  1. So we decided to bite the bullet and make this the big 12.0 release. Therefore, this new beta is now called 12.0-beta-1. The big change for this beta is that we've introduced a new dark theme for all of the popup dialogs in LaunchBox, and premium users can now customize all popup dialog colors: Colors can all be customized under Tools > Options > Visuals > Dialog Theme. Lastly, FYI, there are still a few dialogs that have yet to be upgraded from the old Windows Forms approach to WPF, such as Add/Edit Additional Apps, etc. We're currently working on getting these converted over to WPF so that they can take advantage of the new themes.

This is a collection of 13 N64 box arts released by Nintendo themselves. These are the highest quality these boxes have ever been. These were released in lieu of the N64 online app for the Switch. Source: https://twitter.com/AndreSegers/status/1441266976966397952 Also, there's never been an official western box for Sin & Punishment until this. Thanks Nintendo! Included are the original JFIF files and the ones I converted to JPG format.

  3. Sorry for the delay here, guys. I've had my head down in the desktop app for a bit, but I'm headed back to Android development next week, back to working on the next major release. No betas have been released since the last official release (largely because I'm working on some larger features). I'll look into Dreamcast here soon to see if I can replicate any issues. I'll add that to my list of emulators to look into. That might be one of those problematic emulators though that doesn't properly work with frontends, if my shaky memory is correct. Regardless, I'll check to confirm. You can delete games, yes. There's no automatic duplicate scanning currently, though. How did you overcome them? Thanks, yup, all that is on the list here.

  4. Greetings, I have a lifetime supporter license on EmuMovies and an expired license on LaunchBox. I tried to download HQ media for a MAME set and its taking forever. I did a speed test on LaunchBox v9.1 and EmuMovies Sync v2.53. Theres a big difference in speeds. For example, I tested "Mushihime-Sama Futari Black Label: Another Ver" HQ video. Through the task manager, I can observe that the download speed on launchbox is 2 Mbps and on EmuMovies Sync it reached 40 Mbps (my ISP speed). Is there a fix in later versions or a workaround for this issue without doing it manually? The only reason I bought a Lifetime Supporter license on emumovies was to take advantage of the speed. I read on launchbox front page both were partners, so this shouldn't be an issue. Thanks

  5. Usually rather discreet about my work in the community, I have just put an end to a Zelda Ultima project which no longer has a simple playlist but the first completely independent big box dedicated to Zelda. Anothers New features for this 1.1 Version: * New "home" and pre Launch view. reorganizations, and redesign of icons. * New quick launch bar "Back to the adventures" *Added The Timeline SAGA!! *Added Fan game (solarus , parallel worlds) with the dedicased thème and icons *Short films , demo playable (ocarina remake projects) in the "hidden chest section" *News clip with a selection to the best tracks in the "hey listen section" *We gain in flexibility and speed !! (because less media) I actually produce a lot of 1 or 2 collections in playlist format every month, but on the whole big box it was a pleasure to be able to quietly display all my media! If I show it to you, it is because I have a project to share it within a few months in the community since I planned to do 5 in this format. Next ? The Resident Evil Saga :

  10. @JoeViking245 😍 THANK YOU! That's exactly how I imagined it, now my MAME setup will be updated, and I just need to tell LB "do an update". Wonderful! Thank you very much for the help, the script is now in my dependencies folder for future updates, never copy it again by hand.

  12. Would do the same as FauxVert does, set the Width equal to the screen height, and vice versa. Then set the text render transform to rotate it. I doubt we have a startup theme that does this though.

