    Version 1.2

    15,369 downloads

This theme is a port of the HyperSpin Unified Widescreen Megatheme project, which was originally started by gibbawho and continued by many other talented artists over the years. It’s supposed to bring a unified look (hence the name) across all platforms while giving every platform it’s own individual touch. I’ve tried to stay very close to the original look and feel but also took some creative freedom, especially when it comes to the new fading info panel at the bottom of the screen. This theme was designed for 16:9 screens and display resolutions only. Big Box will automatically scale itself to a 16:9 aspect ratio when you use a different aspect ratio on your machine. Features: Individual Artwork for a lot of different platforms and playlists + some alternatives you can choose from Matches with the Unified platform video set from EmuMovies Fully animated wheel pointer Spinning discs for disc-based platforms Various other custom animations Templates to build your own platform artwork are included as .psd files Brings a small taste of the HyperSpin feeling to your Big Box setup Currently featured Views: Games Text List View: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 1: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 2: 3D Box + static cart/disc Games Vertical Wheel View 3: 3D Box + rotating disc Games Vertical Wheel View 4: Fullscreen video Platform Vertical Wheel View 1: Fullscreen video + scrolling text Platform Vertical Wheel View 2: Fullscreen video without scrolling text More Views are planned, so stay tuned. The theme includes artwork for the following 498 Platforms/Playlists: The theme will also display a default artwork for Platforms/Playlists which are not yet covered or wrongly named. How to install: This theme only works on LaunchBox version 9.4 or higher! Just download the archive and extract it to: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Go to the “Plugins” folder inside of the extracted folder and right-click on the .dll file. Choose Properties -> Click on “Unblock” at the bottom of the window. Close the window. If the "Unblock" button isn't there than you are already good to go. Open the Options menu in Big Box -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to "Unified". Change the “Games List View” and “Platforms List View” to one of the currently featured Views that are listed above. Make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled. Info: Never rename the theme folder! The theme folder has to be named exactly "Unified" or the theme won't work properly! (that's btw. an universal tip for all other themes as well) Known issues: The logo of the Platform/Playlist and the individual video border don't show up in the Game Details screen and the theme displays the generic Big Box logo and metallic video border instead when it gets opened through any other Games View than the Text List View. Tips for tweaking your LaunchBox setup for this theme: In LaunchBox: Tools -> Options -> Cart Front Priorities -> Select all Cart and Disc related entries, deselect everything else. In Big Box: Options ->Transitions -> Change "Game Image/Video Transition” to “Fade” In Big Box: To avoid spinning cart art go to: Options -> Views -> Make sure that „Remember separate View for each platform” is checked. Than go either to the Keyboard Mappings or the Controller Buttons settings and set up a key/button for “Switch View”. Now you can go back to your platforms and switch the games Views for each platform individually on the fly. Use the Unified Platform videos from EmuMovies for an overall uniform look. You can either download them as free user from the EmuMovies website or if you are an EmuMovies premium user you can get them directly through LaunchBox under: Tools -> "Download Platform/Playlist Theme Videos". Individual platform artwork not showing up?: The media files that are inside the “..\LaunchBox\Themes\Unified\Images\Theme\..” folder have to be named exactly like your platforms inside LaunchBox. I've went with the HyperList/RocketLauncher naming conventions for the filenames in this package. If Big Box doesn’t show any individual artwork for a system that is listed above you may need to manually rename the relevant files for that platform in all four sub-folders. Also make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled! Discs are not spinning / showing up?: Make sure you have the right Games List View selected and Disc images in your Cart Image Priorities enabled (see the tips section of this download description). I will make a first batch of 65 systems, according to my personal use. But we are far from covering any game system! If the community doesnt take over the creation, 2 choices: the project stops /or/ I finish it. Problem, creating these videos takes a loooooot of time. And I have to deal with a full-time CGI artist job and 2 young kids. So I opened a Patreon page that could allow me to dedicate days on my work time to continue creating video. I'm not trying to get rich, but like everyone else, I cant spend 1 day/week working for free! I hope you understand. If the project interests you: Here is my Patreon page. # IN DETAIL ? Happy Christmas or Yule brothers! Arcade 3D Boxes 2.0 Important: Press follow button in the upper right corner to get notified for any future updates to this project, future updates to this page will not be pushed to the "What's New" section. I was inspired by the Mame 3D Boxes by @Robin55 and @Reevesad and the work by @spycat and @MadK9 At first I experimented to convert Robin's work to a darker color as it fits my dark colored setup better, one thing let to another and was helped enormously by @Robin55 in the process of automation and more, if it wasn't for all his help and work this project wouldn't have happened, thanks again so much brother! \m/ The 3D boxes are mostly for the Mame set (could include other emulators as well) but only includes Arcade video games, no pinball, fruit machines and such. Features: Covers based on official flyers, instruction flyers or fan art, customized official artwork and more. I've hunted down previously artwork missing from databases and/or very rare flyers, original resolution of these images can be low some times. Each box has a logo for the game, if it was missing I've hunted it down or extracted it from images (I upload these logos to the database as well) Each box has a logo of the company that either developed or published it (some flyers may have a different publisher from another region, bit confusing at times) Each box is manually color corrected, cleaned and optimized Some games have a second alternative version, made from cabinet side art, marquees or from a different region for example Please remember if you miss boxes to also check the naming convention of the file and if it is the same as the most recent version in the database. Any entry with "The" in front (Like The Astyanax) will be included in the QRST pack. NOTE! : After installing the images you have to select all (or any alphabetical range) arcade games (CTRL+A = select all) go to Tools and click 'Refresh selected images', let it load and cache and the games should now display the right 3D boxes. Hope you like Credits Thanks go out to anyone contributing and making art for the launchbox games database. Thanks for any help, encouragement and advice: @Robin55 @spycat @MadK9 @Reevesad @Jason Carr @Kondorito @zetec-s-joe @Fablog @andyco47 @mikty Special thanks to: @neil9000 and @Retro808 for those logistics \m/

