  1. This is not a feature available in LB/BB playlists. Feel free to submit a feature request. Do so by using the link to our bitbucket located at the top of the forum under "Help & Support".

That's the conclusion I came to as well (for why it didn't show up in LB), however, it does play perfectly fine in MAME.
    What does "unemulated protection" mean?

The original game had some sort of protection/piracy feature on it that is not emulated correctly inside Mame. So the rom is not properly emulated and could have things wrong like graphical glitches, boot issues, or any host of problems.

  4. How it happened can be many things. One common way is LB or BB closing abruptly without being able to save any data changes on exit.

How to fix is pretty simple. The error gives you some tips on how to fix. Go to your \Backups folder. There you will see a bunch of backup zip files. Open anyone of them and copy (or drag and drop) the corrupt xaml file in the zip to your \Data folder. It will override the corrupt one

#1 - Bigbox views do not update when for example, hiding games.  If I hide a game, it stays visible until the next time I start Bigbox.

#2 - Launchbox issues adding clear logos.  I recently had trouble adding a clear logo to a game in Launchbox.  I would add the image, set it to clear and then exit the settings.  However the setting

#1 has been addressed in the latest betas.

#2 may also be fixed in the latest betas. I believe some fixes were added to edit game screens for some similar type of issue so it may also help with this.

You can opt into a beta by going into LB Tools and in the updates section tick the box for betas.

#3 - BigBox Security setting for not allowing exit when locked doesn't work for me.  I can still press X to exit.

The "Allow Exit While Locked" only adds the Exit option to the settings menu when BB is locked. I do not believe it was initially designed to override a controller mapping for "Exit". I will check and see.

II am using the unified redux theme.  I like it, but a few things could use tweaking.  The platform details like game count are too slow to appear.  Scrolling speed could also be faster.  Bigbox game detail settings do not seem to do anything with this theme?

That would be up to the theme creator to tweak those settings or you can go into the theme's \Views folder and edit the appropriate xaml file for the views you are using to make those adjustments. If you are not familiar with coding you may need to some trial and error.

As far as your game details question I am not sure what you mean. The game details screen just brings up the menu for launching the game and some other details (pic below). That's all it is designed to do.

  6. It is definitely something within Bizhawk. It does not like if the command line is using " (quotes) around the path. In LB Emulators setting if you check the box to remove the quotes Bizhawk does run and there is no error, however, the rom is not running.  Test with and old version like 2.3.1 and no issues using quotes or not in the path.

I did not mess with it more as I need to run tend to an errand.

Xenia can go fullscreen using the command-line parameter:  --fullscreen

Of course you can use an AutoHotKey script, but a command-line parameter is always going to be more reliable.

This is definitely the cleaner way. Unfortunately, when I posted the AHK option my set-up would not use the command line. It just kept going windowed. So had to force it there.

I was unable to try and discover how to change the view,

In BigBox you can bind a key or controller button to the options for Change Theme and Change View. so in either the controller mapping or keyboard mapping section of BigBox settings map a key/button to those. Then when you are in either the platform view or game level view you can hit either of those buttons to change a view or change to another theme.

Keep in mind changing themes only works to change it to themes you have actually downloaded.

There is a Theme UI option in the BigBox menus that lets you view different themes users have uploaded to shown inside the BigBox UI. These are not all themes available as users have to actively submit a theme to the devs to be tested thoroughly before it gets added to the BigBox UI like this. There has lots more only available in our forum.

  9. Since Xarcade default option is to replicate a keyboard you want to map inside BigBox under the Keyboard Automation. In the BB settings menu look inside the Keyboard Automation and map the option for "Close Active Window"

For Mame: Just launch mame.exe without a game and click on "Configure Options. Then go to >General Inputs > User Interface and map the option for  "UI Cancel"

Hey great theme!  I noticed on the preview video that when you are selecting games, it is a wheel with the clear logos of each game. However, I cannot get it to do that, instead it is just a list of games that are listed vertically (no wheel or clear logos). The only clear logo and wheel is when I select platforms. Is there a way to change this in the settings? I have searched but cannot figure it out.

    thanks.

You may be in the Text List View. You would need to change to one of the views that support clear logos.

Best way to do this is go to BB settings and either in the keyboard mapper or controller mapping section bind a key to the option for Change View. This way when you are in the actual list of game you can hit that key or button and change the view type in real time and see it change.