  13. Ya, LB won't do that for you. But that's OK since there isn't really a ton of MAME chd's that A) do work, and B) are worth playing. But that's just me. Let's try this: Folder "a" - This is your "Trimmed" folder that holds your personalized special collection of .zip files. Folder "b" - This is where you've downloaded every MAME chd possible. This contains subfolders with the exact same name as it's corresponding zip file. Inside each subfolder contains the chd file for that game Folder "c" - This is where you want to copy ONLY the subfolders (and their contents) in "c" that have a matching zip file (i.e. same name) in "a". @echo off set sourceZIPs=d:\temp1\a set sourceCDHs=d:\temp1\b set destCHDs=d:\temp1\c for %%F in ("%sourceZIPs%\*.zip") do ( if exist "%sourceCDHs%\%%~nF" ( xcopy "%sourceCDHs%\%%~nF" "%destCHDs%\%%~nF" /e /i ) ) pause Just "set" the 3 respective folders to match yours. If you're copying the chd folders to the same location as the .zip files, just set the path_to 'a' and 'c' to the same location. chd's are large files so it will take a while. I added "pause" at the end so you'll know it's done when it says "Press any key to continue...". You could put a letter in front of "*.zip" just to do a few at a time. For example to do just the ones that start with "B": for %%F in ("%sourceZIPs%\b*.zip") do ( Batch file broken down: For all the files in the Folder "a" that have a .zip extension If Folder "b" contains a subfolder with the exact same name as the file (minus extension) in "a" Copy THAT subfolder and it contents to Folder "c"

  16. I read in another post somewhere on the forum that Launchbox for Linux will be based on Launchbox for Android. My understanding is that they're all .NET. The Android version uses Xamarin on Android, with eventual plans to move to MAUI once it's stable. The Android version doesn't have deep dependencies on a particular view library (compared to the Windows one which is deeply integrated with WPF), which makes it easier to port that version to other platforms. Core code is shared across all of them.

  19. I'll take wine support for now though. Looking forward to seeing if/how well it will get ran on Steam Deck. The Steam Deck's OS is based on Arch which is a rolling release distro. What this means is it gets the latest updates faster than things like Ubuntu. This may amount to nothing but it will probably help in getting this running well in WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator). More importantly, Arch has access to the AUR. This will make installing Launchbox SO MUCH EASIER. Someone will probably make a launchbox-steam-deck that will have it configured pretty perfectly I imagine. One command and it's installed. If the developers see enough demand in that market, then they will happily make a more native implementation, as they have said before. 🙂

  20. hehehe.. You ever try something several times.... You swear to god allmighty that it's NOT there.. drive yourself nuts and you can't get it to work. I swear I tried no less than 5 times since yesterday... Worked on a PowerShell script to compare the files in the arcade folder and remove the ones that matched the same ones in the NeoGeo folder... Got that working then this.... My brain didn't see the Arcade listing in that drop down.. UGH.... Talk about feeling like a dummy lol... THANK YOU hahahahaha

