Tools/manage emulators/retroarch/associated platforms. Launchbox wont magically know which core you want to use, you have to tell it.

Thanks, I actually found it right after I sent the previous reply.

Most of them stated that they are missing the core file, because they are pointed to the wrong cores.  How do I change the default core setting for each console?

Edit: Nevermind, just figured that out too.  I'll fix these and see if that resolved the issue.

Edit 2:  That did the trick!  I guess I just got lucky with the core defaults on other setups.  Thanks a lot!

have you edited the emulator and made sure the core is matching the core you have downloaded or that the core hasn't updated and changed names slightly?

Dumb question, but where do I set/change the default core for each console?  I just point them to RA when I import to LB, and I only download one core for each console in RA.

Edit: I found it under Associated Platforms, and I think I found the issue: they all say Missing Core File.  How do I change the defaults to a different core?

  3. I've set up a lot of PCs with LB/BB and usually have few issues, but occasionally I run into one where this happens, and I can't figure out why.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling LB, uninstalling and reinstalling RA, but no dice.  The path is pointed to the correct location for RA and my roms, and they launch fine in RA stock.  But when I try to run them in LB, nothing happens.  This is the case with all roms for all consoles.

One oddity I notice is that sometimes LB tries to launch a game with the wrong RA core.  I'm not sure if this is a setting in LB or RA, though.

  4. I don't believe I ever turned Attract Mode on, but I'll take a look when I get home.

At first, this message would only pop up for a split second in Big Box when I tried to escape to the options screen from the game select screen, then crash.  Now it just seems to do so randomly when BB is open.  This is the only time the error messages stayed on the screen for more than a second, so I took pics.

  5. Big Box 10.10 keeps crashing on the game select screen.  At first, it would only do this when I tried to exit to the options menu, but now it keeps doing it randomly, making it pretty much unusable.  I have updated Windows 10 Pro (currently on build 1909), updated LB/BB, and uninstalled and reinstalled LB/BB, but I am still experiencing the issue.  I've attached pics of the error that I'm getting.2034260090_20200207_1910011.thumb.jpg.3f5deeaa94cf1ab21accd5de4fc4e7b0.jpg609389385_20200207_1910321.thumb.jpg.17e33afc3d45a3d74899bf204bdde1a9.jpg2073750975_20200207_1910431.thumb.jpg.43172150cc7dc2e5b62e3e31c703a76b.jpg

  6. Since the update to the newest version of Big Box, I've encountered a couple of weird issues:

    - When I open a MAME game, the game screen is almost immediately minimized, leaving only the Big Box game selection screen visible.  I have to escape out of Big Box and maximize the MAME window to get to the game.

    - When I use the Back hotkey on the game selection screen, instead of taking me to the options, it instead closes Big Box entirely.  I tried remapping Back to another button but it behaves the same way.

I suggest that you keep Windows up to date and yes that can occasionally break things but as you see not updating can break things also.

That was actually the very first thing I tried, but Windows Update told me I was already up to date, so I dismissed it as the problem.  I even checked Services to ensure it was actually running.  Freaking Windows, man.

If your Windows 10 was up to date you would already have 4.7 (for months now) without LB trying to install it

Well, I tried to run the cleanup utility and one of the options to clean up was 4.7, though when I look in C>Windows>Microsoft.NET, the latest version that shows up is 4.0.

Big Box keeps prompting me to install 4.7, though.

Well I am at a bit of a loss, there is zero reason why it shouldn't install on a Windows 10 system.

Are you running any third party antivirus?

No anti-virus currently, I set this up to be a dedicated MAME machine.

The install attempt states that my operating system is unsupported, even though I easily meet the requirements.
