  2. Full Dedicated Neo Geo Marquees

    Full Dedicated Neo Geo Marquees
    Description
    There where quite a few full size dedicated marquees made for Neo Geo aside from the mini-marquee layouts, there where even some dedicated cabinets as well like Samurai Shodown II, The Irritating Maze and SNK vs Capcom Chaos.
    I wasn't able to restore all the full size Neo Geo marquees out there, the ones I couldn't are included in a folder as well.
    Features
    Full size Marquees for 25 Neo Geo games Made from the highest quality artwork available I could find Cleaned up and color corrected artwork Including restored/remade/revived artwork Exclusive Day mode / Night Mode (unlit/lit) for every marquee Almost all marquees are Ultra HD Resolution; 3840 pixels wide, some are not All are named with 03 and 04 at the end of the rom name so you can use these with my other neo geo marquees. Credits to those that made high quality scans, logo's or other artwork that I found and used to reconstruct the marquees, I don't take full credits of this project thereof.

  3. Neon Deluxe Arcade - Big Box Theme

    Note: This thread will not be pushed to the front in the "whats new" section once updated in the future, if you want notifications for future updates be sure to follow this page by using the follow button in the upper right corner.

    Neon Deluxe Arcade - Big Box Theme (Early version)
    Huge thanks goes out to @Hexxxer for his amazing theme (FutureState) framework and controls (HexControls.dll), without his work I couldn't have made this theme.
    -----------------------------------------------------
    INTRO
    This theme is a sequel to my previous Futurestate Neon Deluxe theme, it looks a lot like the theme but has some features that the prequel had not; like embedded fonts (no need to install fonts, thanks to @Jason Carr) and much more, you just have to see it for yourself. My plan is to drastically change/add things in the future once the magnificent PASC theme editor by @y2guru is released. My main goal with this theme is to create a virtual arcade building kinda like 'New Retro Arcade'.
    Neon Deluxe Arcade is a series of themes, if you like you can download these to accompany the complete theme:
    Neon Deluxe Arcade - Big Box Theme
    Neon Deluxe Arcade - Launchbox Theme
    Neon Deluxe Arcade - Startup Theme (Street)
    Neon Deluxe Arcade - Startup Theme (Inside)
    Mr. RetroLust's Realistic Retroarch Bezels (Same style > Dimmed lit retro gaming)
    This theme uses a softer version of Marquee screen FX, if you like there is more choice at Realistic Marquee Monitor FX
    -----------------------------------------------------
    INSTALLATION
    Download the theme from Big Box's theme manager or download the zip file here and extract the content to Launchbox/Themes/NeonDeluxeArcade/
    You might need to unblock the .DLL's in the plugin folder for them to work properly.
    To make the placeholder work which shows the Cabinets/Advertisement Flyer - Back/Box Back in the screenshots it first needs some changes in your image priority settings within Launchbox. As the cabinets don't have their own placeholder to be coded in a theme I used the Cart 3D placeholder as I figured most people will only use one cart view or can set Cart 3D in image priorities to Cart Front. You can control a lot to your liking within image priorities, as long as you remember it's Cart 3D for this placeholder.
    My setup in image priorities within Launchbox options:

    -----------------------------------------------------
    TIPS & ISSUES
    1. This theme uses images and video pretty heavy, it could run slower on older systems. I recommend doing the following to speed up Big Box greatly:
    Uncheck all Background Images in launchbox/settings/image priorities Set all transitions to "None" in BigBox settings Use the Clean Up media tool in launchbox/tools/Clean Up Media... (this can really speed up lists with thousands of games and duplicate media) Let Launchbox cache your images 2. This theme is probably only fit for use on a 16:9 aspect ratio, as I did use some absolute positioning of elements.
    3. If you use a 4K display you probably have to set the Windows dpi settings to 200% in order to keep the layout intact.
    4. You can find transparent background cabinets here at Arcade Cabinets Project 2.0

