    I can't load MAME or Sega CD (ISO Images) either in RA or Standalone Emu I am pulling my hair

    Your Arcade (mame) issue is you do not have a core chosen. Like the other platforms listed you need to tell it what core to use for your Arcade platform. Sega CD make sure you have the bios files as was mentioned.

  2. Pro tip:

    1. Set up your emulator of choice for the system you want emulate first.

    2. Test the games launch correctly and your controls work inside of the emulator.

    3. Then once you confirm it all works there add the emulator to Launchbox, then import your games.

    Doing this will ensure that if for some reason when you launch a game from within Launchbox/BigBox if the games do not work, we can eliminate it easily from being an emulator issue and go right to troubleshooting your Launchbox set up. Many time users will tell us it does not work only to find out they never set the emulator up correctly.

    Honestly haven't tested Nostalgia in a while. A few months ago, some memory leaks were brought to my attention, and I've slowly been isolating those leaks. It's taking a long time because I have to let a theme run in attract mode for days on end. I've identified 3 of 4 (I think there are four total) leaks, and once I plug them I'll double back and take a look at Nostalgia and my other themes.

    Just downloaded a fresh version and tested. It is working. I did notice from platform to platform there was some occasional lag, but no crashes like @Edulnmigrante mentioned.

  4. Just looking at Genesis games, if you go in BigBox and go the the Startup themes menu and turn off Startups will the Genesis games work?

    If not turn it off in the settings inside Launchbox and the settings inside BigBox as they each have a setting and see if that helps.

    Hello,

    thank you for Launchbox and all your work that goes into it. I'm lovin it so far. Unfortunately one thing doens't work for me. If I import a Plattform and set a Standard Emulator for this Plattform i can't change this choice afterwards unless i import the plattform again. For example i imported the ColecoVision with Mame as the Emulator and i wanted to change it to Retroarch. I turned the checkmark for Standard Emulator for ColecoVison off and set the checkmark for Standard Emulator for Retroarch. Then when i'm in Launchbox and double click on a Game it still starts with MAME. I can choose Retroarch only in the Start with Section.

    This happens on every plattform i import. Is there anything i can do to change the plattform without importing it all over again?

    Thank you for your help.

    Edited: Neil got you covered in his response.

    Can you turn on and off game startup screens per platform?  I only really need to use it for dolphin at this point.

    Yes. When you edit an individual emulator you can turn on/off Pause themes as well as Startup themes. You can also bulk edit games and do this. Helpful in the case of windows games or any that do not use an emulator.

    Did I hear that launch box will be incorporating save sates? I love video games unfortunately I am lousy at them and when I was a child I had months to "git gud" at a game but now that I am older and finding so many abandoned games I really would prefer to play as many as I could and lessen the time needed to master a game by saving at any moment. Some games are very easy to save for example "Doom" you can save whenever, but other games such as "Wing Commander" you can only save once you beat the level which is hard if you suck.

    I know Nintendo and Super Nintendo emulators have save states and it is really nice, I can play dozens of games a year with such a feature, even with my lousy skill. It would be nice for PC games to do that also. Is there a special fund on patreon I can contribute to to make this a reality?

    There is no patreon to contribute. You can support the dev by purchasing a license (annual or lifetime).

    Save states are currently in place. However, it is more a case of if the emulator (such as within Mame, Retroarch, etc...) has a save state function built in you can now load/save from within the new Pause Screen feature built into Launchbox/BigBox.

    i turned the worng thing off i tryed turning off the start up screen and it fixed it thank you :)  i dont mind sarcrficing the simple start up to have it fully working

    Well at least we know it is not playing nice with Startups for you. It is working for me, I just tested in BigBox from the Pause menu. I get about 2 second black screen before I see the shutdown window, but it works. I do not use Kega so the emulators setting for me are just the stock settings. Not sure if maybe you have a setting changed in Kega that may be the difference.

    Here are what I have set in Launchbox for it. The Running AHK and Exit AHK tabs are empty.

    Hi team,

    I was trying to update my PC games to run from a mapped network drive (Z:\) instead of from the network location \\192.168.....etc and I came across a thread saying in Windows 10 running as admin loses the mapped drive recognition. Launchbox does not see the Z:\ drive. Even if I keep the games as .LNK shortcuts in the "launchbox\games\windows\" folder and create a new shortcut that points to "Z:\gamename" instead of "\\192.168....\gamename" Laucnhbox does not recognize the Z:\.

    If I go into the launchbox folder and right-click -> properties the exe and uncheck the Run as Admin box. Launchbox won't even load at all. Anyone have issues running without admin rights?

    It is actually recommended to not run Launchbox as admin.  I believe there are quite a few users the have games mapped to a network drive. I do not, so I cannot really give any assistance on torubleshooting, but wanted to mention the admin rights point.

  10. That code just tells the program to recognize Escape key as command to close emulator. Launchbox’s controller automation should send Escape key to close the game. So when you set up your buttons in that section of Launchbox it works to basically say “If I hold this button and press this button send Escape”.

    There a lots of us using same style setup as you and it works just fine.

  11. Do your joysticks replicate keystrokes or game controller buttons?

    Either way, Using the built in controller or keyboard automation from Launchbox works with Demul.

    In your Demul setup from the Launchbox emulator edit screen put this AHK in the Running AHK tab. Then set your controller or keyboard automation buttons in Launchbox settings.

    $Esc::
    {
        Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}}
    }

    Maybe it's just me, but I did find it odd that the default minimum votes was set to 6. There are a few consoles that don't have many votes on games (Amiga there are tons) that don't get arranged unless someone finds this option. I would think default would be 1 so they all get arranged, then the user could set it higher if they so choose.

    I think the point of not setting it to 1 is to get some type of average. Personally, I would hate to have someone to come along and randomly rate games 5 stars that are junk games and with just the 1 rating those games get ordered at the top of my list if sorted by highest rating.

    Yes I do. Is it related to bios? I might as well use standalone emulator for everything coz RA not working with anything

    RA works fine with Launchbox as long as you set RA up correctly. It could just be a simple setting missed. Without Launchbox can you run your Sega CD games directly in Retroarch?

    Are not the startup themes for when you startup games? I am specifically interested in the splash screen that displays when you execute launchbox.

    Ah my bad. I was thinking of the Now Loading splashscreen from within BigBox. That is not customizable. I do not think it has ever been requested to customize that. Under "Help & Support" at the top of the forum is a Feature Request button.

    Under Options->Legacy->General, there is an option to 'Show splash screen during load'. But is there an ability to change the splash screen itself? If not, could I request this be implemented? Thanks!

    That setting is probably no longer relevant since we have Startup themes now. Custom themes can be made by the user or downloaded.