Note: using these requires LaunchBox 9.10 beta 1, or above. The files in the attached archive are the start of my effort to create 'default' images for most of my installed platforms. Copy the archive to your <launchbox install directory>\Images\Platforms directory and extract there. Start Launchbox, select your matching platform names, then refresh all images. Any missing media in your same image categories as mine should now show up (you may have to rename some of the extracted directories if they don't match the platform names in LaunchBox). I modeled most of these on graphic types from EmuMovie assets. Please feel free to make requests, or post your own default images. The Community Theme Creator for BigBox is still in development and should be treated as an Alpha build, however it has enough features in place that would allow you to start building your own Themes. (Please see Pyramids by @Rincewind) As I have no documentation at this point, please visit my YouTube Channel as I demonstrate some of the various features. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCALHDoR8oQifl6sbIrdrW6w Installation 1. Download .zip file 2. Unblock (right click on the .zip file, select properties and click on Unblock) 3. Unzip where ever you like 4. Go to the unzipped folder and go to folder ".Install these fonts first to allow the demo theme to load correctly in the editor" 5. Install the 2 fonts (these are only needed for the included Theme) 6. Click on the "COMMUNITY Theme Creator for BigBox.exe" 7. Fill out the setup properties (userid / name and location of the BigBox.exe ) 8. Enjoy! FYI. If you wish to design a Theme in either 4:3 or 16:9 or any other aspect ratio then simply change your windows desktop settings to the desired resolution and open the editor.

The idea of this set is to place the gameplay video in context, with the hardware of its time. A touch of nostalgia to better understand an unknown material especially for the youngest. Most of the montages use the EmuMovie gameplay videos. The others are mine. PCSX2 Configurator Next for LaunchBox PCSX2 Configuartor Next is a plugin for LaunchBox that allows users to easily configure PCSX2 on a per-game basis. The plugin also allows for pre-optimised configs to be downloaded from right within LaunchBox for a whole host of popular PS2 games, from Zombeaver's excellent PS2 Configuration Project. Installation The plugin is easy to install and simply needs to be downloaded and extracted. The archive contains a folder called "PCSX2 Configurator Next", this should be placed in the root of the "Plugins" in the user's LaunchBox directory. Any previous versions of the plugin should be removed before attempting to install this version. General Usage The plugin is relatively straight forward to use, but has been changed significantly from previous versions. You will first need to have PCSX2 (1.5.0 development build) setup as an emulator in LaunchBox. Then right click on a PS2 Game and choose "PCSX2 Configurator" from near the bottom of the context menu. This will present a menu of options: "Create Config" - Creates a new config for the game in question based on the users current PCSX2 settings, If a config already exists this will overwrite that config with a new one. "Download Config" - This will download one of Zombeaver's Config and set it up to be ready to play for the selected game, this will be greyed out if now config is available, and will change to "Update Config" if a new update is available for the downloaded config. "Remove Config" - This will remove the current config for the selected game, and will be greyed out if there is no current config. "Configure With PCSX2" - This will open PCSX2 with the config for the selected game loaded, allowing you to customise your config for the selected game (Downloaded Config's can also be tweaked). Once a game has a created config this can also be done using LaunchBox's built in "Configure" from the games context menu. Both these options will be greyed out if there is no config for the selected game. There is also a "settings.ini" file created in the plugins folder ("%LaunchBoxDir%/Plugins/PCSX2 Configurator Next"), this can be tweaked manually but most settings don't need to be touched in most cases. Some people may wish to change the "GameConfigsDir" which is where the created configs are stored, this deafults to the users PCSX2 "inis" directory. There is currently no inteface to modify these settings, but that is planned in a future version. Version Info and The Next in The Name This version of the plugin is the successor to the original PCSX2 Configurator plugin, with a completely re-worked codebase from that version, and full compatibility with LaunchBox.Next (which is now the current version of LaunchBox). The main reason "Next" was added to the name is to initially seperate it from that (now discontinued) verison of the plugin. This release is currently in Beta and the "Next" from the name will probably be dropped eventually for a stable release with more features. Credit and Support I have personally put a lot of time and effort into all versions of this plugin, with it essentially being my free-time pet project for the last year and a half. Though I know the plugin would not be what it is today without Zombeaver who really helped me to bring this plugin to the next level, by allow me to integrate his PS2 configurations into it as well as creating artwork and helping me test the plugin. I would also like to say a big thank you to spectral, neil9000, and kmoney for helping me out with testing, and of course Jason Carr for making LaunchBox and implementing some of my requested changes into the plugin engine. I intend to keep working on this plugin, and fix any reported bugs as well as update the plugin with new features. So if you have any problem or feature request's hop over to the plugins thread on the forums and let me know. The project is also open sourced under the MIT license and can be found on my github. UPDATE (JUNE 2020): This Plugin is now in maintenance mode, and is nearing end of life. I am currently working on a standalone version that will serve the same purpose, which will also be made to work with LaunchBox. The progress of that can be found here

