There seems to be some issues with RetroAchievements again.  I usually scan my games weekly so anything added on the site is populated onto my list on LaunchBox.  2 days ago, I did a scan  and many of my games that have been detected are no longer detected.  Over half of my games are still detected, but more specifically, consoles like SNES, Genesis, NES have zero games on their list now.  These games have the same hash as before, and have worked well up through the most recent update where I've ran into problems.  I can launch RetroArch and the games all my games still show achievement support there, but about half my consoles are having this issue currently.  Consoles that are still working fine are Playstation 1 and 2, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn and several others.  It's really hit or miss.

Please see the post linked here. I think @C-Beats did some changes to the database so try updating the metadata to see if this fixes your issue.

  2. I am not sure if this is beta related or not since retro achievements have been hooked back up. One thing I have noticed is that some (not all) of my games are showing that they do not have a retro achievement available on the side details bar in LaunchBox even though they do according to the retro achievement website. I have compared the hash of my games to the hash on the retro achievement website and it matches perfectly. One example of a game is Bangai-O for the Sega Dreamcast so I looked in my Dreamcast .xml file and noticed that the retro achievements hash did not match the hash that was on the retro achievements website so that's probably why no achievements showed up for that particular game. I am assuming that the hash that is in the xml file is what is pulled from their website, so not sure why that hash did not match the one from their website? I have also ran a complete rescan of all my games for retro achievements in LB and it is still pulling back some wrong hashes from certain games when I compare them to the hash on the retro achievement website as they do not match up.

One other thing to note is when I just run the game through Retroarch and not LB it detects that I have the correct hash and shows the achievements that are available.

  3. Its looking good Jason. I am sure it is fun building it as I had a lot of fun building mine. I'm jealous of the nice size workshop as well. Looks like a beast of an arcade cabinet and will probably be heavy but vey robust. I am not sure if you are putting it in the house or not but it looks like it might be getting close to house door width size.🙂Also interior doors can vary in width from exterior doors as well.

@Rlad @kmoney @cor094 Are there certain views you see it with more often than others? Also what video playback engine are you using? WMP or VLC?

I have been using the Unified CTC theme using platform view 2 using VLC lately. I really haven't tried any other themes other than the default and I could not reproduce the issue with the default theme. But I also have not used the default theme as much either. I think it is going to be a tough nut to crack because it is random and like was mentioned earlier it only happens about 20 percent of the time. I also think it only happens randomly when I don't have "Skip Game Details Screen View" checked in the options as well.

  5. My controls issue with the keyboard/controller appears to be fixed in beta 7 along with the game view videos resuming correctly with "Skip Game Details View" unchecked in the settings. The platform view videos does not always resume when exiting from the game view screen but does the majority of the time. The CD not resuming spinning in certain game views with "Skip Game Details View" unchecked must be theme specific because the cd spinning does resume correctly with Unified and Unified Redux that I tested but not with Unified CTC.

  6. It is definitely some kind of controller/keyboard issue with beta 5 and 6. When I use my keyboard on those betas several inputs do not work. When I use my 360 controller it works way better but not perfect. For example I will get a double button press will register vs a single button press when I skip the startup video sending me to the game view instead of the platform view. Also when you update through BigBox the Update box takes up the whole screen where as previously the box was smaller.

Beta 6 is out now with the following:

    • Behavior has been added to allow for vertically centering the selected item in Big Box themes (for theme developers)
    • The CurrentDateTime binding has been added to Big Box (for theme developers)
    • Other miscellaneous changes to the Default theme
    • Fix for potential compatibility errors with some older themes

Please let us know if you guys are still getting the same startup errors in beta 6 @kmoney @bbweiners @Suhrvivor. I'm thinking there may have been an issue with the upload of beta 5, because our testing hasn't run into any of those issues.

Yes I am still having same issues in beta 6. None of my controls work like pressing a button to bypass startup video or ESC which is set to my back button. The arrow keys work however to scroll the wheel. I roll back to beta 4 and do not have the startup issues.

@kmoney @Suhrvivor When you get the chance can you grab the latest beta and let us know if you're still encountering the issues you posted about?

I had to roll back to beta 4 because beta 5 I was only able to test one time because most of my controls would not work on beta 5 and I had to kill BIgBox in task manager on multiple occasions. The one time I was able to test it looked like the videos in the game view was resuming correctly upon exiting a game but the platform view would not resume correctly the majority of the time until I moved the wheel. Also I noticed that the game views that had the cd spinning  did not resume spinning as well upon exiting a game until I moved the wheel. This is also all with the "Skip Game Details Screen" unchecked

  9. One thing I noticed while having VLC chosen as the media player in BigBox. When you exit out of a game, the game video autoplays on the game details screen but then when you exit out of the game details screen into the regular game view the video does not autoplay until you move the wheel to another game. The videos do autoplay correctly however if you have WMP chosen as the media player or have the "Skip Game Details Screen" chosen as an option. This might have been going on for a while and did not notice since I have skip game details screen chosen most of the time.

    How much faster?

I did not time it but have a AMD 5900x so it was fast already but I even noticed a 3 to 4 second decrease in startup time and in my arcade cabinet with a 8700K probably about the same decrease, maybe a little more. Both LaunchBox installs on a ssd hard drive.

is therHe a way to make things easy for us to import games in our lunch box because is very annoying that I have to keep on importing each game for the PlayStation 3 emulator for big box did you guys know that their rpcs3 website carries all the information's and locations for their games including their ID numbers for there games and everything so is there anyway we can make LB to import All the games at once than doing it one by one and make LB A lot easier than forcing us to keep on taking it to the eboot.bin ?

    PS

because it's very frustrating an annoying that I have to keep on adding one game at a time for lunch box to read the PlayStation 3 games it's really annoying can you please find a way or make it happen where we take our life easier for the PlayStation 3 games

    Have you looked into this?

  12. Yes actually the developer that was managing the libretro core for Duckstation has stepped away and not pushed any updates to the core in a while, so the Retroarch team has decided to put there main focus back on the Swanstation core again and has been pushing a lot of updates the last couple of months to the core. At least on the windows side so I am assuming the same for Android.

    • Improvement: Big Box's Change View binding now brings up a selection menu (similar to the Change Theme binding).

I am really liking this improvement as you will not have to cycle through all the views if you have a hotkey assigned to the change view button.
