I dont emulate on android so i cant say for sure, i will say though that this is nothing to do with Launchbox itself. Launchbox would only care in the Launchbox UI, once you are in a game it's up to the emulator what peripherals are supported. Maybe try a different emulator, one that isnt going through Retroarch's input layers?

Great stuff. I will do. Thanks for the advice

Scroll lock on computer systems in retroarch should lock/unlock the keyboard to the emulator (as retroarch itself uses the keyboard for a lot of functions by default).
Thanks for that Neil. Although that didn't work with the last bluetooth keyboard I had from Amazon so I wondered if anyone can confirm this does work and also works with LB Android on a Shield - and, if so, what keyboard it works with.
Thanks for your help

Hi all,
I'd love to re-live some of my glory days on the Speccy and the Atari ST. I've got Android LB on my Nvidia Shield and it's working fine. I've managed to set up some non-keyboard Speccy games (i.e. using Retroarch and using the on-screen keyboard for selecting the joystick etc).
I did buy a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard for the Nvidia Shield but, although it seemed to work on the device for navigating the Shield menus etc, it wouldn't control anything in the games?
Does anyone know how to get this to work (either a specific type of keyboard or a setting on LB etc)? I would love to get some keyboard only games working on the Shield.
Thanks for your help.

Any chance in releasing this on Github? I would really like to be able to find the top Star Rated games from the community and get those games. Right now the only way is to add in a full set and sort by Star Ratings and then get rid of the crap. This is quite a challenge for systems like PS2/PS2/Wii/Gamecube, etc.
Hi there, unfortunately the software is nowhere near polished enough for any kind of release. And I wouldn't have a clue what to do with GitHub. It's extremely amateurish and I did used to have ambitions to polish it up and release it but I don't think it will ever get to that stage I'm afraid. Perhaps one of the plugin writers would be able to knock something up for you though to achieve your needs. I'm sure you're not the only one who would just want the 'cream of the crop' from the various systems. Good luck in your search

What sidebar filter are you on when starting?
Yep - that was where I started... I was on AAE and, sure enough, when I navigated to Box Front then some of the images were corrupt. I have the software backed up to a server that has the same issue. I've also checked my actual cab machine and that's the same too! (so this issue mustn't affect BB but only LB?). Luckily I've got an even older backup that I was planning on getting rid of and the images on that are fine so I'm now transferring them across but it's going to take a very long time as there's 158Gb of them!!
Thanks 🙂

Unfortunately the best way is to just put the old folder back and start adding underscores to folder names to hide them from LB and see where the issue appears. Most of the time I've heard this it's because of older malformed images tied to MAME games gotten from EmuMovies, I believe they've since been removed but if you haven't updated your media in a while it could potentially be the case. Does the error occur after selecting a specific game? With where this stack trace is showing I'd have assume it occurred when selecting a game, I'd just start with that game and remove the images to see if it fixes it, then potentially rescrape media on the platform that game is in.
No it's not a specific game. As soon as LB loads I get the error. Okay, I'll don my deerstalker and do a bit of investigation! I'll report back when I have something. Thank you 🙂

As stated, this is almost always an image file that is corrupted and NOT a hard drive issue. You can prove the theory by renaming your Images folder to _Images (with the app closed) and then open LaunchBox and see if you still run into the same issue.
Yes!! That was it. My apologies, when you said a corrupted image file in an earlier message I thought you meant a corrupted 'download' of the update (I was thinking like a snapshot image of a drive and not literally 'an image file').
So, next question is... do you have any ideas how I would find out which image is corrupted?
I have a marquee screen and have lots of images that I've created for it that aren't just on the LB image library so I can't just redownload everything from there?
Thanks for your help 🙂

I've just scanned my drive for errors just out of interest and there aren't any.

No problem. Hopefully someone will chime in with a possible fix. Thanks

Wow I thought it was only me.
I'm on the process of moving everything over into another hard drive to see if that's the issue.
I've tried reinstalling the update but to no avail.
Could you let me know how you get on with your other hard drive if you don't mind?

I'm having the exact same issue as you - running fully up-to-date Win 11
Here's some more of the text of the error.

Is that definitely Google doing that and not Launchbox? I've just looked in the .7z file that Haggie shared. I'd downloaded it and put it on my NAS and it shows correctly in there...

