Hi,Having trouble with Yabasanshiro launching games. If i click play it will open the emulator up but i just get the emulator black screen with no running game.if i hit the blue run button it will run the last game i played in the standalone.Ive seen other threads saying add the -a -i command lines but that does'nt seem to do anything.

Any reason you are using the worst Saturn emulator there is? My advice would be to use the far superior mednafen/beetle Saturn emulator/retroarch core.

    1. Launchbox is trying to add a lot more games than in my romset (2000+ vs. 700)

    2. It seems to not care what is in the folder.

That is expected behaviour for the MAME "Fullset" importer it expects a fullset, not a limited collection of roms which 700 certainly is.  Also yes it does not actually look at the files you have in the folder, as any fullset has the same games, it gets that working games list directly from the mame.exe, and adds the rom names to Launchbox, not the roms themselves.

If you have a limited curated set of mame roms you need to use the standard rom importer and not the mame fullset importer.

This update messed up my ability to play with controllers.  Inside games the buttons are all jacked up.  Hitting the Start button now takes my N64 games out of fullscreen.  Hitting the 'A' button now make my NES games fast-forward!  Simply trying to scroll up and down in BigBox now scrolls so fast even when I'm simply pressing the down/up on the D-pad for an instant.  What happened?  How do I fix this?  I don't know why I do this to myself. I should never install an update, rookie mistake.

Launchbox has nothing to do with your controls in emulators.

  4. Always makes me laugh, seems to be absolutely essential that the user be on the latest version of Launchbox, but at the same time is using a OS that came out 15 years ago and is completely unsupported at this point, why one standard for one bit of software and a different standard for the other? Nobody should be using these old operating systems at this point, they are a security issue as they are end of life and no longer updated to stop current day threats.

Currently I have 4 brooks board for my arcade setup I wanted to use a Xbox one controller for Console games. When i plug the xbox controller in MAME re arranges the xinput joysticks. Is there a way to use the Xbox controller for console games with it no interfering with MAME?

Set mame's "default.cfg" to read only, then it cant be altered.

now when i try to launch a game the screen goes black like its trying to launch, but it just reverts back to the LB home screen

if your mame romset is 0.109 thats not gonna work with current versions of the emulator, its like 20 years old. manually download mame 0.109 from the mame website and use that, retro808 is also correct on that command too, it needs removing with a build as ancient as that.

Sometimes we want to add MAME sets to launchbox. But it also sees the bios files in it as a game. It is very tedious to remove them one by one by hand. Is it possible to skip the bios when installing fullsets and not see them as games in arcade?

It will only import bios files if you messed with the filters and disabled the one that excludes them, probably the "skip non playable games" one or similar if i had to guess.

Do you mean we the user can add a flag to ignore the mame folder, and if so how please?

No it doesnt as far as i know currently, but it probably should as mame is different to other systems/imports as files are not actually imported, and there are thousands of useless ones which you wouldnt want installed that are probably being seen bt the auto import process.

On first launching this beta I let it import, interesting to see what it would find as nothing has changed with no files being added, however the imported quickly found 1300+ roms to install, which I quickly stopped but not before it could import 250+ roms. What I found is that these roms are the ones I filtered out within the import full set wizard, such as games requiring CHD files. I think this will catch many people out who will end up importing vast amount of games they they original filtered out.

I also noted some games that really should have been imported by the full set wizard, but wasn't. Here is my original import filter...

    image.thumb.png.5d5a5c8d37d10c7fece745d91291353b.png

The beta for example imported Badlands, which is a game that uses a wheel, so according to my above filter the full set wizard should have imported this but did not, and there are many other examples of this. Why would that be please?

The mame rom folder should probably be excluded from this feature if having previously used the mame fullset importer, just add a flag at initial import if it was used so its ignored in future.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I'm not extremely tech savvy when it comes to this.

I was playing last night and everything worked fine, today when I went to boot up Launchbox, I'm getting an error screen and I can't get the program opened.

Not really sure what to do, I tried reinstalling the program but getting the same error screen.

