  1. Thank you for the screen shots! very helpful

I had one last question... I've gone on the Mednafen website and I can't seem to find the keys the are used during the disk swapping process. could you list them for me if possible

Yep, it's actually really simple. All you have to do is create a text file with the name of each of your .cue files, in order, one per line. So, for example:

    Enemy Zero (Disc 1).cue

    Enemy Zero (Disc 2).cue

    Enemy Zero (Disc 3).cue

    Enemy Zero (Disc 4).cue

Then save it. Now you just need to rename the file and change the extension from .txt to .m3u and use that .m3u file as your "rom" in LB. In Retroarch you'll need to assign keys to the "open/close tray" function, "next disc" function, and "previous disc" function. These have default keys but I changed them so I don't recall what they are. I changed mine to 0 for "open/close tray", + for "next disc" and - for "previous disc". So if I want to change from disc 1 to 2, all I have to do is press 0 (open), + (next disc), and then 0 (close). At that point you can continue playing normally.

Keep in mind, like I said, this doesn't quite work yet for Saturn. It works beautifully for PSX though. This is how I have all of my multi-disc PSX games setup.

Hi Zombeaver...  I’m just adding the Sega Saturn Platform and had some questions on the m3u file you mention above. I have 15 games, 5 of which are multi disk games. All are in bin/cue format and each in separate folders.

‘I gather from the discussion in this thread that for multi disk games I import the m3u file as my rom. I was wondering what folder structure I need to have for my multi disk games? Using Enemy Zero as an example, would I create on folder named Enemy Zero and place all the bin/cue files in it along with the “Enemy Zero.m3u” file? Then import the m3u file?

with the single disk games I’m importing the cue files I assume?

    thanks ?

  3. Just got this error when trying to add a new platform from the tools menu. All I wanted to do was create a Windows platform on the root and add my locomailto games added as roms under a Locomailto platform..

  4. Away from my LB system and finally decided to add some indie PC games to my setup.

I found a retro developer called locomailto and he has a number of freeware pc and pc mini games.

I wondered if you can add these windows games as a custom platform and scrape as windows like you can with the rom importer??

I’m sure you can, but being away from my LB PC I wanted to know the answer rather than wait and experiment when I got home

    Cheers

  5. Hi guys. I’ve just finished watching ETA prime’s Daphne tutorial but can’t go past the section where he refers to downloading the daphne Downloader. Three files that are to be places into the Daphne emulator folder, to get the Daphne games that are legally available to download.

So really I’m stuck, can anyone point me in the right direction to get these three files.

At 1.02 he mentions the files I talk about. I assume I need these for the Downloader to work?

Any help would be appreciated! ?

  6.

I came across these scripts for grabbing the Naomi games from the mame sets and wondered if anyone has updated them to work with the latest Mame set (Split)

I’d imported my mame set the other day and added around 2k of games but wanted separate platforms for Naomi, Sega Hikaru etc

With so many games in mame is there a script or app doing the rounds that could pull out or identify the relevant files so that I can separate them into folders

Any help would be most appreciated

Can you compress ISOs using this bat file/CHDMAN?

I’m no expert but I’d imagine not. I guess what you would have to do would be to extract the iso’s Contents to a folder. If you have a cue file or gdi files after extracting the iso then you can run the bat file included in the .7z file and it will work it’s magic.

I must admit I’m very impressed with the compression of my Dreamcast games, so much so that I’ve converted my whole gdi collection to .chd.

well worth the time and effort if space is an issue on your drives

  8. The  zipped Files include  a gdi file plus loads of track#.raw/bin files of different sizes. Is it safe to extract all the games into one directory mixing them all up together or should I be unzipping each to a folder before running those files you mention.

I did wonder though if the gdi acts like a cue file and has all of the relevant info of what files are associated with it and that the prg’s you’ve linked can sort it all out?

  9. I want to add SEGA Dreamcast to my Launchbox setup and an looking to use redream. It doesn’t say on there website what file formats it supports just cdi, does anyone know.

I also have three more questions

    Best Dreamcast emulator to date?

I have all my games zipped to save space and know that there is an option to un zip roms. I wondered if that is selected will LB in zip all the files for a multi disk game before launching.

How does redream and other emulators deal with multi disk game

My games are zipped gdi with other files

    Eg

    Grandia II (Disc1).7z

    Grandia II (Disc1).7z

they don’t extract to folders just all the files, if that makes sense?