Hello All
Sorry for the long time between updates, but here are the latest files - lots of new slots & improved versions of old slots.
I've tidied up all the slot folders - no more backup files & unnecessary image files.
Sorry, but I can't upload the emulator - but it's available here https://www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/files/ (You'll need to join the site)

I wondered who is the main custodian of the database? I would like to request that all trailing 'spaces' (they may even be 'newline' characters) are removed from game titles please?
I've been through and edited about 100 of them today but it would be so much easier to just run a script that removes ALL of them in one go and would make the database much better for searching / displaying titles etc....
Who can I contact to make this request?
Thanks

I was just making some contributions and noticed that the next in line for moderation is this....
It is asking me to replace the current ReleaseYEAR with a Release'Date'.... my initial thought was to reject it (because the field is called 'Year' and not 'Date') but I thought I'd just check the actual game itself....
On the game entry it shows as Release Date...
Which would mean the modification is valid....
Before I accept/reject I just thought I'd ask the experienced mods what to do in this circumstance? The HTML text is showing "Date" but the database field name must be "Year" ?? What is actually wanted in this field?
Thanks 🙂

I'd verify that you don't have extra files that don't belong in your Data folder. We've seen this issue caused by files with "backup" in their filename located in the Data folder.
Nothing to see here.... move along please........
A MASSIVE thank you!!! That has sorted it!! I also had copies of the Quiz Machines xml in the Platform folder (Quiz Machines - copy.xml etc).
Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction for that one. I would have never got to the bottom of it without you.
Cheers

Hi all,
This is a strange one. I'm trying to sync my arcade cab software with my backup that I keep on my home PC.
I've copied everything over apart from the image cache folder (LB and BB) and Core / Backups folder.
On my arcade the games have the correct additional apps....
But on my main PC the additional apps are showing like this??
The Platform is called "Quiz Machines" so I've tried copying the Quiz Machines.xml from the arcade to the main machine but to no avail.
I've even copied the entire Data folder from the arcade cab to the main PC but it didn't help either?
So, does anyone know where it's storing the info to tell LB that it needs to overwrite my Quiz Machines.xml with this old version of the additional apps?
Thanks for your help - it's driving me nuts!

Found this topic as I would also like to know the answer to this?
Thanks

** Edit ** - found them - for anyone else in the same boat, they're here --> https://www.launchbox-app.com/android-license
Hi all,
I've just bought an Nvidia Shield and installed LB. I've set anything up yet as I'm still working it all out (read: watching YouTube videos).
But I thought I'd buy a license for it (I already have a lifetime license for my cab but would like a separate one for the Shield to support Jason and the team).
On the license page it just says "Windows Licensing Options" and doesn't mention Android?
Is this just a throwback to the time when there wasn't an Android version or are the Android licenses hiding somewhere else??
Thanks 🙂

awesome 🤣 It really dosent bother me in the slightest about the scores i was just looking for some clarity really, im an old school gamer in his fifties and im really only interested in the arcade and a few systems like the megadrive and snes which i used to play years ago im not really competetive but its good to see your name sometimes on the high score chart.
Sounds like we're cut from the same cloth mate. I'm the same

Personally, I'm a much more "chill" player. I really love the high scores but in a casual way. Whenever you introduce some sort of scoring/measuring system into anything then there will be people who will either try and fudge the system or will go to extremes in order to be at the top spot. Good luck to them I say.
If someone really wants to spend 9 hours playing a single game then they can. I always mentally discount ridiculous scores anyway as I couldn't (and probably wouldn't want to) compete with that. I normally look for the scores around my level and those are my rivals.... I finish a game of Frogger and find that I'm only 300 points off beating "TurktheGreat" then I'm chucking in another virtual coin and going again.... that's where the fun is for me.
Scores of 1,343,553 by "NeverhadaFriend" are not going to be of concern to me.
If these things *do* bother people then the answer is to introduce an "Ultimate Scores" board that filters out the top 5 or so ? of the global high scores, removes them from the main board and puts them on their own high score board. This would filter cheaters and people with mega-large scores and leave the rest of the board for 'normal' players. It would also please the 'extreme' players to vie for top spot on the Ultimate Board!

Sega Model 2 not saving nvram

I know this is an old topic but it would be remiss of me not to say a big thank you for posting this.
I can now finally save my high scores in Sega Rally. And, hopefully, one day, knock "Poo" off the top spot!!
