Contributors @jayjay and @JoeViking245 A HUGE Special Thanks goes to GreatStone’s utility “hi2txt”. This utility converts MAME’s high score files into a readable format which ultimately makes this plugin possible!! http://greatstone.free.fr/hi2txt/index.html Installation and setup instructions: Step 1: Installing the Plugin Step 2: Making sure MAME is set up to save high scores Installing the Plugin: Download the plugin, LB-BB_Hi_Scores_v1.0.zip, from the LaunchBox download section After you’ve downloaded the zip file, be sure to unblock it in Windows by right clicking it, selecting Properties, and clicking Unblock Open the zip file and extract/copy the "Hi_Scores" folder into ..\LaunchBox\Plugins e.g D:\LaunchBox\Plugins\ If you have previously installed “MAME Hi-Score Display - A plugin for BigBox”, you will only to copy the “HiScoreCustomField.dll” file into that same folder. Otherwise all 3 files are required. The 2 plugins will not conflict with each other. Setting up MAME to save high scores: Using a recent official MAME release – By default, plugins are enabled in MAME. You can verify this by looking at the “mame.ini” file located in the root MAME install folder. Open “mame.ini” and scroll down to (or press Control + F and search for) “Scripting Options”. “plugins” should be set to 1. If it’s 0 (zero), change it to 1. Next, open “plugin.ini” also located in MAME’s root directory and change “hiscore” to 1. If you have an older release of MAME, you may need to do the following steps. Go to this website: http://www.mameworld.info/highscore/download.htm and download a copy of the file hiscore.dat that corresponds to your version of MAME. The file (hiscoredat.zip) will need to be unzipped. Place the file hiscore.dat in your MAME/Plugins folder Open up your MAME.ini file in a text editor. In newer versions, this file will be in the same directory as the MAME.exe Press control + F and search for “Scripting Options” Next to the word Plugins, type “1” no quotes Next to the word Plugin, type “hiscore” no quotes It will look like this: How to use: Start LaunchBox or BigBox Go into the "Arcade" Platform Select a game, run it, then close it Now select a different game, then go back (poor man’s version to refresh the Game Details) If the game has saved high scores, they will now appear in that game’s Detail pane Depending on the BigBox theme you use, the amount of data shown in the Game Details may be limited. So you might need to go into Options, Game Details and deselect some of the Details. Be sure that “Custom Fields” is checked. 3. Hello everyone just your usual scrub here, Right now I am trying to have Mednafen load just the cue file in launchbox because that emulator runs everything extremely clean, how would I go about doing that exactly? Is it a setting on the emulator or launchbox and if it is launchbox what exactly is command line I should input so that only the .cue file is read related to the game.
  4. Hi guys ! My setup of Launchbox/Bigobox is all fine on my computer and I can launch all platforms and play my games without any issues. Things get annoying for me when I want to play my games on my Tv through HDMI. Here is why : I can play all games when I use stand alone emulators (snex9, yabause, epsxe, etc.) except when I choose to play them through Retroarch. This multiplatform emulator works fine when I use it on my computer but crashes when my computer is connected through hdmi to my tv ! I searched on the forums and googled this problem but no one seems to have that issue Can anyone please help me solve this problem since I don’t want to configure stand alone emulator for each platform. It’s a lot more convenient to play my games and platforms using just retroarch Thanks in advance for your help
  5. Hello all, I've been scratching my head with this one for a while now and it's starting to get frustrating, and so I've come to the forums after exhausting all other options that came to my head. Recently, I had the smart idea to upload Launchbox, ROMs and Emulators to my Google Drive, as I heard Launchbox is portable (despite needing to change the paths for the ROMs and Emulators. I did that, got it all set up OK with the filepaths, the ROMs and Emulators are being found just fine. However, I'm getting this error: So, I can see that it seems to be an issue with VLC and the libvlc.dll I can see in the VLC folder, using my google-fu I looked this up and it was recommended to close LB/BB, delete the VLC folder and re-run LB/BB. This creates the folder again, however, the same error still remains. Tried this a few times, even launching as admin to no avail. I've checked the properties of the .dll file as I saw on another post that they can be blocked, this wasn't the case for me I don't see that tickbox. I'm going to wager that LaunchBox cannot find the .dll as if there's a filepath that hasn't been changed, I've searched through every .xml and .config but, alas, I can't find anything. Please help! EDIT: Another interesting development, if I choose Windows Media Player for video playback in Launchbox, the error does not appear, however, no matter the setting in BigBox the error always appears on launch before the start-up video.
  6. Hi guys i have a question i have xenia downloaded and launchbox i can launch xbox 360 iso's through the emulator but when i launch them through launchbox I get this a target error but when i right like and check the directory path is right and when i right lick and laucn the emulator it boots the games just not when i double click on the game this pic is what i get does anyone know why its giving me a error? Im new here so thanks for any help in advance.
  7. Lately I've been getting some odd notifications when starting retroarch via launchbox. Here's what happens: I'll select a game while in BigBox mode. Then, when I press the guide button on my xbox one controller, I get the following notifications in retroarch: "Waiting for client" "Joined as Player 1" (then after about 25 seconds) "port remap failed" It's only after I receive the final message that I can do anything such as save/load state. Now, I realize LaunchBox has nothing to do with retroarch from a development standpoint, but when I start retroarch directly, I don't get any of these odd notifications. I would also like to point out that I'm not using any special launch parameters. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this? Thank you in advance for your help!
  8. I am using an older gaming PC I built 10+ years ago. (Intel Dual Core E7400, 4 GB Ram, 512 MB Radeon 4850). I have been running MAME with it for a while with no issues at all so I have been thinking of a front end and have decided on LB mostly on the advice of ETA Prime and his awesome YouTube channel. I installed LB and imported all 2800+ games with no major issues until I went to run my first game. I received a "Low memory must shutdown" (paraphrasing of course) error message and LB quit. I opened LB up again and it worked fine but only had a few minutes to play with it before heading to work. Forums tell me the longer LB runs, the more RAM it eats up, which makes sense because it spent 8+ hours importing all that data (I imported everything but emumovie). My motherboard limits me to 4 GB of memory which seems to be plenty for emulating games, but perhaps not enough to run Launchbox to its fullest, which is a bummer....so my question is this: Windows has a function that allows you to use a flashdrive for additional "RAM." With 4 GM RAM and another 32GB from the flashdrive, will that be sufficient to run LB? I won't use "attract mode" which apparently is a huge RAM hog. However, will I be able to use BigBox as a front end (I plan to upgrade if LB will work), with only some of the bells and whistles? If so, what options can/should I run with only 4GM RAM and some extra help from a flash drive? What should I disable to help things run smoother? I'm thinking I'll pick up a cheap refurbished PC on Ebay in the coming weeks or months but I just built a new cabinet and really want to run LB immediately. Thank you in advance to anyone who actually read this and wishes to help a hapless noob
  9. Hi community, I'm looking for a best practice solution. I presently have a MAME cabinet with Launchbox and BigBox (best thing ever created since sliced bread btw) installed on a NAS and I run LB/BB directly from the NAS over the network. I connected the cabinet directly via Ethernet to get better speed. Some games take a little longer to load but overall the experience is great. I configured it this was knowing that I would like to either get more cabinets or devices to play my games in the future. I just purchased a new TV and plugged a PC directly to it. Now I have 2 Logitech Gamepads and would like to like to play my games through it as well. The issue I am having is that all the emulators in LB/BB have been configured to play with the controls on the MAME cabinet and because I'm sharing LB/BB on the network, the gamepads are not configured on the emulators. I'm looking for the best (and easiest) way to get this working properly. I'm also planning on connecting LB/BB to more devices Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Lawrence
  10. Hiya. First off, LaunchBox rules, and I love every bit of it. However, I'm trying to use a RetroArch core(PCSX ReArmed) For my Playstation games. They launch fine if I open RetroArch, and open a game file through the program, but if I try to launch the game through LaunchBox or Big Box itself, I will get a loading icon, but the game never launches. Is there an option or something I am missing, or any tips/tricks?