    Hope you like and enjoy! 🤘

  4. Mr. RetroLust's Neo Geo Dual Layout Marquees (complete)

    Mr. RetroLust's Neo Geo Dual Layout Marquees (complete)
    Pack 1 & 2 + Bonus Marquees, the full dedicated marquees will be released separately in the future. All these marquees have been uploaded to the launchbox database as well.
    Description
    I made these Marquees exclusively for the LaunchBox community as appreciation for the awesome work, software and everyone that contributes to this amazing community. I find the official single 'mini-marquee' system a bit boring with just one small mini-marquee on a huge red plate and as the games came with more instruction flyers and artwork I got inspired by the dual-marquee layout to use the second placeholder for more artwork, for some games I couldn't find extra flyer material so I used artwork from back-covers and such to fill up the second placeholder. Now it feels a bit more colorful.
    Features
    Marquees for 156 NEO GEO games Made from the highest quality artwork available I could find Cleaned up and color corrected artwork Custom translations from Japanese to English where needed and when possible Including restored/remade/revived artwork Exclusive Day mode / Night Mode (unlit/lit) for every marquee Optimized for 21:9 aspect ratio for full screen ultra-wide marquee monitors All marquees are Ultra HD Resolution; 3840 pixels wide See this thread for more details, kinda like 'the making of' lol:

  5. Arcade Cabinets 2.0 Project

    This project is made possible by @Antny, @Kondorito, @Mr. RetroLust, @dssbob and @Orionsangel
    *IMPORTANT*: If you want to stay up to date of new packs and updates use the "Follow" button in the upper right corner. Any future updates will not be displayed in the "What's New" section.
    The aim of this project is a complete overhaul of the often used cabinet images (Arcade machines, Pinball, and Slots/Casino), including but not limited to:
    Higher resolution and quality versions of up to 2160 pixels vertically (Ultra HD)! All images have a transparent background! Higher accuracy of different regions and versions of cabinets All color corrected and optimized to get the most out of any image Many many new cabinets, previously missing from collections Reconstructed images, either entirely new photo realistic reconstructions or existing images which had previously missing parts added The possibilities of this project are endless, it will let frontends and arcade collections look much better as theme creators will be able to use the arcade cabinets category much more efficiently. Creators, Bloggers, Writers, Reviewers etc. will be able to use these images directly in their media and content enriching the community and history. Arcade games databases can be updated. Any creative process you can think of will be made much easier and look better.
    Please note that future Mame updates might change names of some roms, you might have to manually change the file name of the image in those particular cases, however when this project is eventually finished it will be uploaded completely to the launchbox game database so renaming them won't be necessary.
    So, follow this thread for any new updates!
    It will take a while before we finish the entire project but you will be able to download updates along the way
    An early impression of the project using the FutureState Neon Deluxe theme as an example how we can use these images.

  6. Mr. RetroLust's Marquee Screen Filler Magic

    Mr. RetroLust's Marquee Screen Filler Magic
    Introduction:
    This is for those that like to fill the surrounding empty (black) space of their Marquee screens while maintaining the original Marquee's aspect ratio, what these replacement .xaml files do is duplicate the marquee with a blur effect on the background while the original marquee has a drop shadow, a technique often seen on TV when dealing with Vertical Video Syndrome material (a terrible disease btw, but that's another topic)
    Installation:
    Go to the theme folder of your choice: Launchbox\Themes\*name of the theme*\Views
    Backup the following files! In case you want to revert back to these Marquee files: GameMarqueeView.xaml and PlatformMarqueeView.xaml
    Extract the .xaml files in the zipfile to this folder, start BigBox and see the magic unfold
    Have fun.
    (Screenshots taken from a 21:9 marquee monitor)

    This Startup theme does not use fanart backgrounds but one static image in 4K quality.
    1. The left side has been bound to "Box3DImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list.
    2. The right side has been bound to "Cart3DImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list.
    3. On the left side covering the 3DBox is bound to "CartFrontImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list.
    4. Game logo in Top Center
    Unpack the folder in: LAUNCHBOX\StartupThemes, go to startup settings and choose the title of this theme.
    If you like the startup theme to last longer on your screen, simply delay it to 5 seconds in the launchbox and/or bigbox settings.

