Just wanted to share a scenario I ran into and what fixed it, in case it helps anyone else. I bought a new Samsung TV over the weekend and hooked up my PC running Launchbox via HDMI, and everything was working fine. I launched into my Windows games folder and played some, everything was working great.

Then I launched a few games from other emulators that use Retroarch and everything was performing super slow and choppy, audio was stuttering at 1/2 speed. Since I had been playing other games without any issues, I initially thought there was something wrong with Retroarch so I installed a clean version, but this didn't fix anything. I then thought maybe I have some system issues and began uninstalling any recent software to check it again but no change. I also noticed this was happening with a few other emulators, but strangely not with Mame or Windows games and a few other emulators.

Anyways to make a long story short, I wasted a few hours pulling out my hair and going backwards in config on several portions of the system only to find that the refresh rate on my PC had changed when connecting to the new TV...... I'm on Windows 10, I just right clicked on the desktop and went to Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties > Monitor tab, and noticed the refresh rate was set to 29 Hertz (?). Setting this to 60 Hertz resolved the problem. It must have been that my previous TV had this refresh rate? I'm really not sure honestly.

Glad it's resolved, but feeling silly I didn't think of it *before* going down a rabbit hole that led me to screw up all my Retroarch settings.

i was so happy until i discovered im already at 60hz I am very sad i spent so long setting retroarch up so depressed.

if you look at the error it tells you what line of the xml is corrupt I've used that info in the past to manually edit my xml files and fix them don't know how messed up yours is but that is always an option.

ok i fixed it back i mean i restored all of them from baxckup folder thanks much again

If you have your roms setup in a logical and organized manner re-importing wouldn't take that much time at all since you already have all the media files and those are what takes the most time when importing.

yeah everything is the same... just no time to do all that crap over

Not sure what to tell you really other than remove your xml files and re-import your games for each platform. You won't need to re-download all the media at all but you will have to scrape them for the meda data.

Sounds like something got really messed up somehow.

ugh i might delete it all and just call it quits

Okay I'm thinking your saying your drive letter changed on the PC the quickest fix for this would be to go to disk management in Windows and change the letter back to the one your PC was originally using. To fix it in NP++ you would need to close LB go to the Data\Platforms and choose the platform you want to edit then go to search in the toolbar menu and select find in find type in the part of your path you want to change so really if you wanted to only change the drive path you would type F:\ then you would click the replace tab and type in K:\ and click replace all.

Im in the backups folder of LB but idk which xml file to edit... and when I search for F:\ THERE no results please tell me how to do it

The best you can do within Launchbox is to consolidate your duplicates into a single entry which you can do during the import or after. During the import there is a check box on one of the steps and afterwards select a platform and then go to Tools > Consolidate ROMS for "platform name". You will then be able to choose which rom loads either by right clicking in Launchbox mode or the menu in BigBox mode.

Otherwise you will just need to clean up your rom set however you can outside of Launchbox before importing.

yeah it be great if the rom sets were cleaned beforehand thanks again.

  10. HEY guys, I have a ton of roms to import and I am trying to get rid of all the duplicates using tools like dupeguru etc.

In LB I don't have time to go through thousands of roms to delete hundreds of duplicates, is there some function to do this for me when importing roms to the database?

Then shooting an email to support@unbrokensoftware.com should get you a new license file mailed out to you. It's a good idea to back that up either in your email or on a USB stick or something.

i find it! on my alt HD LB Premium? now i just need to know where i place it in the LB folder.

It looks like you lost your license file or something happened to it, I would suggest emailing support@unbrokensoftware.com

just because i had it uninstalled? surely hope they can fix it thanks... yeah it was on my old copy of windows that was completely lost and fried.. i didn't have time to back anything up but i did indeed pay for it.

In Launchbox if you go to Help -> About -> Premium it will show you the current status of your premium license.

will do right now thank you.

  14. Hey Guys, yes i am back from the dead... I lost all my stuff due to a fried hardrive months ago and man that set me back years... Anyways I am now just getting back to setting up LB and I was wondering why it doesn't say my licensed named on it anymore like it use to when ever I would open it...? I got the full version several months ago and wanted to know if this is a new update or is something else wrong..

I am using vers. 7.11 currently
