  1. Just wanted to add my own personal experience and thoughts here, as I've always been fascinated with the Ti99 but have had some frustration with getting it emulated. Today, I was able to get it running with both the classic99 emulator and mame. For mame, I used the following default command line parameters (within the associated platforms menu) and the only games that worked were in "rpk" format. Also, be sure to have the appropriate bios files.

ti99_4a -ioport peb -ioport:peb:slot3 speech -cart

Classic99 seems to be a much more 'complete' emulator for the Ti99, as it played every file format I threw at it, including the ".c" and ".g" extensions

Hope that helps out in some way

  2. Very nice and looking forward to trying this out! But just one question, why does the floor look like astro-turf? Maybe it's just me, but the carpet color may need to be changed.

I attached a pic of what I'm trying to describe. Sorry for any confusion.

Based on my own personal experience, you'll have to adjust the video settings in Retroarch and save them (Core Override) for each platform-system. However, you'll have some issues with a few systems' bezels like the Atari 2600. Unfortunately, the games all have different resolutions based on each game's manufacturer. For example, the resolution on the Activision games like Pitfall and River Raid have slightly different resolutions than other games, which means your bezels will look slightly off unless you configure them by game. With that being said, you might want to try the bezel project which is built in with Launchbox or you can find it here

Awesome guys! I will try and let you know!
Also, just double checking that there is no way to get it through the parameters in Lunchbox then?

Probably not, unless the program itself (Zelda Enhanced) has command line features that could be used. It's made with GameMaker and I don't see any documentation there regarding command line, so you'll have to find another solution like the one @skizzosjt mentioned

But will take a .bat command as last resort.

Have you tried using a script? You could add something like this (below) to the area where it says "Running Script". However, this only works when editing emulators, and I'm not sure how to use this with a single game

    Send {Alt Down}{Enter}{Alt Up}

Noob here. I'm doing pretty good with everything. Except.... When I try to load a game up in launchbox using duckstation (PS1) I get the following error...  "Failed to load CD image 'Driver.chd' :[13]: Permission denied"

But when I open just Duckstation, the games load up without problems or issues. It's only when I go from Launchbox.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Try typing the following in default command line parameters for duckstation

    -batch

Also, you'll need to set to "open in fullscreen" within duckstation's options

  7. That CPU should be more than sufficient for your needs in terms of retro gaming, although you might want to upgrade the ram to 16gb. Then, you won't have any stutters with some of the more modern systems like Gamecube, PS2, PSP, etc.

  8. It's also worth noting that there are a few other options available. I've also tried ReshadeManager for a few systems, and this one works nicely with PCSX2:

As for RocketLauncher, I gave up on that program years ago. It's great for what it does, but these LaunchBox plugins are way more simple to use

Thank you! I’ll give it a try! Seems like if a plug in can support bezels that Bigbox could too? But I know nothing about coding so I leave it to the experts to know best.

No problem! It works with both Launchbox and BigBox as far as I know. But you'll have to set it up within Launchbox's plugin menu first

  10. You might want to try this:

It's a plugin designed for emulators which don't have bezel-functionality (unlike retroarch and mame). I've tried it with the emulator Citra and it works pretty well.

  11. This tutorial is a little old (2019) but it should still work with Mame and Astrocade. Also, it can be applied to the other systems you requested. Basically, you need to have the appropriate bios for those systems in your "roms" folder. Hope it helps.

And here's one for the Channel F system

hello ladies and gents, im working on building my retro collection using launchbox with retroarch.  im having difficulty trying to figure out which cores work with these systems.

    Bally astrocade

    Casio PV-1000

    commodore Amiga

For the first two (Astrocade and Casio PV-1000), you'll need to use the standalone version of Mame. You can try the mame core within Retroarch for those but it's much easier to use the standalone version of Mame instead. Those two systems are software list games for Mame, so it's more of a hassle while using the Retroarch core. As for the Amiga, you can use the puae libretro core in Retroarch

  13. Fantastic work and another great update! What would be nice is if the platforms text-list had something else there. There's a lot of space with only information about the platform (Atari 2600, Sony Playstation 2, etc.) but it would be nice to fill up all that empty space with either an image of the platform or a platform-video. Here's a render I threw together with a 'before' and 'after' using the idea I suggested. If the CTC files are available then I'd probably be able to customize this in there. Only hoping on this one of course :)

You are right - I downgraded after getting hit with the Options menu bug but the beta does fix the above.

The latest official version, released earlier today, should fix the problem with the LaunchBox options menu-window. Thanks a lot to @faeran and the rest of the LB team for getting this resolved quickly!

I am curious why "THE FIX" in the last beta fixed some and didn't fix others? Do myself and @shadoweez have something in common that the others didn't have?

    specs:

    Win10
    Nvidea 1080ti
    Dual 4k monitors
    non-standard media locations

gotta be something I would think????

    Anyone have any ideas?

Having the same issue here. With beta 5 and beta 6, LaunchBox crashes when I try to access the options. I tried the fix which @The Papaw mentioned but it gives me the same error as @shadoweez Also, I turned on debug mode, but no log appears after the crash.