What's different in 2.0? *This replaces the old version of Refried entirely. DO NOT merge this new version with the old one. *All platform addon themes from the first version of Refried have been merged into one single addon called "Queso Fresco" (because it tastes great on top of refried beans...that's why). Therefore all of those older addon themes are no longer needed. *Requires Launchbox 9.4 or above to function properly *Revised Install instructions (please read them below if you are just starting out with the theme) *Added custom controller icons for play modes in the game description on some systems...this will get finished in the future *More great additions made by Ghostlines to the theme *Added the fullscreen video view to all platforms (view 4) *Improved the artwork slightly for the Big Box options menus Important note**If you install this theme, and the artwork does not display properly for a platform on your system, then more than likely it is a naming conflict between your platform and the files in the theme. To fix this issue, you must locate these files and change the name to your actual platforms name: 1.Images/Theme/Background/(name of your platform that is mislabeled) 2.Images/Theme/VideoBorder/(name of your platform that is mislabeled) If you install the Queso Fresco addon as well, then you must also rename the custom view xaml files to your platform name. I set out to make an alternate version to the beautiful Unified theme, with modifications here and there, yet,as I worked on it more and more,I started to go a different direction slightly...and thus Refried was born. This theme is built to focus on artwork, and showcase each system in bright colorful high definition artwork. I have drawn all new original arcade cabinets, and designed custom borders for each platform, which set each system apart from each other, while maintaining a unified appearance across the board. The main difference between this, and many other themes that are out there...are the video borders. When using the Default theme, all video borders are the same size across the entire theme...but,when using the addons, the video borders will then fit the system properly...so that the video for Game Boy Advance, will fit the GBA Video Border...and the PSP video, will fit the PSP Video Border. In other words,by using the custom view addons,it allows the theme to represent the system perfectly...rather than the same size border for everything. This theme is more than capable of running without a single addon theme installed, and only using the Default...the addons are merely to extend the experience of each system, with special added artwork, and tweaks. On the other hand, the Addons rely on the Default themes structure, and will not work without the default theme installed. There are multiple views included with the default theme, including - 1.Border with No Box/Cart/Disc Art 2.Border with Box/Cart/Disc Art 3.Border with Box/Spinning Cart/Disc Art 4.Full Screen Video w/Centered enlarged wheel 5.Border Text List View with Box/Cart/Disc Art The Queso Fresco addon has 5 views - 1.Special Artwork/Special Border with No Box/Cart/Disc Art 2.Special Border with Box/Cart/Disc Art (With wheel fade) 3.Special Border with Box/Cart/Disc Art (No wheel fade) 4.Full Screen Video w/Centered enlarged wheel 5.Special Border Text List View with Box/Cart/Disc Art **If the system has CD's/Discs,then the Disc will spin in Views 2 and 3...but,if the system has carts or floppies, then they will not spin in views 2 and 3. The Arcade portion of the Queso Fresco addon has 5 views - 1.Dynamic Marquees with Character Artwork 2.No Dynamic Marquees with Character Artwork 3.Dynamic Marquees with Advert/Flyers 4.Full Screen Video w/Centered enlarged wheel 5.Text List View with Advert/Flyers/Cabinets With the Queso Fresco addon installed, the arcade platforms are capable of displaying Video Marquees for each game,as well as regular marquees, in the marquee area of the cabinets (Some samples are included, and more are on the way)* Any Video Marquees must be placed in "LaunchBox/Themes/Unified Refried/Images/Theme/Addons/_Arcade/Video Marquees/" and must be in mp4 format In order to make this work properly, you must go into LaunchBox options, and change the priority for Cart Back Image to Arcade - Marquee, and uncheck anything else. Installation: 1.Download the Default theme (Unified Refried) ,and place it in your "Launchbox/Themes" folder 2.If you have not done so,you will need to unblock the Plugins...This does not have to be done for every addon theme,as unblocking them once,in the default,is all that is necessary...excerpt taken from unified description - 3.Set the theme to "Unified Refried" in Options/Views/Theme 4.If installing any of the addons, simply unzip the addon, and open the folder that was created. In this case we will use the Queso Fresco addon as an example. 5.Place the two folders (Images and Views) into the Unified Refried default theme folder, merging the folders when prompted. 6.That's it! ....When you load up Big Box,the artwork should be changed to the Queso Fresco alternate art. Pictures of Installation process for those that need them...If this is your first time using Refried you can skip step 1 Thanks @RetroNi for the use of his Logo set. @CriticalCid for his theme Unified,as I used alot of his coding as a base for the assembly of this theme. @kyoken @neil9000 @bundangdon @zetec-s-joe @Retro808 @Porl Hendy for their feedback during testing. @faeran for his help early on in the development stages. @Jason Carr because I used a bit of code from his Redux version, and took on some of his ideas from the changes he made @NJDave71 for his HelperControl plugin @bmonomad @Suhrvivor for their work on the Community Star Ratings,Favorites, and Play Mode code, which formed the base for implementing it into this theme @Ghostlines for his additions to the theme Examples: Current Platform list covered by the theme - Arcade Consoles Handhelds Computers Pinball Ghostlines Additions Current Playlists covered by the theme - Collections Genres Developers Favorites The Platform/Playlist video set can be found here... This theme was designed to add as little overhead as possible, while giving a clean and simplistic view of the content. To do this I decided on not adding any images at all, and instead used XAML to build all the elements. When zipped, the entire theme comes out around 300KB. RetroFresh works with your own media and uses them as its centerpiece. Hope you guys enjoy. LBPlex is a theme that mimics Plex Media Server's website interface. Two versions are included in the package: LBPlex - which has the default item spacing on the sidebar and list view, and LBPlex Condensed - which has much tighter item spacing on the sidebar and list view. I have also replaced the volume "knob" with a regular slider. NOTES: All the colors in this theme are hard-coded with the exception of the Foreground (text) color in the LaunchBox Options\Legacy\Theme\Colors menu. The Background Opacity slider in the LaunchBox Options\Visuals\Boxes menu has no effect right now. A fix is in-coming so this will work at a later date. Update: If you run the latest LaunchBox Beta (8.7-beta-1 or above) this is fixed. The Fade Background slider in LaunchBox Options\Images\Default Background will adjust the brightness of the theme background image. Enjoy