My work blends a few influences relevant to the platform while showcasing the machine itself along with the games the platform ran: 1) Music made using sounds available on the platform (where possible) 2) The platform's boot screen (if possible) 3) Commercial influences usually in the form of the platform's marketing jingle. 4) The platform's packaging. In this way, the platform video itself gives an accurate interpretation of what the platform is, was marketed as, and what it looked and sounded like. 13. Hello All, This is a follow up to my previous post regarding demul and Sega Naomi. I was able to import the Naomi games thanks to @DOS76, unfortunately when I try to launch a GD rom, demul appears but nothing happens after that. I receive no errors from Launchbox or Demul. Could this be an issue with a plugin in Demul? Non-GD roms are able to launch fine and I have the roms & bios directory highlighting my mame folder with a merged chd set included. Thanks!
  14. To start this off, I am new to launchbox and I don't really know much about the technical stuff, I just use it to run older games. So my problem is that, when I was importing some ROMS, I forgot to select the platform that they should be put in and left it on the default which is "all." And because of this, I now have 2 platforms titled "all" and it will not allow me to delete them. I have a bit of OCD when it comes to organizing files and such so this bothers me. Is there anything I can do to get rid of one of them? I attached an image of the problem. Thank you. Also, if I am asking on the wrong forum, let me know.
  15. Can't seem to find the answer to this, though I found a very similar post, that seems to have gone unanswered: I have my bin/cue Neo Geo CD games loading directly from Retroarch using the FBAlpha core. But, I cannot seem to get these to launch form within Launchbox. I used to do this through RocketLauncher, but i'm sick and tired of using it and would like to streamline things. Any ideas? I'm probably missing something simple... i'm still a little new to LB.
  16. I am trying to download game clips (videos) from EmuMovies. I thought in the past that there was an video option under the Download Metadata and Media Wizard window. However, video download doesn't seem to be an option. Am I missing something?