I just want to know how the games that are multi disk should be stored within the game folder. If they need to be unrated then so be it :)

    Any help would be appreciated

  10. Just finished setting up my Atari 5200 within launchbox using ETA Primes tutorial and everything is working fine. I like to have my Launchbox install mobile and with Kat5200 it appears the kat5200 confit file is saved on the  C drive in the AppData\Roaming\kat5200\0.8\  folder. There appears to be no way to change that. Anyone using the emulator worked out how to change it?

I didn’t install the emulator, just unzipped it..

    Any Ideas

  11. Tried what you said and I get the following screen. When I abort the process it says it will revert back to the previous version. It doesn't do it properly and I have to run the 8.6 beta 13 install to get it running. As soon as I get the option to upgrade to the latest version it will fail and I get the screen I've attached.

    Any ideas?

  12. I took a break from LB for about 8 months and have come back to a load of cool features and I finally got MAME imported using the new wizard..

I just wanted to check something that is probably fine but if not then I’ve pointed out a glitch, but it’s probably the later.

I’ve got a LB installation on the go for a friend, 5 platforms added and LB displays them as Platform is selected. I added MAME and also selected create playlists for Namco classics etc.

After the import where the 5 system were being displayed Arcade has appeared but also all the playlists, or am I mistaken and these lists are considered platforms?

I think not though because I see there is a playlist view within LB which has all the newly created MAME playlists.

I’m not at my PC right now so can’t tell you the exact beta version I’m on but can add it later

Let me know if you can

    Thanks

I see that I should have scanned this post as it’s been addressed ?

  13. I’ll say sorry right off the bat because I didn’t note down the error when my Lauchbox update failed, but anyhoo!

I’m running Windows 10 and had just done some windows updates. I ran Bigbox and played around for a bit and got a notification for the latest beta update. I declined the update and carried on with B.B., I later closed down B.B. and launched LB.

The update process then started and the typical LB install window with progress bar appeared. Right at the beginning of the process I got an error saying something like this

‘cannot overwrite file when it is already present, retry , ignore (not recommended) or quit”

I’m positive however that it was worded differently but I can’t recall.

I selected quit or abort and it mentioned reverting back to previous state, or something like that.

I now have no Launchbox.exe, but do have a BigBox.exe, however Bigbox will not run.

How can I get things back up and running without altering or damaging my settings and files?

Is there a repair option within the installer?

    Hope you guys can help

  14. I've had a nice collection of games running with FBA. CPS 1,2,3, Cave, Neo Geo MVS etc, found on a rather pleasurable site. I got this collection mainly because I could never really find out what systems were included in the MAME set. Now we have platform categories which is cool but there are a few little bugs in the creation of the playlist but that's not the reason for this post.

So the FBA collection was added as a platform called FBA and scanned as Arcade. I then recently imported my mame collection and found many games missing even when selecting import all. I'm sure the importer when processing files logs what has been added. If you happen to queue up the same folder that you imported earlier which happens to include some new roms then it will ignore the old and import the new.

So my question is... If my FBA collection was imported first under the FBA platform and scrapped as Arcade and then my MAME collection, could LB not be importing Neo Geo MVS and other systems because I've already imported them under my FBA platform and scrapped as arcade?

Sorry I did waffle a bit, but I hope you guys understand what, I'm getting at.

or if you could just make a folder with the platform name and then place the two or more videos inside of there and it can alternate through them like it does if you are using game videos for platform videos.....

Click on issues/request at the top of the page and request this as a feature. If it gets enough votes it could be implemented

  16. I don't think so... It depends what you mean. Do you want two videos for one system and to be able toswitch between them? You can't do that I'm 100% sure. Each video is named exactly as the platform is. The only way I can see to achieve this would be to join two platform videos together with a fade in between. Otherwise I think unless you request this as a feature you are out of luck :)

  17. I followed Brad tutorial on setting up FBA, using the collection he refers to in the video. I imported this a while back but never configured the controls. Today I thought that I'd do this and I'm a bit stuck.

Firstly let me say that I'm using a Xbox 360 pc controller and have this running from a wireless dongle.

I see that in order to map controls you have to load a game, which I have done. This is where Im a little uncertain on how to continue.

So I select player one and then I'm given a number of options: joystick 0-2, x arcade, hot rod. If I'm looking at mapping 2 Xbox controllers will I use joy stick 0 and 1?

I've read somewhere that you have to configure each game and the mapping is not universal, is this true?

Lastly, I can't seem to get the games to run full screen, any help with this would be much appreciated

fba.pngThe error I get when running FBA is as follows, but I think this is the error Brad mentions in his video, but will post it just in case it is what's stopping me from going full screen