I've bought a license on the last Black friday sale and started to messing with Launchbox and i loved it! it's such an awesome frontend! A set of 155 (with more to come) platform videos, that I have created to match perfectly with my Refried theme. I have used the same character,Background, and border art in the videos, that is in the theme, for the majority of the videos. I am sure it's obvious where the influence came from for the theme, but, this whole thing started out as an alternate version to the Unified theme, which sort of took off and became something slightly different overall. While I do have plans for about 60+ more videos to add to this set,I am afraid I cannot take requests,at least until the project,as a whole, is completed. A special Thank you to @RetroNi for allowing me to use his white bordered logo set, with a few changes, for the titles in these videos...As well as @CriticalCid for giving me the unspoken inspiration to even start this project in the first place! New Version 1.4 Removed "Reset Playtime" function from BigBox as requested by @klepp0906 and @Blazer New Version 1.3 Added a visual playtime setter/editor New Version 1.2 Fixed another string error that would sometimes cause the playtime to not record. Thanks @TheNewClassics. Everything should work now but please don't hesitate to let me know if any other problems arise. New Version 1.1 Please update to the new version. I caught a string error that would prevent any playtime from going over 23 hours. The new version will keep all your game's previous playtime intact. Also, you can now reset a game's playtime in LB from the selected games right click menu (@Krakerman). Drop the .dll in your LaunchBox\Plugins directory and start tracking how long you play your games. The playtime is recorded as a custom field so it is visible in LaunchBox on the game details bar and in BigBox in the game details. See the screenshots for reference. Known Issues: Per the plugin API (http://pluginapi.launchbox-app.com/html/a40a286d-83c6-e179-940c-7e4166d567fe.htm) this may not function correctly with all platforms (ie. Steam) but I have tested it with RetroArch, Dolphin, and PCSX2 without problems.

A simple startup and shutdown screen theme revolved around clear logos and fanart artwork, with a big progress bar on the bottom. (You need LaunchBox version 9.2 beta or newer for this theme to work). How to install and setup: - Download the zip file of the theme and extract it to LaunchBox's root folder. - Open LaunchBox, go to Tools --> Options, Click on the Game Startup tab on the left, then change the Startup Theme to Big Logo. Any feedback is much appreciated. Enjoy!

This theme attempt to be minimal and modern and maximise screen estate. Note: this is a beta release and features may change in future releases. Installation Unzip into LaunchBox\LBThemes directory In LaunchBox go to: Options -> Visuals -> Theme: Lambda beta Windows 7/8 user: Microsoft's “Segoe MDL2 Assets” font ( SegMDL2.ttf ) is required for the buttons and icons to rendered properly. (If you have it it will work but it’s not included here because of licensing reasons.) Settings guide tl;dr: You may have to tweak your Boxes aspect ratio and spacing. The top Details image is only visible when Fanart is available. Button bar can't be hidden because of the licensing info. Font and colour settings have no effect (font is based on system font). Settings used in screenshots are: Options -> Visuals -> Boxes -> Spacing: Aspect Ratio: 0.6 * Horizontal Spacing: 2 Vertical Spacing: 2 Horizontal Padding: 8 Vertical Padding: 2 Text Spacing: 4 Text Lines to Show: 2 *) For horizontal box art you may need to use a higher value. Options -> Visuals -> Boxes: Align Text Vertically : enabled Align Text Horizontally : enabled Show Subline : enabled (for platform info) Other recommended settings: Options -> Legacy -> General -> Game Details: Show Fanart: enabled other options at your own preference Options -> Legacy -> Images -> Background Priorities : Fanart : enabled other options disabled Options -> Visuals -> Backgrounds: Background Blur Amount : 100 Background Fade Amount : 0 (Imo. the theme looks best when blurred background Fanart and Details Fanart are the same image.) Settings that don't have any effect: Button bar can't be hidden because the license has to stay visible. Colours are hard coded. Font (including size and scaling) is based on your Windows system settings. Thanks to Grila for allowing me to use his LBPlex theme code, Retro808, neil9000, C-Beats and Jason Carr for testing and everyone who supported this release on the forum. Nostalgia uses the amazing platform videos created by @viking to create a per-system theme; thanks to viking for letting me derive from and name my theme after his work. It's designed for 16:9; tested at HD but not 4k since I don't have a 4k setup. Please let me know if you spot problems or have suggestions. It relies on a set of plugin controls I created, so you'll have to unblock either the entire zip file, or more specifically the DLL files in the theme's Plugins folder (see below). Due to its reliance on certain plugin features, the current version of this theme requires LB version 10+. Bundled with Nostalgia are some clear logos from viking's silver ring set, along with a few extras. Also bundled are platform banners created by @Grila and @Omen. For the best experience (including CRT curvature effects for videos), I recommend setting BigBox to use Windows Media Player. Platform Views: Background as the current platform (from viking's video set) including a video playing within the arcade cabinet, TV screen, etc. If there is no video for the selected platform, category, or playlist, a random list of relevant game videos are played instead. If no vids are available, screenshots are used. Platform, category, or playlist details are displayed to the left of the screen. Game Views: Selected game is displayed within a platform-specific background. If no game video exists, the game's screenshots are played as a slideshow while the game's soundtrack (if found in your LB setup) is played in the background. If neither game nor screenshots exist, a video of TV static plays. Game details are displayed to the left of the screen. Filter Views: E.g., Genres, Series, etc -- in this view, a random list of game videos for the selected Series, etc. will play. KNOWN ISSUES: (1) 3DS and DS videos do not display properly. This is due to how they were captured, i.e., with both screens on these dual screen devices being squished into a single video. A potential workaround is to crop out the auxiliary screen from these videos and use on the part from the main screen. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. I think handbrake would work for batch cropping. (2) There are missing platform backgrounds. I tried to include the most common platforms. Viking's background set is quite thorough; please send me any requests. NOTE: Unblocking the ZIP file will also unblock the DLLs (e.g., Ao.Bigbox.Themer.dll and others) contained therein, giving your computer permission to run these DLLs. This is an issue with all plugins you might download from this forum. It's a Windows security feature. You basically have to vouch for a file before Windows will use it. I liken it to how a MS office document you download from an email runs in Protected Mode until you unblock it for printing, editing, etc. Below is the error you'll see if you don't unblock the file, as well as a screenshot of the solution.