Ok, here is version 2 of my Retro Console Theme. This is a MASSIVE overhaul and Includes ANIMATIONS. Thanks to @y2guru and his unending support and development of the 'Community Theme Creator', which now offers an animation tool, I was able to completely rebuild this theme and make it the way I originally intended. Thank You as always my man! * Language issues have been fixed. Should work now! 5-1-2020 The original theme without animations can be found here: Retro Console Version 1 Pretty much every single view has been redone with at least more flare and details, but some of them are totally re-imagined. I have also added several new views and many more platform specific views. All with animations, subtle but informative (hopefully). One of the game views that has a smaller monitor window on the right side of the screen now plays a video in a loop of the matching consoles original startup or boot screen. Not all are included as I have not been able to find them on YouTube. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on where to look for more, would be very helpful! NEW: Playmode Icons - All custom and added all over the theme. NEW: I made a new view that is intended for use with newer consoles like PS3 and XBOX360. Looks good but does not require as much artwork since there is not much available yet. NEW: New version available, "Retro Console Theme Anim V2-center videos.zip". This version is designed to let users select a platform video set other than the Nostalgia set that I have been using. It is much better for center aligned videos. ALSO NEW are several controller button packs that can be swapped out to match your setup. These include 4 buttons each and are color coded throughout the theme: GREEN = Select RED = Back Blue = Search Yellow = Game info screen To use these you should just download the pack you want and drop it in the following folder: ?\LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Theme Anim V2\Media\buttons\. Make sure to overwrite the existing ones. controller buttons - arcade.zip: This is a set of generic arcade buttons that can be used for any setup. Just colored and round. controller buttons - numbered.zip: This is a set of numbered controller buttons (1 - 4) for controllers that have numbered buttons. controller buttons - ps3.zip: This is a set of PlayStation controller buttons controller buttons - xbox.zip: This is a set of Microsoft XBOX controller buttons controller buttons - SN30 Pro: This is a set of black buttons with white lettering, glossy I will gladly take any requests for additional controller buttons as long as they don't require changing the theme. (max of 4 buttons in a pack) ALSO: @Wanderer189 has made a huge contribution to this theme in the form of several downloadable add-on packs full of clear logos for each platform. These include literally thousands of logos made for each Genre, Playmode, ETC. This is an amazing thing and I thank you for your hard work Wanderer. You are awesome. If you would like to get these logos for your setup they can be found here: And yet another great contribution from our community: @kidshoalin has created several missing logos to go with your setup. All credit goes to him. Thank you so much for the contribution! INSTALL: First - Download the file: Arcade Defualt Clear Logos.zip, unzip it and then follow below instructions... place clear logos in the Retro-Console Theme Anim V2/images//Playlists Folder make sure to go into options in BigBox and refresh all images. What is this theme: This is a video snap based BigBox theme. Heavily designed around the use and display of video snaps. This theme has over a hundred views including one that offers a different look for each platform including handhelds. There is a large amount of custom graphics and logos and images and icons etc. Hence the large file size. Use the startup and pause themes to complete the seamless setup. (also included here) All icons including stars for 'consumer ratings' and 'ESRB rating' and the new 'playmode icons' are custom and included in the theme file. Use them all you want. I am using the nostalgia platform videos and these are perfect for this theme. I may make my own someday but for now these are Great. @Wanderer189 is currently making videos for every genre and playmode. (you are awesome buddy, thank you so much for all your hard work and contributions to this and other themes) Available Downloads: Retro Console Theme Anim V2.zip - This is the entire theme including platform and platform device logos as well as all icons so you don't have to download them individually. This does not include the startup video, startup or pause themes, collection logos, etc. Retro Console Theme Anim V2-center videos.zip - This an alternate version of the theme. This version is designed to let users select a platform video set other than the Nostalgia set that I have been using. It is much better for center aligned platform videos. controller buttons - arcade.zip - Arcade panel based controller buttons controller buttons - numbered.zip - Number based controller buttons controller buttons - ps3.zip - PlayStation based controller buttons controller buttons - xbox.zip - XBOX based controller buttons Retro-Console-Pause.zip - The pause theme I made also to match this theme. (screens below) Retro-Console-Startup.zip - The startup and shutdown theme I made to match with this theme. (screens below) Platform Clear Logos.zip - Included in the theme download but also here in case you just want them alone. These were made specifically for this theme. Platform Device Logos.zip - Also made for this theme for the platform view that uses device images. Collection Device Logos.zip - Made to match this theme for the platform view that uses device images for each collection I use. I can make more upon request. Collection Logos.zip - Same as the platform logos. Made to match so they can be used in this theme. Platform Categories.zip - A bunch of category logos also made to match this theme. Startup Video.zip - A startup video I made just to add to the overall completeness of the theme. Not at all necessary but here if you want it. Retro Console Sound Pack.zip - Again not required but here if you want it. This is what i use in the video below. Just unzip it to your launchbox sounds folder and then select it in BigBox. Platform Original Boot Videos.zip - This is a pack of just the new startuo videos for each console or platform I could find. (included in theme so no need to download unless you want just these) Arcade Defualt Clear Logos.zip - A new community contribution including several new arcade logos for playlists. Recommendations: Set your Image priorities in Launchbox as follows - Cart Front ( add disc images to the list - this is used in many views in this theme) Set your startup and shutdown time limits in launchbox settings. (mine are: startup=5 sec and shutdown=3.5 sec) I designed this around the Nostalgia Platform Videos. You can use anything but those will fit and line up best. This theme assumes an xbox controller setup: A=Select, B=Back, X=Search, Y=Game Details and Select Button=Change View (not required) I also set the left bumper to platforms and right bumper to platform categories. (not required but helpful) Get as many Banner, Steam Banner and Marquee images as you can. This theme offers a unique view for all arcade cabinet based games and will use those images. There is also a custom view for systems like Windows that also use them. Future Plans: Create a new view that uses the original loading video from each console. (started on 1-3-2020) DONE Complete the white silhouette console and controller images that are used in the startup theme. DONE Add animations to the theme ( @y2guru is working on this ability for his theme creator as we speak and I will update once it is ready) DONE Make platform videos to match this theme (maybe) - In the works How to Install: Extract Retro Console Theme.zip to your launchbox themes folder. This includes all the platform and device logos you need and will automatically use them. ( In order to use other logos just delete the ones in this theme folder) You can also use the startup and pause themes to add more of a consistent flow. Drop the startup video (if you want it) in the launchbox videos root folder. This theme currently has over 80 different platforms and includes the matching device logos, collection logos, category logos and more but some of these have to be added manually through launchbox (sorry). I can not figure out how to make them automatic. Startup Video: Theme Video: Screenshot System View: Screenshots of each Logo Type: Screenshots - Startup and Shutdown and Pause Theme: Screenshots - Random and Extra Stuff: Screenshots - Random Icons and Controllers Made for This Theme:

  29. Hello everyone, I'm the OP of the "Pin-Locked Games" suggestion: https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/5082/pin-code-option-to-unlock-certain Thank you so much for voting for this suggestion and all the other great suggestions from the other members of this nice and great community. It's really humbling to see my suggestion make it on the 2021 new features list. I'm really happy about this and I sincerely thank everyone to make this happen. As a final request to the awesome developers, please make the mechanism as "Lock" NOT only "hide" or at least an option for "Lock". I mean it will be great if we can see the game tile with everything related to it like the background and video and notes... etc.... but when we click on "Play" (when on BigBox mode) it will ask us for the pin code to unlock this game to be able to play it. And it should do that every time we select "Play" in the same game section. I think this is the best option for many of us. So please make it at least an option instead of hiding only. Many thanks again for everyone and best regards to all.

EmuStation2LaunchBox moves emulation station roms/images (from a pi image saved to drive) into LaunchBox folders. Then by using a pre-filled platforms.xml file, you can import the lot into LaunchBox with one command. I've set up most of the front ends over the years and usually automate it. There are loads of pi images available, just grab one, use a tool to extract to your hard drive and run this.

  32. Since we can only comment on what is on the list and not suggest better options. I would like to say that if the "Suggested games/reccomended games" feature is implemented, I will stop using launchbox if it cannot be turned off. There is nothing I hate more than having shit "suggested" to me, I can find my own groceries/games/magazines/movies/music/books whatever, I don't need to be suggested/shown ads/be told what to watch/play/do next. Sorry if I sound angry, but as someone suffering from concentration problems I have a natural hatred for every pop-up/blinking avatar/slider/useless extra bit of text/images that I am currently not interested in.

  33. Hello Everyone, Please, Is there a way to change these BigBox menus select colors. I changed every single color value on every single XAML file, but none of these menus color has changed. I want to change these colors to make the theme more cohesive and less jarring (color wise) since I use these menus a lot. Many Thanks in advance for any help and Best Regards to All.

  35. Thank you for the progress here guys, especially @static. I have everything upgraded to .NET Core 3.1; we're just doing some final testing and fixes before releasing it in beta form. I plan to release a new beta before the end of the week, and I expect things to run at least a little bit more smoothly on Linux with the .NET Core 3.1 beta release.