  9. Arcade 3D Boxes 2.0

    Happy Christmas or Yule brothers!
    Arcade 3D Boxes 2.0
    Important: Press follow button in the upper right corner to get notified for any future updates to this project, future updates to this page will not be pushed to the "What's New" section.
    I was inspired by the Mame 3D Boxes by @Robin55 and @Reevesad and the work by @spycat and @MadK9
    At first I experimented to convert Robin's work to a darker color as it fits my dark colored setup better, one thing let to another and was helped enormously by @Robin55 in the process of automation and more, if it wasn't for all his help and work this project wouldn't have happened, thanks again so much brother! \m/
    The 3D boxes are mostly for the Mame set (could include other emulators as well) but only includes Arcade video games, no pinball, fruit machines and such.
    Features:
    Covers based on official flyers, instruction flyers or fan art, customized official artwork and more. I've hunted down previously artwork missing from databases and/or very rare flyers, original resolution of these images can be low some times. Each box has a logo for the game, if it was missing I've hunted it down or extracted it from images (I upload these logos to the database as well) Each box has a logo of the company that either developed or published it (some flyers may have a different publisher from another region, bit confusing at times) Each box is manually color corrected, cleaned and optimized Some games have a second alternative version, made from cabinet side art, marquees or from a different region for example Please remember if you miss boxes to also check the naming convention of the file and if it is the same as the most recent version in the database. Any entry with "The" in front (Like The Astyanax) will be included in the QRST pack.
    NOTE! : After installing the images you have to select all (or any alphabetical range) arcade games (CTRL+A = select all) go to Tools and click 'Refresh selected images', let it load and cache and the games should now display the right 3D boxes.
    Hope you like
    Credits
    Thanks go out to anyone contributing and making art for the launchbox games database.
    Thanks for any help, encouragement and advice:

    This theme does not use fanart or platform backgrounds but a static 4K quality background, there are 7 backgrounds to choose from in the themes images folder, the image you want to display should be named "Background-01.jpg". In order to get it working as you see in the screenshots please set your background settings to: CREDITS:
    Huge Thanks to @Grila for the inspiration and his permission and kindness to use his codes for especially the left sidebar and more from his LBPlex Launchbox Theme. Also huge thanks to @Rincewind for the inspiration and his permission and kindness to use his code of the Rincewind Launchbox Theme for full screen background images. I couldn't have made it as it is without you guys!
    FEATURES:
    More than I can mention, you just have to see it in action, one thing I can mention is that it features a bright green and slightly larger cache progress bar so you can't miss it when it's working to make a smooth experience
    INSTALLATION:
    Extract folder "Neon Deluxe Arcade LB" to Launchbox/LBThemes. Open Launchbox, go to Tools/Options/(Leftside bar) Visuals/Choose the theme in the dropdown bar.
    Tip: Tools/Options/Theme/Colors > Choose "Midnight Blue" for anything that was not possible to color change in Launchbox theming.

    Realistic Marquee Monitor FX
    Note: This thread will not be pushed to the front in the "whats new" section, if you want notifications for future updates to this file be sure to follow this page by using the follow button in the upper right corner.
    Part of the Neon Deluxe Arcade series but this can be used for any theme, Realistic Marquee FX in 4K 21:9 (3840x1620), to spice up your marquee monitor
    The FX are composed of different layers of scratched plexi glass, reflection, light and other grungy and dusty layers to get as close to realism as possible, see in the video below how it's been composed.
    Installation
    Please note this was made for use with a 21:9 ultra wide monitor (best bang for your buck considering width and Marquee monitors), other aspect ratios might not look as on screenshots.
    1. Extract folder '_Realistic Marquee FX' in 'Launchbox\Themes'
    2. Within the _Realistic Marquee FX folder are 2 images (for now!)
       a. Realistic Marquee FX - With Marquee holder & Plexi FX.
       b. Realistic Marquee FX Only Plexi - Without the Marquee holder, only Plexi FX.

    3. Choose the style XAML file you want, they are located and named in Zip files.
       a. Realistic Marquee FX - Complete: With Marquee holder, Plexi FX and Magic Screen Filler.

       b. Realistic Marquee FX - Sans Filler: With Marquee holder & Plexi FX but Without Magic Screen Filler.

       c. Realistic Marquee FX - Plexi FX & Filler - Without Marquee holder, With Plexi FX and Magic Screen Filler.

       d. Realistic Marquee FX - Plexi FX only: With Plexi FX but without Magic Screen Filler and Marquee Holder.