The idea of this set is to place the gameplay video in context, with the hardware of its time. A touch of nostalgia to better understand an unknown material especially for the youngest. This is the initial release of NoshOnThis theme. Right now the theme is specifically optimized for 16:9 resolutions but that will be improved soon. Make sure to read the readme.txt in the theme root, there are a few fonts that need to be installed, Dense and Exo and for the moment the custom platform category banners need to be moved into your LaunchBox\Images folder but that was actually just fixed on the live stream I am on currently and should be released with 7.11.0.1 beta. This theme is packaged with a custom pack of platform banners, there are currently 63 of them. I will continue to create them and I am more than happy to take requests. I will also be releasing the banner pack separately as well. Make sure to clear your coverflow and platform wheel image cache or the custom banners will probably not show up for you. There is an easter egg included with the theme that will show up randomly 1-30 minutes when sitting on a platform or game view. You may need to increase your Attract Mode delay time in order to see it. Enjoy!

MAME 0.218 NO NAG It’s time for MAME 0.218, the first MAME release of 2020! We’ve added a couple of very interesting alternate versions of systems this month. One is a location test version of NMK’s GunNail, with different stage order, wider player shot patterns, a larger player hitbox, and lots of other differences from the final release. The other is The Last Apostle Puppetshow, an incredibly rare export version of Home Data’s Reikai Doushi. Also significant is a newer version Valadon Automation’s Super Bagman. There’s been enough progress made on Konami’s medal games for a number of them to be considered working, including Buttobi Striker, Dam Dam Boy, Korokoro Pensuke, Shuriken Boy and Yu-Gi-Oh Monster Capsule. Don’t expect too much in terms of gameplay though — they’re essentially gambling games for children. There are several major computer emulation advances in this release, in completely different areas. Possibly most exciting is the ability to install and run Windows NT on the MIPS Magnum R4000 “Jazz” workstation, with working networking. With the assistance of Ash Wolf, MAME now emulates the Psion Series 5mx PDA. Psion’s EPOC32 operating system is the direct ancestor of the Symbian operating system, that powered a generation of smartphones. IDE and SCSI hard disk support for Acorn 8-bit systems has been added, the latter being one of the components of the BBC Domesday Project system. In PC emulation, Windows 3.1 is now usable with S3 ViRGE accelerated 2D video drivers. F.Ulivi has contributed microcode-level emulation of the iSBC-202 floppy controller for the Intel Intellec MDS-II system, adding 8" floppy disk support. Of course there are plenty of other improvements and additions, including re-dumps of all the incorrectly dumped GameKing cartridges, disassemblers for PACE, WE32100 and “RipFire” 88000, better Geneve 9640 emulation, and plenty of working software list addition Please visit @MadK9 Happy Gaming

