Hi.
In LaunchBox, I’m having an issue with the mouse wheel when using playlists sorted by anything other than the "Default" option. If I scroll down a bit and try to scroll back up, it doesn't go all the way to the top as shown in the video. It makes a move to climb all the way to the top, but gets blocked at the second or third line. If I change that same playlist's sort order to "Default," it scrolls up and down the entire list without issues (second part of the video).
This is happening to me with Beta 4, but it was already happening with Beta 2. I use the Omni theme and a Bluetooth mouse, just in case that has any effect.

Hi. There is an error in the relationship between a game in the DB and its Steam ID.
-
Apotheon: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/29571
- The Steam ID it links to is for a different game.
- It should link to: https://store.steampowered.com/app/208750/Apotheon/
-
At Home Alone: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/382250
- The Steam ID it links to secnd part.
- It should link to: https://store.steampowered.com/app/964350/At_Home_Alone/
Thanks!!

While reviewing the new eXo package released for Windows 9X, I had a question about the Game Type for Freeware/Shareware games. Would they be Homebrew, Unlicensed, or simply Released? I see some logic in all three options.

Playlists: RetroAchievements Events (xml & icons)
View File
Hi everyone.
First of all, this is my first time sharing playlists. I hope the files are correct and work for other LB users.
As a RetroAchievements user, I found it interesting to do playlists about the RA Events. These playlists include a little description about the event with the list of the games, the games for each event and their corresponding icons.
There are two types of playlists:
- Auto, for permanents events or events whose order of play is irrelevant (The Unwanted, PlayJam or Tributes). Here, the games are added according to their ID.
- Manual, for events whose order of the games is relevant (AotW, Roulette or RAD). Current events are sorted from most recent to oldest and past events are sorted in reverse.
The Playlists available for 2025 events are:
- 🐍 Achievement of the Week 2025
- 🕹️ Achievement of the Week 2025: E3
- 📚 Achievement of the Week 2025: Back To School
- 🎲 Roulette 2025
- 🆕 RAD 2025
- 📊 Leaderboard of the Month 2025
- 🐦 The Unwanted: Month 63
- 🐦 The Unwanted: Month 64
- 🐦 The Unwanted: Month 65
- 🐦 The Unwanted: Month 66
- ⌨️ PlayJam Season 8: MSX
- 💰 Bounty Hunters: Villains
- ❄️ 2024 Event: RetroAchievemas
- 👨💼 2025 Event: Satoru Iwata Memorial
- 🏁 2025 Event: 75 Years of F1 RAcing
- 🎃 2025 Event: Halloween'25: Escape the Forest of Demotion
- 🥋 2025 Event: RA-Tality
- 💿 Launch Event PS2
The Playlists available for events of past years are:
- 🎲 Roulette 2023
- 🎲 Roulette 2024
- 📊 Leaderboard of the Month 2023
- 📊 Leaderboard of the Month 2024
- 💯 PlayJam Season 1: SG-1000
- 🌐 PlayJam Season 2: Saturn
- ⚙️ PlayJam Season 3: PC Engine
- 🕹️ PlayJam Season 4: Arcade
- 🖥️ PlayJam Season 5: PC-80/88
- 🍏 PlayJam Season 6: Apple II
- 💿 PlayJam Season 7: Sega CD & 32
Instructions:
- XML Files: Unzip ".Event RA - .............. XML.7z" and save the xml files in: ....\LaunchBox\Data\Playlists\
- Icons Files: Unzip "Icon Playlists RA Events 2025.7z" and save the png files in: ....\LaunchBox\Images\Media Packs\Platform Icons\Legacy Conversion Icon Pack\Playlists\
I'll be updating the playlists weekly with new games and gradually adding events from past years.

