    Unified

Unified View File This theme is a port of the HyperSpin Unified Widescreen Megatheme project, which was originally started by gibbawho and continued by many other talented artists over the years. It’s supposed to bring a unified look (hence the name) across all platforms while giving every platform it’s own individual touch. I’ve tried to stay very close to the original look and feel but also took some creative freedom, especially when it comes to the new fading info panel at the bottom of the screen. This theme was designed for 16:9 screens and display resolutions only. Big Box will automatically scale itself to a 16:9 aspect ratio when you use a different aspect ratio on your machine. Features: Individual Artwork for a lot of different platforms and playlists + some alternatives you can choose from Matches with the Unified platform video set from EmuMovies Fully animated wheel pointer Spinning discs for disc-based platforms Various other custom animations Templates to build your own platform artwork are included as .psd files Brings a small taste of the HyperSpin feeling to your Big Box setup Currently featured Views: Games Text List View: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 1: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 2: 3D Box + static cart/disc Games Vertical Wheel View 3: 3D Box + rotating disc Games Vertical Wheel View 4: Fullscreen video Platform Vertical Wheel View 1: Fullscreen video + scrolling text Platform Vertical Wheel View 2: Fullscreen video without scrolling text More Views are planned, so stay tuned. The theme includes artwork for the following 498 Platforms/Playlists: The theme will also display a default artwork for Platforms/Playlists which are not yet covered or wrongly named. How to install: This theme only works on LaunchBox version 9.4 or higher! Just download the archive and extract it to: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Go to the “Plugins” folder inside of the extracted folder and right-click on the .dll file. Choose Properties -> Click on “Unblock” at the bottom of the window. Close the window. If the "Unblock" button isn't there than you are already good to go. Open the Options menu in Big Box -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to "Unified". Change the “Games List View” and “Platforms List View” to one of the currently featured Views that are listed above. Make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled. Info: Never rename the theme folder! The theme folder has to be named exactly "Unified" or the theme won't work properly! (that's btw. an universal tip for all other themes as well) Known issues: The logo of the Platform/Playlist and the individual video border don't show up in the Game Details screen and the theme displays the generic Big Box logo and metallic video border instead when it gets opened through any other Games View than the Text List View. Tips for tweaking your LaunchBox setup for this theme: In LaunchBox: Tools -> Options -> Cart Front Priorities -> Select all Cart and Disc related entries, deselect everything else. In Big Box: Options ->Transitions -> Change "Game Image/Video Transition” to “Fade” In Big Box: To avoid spinning cart art go to: Options -> Views -> Make sure that „Remember separate View for each platform” is checked. Than go either to the Keyboard Mappings or the Controller Buttons settings and set up a key/button for “Switch View”. Now you can go back to your platforms and switch the games Views for each platform individually on the fly. Use the Unified Platform videos from EmuMovies for an overall uniform look. You can either download them as free user from the EmuMovies website or if you are an EmuMovies premium user you can get them directly through LaunchBox under: Tools -> "Download Platform/Playlist Theme Videos". Individual platform artwork not showing up?: The media files that are inside the “..\LaunchBox\Themes\Unified\Images\Theme\..” folder have to be named exactly like your platforms inside LaunchBox. I've went with the HyperList/RocketLauncher naming conventions for the filenames in this package. If Big Box doesn’t show any individual artwork for a system that is listed above you may need to manually rename the relevant files for that platform in all four sub-folders. Also make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled! Discs are not spinning / showing up?: Make sure you have the right Games List View selected and Disc images in your Cart Image Priorities enabled (see the tips section of this download description). 3. Hello, I put a bunch of custom music into the Music/Background folder for Big Box to play but it seems to want to keep coming back to the same song. It will usually play the same song when Big Box is first started and maybe play another song after but will keep cycling back to the same song and then usually looping it. Any idea how I can get around this or what's causing it? I have over 100 songs in the folder. Thanks!

    Shuffling BigBox Background Music

Hey! So I have my BigBox set up as a front-end for my Multicade, with numerous arcade titles to play, going so far as to add arcade music to the "Launchbox/Music/Background" folder so that it will shuffle through various arcade musics while the game screen is up. It works excellently and I even added album art and info for each game so it displays the song name, game it's from and who the artist is, along with a nice image of the game box art when a new song plays. To make sure the album art is retained for every song, I have each game's music in a different folder within the Background folder. It displays everything fine, but the issue I'm having is it's not shuffling the music, no matter how I set it up. Here's a better description of the problem: When I launch Big Box, it does select a random song, but afterwards it will sequentially play every song from that game (folder), before moving to the next game alphabetically and playing all the music from it as well. If I force it to next song with the BigBox binding, it will indeed select a random song, but afterwards will go back to playing them alphabetically. I have shuffle turned on in settings, but no matter what it won't actually shuffle them if I leave it sitting. It's annoying, as I want it to ideally shuffle every track together, while also retaining album art and info (if I stick them all in a folder together it will mess up the album art). Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Close EPSXE in BigBox

I am losing my mind trying to get this to work. How do I close epsxe with controller input? Running lilypad because I needed to disable the exit confirmation message. Retroarch either doesnt work or runs extremely slow or out of sync so not an option. Epsxe is the only emulator that runs smoothly but the only way to close is escape key and I dont want to open up my cabinet everytime I want to close a game. Also tried antimicroportable which works but needs to always be running which doesnt work with the way bigbox is configured into my pc startup.

