10.10-beta-1 is out now with the following: New Feature: Background blurring can now be fine tuned to any amount (or easily turned off) under Tools > Options > Visuals > Backgrounds. Background blurring options are also now available for all themes, including the old default theme. Improvement: Performance for the new default theme is now on par with the old default theme. We're using a completely new method to blur the backgrounds, since the old method was causing performance degradation. Improvement: Box shadows for the new default theme can be disabled under Tools > Options > Visuals > Boxes in order to improve performance on lowend systems Improvement: Numbers sections of titles will now be sorted numerically by default, instead of alphabetically. For example, the new logic will sort 1, 2, and 11 as 1, 2, 11 instead of the 1, 11, 2 order that was used previously. Fixed: In Big Box, the retro achievements game details web view can now be zoomed in and out with the proper bindings We've also added the manifest to supposedly support long path names, but we haven't been able to test and confirm that it's working. If anyone can confirm either way on this, please let us know.

Hey All Here is my updated slot machine collection. There is over one hundred newly emulated machines and many of the previously emulated machines have improved versions that take advantage of the updated emulator. I haven't kept track of which machines have been updated, so the file contains all the slots - so just delete your slot folder and replace it with this one. The "Box - Front" file contains snapshots of the machines, and I've uploaded the xml file which contains the "Manufacturer" and "TECH" custom fields. For all of you having problems getting the emulator, you need to register at http://www.desertislandfruits.com/ and make a couple posts. If you're still having problems, as Johnny T posted earlier in this thread, contact the site admin Reg and I'm sure he'll help you. Unfortunately, I can't upload the emulator because its creator only wants it to be available from that site, and we should respect his wishes. And here we are! The dark version is online! I hope you like it! 😘 ..:: BETA UPDATE ::.. Version 0.6 - Released January 7, 2020 - New Feature: By popular demand, the Dark View, for Platform & Games view. 😃 - Improvement: GamesView, now the platorm name was show in color. - Improvement: PlatformView, now the date show in platform color. - Improvement: In WheelGamesView, add a drop shadow to the wheels, for better visibility of games without ClearLogo. - Fixed: Trouble displaying quick access in TextGamesView fixed. Some screen : Everything seems to be working fine on my computer. There is only one problem in the design: Once the game is selected, we always end up falling on TextGamesView. It doesn't matter if you arrive from a light or dark view: you go on one page only. So only one design. Which "breaks" the continuity of the chosen design ... I can't do anything to fix it. 😕

Hi all, First time contributor. Thought I'd share my Main Menu platform logo set I put together. I created these using the logo template from y2guru and a lot of artwork/logo's taken from Hyperspin Themes. Full credit and thanks to all those original theme creators. Most of the main systems have a couple of versions to choose from, one using box art as a background and the other a game character. Enjoy!!

We actually used to use thegamesdb.net way back in the day, but they had so much down time that it was cause for major issues (there were times where the site was down for long periods of time). Our talks with them basically led to them telling us to take all the data and use it ourselves, which was in their license agreement and resulted in us creating the LaunchBox Games Database. So we based our initial data and images around their's, years ago. So we have quite a history with them. At this point I think the LaunchBox Games Database probably has better games coverage anyways.

Damn son, that's awesome! You really have to be focused and knowledgeable to build one of these. I so wish i had better electronics experience. The whole Pinscape and DOF stuff seems like too much for me to learn. Especially since you really need to know what you are doing when it comes to the different voltages and grounding. I don't want my shoddy electrical work to burn down my house. I think I will keep it easy and keep my computer separate too. I think I may just build the wood pinball table/artwork/monitors/buttons for now. And eventually add the extra electronics at a later period when I feel more comfortable with that process. I was also thinking of just buying one of VituaPin's plunger kit since I dont trust myself to go the Pinscape route.... that is, unless you are building extras and selling your creation 😃 Any experience with these? ... https://virtuapin.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=105

Hello. I'm a huge fan of this program. I think it's awesome that people are developing new DOS apps in 2020! Recently, I was inspired to try and get the program running on a PlayStation Portable after seeing this video of Android-based emulation device using the program as a launcher for DOS games: https://youtu.be/ErBAszD3NBo?t=432. I'm able to get the program to run with PSP DosBox. However, every time I try and add a game, I get an error message: "File access error in module MAIN at address 01DO:15F1." If I enter the game path directly into launchbx.txt, then launch the game from the app, I get the same error message, but for address 01D8:4874. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I wonder if perhaps it's because the latest version of DosBox available on PSP is 0.71? Hoping this new version under development will work on PSP! Or that I simply need to adjust some setting in dosbox.conf...

Found a small work around, when you delete a game as soon as you press on the last "yes" button to delete it, if you quickly press straight onto the game next to it or another game before the screen dims. When it stops dimming it won't go back to the top of the list. Sometimes doesn't work if the timing isn't right but a temp solution that helps a bit at least.

Jason, on the note of the GBA games not working, if i remember correctly the emulator handled gba differently than gbc/gb, Vgbanext used to be 2 separate emulators one for gbc/gb (which i beleive was named vgb), and the other was for GBA(called vgba), so the only thing i can think of is maybe in the code you are not referring to the right location/activity?

