@CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT The syntax of the command is incorrect. this is log
My apologies, replace the word "copy" with whatever your .BAT file is named. i.e., test.bat > log.txt

@CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT put a pause at end of bat ran it, exited game, it leaves CMD window open until a key is pressed once key is pressed it exits CMD no syntax error or error of any kind or issues.
The error would be in the CMD prompt itself, so you'd have to keep it open and scroll through it.
Try this, edit the .BAT, remove the pause line and add this instead:
copy > log.txt
Run the batch file. It should output a file called log.txt in the same location as the .BAT file. This text file should contain any possible issues, so copy and paste whatever is in it here.

Hi, thanks for your script for m2, but I cant make the script works. Could you please post a bat file or check what Im doing wrong?
I made the file on desktop, copy pasted and put the roms and emu paths. But when launch the .bat it opens a cmd and close after a second.
It looks like this:
Thanks!
Can you put a pause into the .BAT and see if it gives an error?
If you don't know how to do that, just edit the .BAT, scroll to the bottom, type the word pause as it's own line and then save it. Run the .BAT and it will not close the CMD window until a key is pressed, so you can see if it reports a bad syntax or some other such issue with the script.

If your DirectX is already up-to-date, you can ignore it. Chances are good you are already up-to-date anyway if you play a lot of current PC games as the installers always include the DirectX End-User Runtime for whatever version of DirectX the game uses (80% of the time DX9). I'm not absolutely certain about this, but I don't think LB/BB uses DirectX for anything other than it's Xinput/DInput APIs anyway and I'm pretty sure it's using DX9, which hasn't been updated since 2008 (when Xinput and XAudio2 were added, if I remember right), but I could be wrong on the version. You could re-install the LB update again or just download the DirectX End-User Web Installer directly from Microsoft, if you just want peace of mind about it. The error was likely caused, as you figured, by not accepting at the UAC pop-up.

Yep, I had the same deal. Must be how it is querying against EmuMovies. I've had to go and double check the FTP for other media for various platforms simply because things on the FTP are named differently than how I have them named in my collections. Example: For A Link to the Past, I have it as "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" and the EmuMovies FTP has it as "Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past" for videos/music/etc. Hasn't really bugged me, but I did notice the same thing for GBC.

Wow man. I hope you aren't considering tackling the whole SNES library, :D. Great work on these! Much appreciated!

You can technically do this, yes, but it is a huge undertaking if you have lots of games and, as far as I can figure, it wouldn't be possible to use LB/BB as the launcher for the ROMs.
You would need to convert the ROMs to a proper EXE and add it into Steam.
To do this (or at least the way I did it) was by making a shortcut to the emulator, in the shortcut adding the full path to the rom/iso (and possibly other command line options), making a VBS file that points to the shortcut and then using iExpress (it's built into Windows, so just search it on your PC; it's a basic installer building utility) to convert the VBS to an EXE (you just uncheck/don't use any of the installer specific options; make sure you point to the cscript.exe that is in Windows\System32) and then add that into Steam. This will only work if you are using Steam as the launcher though; doing this and still using LB/BB as the launcher probably won't work, unless someone knows another way. You could add Steam as the emulator, but it will only open the Steam UI and you'd still have to launch your games from it. Adding explorer.exe as an emulator won't work for non-Steam games either (this was how I use to import Steam games before the importer came along; explorer as the emu and Steam Shortcuts as the ROMs). I did this way back when I was just using Steam as a launcher for everything (ROMs, Origin, GOG, etc.) and the overlay worked with anything I added this way.
So technically you can do it, but not sure about with LB/BB.

I updated the archive with a couple new items and cleaned up the Super Metroid Redesign logo and Black Mesa Box a bit more (noticed some lines and such that I somehow didn't notice yesterday). The new items are for Mario Kart R and Mario Adventure (boxes and logos). I will periodically update the thread below as I get more art for things that I add to my collection.