Many thanks for any help :)

Looks like you may be on Windows 7/8 and unfortunately those are no longer supported due to other librarys Launchbox uses no longer supported 7/8, in this case chromium. 13.9 i think was the last version that supported those OS's so if you dont have that installer in your Launchbox/Updates folder you will need to reach out to support@unbrokensoftware.com and request that file.

Thanks for that Neil. Although that didn't work with the last bluetooth keyboard I had from Amazon so I wondered if anyone can confirm this does work and also works with LB Android on a Shield - and, if so, what keyboard it works with.

    Thanks for your help :)

I dont emulate on android so i cant say for sure, i will say though that this is nothing to do with Launchbox itself. Launchbox would only care in the Launchbox UI, once you are in a game it's up to the emulator what peripherals are supported. Maybe try a different emulator, one that isnt going through Retroarch's input layers?

    Hi all,

I'd love to re-live some of my glory days on the Speccy and the Atari ST. I've got Android LB on my Nvidia Shield and it's working fine. I've managed to set up some non-keyboard Speccy games (i.e. using Retroarch and using the on-screen keyboard for selecting the joystick etc).

I did buy a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard for the Nvidia Shield but, although it seemed to work on the device for navigating the Shield menus etc, it wouldn't control anything in the games?

Does anyone know how to get this to work (either a specific type of keyboard or a setting on LB etc)? I would love to get some keyboard only games working on the Shield.

    Thanks for your help.

    https://docs.libretro.com/library/fuse/#controllers-usage

Scroll lock on computer systems in retroarch should lock/unlock the keyboard to the emulator (as retroarch itself uses the keyboard for a lot of functions by default).

Reads to me like the JSON file we are getting from GOG is malformed. Could you PM me your GOG profile name and I can take a look at the return and see if I can replicate.

    Maybe related to this?

Ha it was a talk radio joke, so indirectly it was. Figured some humor before begging for help seemed right.

In LB even galaga doesn't open unless I right click and select a different version by trial and error. It makes me think my non-merged set has files in the wrong folders or mislabeled. I went ahead and downloaded the full merged set last night. I will give that a go today.

What would happen if I select that option to combine the versions in LB?

    how big is your romset?

Missing the feature for multiple rompaths here in Launchbox...at least for MAME.

The problem with multiple rompaths in mame.ini is, Launchbox won't look for new roms there. I have to do everything manually.
If we were at least able to populate the variable %romlocation%.

You shouldnt be scanning for additional roms for mame, you upgrade your romset, not add random games to it, thats a bad idea.

hi guys, it would be awesome to have wiiware titles as a separate platform.

    thanks!

You can name platforms anything you like, always have been able too. Just remember to set the "scrape as" when you do so to the appropriate platform, in this case Wii.

EA SPORTS FC 24 Windows is missing from the LaunchBox DB the only version is the switch version I own the windows (PC) version. Is this the correct place to make a request to add it to the DB.

The database is community driven, anyone can add any game, so you could add it yourself and help other users out. Just make a account there and have at it.

I just downloaded the same rom set from Archive.org... I can't figure out how to get the 7z file into Mame! It will not give me the option to set the archive folder as a directory. I tried moving the archive folder but it would not allow that.

Not sure exactly what you have here, but mame roms are .zip, not .7z officially (although you can repackage, but the official packs are always .zip). Secondly, do yourself a favour and download the current set from the official place, just google "pleasuredome github" and get direct from source.

By the way, does anyone know of a way to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 or 11? From within Windows I mean, not by formatting my whole f*cking hard drive and buying the disc and spending hours reinstalling the whole thing. A way to update Windows 7 much like some softwares like LB/BB do, whether for free or at a fee?

You don't need to format to upgrade Windows, at least not for several versions of windows. Just create the USB boot drive and choose the "upgrade this machine option" and not the one that says "wipe and reinstall" or similar wording.

I restarted and every time I pull my media down for my full set it gets about halfway then freezes again.

    Fixes?

Im slightly confused, but thats a often thing. Your original post was about the bar and the non finish of it, yes? Then the second bump post is the non download of the actual content?