    4. Pick the style you like and overwrite the GameMarqueeView.xaml file in the 'your theme of choice/Views' folder, might be a good idea to back up the file first however.
    Enjoy and have fun! 🤘

  13. Arcade & Diner: 5.1 Surround Ambience

    A completely different mix than the one posted yesterday it's composed and mixed in 5.1 Dolby Digital, out of 5 different one hour ambience recordings, each recording is slowly spinning 45 degrees within 5 minutes to either Front Left, Front Right, Surround Right, Surround Left or the Mid-speaker, but they even travel across the matrix in depth, sort of like 3D sound depth. This way the audio hopefully won't become repetitive as with most ambience recordings after a while. Can also be played on stereo systems although the surround effect will be less.
    If you like to simulate an arcade setting, audio helps give it that extra dimension/mood. Just fire up the audio with your media player of choice and MAME-away
    The file is an MKA file, the audio container format of well known MKV video container format. At least MPC-HC and VLC will be able to play it but other players may as well.
    Hope you like!
    p.s. It's also nice to play the 5.1 audio with your eyes closed, strangely it relaxes lol 🤪

  14. Arcade & Diner - Dynamic Stereo Ambience

    If you like to simulate an arcade setting, audio helps give it that extra dimension/mood. Just fire up the mp3 with your media player of choice and MAME-away
    This is an hour long ambience Mp3 file, I mixed several sources of a diner and an arcade together with a dynamic left to right panning mix on 4 tracks, especially useful when you've set up a home cinema / audio set which has the ability of spreading 2 channel stereo to the back speakers as 4 channel stereo. When the dynamic panning sets in it comes really close to a real surround mix, it makes the ambience feel more realistic with depth. Now I haven't tested the file yet with headphones on so be warned, it might not be a suitable mix for this as you might hear too much detail where the rough panning wasn't performed well.

  15. Neon Deluxe Startup Theme

    Note: This thread will not be pushed to the front in the "whats new" section, if you want notifications for future updates to this file be sure to follow this page by using the follow button in the upper right corner.
    A startup theme to accompany the Futurestate Neon Deluxe theme
    I haven't touched the shutdown theme file as I don't use shutdowns.
    1. This theme does not use the backgrounds like usually but one static image stylized to a neon lit brick wall (in 4K quality btw).
    2. The left side has been bound to "Box3DImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list
    3. The right side has been bound to "Cart3DImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list, I've set it to this for use in the above bigbox theme as well:

    4. In the center below it's been bound to "CartFrontImagePath" or what you've set in this image category's priority list.
    Unpack the folder in: LAUNCHBOX\StartupThemes, go to startup settings and choose the title of this theme. If you like to stare longer to the startup screen, simply delay it to 5 seconds in the launchbox and/or bigbox settings.
    Thanks @Retro808 for the inspiration of your startup theme

  16. FutureState Neon Deluxe

    FUTURESTATE NEON DELUXE
    *Click follow to stay informed of important updates*
    ---Introduction---
    This theme started out as a custom color skin for the FutureState theme by Hexxxer, I wanted to make something that would fit my gameroom's dark blue/purple blacklight lit environment, a bit like the good old dark arcades, where light plays an important role to the experience.
    It evolved after months of coding long, long... lloonng hours into this, I had to learn this coding language along the way, I hope it doesn't contain any errors and such.
    Huge thanks go out to @Hexxxer for his amazing theme (FutureState) framework, controls (HexControls.dll) and kind permission, without him I couldn't have done this. Also a huge thanks to @NJDave71  for making it possible to see the game count for playlists through HelperControl_v4.DLL which is included in this theme. Thanks guys! And everyone else for all the inspiration, enthusiasm and dedication.

    Enjoy please read these instructions well!

    ---Installation, Tips & Probable Issues---
    1. This theme uses images and video pretty heavy, it could run slow on older systems, I did add some faster/lighter views, try to see what works for you  after you let the lists cache. Huge lists with thousands of games always run a bit slower as more data is being transfered.
    I recommend doing the following to speed up BigBox greatly:
    * Uncheck all Background Images in launchbox/settings/image priorities
    * Set all transitions to "None" in BigBox settings
    2. This theme is probably only fit for use on a 16:9 aspect ratio, as I did use some absolute positioning of elements, I'm not very experienced yet to make a 4:3 relative positioning version, maybe someone else might be able to make such a version.
    3. If you use a 4K display you probably have to set the Windows dpi settings to 200% in order to keep the layout intact.
    4. You can find transparent background cabinets here at Arcade Cabinets Project 2.0:

    5. Download the theme zip file and extract the content to Launchbox/Themes/ folder.
    6. Install the font file, you can find it in the extracted folder FutureStateNeonDeluxe/_InstallationFiles/
    7. To make the placeholder work which shows the Cabinets/Advertisement Flyer - Back/Box Back in the screenshots needs some changes in your image priority settings within Launchbox.
    8. You might need to unblock the .DLL's in the plugin folder for them to work properly.