Hi there, this is the second theme that I made as an extension to the excellent Coverbox themes made by @faeran if you want more platform-specific themes, go check out his Coverbox main theme down below. I recommend using this with Coverbox. However, this theme is different compared to others that it's actually a theme that only plays when you are on the Wii U game selection screen. In order to make it work you have to do the following: (Before starting Big Box, go to Launchbox/Themes/Coverbox - Nintendo DS/Fonts and install the Nintendo-DS-BIOS.ttf font in order to properly display the theme) 1. Head over to Options in the Big Box Menu 2. Scroll down to Keyboard Shortcuts 3. Look through the list of options until you find "Switch Theme". 4. Choose a key for the shortcut and head over to your Nintendo DS Platform Game Selection Screen 5. Press the Key and choose the theme from the list that pops up. 6. Congratulations you now have a Nintendo DS Theme that launches no matter what another theme you're using. I hope that this theme will help you show off your Wii U collection even more and I will soon upload Wii U Video Snaps so stay tuned. My Nintendo Wii U Coverbox Theme: Link to Coverbox by @faeran
  8. Hey, I was wondering if anybody else has a problem with their background music not shuffling properly in Big Box even if the option is checked in the Big Box settings? Mine just go alphabetically down the folders in Launchbox/Music/Background and no matter what I can't seem to have them properly shuffle. 😩🙄

I would much prefer sharing them through the same method as James rather than freely available online for other software users to abuse without a Bigbox license (sorry guys). I have a handful of other cinematix I made (all 1st gen). So for now, here's what I'm currently working on: Original box:

Please subscribe to my Youtube Channel! My work blends a few influences relevant to the platform while showcasing the machine itself along with the games the platform ran: 1) Music made using sounds available on the platform (where possible) 2) The platform's boot screen (if possible) 3) Commercial influences usually in the form of the platform's marketing jingle. 4) The platform's packaging. In this way, the platform video itself gives an accurate interpretation of what the platform is, was marketed as, and what it looked and sounded like. In this video, the beginning displays a blue screen followed by a flicker/jitter common when starting a GX4000 game. An animated box art screen follows which slowly transitions into a 3D interpretation of the space pilot art followed by a Star Wars inspired jump into hyperspace to reveal game play footage.

  15. I've managed to get Big Box integrated into Windows Media Center 7 (WMC) so that you can launch it from the WMC main menu with the remote control. If Big Box closes then WMC becomes active again. and if WMC ends up in the foreground (for example, when you press the Windows button on the remote) then Big Box will be automatically closed. If anyone is interested in instructions on how to do this please let me know and I'll post them up somewhere.
  16. Apologize ahead of time for the slightly blurry video image. I just received my GPD Win 2 on June 15th and wanted to see how my Theme PASC 3.0 and games perform. Im very impressed with the device, it can run PS1, Gamecube, Wii and some Windows games pretty well.
  17. Hi guys, i have a premium LB account and have seen the option to be able to exit games inside big box but I don’t have a clue of how to set it up or if this affects on the current game controls. For instance, I’d like something like in RetroArch when you can configure going back to main menu via start+select buttons. Thanks in advance

  22. Wanted to share the progress (slow progress) so far. I have increased the number of elements the end user can customize (more on the way), plus I modified the object placement and size editor and included the color picker. This video just gives you a rough idea of how this thing will work, my main objective right now is to replicate my PASC 3.0 theme using 100% end user customization with no coding, once I achieve this then I will demonstrate how easy it will be to simply import new images, videos etc.. and build your own theme with no XAML coding.
  23. I am building a MAME cabinet using a Windows 10 PC and Big Box. I am using the Xarcade Dual Joystick as the input. My finished setup will not have an exposed keyboard. Emulators used are MAME, NEStopia, SNES9X and Fusion. I have everything figured out except for one pivotal thing. Closing emulators easily and consistently the with the Esc key when I have no keyboard (or additional controller) present. The Xarcade does not have a dedicated, mapped Esc key (it probably should, but I can’t do anything about that). SO in this case forums seem to push AHK as a solution. I played with AHK for a couple of hours with many script variations and wasn’t able to create a clean solution. Results were inconsistent between emulators. Bottom line, I’m never going to be a AHK superuser..and that’s okay. I don’t think I should have to be to get this to work. I’ve lost confidence in the idea that AHK is the correct route for me. And I feel like I’m missing something and I feel like Big Box is missing something. I’m confused as to why a simple feature is not implemented within Big Box options to bridge Big Box’s ability to universally close any of my emulators with the Esc key and the Xarcade control deck (which I assume is pretty widely used across the Big Box user base), such as a configurable key combination being held for a certain amount of time triggering the current emulator to close. Like I said, I’ve tried many AHK scripts from the forum and I haven't found a workable consistent solution. Does anyone have an elegant, simple solution for me that does not require me to reprogram my Xarcade buttons? That would be my last resort. Thank you for your help.
  24. Still making changes to PASC, adding more user customization elements. The focus this past weekend was to allow the user to choose where they wanted the scroll text to be positioned, such as .. Top of Screen/Bottom of Screen or Top of Video/Bottom of video, feel free to checkout the following YouTube link to see it in action
