Nostalgia uses the amazing platform videos created by @viking to create a per-system theme; thanks to viking for letting me derive from and name my theme after his work. It's designed for 16:9; tested at HD but not 4k since I don't have a 4k setup. Please let me know if you spot problems or have suggestions. It relies on a set of plugin controls I created, so you'll have to unblock either the entire zip file, or more specifically the DLL files in the theme's Plugins folder (see below). Due to its reliance on certain plugin features, the current version of this theme requires LB version 10+. Bundled with Nostalgia are some clear logos from viking's silver ring set, along with a few extras. Also bundled are platform banners created by @Grila and @Omen. For the best experience (including CRT curvature effects for videos), I recommend setting BigBox to use Windows Media Player. Platform Views: Background as the current platform (from viking's video set) including a video playing within the arcade cabinet, TV screen, etc. If there is no video for the selected platform, category, or playlist, a random list of relevant game videos are played instead. If no vids are available, screenshots are used. Platform, category, or playlist details are displayed to the left of the screen. Game Views: Selected game is displayed within a platform-specific background. If no game video exists, the game's screenshots are played as a slideshow while the game's soundtrack (if found in your LB setup) is played in the background. If neither game nor screenshots exist, a video of TV static plays. Game details are displayed to the left of the screen. Filter Views: E.g., Genres, Series, etc -- in this view, a random list of game videos for the selected Series, etc. will play. KNOWN ISSUES: (1) 3DS and DS videos do not display properly. This is due to how they were captured, i.e., with both screens on these dual screen devices being squished into a single video. A potential workaround is to crop out the auxiliary screen from these videos and use on the part from the main screen. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. I think handbrake would work for batch cropping. (2) There are missing platform backgrounds. I tried to include the most common platforms. Viking's background set is quite thorough; please send me any requests. NOTE: Unblocking the ZIP file will also unblock the DLLs (e.g., Ao.Bigbox.Themer.dll and others) contained therein, giving your computer permission to run these DLLs. This is an issue with all plugins you might download from this forum. It's a Windows security feature. You basically have to vouch for a file before Windows will use it. I liken it to how a MS office document you download from an email runs in Protected Mode until you unblock it for printing, editing, etc. Below is the error you'll see if you don't unblock the file, as well as a screenshot of the solution.

ComixBox v1.0.2 BigBox Theme 2/23/2017 Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ComixBox is a theme based on old school comic book design. It relies heavily on having the proper artwork scraped for your systems and games including background fan art, screenshots, front cover images, etc. ComixBox also features some advanced animation techniques that have never been seen before in BigBox. Separate views were made for the diferent video snap aspects available. Utilize the option "Remember Separate View for Each Platform" in BigBox Options - Views to get the best visual from the theme (to avoid blank space on the sides of your video snaps). Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the fonts Bangers and Clementine, which are included in the root theme folder. Install them before running BigBox. * The animations in the theme were ultimately just me experimenting with some stuff to try and bring something new to a BigBox theme. I thought they ended up pretty neat so I left them in. I do have a version without them that I'm planning on adding to the .ZIP file shortly. * The theme was ultimately designed for 1920x1080 but was tested to be fully working at these resolutions as well: 1280x720 1366x768 1600x900 Changelog ~~~~~~~~~~~ v1.0.2 (2/23/2017): Changed all the videos to use the background video object so they would stretch to fill their appropriate spaces Forced platform and game background videos to "On" in the theme settings file to compensate for the above change v1.0.1 (2/21/2017): Added fade effect to the title section so the text doesn't appear until after the animation passes (applies to platform and game views 1, 2, and 3) Added the transition selector codes back to the text views that was erroneously removed during development v1.0.0 (2/20/2017): Initial release
