.torrent