Unified Redux is a very slight re-imagining of @CriticalCid's amazing Unified theme, focusing on minor tweaks to improve the experience based on the LaunchBox developer's personal preferences. Changes from the original theme are listed below: Rounder wheels Much faster-spinning discs Wheel shadows Videos maintain their aspect ratios Smoother transitions in a few spots Top bar modified to prevent triangle corner overlap issues Version 1.8 - Released March 26, 2019 (REQUIRES LAUNCHBOX\BIG BOX 9.6): Fixed several potential issues due to accidentally using the Unified folder instead of the Unified Redux folder Version 1.7 - Released March 25, 2019 (REQUIRES LAUNCHBOX\BIG BOX 9.6): Removed several unnecessary plugins for functionality now built-in to LaunchBox\Big Box Modified XAML to better support Big Box 9.5/9.6 (solves several minor visual issues, primarily with text lists) Version 1.6 - Released December 3, 2018 (REQUIRES LAUNCHBOX\BIG BOX 9.1): Added a new PrioritizedPathSelector plugin, which helps to ensure that proper images are shown for complicated playlist scenarios (multiple fallback priorities, etc.) Version 1.5 - Released November 26, 2018 (REQUIRES LAUNCHBOX\BIG BOX 9.1): Fixed issue with Arcade/MAME playlists not using proper media Version 1.4 - Released November 15, 2018 (REQUIRES LAUNCHBOX\BIG BOX 9.0): Pointer images will now change when entering into nested platforms and categories Year and manufacturer text will no longer show up on platform views when those values don't exist Publisher listed in the game details has been changed to developer, which is more important information to display Developer, genre, and play mode text will no longer show up on game views when those values don't exist Ratings displayed in the game views now show your personal rating instead of the community rating, if you've previously rated the game Version 1.3 - Released November 12, 2018 (REQUIRES LAUNCHBOX\BIG BOX 9.0): Added much better support for the new nested categories and playlists in LaunchBox\Big Box 9.0 (no more black screens) Version 1.2 - Released August 31, 2018: Removed Grila's weather plugin. As awesome as it is, it was causing 1-2 second delays loading up every view. Version 1.1 - Released August 30, 2018: Background images revamped (and in some cases removed) for common platforms in order to increase readability of the wheels and remove JPEG artifacts (many of the Classics playlists had backgrounds with horrible artifacts from Hyperspin). Thanks to @RetroHumanoid for many of the new backgrounds. Removed the default Big Box logo for platforms or playlists with no logos. Even we're not that in love with the Big Box logo. Added background fanart images for some playlists that will show up if there are no videos for that playlist; previously the theme was showing a black screen in this case. Reduced the size of the theme by over 350 MB by converting the background images from PNGs to maximum-quality JPGs. There is no perceived quality loss and now the theme is less than half the size. Modified/removed some of the video borders with characters in order to better support the new arcade playlists (some of them were irrelevant to arcade games) and make room for arcade flyer images, which used to half-overlap the characters. Highly recommended: Modify your "Images" > "3D Box Priorities" settings in LaunchBox to include "Box - Front" and "Advertisement Flyer - Front" images in order to display regular box or arcade flyer images if no 3D box image exists. Please note: You will need to completely delete the previous version of the theme before putting in the new version in order to get all the updates (such as removing the Big Box logo and the space-saving JPG files). Demo Video: Examples of changes/additions to the 1.1 version of the theme: Please see @CriticalCid's original Unified theme for installation and troubleshooting instructions. Requires LaunchBox Big Box 8.0 or greater. MinimalX started as a variant of Grila's MinimalHD. It was first released in 2016 as Minimal-AO, and after incorporating a slew of plugins I rebranded it as of version 5.0 MinimalX. Due to its reliance on certain plugin features, MinimalX requires LB version 10+. I wanted to emphasize a simple setup and design elements that gracefully degrade if you are missing metadata for some games, etc. Its views have a consistent layout which I think makes navigation very easy. I settled on displaying all videos at 4:3 because I think that's better than displaying all at 16:9, and I think they look nice that way. MinimalX is skinnable; for instructions how to customize MinimalX and turn some features off/on (for example if you want to see metadata in the sidebar as in the final two screenshots), read the PDF document bundled with the download. Some of the features: System Info: Just because I wanted to figure out how to display that stuff. Metadata Banners: Such as category, platform, genre, play mode, star rating etc. Icon-augmented Text List: For quickly navigating based on a platform or game metadata. Dynamic List Header: Helps you keep track of where you are when navigating through BigBox. AO Video Engine: It will by default play the current category, platform, or game video. If a platform (or playlist or filter) video is not found, it will loop through a random selection of that platform's games with crossfading action (NOTE: to use this feature, you must set Big Box settings > Options > Videos > (check) Use Random Game Videos for Missing Platform Videos). If no platform or game videos are found, it will fall back to looping through a set of pertinent images. For game views, if a game video is not found, it will play a slideshow of the game's title screen, options, gameplay, etc, while the game music (if available) plays. The video engine supports VLC and WMP as configured in BigBox. NOTE: Unblocking the ZIP file will also unblock the DLL (e.g., Ao.Bigbox.Themer.dll) contained therein, giving your computer permission to run this DLL. And here is a shameless plug for my other themes: Refaktor - clean text-based view to suit 16:9 or 4:3 displays Nostalgia - displays videos within viking's clean platform images FluxCRT - displays videos within a mock CRT including curvature effect Epoch09 - post-apocalyptic flavored theme (still a work in progress)