  3. RΞfΔktΦR View File RΞfΔktΦR is a relatively simple text view-based theme showcasing videos and screenshots while keeping things clean. It's designed to work with either 16:9 or 4:3 displays, though you might need to tweak some settings using the configuration guide (out the box it's setup for 16:9). Due to its reliance on certain plugin features, the current version of this theme requires LB version 10+. It works with either WMP or VLC but runs more smoothly and uses less CPU with WMP. Refaktor is also now integrated with WootLauncher for a seamless experience. 4. FluxCRT View File FluxCRT is a relatively simple text view-based retro theme. It's designed for 16:9 monitors and displays filter and game videos (or screenshots) in a 4:3 format, using the Ao.Bigbox.Themer video engine. FluxCRT applies a CRT barrel distortion effect when using Windows Media Player. It's bundled with a collection of category, playlist, and platform banners; to which one can easily add their own banners. Due to its reliance on certain plugin features, the current version of this theme requires LB version 10+. CUSTOMIZATION: See bundled PDF documents. FluxCRT was designed and tested on a 1920x1080 display with 100% (default) text scaling, so you might need to adjust the font sizes (should pertain to options page only) if your display is otherwise; edit the font sizes at the top part of FluxCRT.xaml in the Styles directory as needed. WOOTLAUNCHER INTEGRATION: FluxCRT integrates with WootLauncher... WootLauncher-v1.3.mp4 https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/1619-wootlauncher/ EMULATOR OVERLAYS: These overlays should pair nicely with this theme: NOTE: Unblocking the ZIP file will also unblock the DLLs (e.g., Ao.Bigbox.Themer.dll and others) contained therein, giving your computer permission to run these DLLs. This is an issue with all plugins you might download from this forum. It's a Windows security feature. You basically have to vouch for a file before Windows will use it. The idea of this set is to place the gameplay video in context, with the hardware of its time. A touch of nostalgia to better understand an unknown material especially for the youngest. Most of the montages use the EmuMovie gameplay videos. The others are mine. This video set is also available in 4:3 ratio here I also share the gameplay videos I create with the help of the community. On EmuMovie FTP : "Upload here > _Video Snap Submissions > Viking (Platform Video)" /!\ IMPORTANT NEWS /!\ Dad of 2 young children, I dont have enough time to make another video. Thanks to him, @dragon57 are nicely create new video for this set. You can find additional videos here. 9. Fundamental Theme View File Fundamental is a clean theme that focuses on big artwork. Large, high quality covers are recommended to get the best visual appearance. ********************************************************************************************************************* A couple of notes about this theme: - After unzipping, you have to unblock the DLL that contains the font (in the plugin folder). -Requires the font Bebas Neue, included in the root theme folder. Install it before running BigBox. -Any display scaling above or below 100% is likely to cause alignment issues with some theme elements. -Because of the way the videos and their rounded corner mask re-size based on aspect ratio, you have to use WMP with this theme. VLC aligning in BigBox is horribly buggy at the moment and it doesn't work with the way things are accomplished in this theme. -I realize I could have accomplished my UI background files in pure XAML. I tested this and it decreased the theme's performance substantially, so I reverted back to using the images. -This theme is based around high quality vertical covers (1534x2100) for all platforms and game boxes (yes, even Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64). A good collection of them can be found at http://www.thecoverproject.net/. The theme will work with horizontal covers, it just won't look as intended. -Background opacity for the text based views is changed in the BigBox "Options" menu. A good setting range is 75-90 percent depending on your display. -I've included 12 custom platform banners that I made based on each systems game boxes. I may make a few more, but don't count on it. Be creative and make the ones you're missing yourself. Submitter Grila Submitted 01/25/2017 Category Big Box Custom Themes

Genesis State is the first of a couple themes I plan on producing specifically meant to emulate the feeling of the original game systems box art styles. This theme is purely for use with the Sega Genesis emulators (you can use it for other systems but why would you?). It currently has one view for game play style videos. Looking for some feedback and ideas on how to improve it. Let me know. I plan to add some more views based on feedback. Thanks to @eatkinola for use of his Themer addon, I used it to create the random video background effect.

