I have a setup similar to C-Beats but mine includes sub platform for all the add on consoles or unique things available in emulators like NES HD games or SNES widescreen games.

    - Platform Category (Console, Handheld, etc)
         - Platform Manufacturer (Sony, Nintendo, etc)
              - Platform (Genesis, SNES, NES, etc)
                - Sub Platform (Sega CD, 32x, FDS, N64DD, NES HD, etc)

I also like to manually add fan translations and some hacked games to my collection but I merge them with the original game and add all the credits, version number, patch release date, etc. to custom fields. it's very time consuming but I like the end result.

Ohhh!! I like the idea of Sub-Platforms and I think I will apply them to my collection.

One doubt. With handhelds, do you include the "color" versions (like Game Boy, WonderSwan or NeoGeo Pocket) as Platform or Sub-Platform? They are different consoles, but also they are a kind of enhanced version. 🤔

  2. I like to use playlists, especially the automatic playlists. I have 270 for game collections (I called "series" because it sounds more natural to me), although I have to revise them when adding new systems.

Also I have a collection for the games played in each year, and my last "project" is a playlist for each arcade board, although its progres is very slowly 😅

  3. It's hard to stick with just one topic to ask. One of the things I love about Launchbox is its database. I would like to know if are there plans to add other platforms in the near future? It would be great to have information about systems like J2ME, BREW, Symbian, Gizmondo, Super Vision 8000, Amstrad PCW, dedicated handheld or other systems. And as a fan of the history of consoles and computers, also I would like to know how unknown systems (at least to me) like EACA EG2000 Color Genie, Exidy Sorcerer, Hector HRX, Jupiter ACE, Memotech MTX512, Spectravideo or Tomy Tutor were included. It has helped me to know about new systems. Thanks to all team for their great work!!

    • Pro Evolution 6: Some friends, some pizzas, some beers and this game, was all that you needed to enjoy a good weekend.

  4. I don't know if this is the idea of these lists, but the first thing that comes to mind is the game collections (Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Final Fantasy, Asterix & Obelix, Pacman, 007, Civilization, God of War and so many more). The truth is that there are an infinite number of them. 😅

On the other hand, maybe a list of Bizarre Games (Seaman, Bread Simulator, Hatoful Boyfriend, Power Diggerz, Mister Mosquito or Boogerman for example), or of lists of games set in certain regions or eras: Ugh-games (prehistorik games like Bonk's games, Far Cry Primal, The Flinstones, ARK, Disney Dinosaurs...), Japan (Ghost of Tsutsima, Tenchu, Like a Dragon, Yakuza...), WWII (Company of Heroes, Call of Duty, Battlefiled 1942...). In seasonal games, there could be Halloween or Christmas games or event games (games based on movies that won the Oscars with the Oscars, Olympic games, World Cups, Champions League with the finals, American football with the Super Bowl, F1 games wit the start of season, Dakar games, educational games with back to school, romantic games on Valentine's Day...).

  5. Great idea!!!

    My Top5:

    • Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System): It's the game of my childhood 👶
    • Dynamite Headdy (Mega Drive): A wonderful platform. Alien Soldier is considered the Trasure's masterpiece, but for me is this beautiful platform 🤩
    • Age of Empires II (PC): The work done with the Definite Edition is tremendously good, but it's difficult to me not include the original game. PD: Initially, I played it on PS2 with controller and put many hours into it 🙈
    • Final Fantasy X (PS2): The game that changed my way of understanding the video games (and the first one that made me shed some tears) 😅
    • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch): The game I always end up coming back to ❤️

  6. Thanks for your response!!

I had read that some Android emulators could have privacy risks. That's why I had doubts. I will try your recommendation. Thanks again!!! ☺️

  7. Hi!!!

I'm looking for any Android emulator for Windows that have support with Launchbox , but there's a lot of contradictory information about the security of many of them.

I don't know if anyone can shed some light and recommend an emulator that works without problems and safely.

  8. Hi!!!

When I try to edit a platform wich folder path of games is an external hard drive not connected (for example G:\), gives an error message and Launchbox is closed.

    image.thumb.png.3889b6648c2aa726fa9be16a797f5eee.png

The error text says: "The directory could not be created: G:\....  Please make sure you have the appropriate permissions to create the specific folder and that the folder path is valid. This may also be a cause of a hard drive or system failure. Launchbox cannot continue."

    7) Classify Windows game into specific platform (3x, 95, 98, XP, Vista, etc) As an option it would be nice to automatically import Windows games to the era-specific Windows version it belongs to.

This is interesting although difficult because the same game works for several versions of Windows. I've been long time wanting to separate the Windows 9x games (95/98/ME) from the rest of Windows games, at least with a playlist. However, I haven't been able to find this information anywhere.

I take advantage of this to ask if anyone know any page or database where show the games that have been released for each version of Windows or at least that indicate the "requirements" of the games?

Not related to beta. Was an issue on the web database side of things that has been resolved. You will have to force update your games database to see the new data.

Ok, I didn't know if it was related to the beta or not. When I updated the database, all companies appeared correctly. Thanks!!! ☺️

  11. Hi!! Checking some strange data on some Steam games, I've detected many duplicate Windows games with small differences (I think due to the different name on Steam, GOG and the cover).

My question is what main name should be used, considering that the game will not be linked automatically if main name is not Steam name (correct me if I'm wrong).

    For example:
    - Cover name: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/12816)
    - Steam Name: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Game of the Year Edition (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/376101)

Does the cover name take priority as the rules indicate, or does the Steam name for its correct link?

  12. A very little error. When you have pending to validate the deletion of any entry, they aren't counted in "Total Pending Changes" section in "My Account".

And a little suggestion. I think it would be interesting an option to filter the pending, approved and rejected modifications (especially the rejections to learn from the mistakes).

  13. Hi!!

I just read it and it's something that happened to me in several occasions.

If you copy the Publisher or Development information from pages like MobyGames or Steam, and select a bit more that the text, the tabulator must be copied (or something like that). When you paste it, shouldn't show any error, but when you save the info, is when it fails. I assume it is trying to search in Publisher/Development something named "tabulator" and cause the error from that part onwards.

In my case, by being careful, it hasn't happened again

  14. Hi!!

I've detected that Launchbox only identifies Steam games automatically if that Windows game have a Steam link in the database like this:

    image.thumb.png.cc4c3219e8cf8cc1480a0229495bc813.png

There're some games that exist on Steam (some quite well-known like Left 4 Dead or some Half-Life), that don't have the Steam link in the Launchbox database, but I don't see any field to add this information. I can't detected the option to add this information for new Windows games that didn't exist in the Launchbox database.

Does anyone know how to add this information?
