  1. This is only necessary for arcade, again because selecting MAME as the emulator on import triggers LB to give you a lot of extra importing options, so you want to do that (as opposed to just setting up RL as the emulator from the beginning). So import with MAME as the emulator, and then after import, in LB hit control + A to select all the games, right click, and select Edit. This will let you Bulk Edit all of the games at once. Then just change the emulator from MAME to Rocketlauncher.

  2. The only emulator I have in LB is rocket launcher, and mame. You should actually import your mame roms with a mame emulator set up in LB because it triggers the mame importer options. Then just bulk edit mame roms to use rocketlauncher.

  3. Maybe something has changed since I did it. When I switched to the LB plugin none of my systems showed up in RL anymore. But instead of adding them to RL directly, I added them to launchbox and RL autoimports them. I just mean rom lists. It's backwards from what I was used to. Import roms unto LB. Open RL, imported roms show up, set emulator.

  4. If you already know how to use RL, there's no reason not to. The only thing that's different is that instead of importing system into rocketlauncher which would then show in hyperspin, you're going to import into Launchbox which will then show in rocketlauncher.

  5. So if you delete all the games for a system and then reimport, you shouldn't have to redownload anything. The only thing that should be checked on import is "match with LB database", uncheck everything else and it should automatically sync up with all your existing art and metadata. You may have to go into the LB menu up top and "refresh art", but that's it.

  6. 7 different languages, wow. Alright, he's my recommendation. Open Launchbox select your system, go to Tools, and then Audit. Let it do its thing. This audits a lot of things... duplicates etc. but it also audits your art. If you scroll over the columns you can sort the list by box art... or video... whatever you want. Scroll down until you see 0s by the box art. Select all the games with no art. Right click, then select edit. This will bring up the Bulk Edit Wizard. In the dropdrop, click "hide", this should be bring up a hide checkbox. Check it, and then and go through the next few screens.

This will effectively "hide" every game without boxart for a system. You can "Unhide all games" via the launchbox menu whenever you want, but if you're just doing casual scrolling it will only show games with boxart. It looks better, in other words. But, if you find a particular game for another region that you want to have displayed, you can just unhide that game, and do a search for the art. If it comes up with some, awesome. If it doesn't, you'll have to make the art yourself. That's about all you can do. Remember that the LaunchBox Database is a community project and is by no means finished. And also remember that the creation of the art itself has been a "retro" community volunteer project for years. Some art might not exist at all.

  7. You're not going to like it, but I would recommend against using good sets, or any sets with multiple roms in one zip. That's always going to cause confusion. The easiest solution to this is to get a no intro pack and use that. Then, if you want, you can make a seperate platform for the different regions or game hacks etc. What you're wanting seems like it would sort of disrupt the point of using a front end to launch.

Having said that, I'm not exactly sure how the new feature that just released "combines" games. I haven't used it yet. But it might work just like you're asking. You'd have to unzip the roms and import them all side by side and let launchbox combine them. (However, look into the feature more, I think its more meant for games with multiple disks).

  8. So I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "point the emulator to that folder". Unless you got a weird/bad dump, the cue file should point the emulator where it needs to go.

If you mean that you imported them as zips in Launchbox, and now you want to point launchbox to the cues, the easiest way I know of is to delete your games in launchbox, and reimport using the trick of searching the window with your roms in it for ".cue" and then dragging all the results into launchbox. You shouldn't have to redownload any artwork either after the reimport.

  9. Platform Banners Organized

    View File

Disclaimer: I did not create any of these files. Special thanks goes out to Scree and all contributing artists. Also thanks to Kerszr for rounding all of these images up. If any of the content creators want me to remove their work from this set, please contact me and I will do so asap.

This file is a only a reupload of Kerszr's bundle of various Platform Banners, renamed and organized into a single zip. The total file count is 330. I spent a lot of time renaming these, so please forgive any errors or typos. You will still have to make sure the naming matches your system names before using them. Because it was so many files, I let windows automatically append two or more files with the same name as (2),(3) etc. Some of the file names were unrecognizable, and there were a few instances where I didn't even recognize the systems. Again, I apologize for any errors in naming.

The files themselves are in different qualities and resolutions. The list isn't 100 percent comprehensive, but it's pretty huge.

    Enjoy.

  10. Depending on your monitor, a screensaver isn't necessary. I'd imagine attract mode sort of works like a screensaver anyway even on CRT monitors (but don't quote me on that). I don't think there is a way to implement this through launchbox, but it is possible through Windows.  A quick google search brought up a bunch of results.

  11. I would actually love to add android games and apps to the PC, but I only want to do it officially (as in with my android email address entered and using that account etc.) and I don't trust any of the emulators enough. I wish they'd release something official.

In the meantime, you might try Koplayer. I suggest it because a while back I was able to get it to work in Rocketlauncher. If I recall, its only a matter of associating the apk with the emulator, then having a program launch the apk like an exe. So basically just drag the apk into LB, and make sure its not set to use an emulator. It might work, might not. Been a while since I messed with that emu at all.

  12. Could also check against dats from Dat-o-matic. This functionality already exists in Clrmamepro. You put in a dat file and do a scan. I'm pretty sure it checks for CRCs as well. Works for any system that has a dat file. But I guess somebody has to write the dats, and even no intro does updates to their lists. I remember once checking a pretty popular system against a dat and having left over roms.

I guess what I'm saying is for a lot of systems it isn't an easy task to create a "perfect" set. It probably requires a lot of research. In summation, yeah use no intro when possible and try not to worry too much about perfection. Just my advice. :D

  13. I don't think it backfired. I was genuinely interested. I have had, in course, reason to communicate directly with the Rocketlaunch devs, Jason, Circo from emumovies, but that's the extent of my brush with emulation superstars. Everyone likes a backstory. I don't personally give shit one about open sourced vs, but then I'm not savvy enough to contribute shit.

  14. Maybe part of the bad rep is the forums. It can go both ways. I've met some nice folks, but I don't think it's a coincidence that you see so many people asking RA questions on other forums. I know absolutely nothing about the devs, but that they made something awesome.