  12. Switch Theme View File Switch v1.0.3 BigBox Theme 8/30/2017 Display scaling over 100% will cause alignment issues with the platform wheel banner images. Switch Changelog: v1.0.3 (8/30/2017): - moved the GrilaControlLibrary.dll to the theme Plugins folder, which is an added feature since the theme release (the .dll will still need to be un-blocked before launching BigBox) - fixed the large outline bug reported by @jamesclarke555 (thanks again for reporting it to me) v1.0.2 (5/2/2017): - redesigned Text Games View (thanks for the inspiration @NahuelDS) v1.0.1 (4/21/2017): - Dark version added v1.0.0 (4/20/2017): - Initial release Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Switch is a very lightweight, clean theme that was designed to be as close to the original UI as possible. There isn't much artwork in this one: banners for the platform wheel view, covers for the box game view, and a video snap in the game details screen so it should run pretty smooth on low spec systems. It includes a custom control library that I've started to build that contains the battery status indicator as well as a separate 12 and 24 hour clock (since we can't change the format of the built-in one without changing Windows settings). Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the file GrilaControlLibrary.dll to be un-blocked before launching BigBox. Make sure to do this for both the light and dark versions of the theme. * Utilizes the font Oxygen-Regular, which is included in the root theme folder. Install it before running this theme. * Designed for 1920x1080. I can't guarantee it will work at any other resolutions (really only the platform wheel), even in the same aspect ratio, because of the margin that is applied to the wheel to get it off center. The box game view and all text views are NOT affected by this and will work at any resolution, although text spacing and some other misc. elements may not look as perfect as they do at 1080. * Included is a sound pack for BigBox. Move it from the theme directory to LaunchBox\Sounds and select it in the BigBox options menu. It can also be downloaded here https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/467-switch/ * I've included some extra buttons and controller images along with the .PSD and .AI files to edit them if you feel the need. The extras can be swapped out to fit your system by simply copying them from the extras folder to the core image folder and renaming them. The file names have to match what's in the XAML, so you'll need to overwrite or delete the ones you are changing. Filenames are controller.png, play_button.png, and back_button.png. Greetings all, I've been a huge fan of the Nostalgia video sets that Viking and Dragon57 created and have been using them on my Big Box for a long while at this point. A few months back I asked them for permission and access to the source files for the playlist set and they generously provided them (to everyone!) I've been pretty busy since that time but lately I've been working on various playlist/genre videos in the style of the "Playlists" video from that set. Feel free to edit them as well. Thanks again to Viking and Dragon57 for making these possible. I've made a matching Clear Logo Set that can be found here: Current List: Ace Combat Armored Core Assassins Creed Baseball Basketball Batman Castlevania Contra Crash Bandicoot DC (Comics) Disney Final Fantasy Football Golf Hockey James Bond Mario Marvel (Comics) Mega Man Metroid Olympics Pac-man Racket Sports (same as tennis other than center screen) Sonic Spider-man Star Wars Tennis Wrestling X-Games (e.g. skateboarding, skydiving, snowboarding, etc.) Zelda

Enhancements · The UI has been re-designed · 5 Views per Platform and Game (4 x Horizontal and 1 Text) · The supplied Configurator.exe makes it easy for the end user to personalize the Theme from color options, wallpaper, video borders, video border overlays and the use of Clear Logos, Boxes etc.. · Contains a new plugin, game genre and play modes are now represented with the use of icons!! The typical “Action;Platformer;Shooter” text is no more! · Code and graphics have been optimized, ensuring the user experience is not degraded even when the Theme is running on a lower spec system. Note: Theme works very very well on a GPD Win2, no performance issues whatsoever. Thank you to the following: - @HugoBR @harryoke @Grila @eatkinola @Undertherainbow A very special thank you to @Rincewind, his valuable time, contributions and ideas pushed me to develop a far greater theme than I had originally planned or imagined. 17. BigForce Theme View File BigForce v1.0.0 BigBox Theme 02/08/2017 Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BigForce is a modern, dark theme focused around the visual style of the computer graphics giant, nVidia. The idea is based off a RetroFE theme called Ergo Proxy by ryuuji that I adapted and modified for BigBox. Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the fonts geforce-bold.ttf and geforce-light.ttf. Both are included in the root theme folder. Install them before running BigBox. * This theme is designed for 1080 but works well at the following resolutions with one missing reflection (due to the way it was implemented): -1280x720: no reflection of the details on the text views -1366x768: no reflection of the details on the text views -1600x900: partial reflection of the details on the text views * If you have your games rated in LaunchBox (5-star rating system), it will be reflected in the theme. * I made this based on high quality vertical covers for all systems, it's not going to look right with horizontal covers. I am aware of this, there's no need to tell me. A good source for these is http://www.thecoverproject.net/. * Included are a handful of vertical platform banners I made based off eash system's original box design. If the ones you need aren't included, get creative and make your own. Submitter Grila Submitted 02/08/2017 Category Big Box Custom Themes

19. Nostalgia Playlist Videos View File Greetings all, I've been a huge fan of the Nostalgia video sets that Viking and Dragon57 created and have been using them on my Big Box for a long while at this point. I've made a matching Clear Logo Set that can be found here: Current List: Ace Combat Armored Core Assassins Creed Baseball Basketball Batman Castlevania Contra Crash Bandicoot DC (Comics) Disney Final Fantasy Football Golf Hockey James Bond Mario Marvel (Comics) Mega Man Metroid Olympics Pac-man Racket Sports (same as tennis other than center screen) Sonic Spider-man Star Wars Tennis Wrestling X-Games (e.g. skateboarding, skydiving, snowboarding, etc.) Zelda Submitter JPGIII Submitted 02/06/2019 Category Playlist Theme Videos

Fundamental is a clean theme that focuses on big artwork.
  22. To quickly get to the point: I have an ultrawide monitor. 21:9 aspect ratio, 3440x1440 resolution. It's a great monitor, I love it. But, it's not a very common aspect ratio (certainly not in the emulator world) and thus things get a bit annoying. Launchbox, bigbox, emulators etc. etc. all work fine on this screen (or at the very least a lot better than Hyperspin), that's not the problem. The thing is, pretty much all media files are in a 16:9 format. I see a cool video-collection in the downloads section; arg, 16:9. I see a cool set of backgrounds; arg 16:9. I don't have the skill nor the time to start creating piles upon piles of my own 21:9 media, so I'm wondering if it's possible to force BigBox in a 16:9 aspect ratio (thus with black bars on the sides in my case). I'm not 100% sure if it would look better at 16:9 or not (in my personal opinion of course), but that's what I would like to find out. Forcing bigbox to 16:9 on my 21:9 screen instead of creating 21:9 media would have the added benefit though that if I were to take my launchbox installation (which is on an external hdd) to another pc which has a normal 16:9 monitor it would still look fine instead of having stretched out media. So... Any thoughts on this? Any idea how (or if) I can force bigbox in 16:9? Thanks!
  23. PASC V3.zip View File Enhancements · The UI has been re-designed · 5 Views per Platform and Game (4 x Horizontal and 1 Text) · The supplied Configurator.exe makes it easy for the end user to personalize the Theme from color options, wallpaper, video borders, video border overlays and the use of Clear Logos, Boxes etc.. Setup 1. Unblock the .zip file once downloaded 2. Install the 3 fonts located in the fonts subfolder 3. Click the PASC V3 Configurator.exe - This will allow you to personalize the appearance. 25. Minimal-EVO View File Minimal-EVO is a text view-based theme deriving from Minimal-AO. It retains the skinning feature of AO while getting back the the roots of MinimalHD created by @Grila. It works best if you have a good set of platform and game videos, but it also works well with images from which it will create a slideshow (if there are no videos). The theme will look for a video whenever possible, e.g., it will loop through all videos in a series when on the View Series page in BB. Minimal-EVO also features an overlay with platform or game metadata, and a set of icons to represent genre, etc. The file Ao.Bigbox.Themer.vXX.dll.config can be tweaked based on how you name your categories, platforms, genres, etc. Due to its reliance on certain plugin features, the current version of this theme requires LB version 8+. For customization, I'll defer for now to the instructions bundled with Minimal-AO, as the customization is very similar.