How did you update a game's metadata? Edit the game and make a change, run the metadata and media wizard? Do you remember the options you chose? A specific example would help us test this.
It's strange, it doesn't happen with all games. And I don't see a pattern.
Example: "Pokemaze" for Nintendo Pokemon Mini (ID 460420).
It says the last time played was 08/24/2025.
I click on edit, search for metadata, select the one in the LB database, and accept.
It automatically deletes the last time played. If I only change the file name, the same thing happens.
-If I do the same for Wild Riders (Arcade, ID:40602), Dragster (Atari 2600, ID:22154) or Ultra Vortek (Jaguar, ID: 3988), the same error occurs
-If I do the same for Jeanne d'Arc (PSP, ID:7088), Mario Power Tennis (GBA ID:7522), Sonic Classic Collection (DS, ID:18931) or Wirehead (Sega CD, ID:157532), there is no error and it keeps the date.
In both cases, there are games that, when updating the metadata, change some information or don't change anything.
PD: When the date disappears, the <LastPlayedDate> line for that game in the XML disappears.
-
In Launchbox, when I update a game's metadata, the "Last Played Date" is removed. I don't know if it's related to the beta version (13.24 beta-1), but this didn't happen to me before.

My Retroachievements API is back up and running in LB!!
-
Hi!! Until yesterday, RA achievements had been working without problems in LB, but suddenly it stopped working. Checking the options, I discovered that the Retroachievements API was incorrect. I filled out all the information again (username, password, and API key), but it still shows that the API is incorrect. I also tried changing it in RA, but the new one still gives the same error.
Any idea what could be causing the error?

@LahrsThank you so much for your reply. You've mentioned several interesting things I didn't know. I'll try what you mentioned to see how it works

Hi!! I have an iMac with Windows installed on a partition of about 200 GB. I run LaunchBox from a 2 TB SSD (where I also have installed PC and store games) and I have the ROMs on two 6 TB HDDs, which I can't always have connected because I have other SSDs and HDDs for saving and editing photos and videos for work.
It's a pain having to keep switching between hard drives for gaming (and for working with photos and videos), so I was thinking about buying a NAS system. I don't know much about these systems, so I had some doubts about how it works with LaunchBox.
- Will there be slowdowns if I play with the ROMs on the NAS, especially on more demanding systems (PS2, Wii U, PS3...)?
- Thinking about using the NAS for two computers, will LB work correctly if I install it completely on the NAS or is it better to have it on the SSD and use the NAS only for the ROMs?
- Will PC games run fine if I install them on the NAS? (I play on a Mac, obviously I'm not aspiring to run Cyberpunk at 4K 60fps 🤣)
- Finally, any recommendations for any minimum characteristics I should keep in mind to avoid making a mess? 😅
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for adding these platforms. Now our RA collections will be fully complete! 😊😊
By the way, do these platforms have a developer company (like Nintendo, Sony, Sega, Philips, etc.)? On the other platforms, I have the "full" name added, and seeing these with just one name gives me a bit of OCD. 😅

Changes made when adding the Wikipedia URL are not showed once approved. If multiple fields are changed or added, the Wikipedia URL is the only field not showed.
I add screenshots of some examples:

Two doubts about Playlist Auto-Populate:
- Can I search for information in the Application/ROM Path in additional application? This is to have an automatic list of games on itchio or other stores/ROMs, when my main version is one from Steam or GOG.
- I'm preparing automatic lists of series based on their titles. Is it possible to filter by a field that contains one word and excludes another? For example, the Call of Duty series: contain "Call of Duty" while exclude "Commandos" so that "Commandos: Call of Duty" doesn't appear.

I've only had a little issue with RetroAchievements achievements: Launchbox dont' show the achievements when the platforms between RetroAchievements and Launchbox are differents.
For example: the Othello Multivision games are integrated into the SG-1000 platform in RA. The ROMs loaded into Launchbox using the Othello Multivision platform don't show the achievements. However, if they are loaded into the SG-1000 platform, they show the achievements correctly.
The same happens with Nintendo DSi, Nintendo Satellaview, WonderSwan Color, Neo Geo Pocket Color, NEC SuperGrafx, PSP Mini or Nintendo 64DD games.

