Too bad this forum is set to oldest post first - I only noticed the other solutions after I found my own. ;)

What worked for me easily is setting fusion to run in compatibility mode for Win7, see screenshot.

I've recently updated and I've noticed when adding a new game now I have to go through more menus than I did before, which slows me down.  For example, if I added a new game before:

    On 9.10:

Add the game, click download media for images I wanted, then I had an immediate preview of them.  It was all in one place and relatively convenient.

    On

    11.9:

Add the game, then click on the media folder to download the images, then click on the media folder to download it, then click on the images folder to preview them.

I now have to go through 3 menus instead of 1.  While it's a relatively small change, if I'm doing this for hundreds of games, the additional time adds up.  I just wanted to see if there was a way to have the old menu back or if this is a permanent change.

unfortunately this user experience is whooped for some other improvements ? I don't like this change either

I'm over 42,000 with under 8TB so you must not be compressing your games?

I recommend GZ compression for PS2.

    WBFS for Wii

GC for GameCube (right from Dolphin)

    CSO for PSP

Just doing those alone will make a huge difference...

Thank you for the tip but everything is already compressed plus General hdd compression is also activated

Also - where it works I am using chd to save Space as well

ps3, 3DS and Switch Games needs a lot of space. Sometimes over 30-40 Gb per Game and More.

That is convenient, its a couple of mouse clicks. We used to have a plugin that auto uploaded, and it was a nightmare for moderators of the database as people frankly uploaded also sorts of total shit, bad art, not labelled, labelled incorrectly, covered in watermarks, it wasnt good.  Good riddance to that and making people do a little bit of work and therefore self moderation before being able to upload to the database instead.

I understood what you want to say but convenient is not the same as MORE convenient. few more clicks and a extra plug in that works not as good as it should is a nightmare from the user view. never the less. I am also not big fan about media management in Launchbox its Game DB. when you have media art that is out of standard in Launchbox.

the upload bad stuff into the games DB is indeed also a problem but also here I am pretty sure there are possibilities. a overhauled moderation function would help a lot, and uploading from launchbox, more possibilities in the games detail like all data per region, and  so on. I know I know there are more important things than this and that is the resason why that part slept on for so long time ? but compared with i.e. hyperspin where the software lived longer than its development only because of media control was Hugh (sure different plug ins as well but you had a one button option to change the artworks from one style to another).

That change was to logic introduced in Beta 1 release, if you were experiencing slow downs in 11.8 this change wouldn't affect that.

not sure if I understood you completely but I have a slow down since ages and the reason was explained by Jason that I have too many playlists and automated playlists that needs to build up during startup.

Thanks for all the testing and feedback guys. Beta 2 is out now with the following:

    • Startup performance improvements

it maybe increase the startup performance but because of many many playlists I assume that I cannot feel any improvements at all ?

Hey all, the first 11.9 beta is out now with the following:

    • Improvement: Instead of only being able to type the first letter of a game to jump to that game in LaunchBox, you can now type the beginning of a game's title (multiple characters) and LaunchBox will jump to that game, assuming that the games list is selected

best new feature so far ?

  8. Media Handling is a difficult and messy work in Launchbox. especially if you download from other places than the gamesDB the files and place it into the right folder. naming convention has to be exactly like the game name in the GamesDB else not all files will be found and shown in Launchbox.

you can display games with missing media. in the upper left corner you can choose the missing media view and then goes to cards and filter it by platforms. then you can choose the wanted few missing ones.

  9. My assumption is, that we need every game only one time in the database but with the option to extend that one game by multiple versions like the different regions and or different hacks, language patches, version, betas, etc. plus every version can have the full information like a normal game in the database (release date, artwork etc). this might make handling the database with all its needs easier, from the maintaining perspective as well as for the user perspective.

  10. this confuses me a lot. in one screen you can have doubles in the other it will check it before and do not download it but before I used the way "download metadata and media tool" for refresh all videos because emu movies are doing sometimes updates.

sorry, but sorting media files in launchbox confuses me and takes too much time.

whatever, I had many doublets in the system and filtered it out and delete it because SSD Space is limited on my pc ?

I can double check, but the Download Metadata and Media tool should not download another video if you already have one of the same type unless you tell it to. I'll verify that that logic is working as intended. That being said, if you tell it to download both Video Snap videos as well as theme videos and you only have one of them it will (and should) download the other type that you were missing.

I am not receiving a question if I want to overwrite a Snap File.

or do you mean that the System is not proposing to download a new video and un-checked that file? this would be not helpful while you are doing downloading media files for multiple games at once because it could get annoying to check every once a while each game if you have more than a handful in your system. what do you think?

  12. Hi All,

in one of the last new versions of Launchbox the handling for media files were changed. So now we have the chance to save multiple video snaps in that system. unfortunately this creates a lot of mess on my system because every couple of months I highlight ALL games in my launchbox and check download video files. in the past the system was overwrites the current one with the new one. now it will add another video to the one.

is there an option available that the system behaves like in the past, that I only have one Snap per Game or if the system wants to download snaps that it will replace the current snap? best would be, if we can choose that in the options and that the system is checking the file on my PC and in EMUMOvies before download, and if this is the same file than it will skip that. this might makes the whole process for around 33k games a bit faster (my assumption)

today I was able to delete around 2k of videos with around 10Gigs.

same is also for all the Artworks, which is growing and growing (with nearly 280Gigs now).

would be great if @Jason Carr can have a look at it.

    thank you

You complained that an LB feature resulted in you having duplicate videos. LB has a tool to remove duplicate videos and images.

As for any "bad news" you heard, I'm not sure what to say. I'm pointing out a built-in solution to your issue.

bad news like it deleted more than it should be and you cannot choose what kind of duplicates the system should delete or if these are duplicates or planned doublets.

in the beginning I tried that solution and experiences the same and now I am fearing / concerning such solution especially when such solution was not needed before for Videos.

maybe there needs a better communication towards functionalities with a manual or a Launchbox Wiki for the many features it already have that normally the common user never be aware of.

alternative is, that I make a copy of my 300-400gb of media files and then start this clean up tool and after that I have a long way to check if the tool did the right job because not all media is available in the games DB (which is the reasons for asking of such media art toolkit in launchbox).