*** Updated for Initial Support for LaunchBox v.Next *** AddToGamesDb: A plugin to help automate the process of submitting all of your game information and images from your collection to the LaunchBox Games Database. About the Plugin This plugin makes use of an application traditionally used in automated testing (Selenium) to automate the process of submitting games to the LaunchBox Games Database. It will open an instance of your default browser (provided that browser is either Chrome or Firefox. If some other browser is your default, it will try to open Chrome), and attempt to submit the selected game to the LaunchBox Games Database based on the information provided in your collection. If the game does not exist in the database, it will create a new game entry and submit it to the database. If you have added additional information or images to a game that already exists in the database, it will enter the title and platform, then pause to let you choose the existing game, then add any additional information from your collection to the LaunchBox Games Database. Installation Instructions Note: For this plugin to work, you will need to have either Chrome or Firefox installed. If you have both installed, it will use whichever you have set as your default browser. If you are using Firefox as your default browser and have enabled Firefox Profiles, please note that this will run under the default profile. For any and all other cases, Chrome is the preferred browser. Unzip everything to the Plugins folder. Usage Instructions Note: If, in editing your collection, you are prompted to download an update for the LaunchBox Games Database, afterward you will need to close and re-open LaunchBox for the plugin to detect the changes. Open LaunchBox and browse to a game that is either missing from the Games Database, has additional information not in the database, or has images not in the database -- right click that game, and select the appropriate option, it will show either: Add Game to LaunchBox Games Database Update Game in LaunchBox Games Database Add New Images to LaunchBox Games Database The first time you run the plugin, you may be prompted to login to LaunchBox Games Database. If so, the plugin will pause here to allow you to login as normal. Check "Remember Me" to skip this step going forward. Your login information is not read or stored in the code, it is stored in Chrome or Firefox's normal AppData cache on your system. If you do not login, the plugin will time-out after 5 minutes and close the browser. Depending on the game, you may be prompted with a screen that identifies similar titles and you will be asked to either select the correct title, or click the button to add a new game. If so, the plugin will pause here until you make your desired selection, then automation will resume for the remainder of the process. Logging By default, the logging is only set to a general "Info" level and up that contains generic start and submission successful messages, along with any errors encountered. If you continue to encounter an error somewhere along the way, please take the following steps: Browse to the plugin's folder -- LaunchBox\Plugins\AddToGamesDb Open NLog.dll.nlog in Notepad or another text editor. Scroll down to the bottom and find the <rules> section of the configuration. Find this line: <logger name="*" minlevel="Info" writeTo="file" /> And change it to this: <logger name="*" minlevel="Trace" writeTo="file" /> Try to submit the problem game, if it is a particular game causing the issue, or another game in general otherwise. Browse to the log file in the plugin's folder -- LaunchBox\Plugins\AddToGamesDb\log\AddToGamesDb.log Feel free to post the error and preceding trace either on the plugin's support page or PM me either the entire log or the part pertaining to the last issue, whichever is easier for you. From there, I'll investigate and make any updates necessary. Supported Fields Auto-population of the following fields is currently supported: Name/Title Platform Release Date ESRB Developers Publishers Genres Wikipedia URL Overview Max Players Cooperative Images Known Issues Context Menu (right-click menu) does not refresh on Audit window. If you update the information for a game in LaunchBox (clicking Edit from the right-click menu for the game), you will need to click away from the game (click some other game, for example), and then right-click on the updated game again for the context menu to update. Even without doing so, however, the correct process should run even though the text and icon on the menu haven't yet updated. A lot of work has gone into stabilizing the initial release and this latest release, but if you encounter any issues, please let me know and I will be glad to work with you to update the plugin accordingly. Thanks, Jason, for providing your amazing software and thanks again to Jason, the LaunchBox staff and the community for your support in developing this plugin.

Here is a set of ,currently, 270 Collection videos to be used with playlists. This coincides with all of the media released in the @CriticalCid theme "Unified". I have decided to upload them here, because Jason is a busy man,and I understand how much work it could be to enter this many videos in manually. I do plan on releasing more in the future, with an estimated goal of around 500-600 total playlist videos,as well as all of the artwork for the Unified theme that's needed. I do not have an estimated time-frame as to the release of more,I just know that's the plan. While I never expect anyone to actually have 600 playlists in their BigBox setup,I do believe that variety is the spice of life, and this will give plenty of options for personalizing your lists.Enjoy! Here was the release video I made for the initial 70 Collection videos : And here was the preview video of the 200 videos that followed : You can also find the Genre videos here : And the Favorites videos here: And the Developer Video set here...

ComixBox v1.0.2 BigBox Theme 2/23/2017 Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ComixBox is a theme based on old school comic book design. It relies heavily on having the proper artwork scraped for your systems and games including background fan art, screenshots, front cover images, etc. ComixBox also features some advanced animation techniques that have never been seen before in BigBox. Separate views were made for the diferent video snap aspects available. Utilize the option "Remember Separate View for Each Platform" in BigBox Options - Views to get the best visual from the theme (to avoid blank space on the sides of your video snaps). Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the fonts Bangers and Clementine, which are included in the root theme folder. Install them before running BigBox. * The animations in the theme were ultimately just me experimenting with some stuff to try and bring something new to a BigBox theme. I thought they ended up pretty neat so I left them in. I do have a version without them that I'm planning on adding to the .ZIP file shortly. * The theme was ultimately designed for 1920x1080 but was tested to be fully working at these resolutions as well: 1280x720 1366x768 1600x900 Changelog ~~~~~~~~~~~ v1.0.2 (2/23/2017): Changed all the videos to use the background video object so they would stretch to fill their appropriate spaces Forced platform and game background videos to "On" in the theme settings file to compensate for the above change v1.0.1 (2/21/2017): Added fade effect to the title section so the text doesn't appear until after the animation passes (applies to platform and game views 1, 2, and 3) Added the transition selector codes back to the text views that was erroneously removed during development v1.0.0 (2/20/2017): Initial release

This is a loose port / interpretation of the Aeon MQ7 skin for Kodi. It’s one of my absolute favorite skins for Kodi and was a huge inspiration for my first BigBox theme: CriticalZone After @NJDave71 already brought Aeon Nox to BigBox I thought it would be time to bring Aeon MQ as well. This theme was designed for 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios and tested on 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 resolutions! This is just an early preview version that I built last September. Due to my new job I hadn’t much time to finish it up as an extensive theme like CriticalZone. I used the holidays to polish the Views that I already had as I don’t want to just sit on it any longer and I have definitely planned to add a ton of new Games Views to this, but I don’t know when I will find the time to do it. So for now just take it as it is and tell me what you think about it and what do you wish for potential updates. This theme currently features 4 Platforms and 3 Games Views. How to install: 1. Just download the archive and extract it to: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” 2. Go to the “Plugins” folder inside of the extracted folder and right-click on of the .dll file. Choose Properties -> Click on “Unblock” at the bottom of the window. Close the window. If the "Unblock" button isn't there than you are already good to go. 3. Open the Options menu in BigBox -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to "Aeon MQ7". IMPORTANT: This theme requires at least LB v9.4 to work properly! Showcase video of the Game Views by @pipes78 I like to thank the following persons for their indirect help to create this theme: @eatkinola for his guide on how to add fonts as a plugin And of course everyone who was working on the original Aeon MQ skin! Known issues: - The navigation for the game boxes doesn’t work in the Horizontal Wheel Platforms View 1 - The available space for the horizontal scrolling text gets smaller the higher the DPI settings are on your PC.