This came to my mind a few minutes after i posted my issue, But sadly it is named exactly the same in Launchbox's database.

I can clarify that i'm talking about the NES title named Arkanoid II or Arkanoid II Revenge of doh, But the database justt refers it as Arkanoid II.

My image is not just named after the rom, But also the actual file inside the zip file, My front box cover, The cartridge image and the fanart background image.

Maybe i have to name all of them in Japanese as it is a famicom rom ?, Nah!! i think. But i'm pretty damn clueless at the moment.

In short the only name that matters is how the game is named inside your LB set-up. As mentioned LB does work with rom names. However if you name it after the rom inside the zip and the zip file is a different name that will not work as LB is attaching the image to the game file you have linked and that typically is the zip file name.

I mentioned the drag and drop option and @faeran posted pics of the same steps. I recommend following this option as it will ensure the image is named correctly and place in the correct folder if you select the Screenshot - Gameplay tag.

  12. Is it always the same games that are missing the images?

Game play images go in the \Images\[Platform Name]\Screenshot - Gameplay\ folder. So that is the right spot. You said you name the image after the rom so try naming the image as the game is named in LB. This is the default way LB will name the image. It can read images named after the rom, however I would try the default way and see if there is any change.

Another test would be right click one of those games and edit. Then in the images page drag and drop your image. Select Screenshot - Gameplay as the image type and let LB store and name it correctly. Then test and see if the images show up.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not criticizing here. Just thought if I could save the images some where in LB I'd do that, but I don't know where they go.

All game images are saved inside the \LaunchBox\Images\[Platform Name] folders. You will see all the specific image type folders. Any image you place in each image type folder needs to be named as the game is named in LB. Just browse around inside the \Images folder and you will quickly see how things should be saved and where.

You can also right click and edit a game directly inside LaunchBox then drag and drop images into the image page. Select the image type you want for it and LB will attach it to the game.

So far the games I tested did not have any issues. I just dont like going through the whole head ache of downloading the latest Mame ROM set (and searching for it) and then searching all over the internet to try and find the CHD files.

I really wish these Mame ROM sets included the CHDs.

Archive and Pleasuredome are useful site (Sorry, against rules to provide actual links to rom sites). I found a 0.225 Mame CHD set in a few seconds on Archive  site. Those would work perfectly. You can also register for that certain pleasuredome site as they always have the latest Mame. However, I think the latest chd is only .232. .233 does not have a download. Could be wrong, been a week or so since I looked.

What is the lastest Mame ROM set?

Mame site. Latest download is 0.233

    1 hour ago, RaiderX1212 said:

If I download it, does it mean upgrading my Mame version to the same number and then also deleting my whole current Mame setup and re-importing everything? That is also a head ache as if you select importing images it can take more than a day to import. Would not look forward to that again.

You can delete the platform. Import the new rom set and uncheck media options. LB will attach any existing media to the new import.

OK I seem to be getting somewhere, I found LST files in another download for Noami ROMS from interne archive.

The games I testes so far works, except for a strange message that pops up when the game starts "Please upgrade to MAME romset of expect issues"

Thats strange, does it mean I should not really be using the LST files (as also ETA Prime showed in his video to use LST files)? It seems easier as there is no need for CHD files with them.

Yes. LST files are an outdated form.  You should really be using the roms from the latest or at least as current a Mame rom set as possible.

  16. 8bitdo controllers work fine in Retroarch. Are you using it in X-input mode?

I will just requote this ⬇️. Do this as mentioned before and you should get where you need.

As @faeran mentioned each theme can support multiple views and it is up to the theme creator what views they make for their theme. The easiest way to see the different views when you have applied the theme is to map a button or a key to the option for "Switch View" in BigBox.

Go into either the keyboard mapping section or controller mapping section (depends on your setup) and find the option for "Switch View" and then map a key/button. You can even map one for "Switch Theme". This allows you to see changes real time.

Then when you apply the theme and as you are viewing your platform list or your game list if you hit that button it will switch the views to the different view layouts the theme creator made and find the one you like.

    Screen Shot 2021-06-30 at 3.38.30 PM.png

Whenever you apply new themes you may not be on a view it supports and the view from the default theme will show. You need to then switch views to find the right one for the theme.