    ---Features---
    Slide-in/out platform/game wheel, disappearing when not in use to make room for more possibilities. The logo's have a glow beneath them so you can still see black/dark logo's apart from the background.
    Special Marquee monitor filler magic trick (previously released to be used in other themes as well). Using the empty space around marquees in a special way. If you rather have the default marquee views just copy 'GameMarqueeView.xaml' and 'PlatformMarqueeView.xaml' from the default theme views folder and overwrite in this themes 'views' folder.
    And loads more...

    ---Views Description---
    Platform View 1 (PlatformWheel1FiltersView)
    * A lot of Platform details
    * Device image
    * Large video/image with ambient/glow beneath it
    * Total games counter for platforms and playlists
    Platform View 2 (PlatformWheel2FiltersView)
    * Same as Platform View 1 except for a few differences
    * Fanart platform image in place of device image
    * Device image to the right side overlaying video/image
    Platform View 3 (PlatformWheel3FiltersView)
    * Same as Platform View 2 except for a few differences
    * Details panel makes room for full size video/image
    Platform View 4 (PlatformWheel4FiltersView)
    * Full screen video/image
    Platform View 5 (TextFiltersView)
    * Text list of Platforms
    * In the mid collumn Platform banner image, device image, fanart image
    * Even more details about the platform/playlist

    Games View 1 (WheelGamesView)
    * 2 Game Screenshots
    * Details I found useful
    * Game description
    * 3D box (You can switch image view on this placeholder with a button) with Cart image overlaying.
    * Cabinet/Back Box/Back Flyer overlaying on left side over video/image
    * Details overlaying video/image like your star rating, developer, publisher, genre, playmode.
    * Custom icons for Broken, Portable, Completed, Favorite and ESRB rating.
    * Platform logo in the middle
    * Scanlines overlaying the video/image
    Games View 2 (Wheel2GamesView)
    Same as Games View 1 but with Cabs/Back to the right side
    Games View 3 (Wheel3GamesView)
    Same as Games View 1 & 2 but without cabs/back and without scanlines over the video, for views which have high quality video's and/or theme video's
    Games View 4 (Wheel4GamesView)
    A view which might be more suitable for quick browsing, slower systems and require more game details.
    * Cab images without transparency look better in this view
    * Static logo wheel
    * Video below with glow beneath. The cabs/back images are filling the screen (maintaining aspect ratio) to the right for better readability of back covers and high quality cab images. I prefer this view for inspecting/sorting out my games.
    * Larger Icons right/below side.
    Games View 5 (TextGamesView)
    A view to see even more game details, without video, the idea here is you can see the front and back image side by side while being able to read the back image. As if you would hold the cover in your hand.
    * Static Text wheel
    * Many details
    * Large Icons
    * Box/Advertisement fronts beneath image
    * Cabs/Back to the right
    Games View 6 (GameDetailsView)
    Same as Games View 5

  17. Mr. RetroLust's Arcade Marquees (Missing, Rare, Custom etc.)

    Missing, rare, previously unavailable & custom Marquees. Be sure to follow (button above) this thread as I upload it regularly with new Marquees. I try to find, restore, clean up, vectorize & color correct the marquees as best as I can and in max 3840 pixels wide (ultra HD) pixel dimensions. Some times I'll add custom made marquees when there isn't any marquee available made from official artwork and flyer sources, I'll mention it when they are custom made.

    I was looking for the full art (without any text or logo's) of this legendary megadrive/genesis Ghouls'n Ghosts cover, I couldn't find it anywhere so I reconstructed it.
    I've wanted this as a poster in my game room for a long time and so may you perhaps, now we can  Maybe it can serve for other purposes as well.
