These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God. Matthew 15:8-9 (NLT)
Lord, help me to recognize your direction, and ignore the direction of all others. Give me discernment to identify your will, and the strength to carry it out.

When Jesus heard this, he said, "Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do." Then he added, "Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: 'I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.' For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners." Matthew 9:12-13
These were the words of Jesus after being confronted by the Pharisees about hanging out with "scum" people. Jesus chose to hang out with people with problems; people like me, with addictions and so many other issues, because it's the broken who need and are willing to accept grace and forgiveness from the Lord. We can rejoice in our problems knowing that they will help us to grow closer to the Lord out of our need for his help.

Trust in the lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

I am constantly reminded that the Lord's direction is not only the best, but is crucial for my own life and for LaunchBox as a whole. When I obey the Lord's direction, even if it seems to defy logic at the time, I am immensely successful. History proves that I am not able to do this on my own, as my own approaches have led to failure.
It is both an incredible relief and extremely encouraging to know that my life and this business are guided by the Lord, with his endless knowledge and perfect character.

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. Romans 8:31-34 (NLT)
Lord, be my direction, my guide, my will, my hope, and my focus today. Your love is endless and amazing, and I will worry about nothing since you are guiding my path. Your mercy knows no bounds, and your grace is more than enough for me. I want nothing more than to follow you today.

I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT)
My life runs on answered prayer, and I crave answers from the Lord. The more I receive, the more I want and need his direction and will for my life.

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Matthew 7: 1-5 (NLT)
Today I'm reminded that judgement sucks. I hate being judged and usually do a good job not judging others, but not always. I pray that I can be humble and refrain from judging anyone for their life situation, their actions, or their words.

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew 11:28-30
I am weary and do carry heavy burdens; I receive my rest from the Lord. My relationship with Jesus turns meaningless, wearisome toil into productivity and purpose. Life has not been made easy for me, but rather I have been given a great sense of accomplishment and desire to continue to work for the Lord.

My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them, for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace. They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble. You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly. You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Proverbs 3:21-26 (NLT)
I am not burdened with fear, as I know the Lord will continue to provide me with security and strength. The Lord's discernment is always available and always correct.

But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” Matthew 8:20
Received a reminder today that following Jesus is not always easy or comfortable. The cost of following Christ is high, and contains no earthly rewards or security. Sometimes I am fooled into thinking that I am guaranteed earthly blessings by following the Lord; I am not. But the value of being Christ's disciple is higher than any benefits I could receive here on earth.

Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble. Psalm 119:165 (NLT)
Lord, teach me to love your instructions. Show me peace through them and remove all stumbling blocks from my life. Help me to live for you without doubt, fear, resistance, or mistakes.

I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94:18-19 (NLT)
This verse comes to me in the middle of temptation, but the Lord is surrounding me with his love and picking me up out of the fray.