    Exit in PES 2010

Hi everyone, I have a problem with PES2010 for Windows (on bartop), it is the only game that with the EXIT button that I assigned to the CAB, not only does not work but gives problems and can no longer return to the game or to bigbox . Does anyone know a method to fix the delta from this title to return to BigBox, or remove the EXIT function of BigBox just for this title so as to use the natural EXIT of the game? Thank you
  18. I have downloaded a pack of Actionmax shooter games and I wanted to add them to LaunchBox. They play well from the batch file but I am having difficulty adding them to rocket launcher or directly to launchbox. Mad Dog, Mad Dog 2 etc...

  20. Hi, I have windows 10 (64 bit), the latest version of Launchbox, and Retroarch. I am new to the emulation world. I originally had just a full set of SNES games and a few MAME games. Other than a few MAME games not playing, the SNES worked perfectly. Well, I added Sega, and NES. Once I did that I noticed my games drag at like half speed. Not just the new ones but the SNES as well. Music, the game itself, going from one screen to the next. It’s weird. Has anyone ever encountered this before? I feel like it’s a problem associated with Retroarch as its a gameplay issue, but I’m not sure. Thoughts?
  21. Hey! I was wondering how to add Breakout to Launchbox. This game does not have any rom files associated with it (that I downloaded) weirdly enough and as such I cannot find out how to add it to Launchbox.

  23. I've just started using this service and I'm feeling kind of a idiot asking about this, but.. I am trying to register into the cloud service through the LaunchBox app, but I'm having a problem about my login info.. The app tells me that I'm using incorrect login info, but I hve no toruble when I try to login on the website, as you guys can tell as I'm using the forum. However when I try to see my info on the website, it shows a smaller password than the one I created for my account, and I don't know what is this about.. I'm sure I am trying to use the exact same password on both websire and app, but there is something wrong with it, and I don't know what is it.. Maybe you guys can help me please..