Would be nice with a Hack/fan-made category in DB so we can add these in! Thanks for the boxes and logos! looks amazing bro
Some game tips for people that want more good games in this category:
Brawl-
Super Smash Land
Super Smash Flash 2
Super Pika Land Ultra
Super Mario Bros Crossover
Project M
A Goombas Walk
Super Mario 63
Super Mario RPG 2
Call of Cthulhu
Super Mario Bros X
Super Mario 64 Multiplayer
MariO
Psycho Waluigi
I will try my best to find box covers and clear logos for these. Dont know Photoshop so cant make them myself
Edit:
Is there anyone that know decent photoshop that can help me make some clear logos for the games above? It includes logos that can be used for clear logos, some box art i allready found, and some recourses that could be used to make box art. I would appreaticate every help And i will request a category for this in DB and add all games from this thread. This together with a platform video from CriticalKid can make BigBox the nr 1 stop for hacks.
Here is every logo you need:
Are you just wanting clear logos? Some of the art in the zip is already a clear logo (Super Mario Bros. X and Super Mario RPG 2, for example). I can take a crack at what you're wanting; just checking if clear logo wheel art is what you after for these games

@Vlansix I would gladly up vote it. Just one problem.... where is it exactly? I tried searching the issue list on bitbucket, but didn't find anything.... unless I'm looking in the wrong place. ?

Hi - I just uploaded some mocked up box-art and clear logos to the Downloads page and I was wondering if they could be added to the DB for people to scrape for from within LB? Games like this don't have much, if anything, when you try and scrape for them, so figure it might help out a tiny bit.
Not sure how to go about submitting the package for potential approval on it though.
The link for what I submitted for downloading is below:

Thanks, man! Hopefully it will help some folks out. If nothing else, we will be adding assets for things you can't generally scrape for. Let me know which games you aren't recording for and, if I have them, I'll make some gameplay snaps of them (don't have any N64 hacks, myself).
I'm going to inquire if this kind of thing could be added to the DB for scraping from within LB, too.

Here's the link to the downloads page for the box-art and clear logos. I have decided to re-record the videos I have, but will upload them as soon as I have them finished (likely over the weekend).

Hacks & Fan-Made Box-Art and Clear Logos
View File
Attached are some box art and clear logos that I use for my own personal collection. Some of these I mocked up myself since a lot of them just don't exist really anywhere and some were just edited/modified and others are just ones that I downloaded (Super Metroid Eris being one of those). In any case I don't take any credit for any of them since none are 100% original work by me. I am by no means a professional and I wish I could re-draw the logos that aren't high res, but I don't have those kinds of skills. I am also being very careful not to step on the toes of people that have already submitted artwork here, so if you are looking for box-art/logos for:
AM2R
Super Mario Omega
Super Mario Land 3
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest Revamped
Zelda: The Legend of Link
Hyper Metroid
The Legend of Zelda DX
None of these are included (unless I make my own variants on them) and can be downloaded from the site, if you need those (it's what I am using for those games).

That would work; probably a good idea to have some variety. I have a few that I already recorded myself for the background video. I'll be including the ones I have with the box art and clear logos that I'll be uploading later tonight, though I should probably re-record them, so I might do that before uploading any videos.
What kind of stuff are you guys looking for as far as inspirational material to add this category to your list of potential platform videos?

I will actually be done sooner than I thought. I just need to re-size and clean up a few of the logos and I will be ready to upload; which will be tomorrow night.
-
I'm actually working on getting all of that together to share it. Will take a couple of days to finish and tweak what I have, but I will upload a bundle to the site and put a link here by the weekend.