Zip files are almost never required or of any real help. This is especially true for cart based systems where the ROM files are already extremely small. Zipping them just adds more process overhead before you can use the file. If the emulator has to unzip before reading the file it can also wear out SSDs because you have to write to the disk so much more often. CD based systems all have compressed file types that don't require the entire file be uncompressed to read and should be used to save space. Extensions like CHD, RVZ, CISO, etc.
One question. I've converted PS2 and PSP ISO files to CHD files, but Launchbox doesn't detect the achievements of most of them. However, when playing them in their corresponding emulators, it does detect the achievements.
Is this a limitation of Launchbox (as it happened with RVZ files) or maybe there is something I'm doing wrong?

That could do it, if that's the case for everyone, that should be fixed internally already.
With the last version which appeared today, the achievements and metadata of all platforms work correctly. Thanks for this solution so quick!!!!

We've ran some extensive testing, but just simply cannot get achievements to not scan properly across multiple accounts, so this might be something on your end. Try and remove your RetroAchievement credentials within the options menu. Restart LaunchBox and then add them back in. Not sure if that will help, but you never know.
I have the same problem that other users comment: NES and SNES games don't detect Retroarchievement achievements and database metadata. For these platforms, I have the name changed to "Nintendo NES" and "Nintendo SNES".
When I add the same games again but keeping the original name of the platforms ("Nintendo Entertainment System" and "Super Nintendo Entertainment System"), it detects the achievements and metadata correctly.

I'll try and set this up on my launchbox setup tonight. Looking forward to see Java added to the database
Edit: No Idea how to get retroarch to run these, but the database part works just fine, all 7 games showed up and the system popped up instantly
In retroarch, it should work with MAME libreto, but I haven't been able to get it working yet.
In case it helps you, it works in MAME if you add this code:
sv8000 -cartTo made it work is very important to save the file "sv8000.zip" in the folder "roms" inside the folder where MAME is installed.

I know very little about xml and sql databases, but enough to know that making that change must have been a huge job. I just wanted to leave this message to thank all the team for that great work. 🙌

Hi Folks,
I wanted to provide a quick update on this thread.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on a new method for adding platforms to the database. Previously, this process was quite manual and rigid, requiring direct database edits. However, we’ve been investing in a more streamlined front-end interface that allows for quicker and easier additions.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been testing this new system, and we just implemented a new platform using it as a trial run.
That platform is the Bandai Super Vision 8000
It would be great if anyone could test adding this new platform to your build, as well as contributing some information and games to the database. This will help confirm that the new system is working as expected. If everything checks out, we’ll be in a great position to start adding platforms much more quickly, eliminating the bottleneck that previously slowed our progress.
Please let me know if you have any feedback on the new system. Hopefully, we’re on track to start adding many of the long-standing requested platforms soon!
Cheers,
I've tried adding some games of Bandai Super Vision 8000 to the database, and everything went well. Some games are pending validation, but those that have already been validated, have all the information added.
In Launchbox, I had the platform already created with the games. When I updated the games information, those that have data in the database were updated. I have also tried deleting the platform and creating it again. and everything has gone well too. My only problem is that I deleted the icon by mistake and now I can't find a way to get it back 😅
I hope this information is helpful to you. And thank you very much for adding this new platform. It's a joy to be able to have more games with all their information and well organized!!! 👏👏👏

Hi!!
I have a question that arose when I was reorganizing the MAME games. Are slots machines considered games to add to the Arcade database?
My opinion is that they shouldn't be, and if they have to be added, they should have an independent platform like Pinball games, but that's only my opinion.

Multi-disc for windows games

For emulators, .m3u files allow you to load multiple .iso files for multi-disc games, but how can I mount multiple .iso files on the Windows platform?