One other thing to try that I noticed on my setup. I don't use BB much for pinball so hadn't notice prior. I was getting script errors ("Index out of Range") on some tables in VP (Fireball, 24, Fish Tales) that would cause VP to halt and BB to hang. It only occurred in BB and only if the back glass settings were set in B2S Server to launch the EXE rather than standard startup and only for some tables. I didn't want to fiddle with my back glass settings though. Upon searching there were some threads on the GamEX site for similar issues when running their front end that noted odd crashes, hangs, and screen issues. The fix was to check the program compatibility setting. So in LB case, go to the BigBox.exe and right click on it for properties. Select the compatibility tab and see if "Compatibility Mode" is checked. If so, uncheck it. I don't recall ever checking this but apparently it was. Once I did that the oddball tables worked with no crashes or hangs in BigBox. If the above doesn't work, then try checking the "Disable B2S" box in Visual Pinball. Since you don't use back glass function, then not a big issue to check it. B2S appears to be the program that isn't playing nicely with BigBox so before I did the above fix, disabling (or turning B2S Server to run in Standard Mode versus EXE Mode) also fixed the sporadic table crashes.

It's good ! thx ! I was also a memory cache problem since before editing I didn't see my wheels, it's only after editing my theme that they appear in big box mode!I have the impression that the more the basic launchbox is loaded with media the more the elements take time to appear which would be logical thanks sir!

This program will compare your LaunchBox database to Mame. You can see what games have been added, renamed, or removed from Mame since the last version. I created this program because I was having trouble with LaunchBox importing roms after each new version of Mame. I tried using the add new roms button in LaunchBox, and when i checked each game after I noticed a lot of games did not get imported correctly, and I was not sure if all games were added or not. This tool is designed to be used with a full mame set, but I guess it could be used on an incomplete set too. You will need to create an XML list from Mame, and have a catver.ini file. This program works on a combined database. I am not sure if this will work if all your child roms are separated. Your additional applications must be in the default combined name. (ie: "Play Red Hawk (horizontal, Greece) Version...") if you do not have the Version with 3 . it will show missing. Also in a parent game Make sure you have the version of the game in the version field of launchbox. Anything in () is the version. If a game does not have a version that is fine. Everything is case and space sensitive. How to use Mame Check: 1. Make a copy of your LaunchBox database for mame in your Launchbox\Data\Platforms folder WARNING! While testing this i did get duplicate entries in my Launchbox database. I'm not sure how this happened as I don't know how to write to XML yet. I think what happened is I had the arcade.xml file loaded in Notepad++, and after LaunchBox updated the list, notepad interfered with it. PLEASE backup your Arcade xml file first just to be safe. 2. Open command prompt go to your mame folder type mame64.exe -listxml >213.xml 3. go to http://www.progettosnaps.net/catver/ click on download catlist, catver & genre extract catver.ini to your mame folder (NOTE: a new catver.ini file is not always available as soon as a new mame version. You might have to wait a few days for a new one!) 4. launch Mame/Launchbox checker loading the xml files can be done in any order. 5. click browse button for Mamelist XML location choose your xml file from mame folder 6. click browse button for Launchbox xml location choose Arcade.xml or Mame.xml file from your Launchbox\Data\Platforms folder (NOTE: It is the name of the platform you are using) 7.Click browse button for Catver.ini location choose catver.ini file from your mame folder and wait for a few minutes while it builds the mame filter. It can take up to 5 minutes or more! 8. You can hide genres from either launchbox or Mame it is better to hide from mame! Put a check box next to the generas you want to hide 9. Click Search button at the bottom. Program will show not responding, and icon will turn to loading icon while it is building the list. Grab a drink or play some games... this will take a while! It takes about 5 minutes or so on my slowish computer. you can copy the name from the cell by clicking the cell and pressing ctrl + c. then you can paste it into Launchbox game information. In this screen shot I am hiding all of the Whac-AMole games, and Utilities. There are actually more generas that are checked if you scroll up in the mame filter. The green Fields are what the games are labeled as in Mame. The yellow fields are games that are incorrect in LaunchBox. The red fields are games that are missing from launchbox. I list the rom that mame is expecting next to each name as sometimes mame changes the rom names. You can see if your parent or clone is incorrect. Here is a matching Launchbox database compared to what Mame has. Games listed in this salmon color have either been removed from Mame, or do not have the same genera as what Catver.ini have. Clones that have different genera than their parent will be listed here. The games listed in this screen shot will always be listed as they are mature clones of their parents or are test versions of the roms. I am new to programming, and this is my first program. It is not the prettiest program, and needs to be optimized better. But it is functional. Hopefully it helps some of you. To Do: 1. fix auto formating and stretching of the screens. 2. add duplicate removing functionality. 3. add auto backup of platform xml file. I am happy to share my source if anyone wants to improve this, or see what the program is doing.

Sorry for refreshing an old thread, but I came across this thread when looking for an answer for my problem with a gamepad in VICE core and I found a solution by accident so I decide to share it here. Maybe someone who went the same way would find it useful. Commodore 64 uses second port for the first player, so you need to use the second gamepad or use the following setting to have it on first port: Quick Menu > Options > Retro joy0 [ON]