This isn't every hack or fan-made I have, but I think it covers some of the more well know ones, so I'm going to list (from the games I have):
Kaizo Mario World (hack)
Kaizo Mario Bros. 3 (hack)
AM2R: Return of Samus (fan-made)
Castlevania II: Simons Quest Revamped (fan-made)
Castlevania: Chorus of Mysteries (hack)
Brutal Doom (technically a Doom Mod, but I still count it in my category)
Final Fantasy Tactics: Journey of the Five (hack)
Hyper Metroid (hack)
Metroid Super Zero Mission (hack)
Super Metroid Redesign (hack)
Paper Mario 3D Land (fan-made)
The Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds Remodel (hack)
The Legend of Zelda: Goddess of Wisdom (hack)
Mega Man Unlimited (fan-made)
Mortal Kombat: Outworld Assassins (technically an OpenBOR game, but I count it too)
The Legend of Princess (fan-made)
Black Mesa (technically a Half-Life 2 Mod and can be purchased through Steam now, too, but still started as a fan-made re-make of the original Half-Life... so counts times 3 to me!)
The Legend of Zelda: Outlands (hack)
I'm also going to toss in:
Nightmare Busters (previously unreleased for the SNES)
Star Fox 2 (previously unreleased for the SNES)
The Legend Of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets (released as an episodic, weekly downloadable game for the Satellaview for the Super Famicom)
I have mocked up box art and clear logos for just about every game above and will be making logos for the few that don't have anything and I can help with recording gameplay for some these too. Just let me know how you would like to coordinate it and maybe we can get enough stuff together to spur some interest in someone making a platform video.

For the Windows MP4, does it play if you try to open it outside of LB/BB? If it does, and you have it named correctly, are you putting it in the Theme folder like you are doing with the images? I just tested with my own theme by moving files from the default LB directory into it and the images and videos loaded up fine. However, I always put everything in the default directories (paths I gave above) and not the theme directories and have never had an issue getting images or videos to show up.
If that MP4 plays fine outside of LB/BB, then I can't really say what the issue is if everything else is showing up fine for you; seems odd. The file could be corrupt and you just need to re-download it. If it plays, you could try manually pointing to that video from Tools -> Manage Platforms -> Windows and see if shows up then. I've attached how I have the Options for Images and Videos set in my own BB, if that helps you out.

I had inquired with @BakerMan on this since he has pretty great platform videos, but didn't have any artwork that might give him some inspiration, so, if you do, you might want to pass it over to him and maybe we'll see something awesome come about. I do the same thing myself, so I just have some gameplay clips that I recorded and spliced together for mine at the moment.
Anyway, if you have some stuff that might give BakerMan the inspiration, I'm sure he'd add one of these to his list.
His thread over this way ->

Are your videos in?:
For Platform - LaunchBox\Videos\Platform\Windows
For Games - LaunchBox\Videos\Windows
Also, are the file names corresponding correctly with the name of the Platform/Game Title? (i.e., Windows.mp4 for the Windows Platform video/Half-Life.mp4 for Half-Life, etc.).
If the above is true, LB/BB should find them automatically, but if for some reason LB/BB still doesn't find them, you can also do the more tedious thing of going to Tools -> Manage Platforms in LB and manually point to the Platform video you want to use and then in your Game List for that Platform, open up the right-click menu and under the Other tab, you can point to the specific video you want to use for games (you may be able to use the Bulk Edit Wizard for the Games if all of the videos are in one folder and not individual folders -> Select a game, press CTRL+A to select all of them, right-click and choose edit. If you see a video path option in there, it will make things less tedious; but not sure if there is one, off the top of my head).
As for the other question:
If you are referring to changing the Clear Logo image, those go in LaunchBox\Images\Platform\<Console you are wanting to chage>\Clear Logo
If you are referring to the Device image, those go in LaunchBox\Images\Platform\<Console you are wanting to chage>\Device
-
You can do it by pressing Tab and NOT going into the option for "This Machine", as that will create a profile for the game you are currently running. You need to go into the main settings location. After you map the buttons in MAME, you can then go into the config folder in your MAME install directory and set the file to Read-Only (this is optional; I do it so I don't accidentally overwrite mappings if I go into the settings and adjust something for that specific play session).