Here you can download alternative versions of the CriticalZoneV2 theme that comes bundled with every LaunchBox installation. CriticalZone is a BigBox theme designed for the usage of widescreen platform videos and utilizes videos as backgrounds. This theme was designed for widescreen displays with 16:9 aspect ratios and optimized for a display resolution of 1920x1080. It will also work with other widescreen resolutions and 16:10 aspect ratios but it may not look as polished. Available Versions: - CritcalZoneV2 - BlueBox: A blue color variant of CriticalZoneV2. It features blue texts instead of green and has a different Default background created by @SentaiBrad - BackgroundVideoOnly: All Views, except the TextList Views, will only use video loops as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. - BackgroundFanartOnly: All Views will only use Fanart images as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. -> Use this version if you have performance problems! - 1.8: The original and now old version of CriticalZone. It's officially EOL and won't get supported by me in any way. It's just still here for archiving reasons. There’s also a red 80’s/Cyberpunk themed version of CriticalZone called “CityHunter”. It’s maintained by @keltoigael and can be found here: How to install: Just download the version of choice and extract the archive into: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Open the Options menu in BigBox -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to the version you just have installed. IMPORTANT: CriticalZone V2 requires LaunchBox v7.11 or higher! Known issues: - The description texts in all Platform Views and CoverFlowWithDetails Games View won’t fill the whole space of the descriptions box when you use CriticalZone with a higher DPI setting than 100% or a lower display resolution than 1902x1080. It gets progressively worse the higher the DPI settings and/or lower the resolution is. Thanks & Credits: Thanks to @SentaiBrad for creating the new Default background video for the BlueBox variant. This is probably my 3rd (and last) go at making a 3D box art set for the NES. There are many 3D boxes out there for the NES, but what makes this one special is the higher quality source images used and my favorite part, authentic retail spines used on all boxes (except some unlicensed prototypes that never even had box art to begin with). A lot of NES 3D boxes out there have the annoying NES logo on the spines, like this: I used to prefer that NES spine logo, but it now annoys me to no end. I wanted a complete set with authentic retail spines for all games, so I headed to thecoverproject.net and found a boatload of high quality boxes WITH retail spines, but not for every game so I just filled in the blanks, created retail spines for those without them. I even created box images for unlicensed and prototypes games. 888 games in total, some alternate covers here and there. The new 3D box template is larger than the old one since I was working with ultra high quality 2D images from the cover project. Here is the new box: As you can see, much better and of course, authentic. The dimensions are 903x1401, so its quite a large set but it looks great in Big Box. I do have a complete 2D set WITH Back, Left Spine and Front images. The dimenions on those are 3366x2100, and its almost 6GBs in file size so it will be a massive upload. I'll see if I can upload it after I upload this. I included as PSD template for those that want to create their own 3D boxes. Enjoy!

I designed some overlays for my 4K TV since I couldn't find any at that resolution at the quality I was looking for. I'm in the process of creating more systems in Photoshop, but the console themed designs take quite a while at 4K resolution. Many of these are inspired by the consoles design, so they aren’t 100% accurate to the source, they are just formatted to look nice as bezels/overlays. These overlays are designed to maximize screen real estate (IE no integer scaling), so there is no gap on the top and bottom of the screen. Use standard 4:3 aspect ratio or custom scaling. So, I won't be creating designs for consoles / handhelds that display primarily in 16:9, as doing that requires shrinking the game. I use the CRT_Geom shader with these settings changed and the screens are curved exactly where they need to be: CRT Geom Curvature Radius: 3.00 CRT Corner Size: 0.00 CRT Geom Sharpness: 3.00

This project is made possible by @Antny, @Kondorito, @Mr. RetroLust, @dssbob and @Orionsangel *IMPORTANT*: If you want to stay up to date of new packs and updates use the "Follow" button in the upper right corner. Any future updates will not be displayed in the "What's New" section. The aim of this project is a complete overhaul of the often used cabinet images (Arcade machines, Pinball, and Slots/Casino), including but not limited to: Higher resolution and quality versions of up to 2160 pixels vertically (Ultra HD)! All images have a transparent background! Higher accuracy of different regions and versions of cabinets All color corrected and optimized to get the most out of any image Many many new cabinets, previously missing from collections Reconstructed images, either entirely new photo realistic reconstructions or existing images which had previously missing parts added The possibilities of this project are endless, it will let frontends and arcade collections look much better as theme creators will be able to use the arcade cabinets category much more efficiently. Creators, Bloggers, Writers, Reviewers etc. will be able to use these images directly in their media and content enriching the community and history. Arcade games databases can be updated. Any creative process you can think of will be made much easier and look better. Please note that future Mame updates might change names of some roms, you might have to manually change the file name of the image in those particular cases, however when this project is eventually finished it will be uploaded completely to the launchbox game database so renaming them won't be necessary. So, follow this thread for any new updates! It will take a while before we finish the entire project but you will be able to download updates along the way An early impression of the project using the FutureState Neon Deluxe theme as an example how we can use these images. ______________________________________________________________________________ Credits and special thanks: @Antny let it be known!: without him this project would never be what it is, his years long collection of photo's is of great value to arcade history preservation, thanks buddy for everything you've done and do! @dssbob Thank you so much for the amazing work you do on this project, you work super fast and accurate, really glad you found us and the many work you provide!
