To clarify, what is the definition of "new" for the auto importer? Is it any ROM that does not currently have an entry in LB or does it "remember" the directory's contents from its last scan? Also, can we turn this feature on or off on a per-platform basis, or is it all or nothing?

For now it is global. So you cannot turn on or off by platform. "New" would be anything not imported into a LB platform.

  2. Merged threads as we did not need a new thread for the same issue.

Did you look inside the themes images folder and confirm the images used for PSP have a file name that matches how the platform is named in your build. I know you said you used the default naming of PSP but I am not sure which Unifed them you are using (there are several versions) so I do not recall what the theme is actually using for a file name.

Ok.   I feel like this is a weird state - where the 13.11 Beta thread continues after 13.11 has been released, and is out of Beta.

Is there a bug report already open?  Or should I submit one?

It keeps going because users tend to post non-beta issues in this thread. So it looks like it is an active beta but it is no beta related issues.

You can open a ticket, but I would search first to see if one is open. I cannot recall immediately if there is one. I would recommend provide feedback in the post on the forum.

Has any progress been made with the "Black Screen on BigBox Startup" issue (I saw someone else mention it not too long ago)?   Both of my standup cabinets randomly go to a 'black screen' on startup, and I have to bump the joystick or hit a key to get it to like..  wake up and then load the main view and start working.   But it'll just sit there for hours if I don't touch it.

Oddly, my sitdown Daytona USA twin (two PCs running LB/BB) doesn't have this issue.

All four use LEDBlinky, standups have Ultimarc IPac Ultimate I/O boards, sit down drivers have IPac-2 boards.

If it is not listed on the beta release notes it is not something that has been worked on in the current betas. Faeren updates the first post of the thread with each beta's release notes.

Im on the current version 13.x. I have a Startup folder and a few startup videos in it each with different names.  They randomly play, but NONe of them play to the end, Big Box launches very fast in about 5 seconds.

How can I get the startup videos to play in full?

If you have them in the \Video\Startup folder BB is designed to play them in full and then jump into BB or play the video until you hit a button to then jump into BB.

The old setting was removed when the startup video was changed to use the \Videos\Startup folder and allow for multiple videos.

I would try turning the option to play the startup off and shutdown BB. Then reboot it and turn it back. Who know maybe resetting it might work.

  6. What version Windows are you running?

If running Win 7 or 8 then that is the issue. Win 7 and 8 are no longer supported in LB. Version 13.9 is the last version you would be able to use. If you do not have the 13.9 installer in your \Updates folder you can email below and ask for a copy.

  7. As mentioned by christhed you can check the box for "Include Playlist with Platforms" in the details tab to have them show with the platforms.

Additionally in the parents tab you can specifically select where exactly you want it to show up under by checking the box of that item. You can also check multiple times to have the playlist show in more than one place.

You can see in my image I created a "Category" called "Playlists" and make all playlists regardless of type show there. So using the Parents tab you can more accurately control where they show up.

Yep. It’s super lame that bigbox can even run attract mode for a day. It’s just playing videos. I even upgraded the entire computer to an amd 7840hs with 32gb of ram and an nvme 4TB ssd. Computer is a beast but bigbox dies trying to do attract mode for an extended period of time. It’s been like this for years. 6 years or more. @Jason Carr doesn’t seem interested in fixing it.

I highly doubt Jason or the team are not interested. Last I spoke to them about this he was not able to replicate it to be able to track down what might be an issue. This was something that plagued me for quite a few years. Between 6 total cabs/builds running BigBox it would affect each them differently or not at all. On 2 of my cabs it ended up being corrupt video files (took some testing but eventually I found which platforms had the culprit files). On one other it just stopped being an issue. Two of them never even experienced the issue. I have not had a single crash in any cabinet in well over a year.

Have any of you tried removing your video folder and running BB to see if you get any crashes? Not saying this is the true issue, but it is one known to cause this for some users?

What if I use Retroarch as my emulator of choice?

Full set importer should only be ran against standalone Mame. I believe the import wizard for it even mentions that. You can run it against mame and then after the import go into the Arcade platform and select all the games and then bulk edit and change the emulator to Retroarch.

  10. That should not cause an issue. Tested all those games they they launch fine in Duckstation. My rom files have "-" in the names.

Can you edit Duckstation in LB and show a pic of the Details page (>Tools >Manage >Emulators and edit Duckstation).

  11. I probably should have better clarified my post.

The GamesDB seems to be matching only the game name.  So LB sees the game name for both files as "Puzzle King" (even though there is a "-" in one name) and is searching the GameDB and it only finds the one GamesDB ID for "Puzzle King". I thought it was also supposed to try and search with rom name to further refine it.

That other game is listed under name Puzzle King (Dance & Puzzle).  I do see that second listing has an "Alternate Name" of "puzzlekg" which is the rom name. I thought that was supposed to help refine matches better.

I will ask one of the devs.

  12. This is likely because Mame has the <Name> of both those files as Puzzle King. LB is only going by what is in the Mame.xaml generated from the version of Mame you are using. If you go into the Metadata folder and open the Mame.xaml file there you can search the files and see.

Searching the Arcade Database you can also see this same information.

  13. Not sure what is going on. I tested updating that same game following the exact steps you provided and I got 9 images on the initial pass. Clear logo and Adv Flyer were in that run.

How exactly are you updating the media? Are you updating by going to >Tools >Download >Update Metadata and Media?

I tested a reimport of the rom and using the media update option and got the same result of 9 images.

Yes I believe so. Is this something that could be updated? I'm doing research for a large project cataloging video games and I'd love to be able to use Launchbox as a source, but clicking into every game to see the year is not practical. Appreciate the responses and the work you guys do. Thanks!

I am sure it will be. The new site is a work in progress as the team now has a dedicated developer. So expect there will be more updates.

I'm referring to the year date that shows when clicking into a game. Take the Adventures of Lolo on your screenshot - There's no date on the Gameboy page, but if you click into the game's page, the date is listed as 1996. In the old format this date was listed for each game when you browse via platform, which made using control+F super easy to find the year you want (old screenshot attached via wayback machine)

    image.thumb.png.c0619c2eee16b0c6f7a42c96761f1d83.pngimage.thumb.png.868f1faa0c466cced4c5a81d825fe5f0.png

Ahh, so it looks if it does not have a full Day-Month-Year date in the game's details it will not show anything on the main page.

So it is not a case of it affecting everything just games without DD/MM/YYYY in the release date field.

The inability to quickly search by year has made the database unusable as a database. Games just say 'released' with no date mentioned unless you click into each game individually which is not practical.

Are referring to somewhere specific as I do see release dates? At least in most platforms they are there and some games appear to be missing the date which would need users to edit and add.

It would be nice to be able to enter a date and have the DB filter to games released in that month/year. At least in the new DB current development state I cannot see a way to do that.
