Advanced Retro Console Version 3. This has a more difficult and time consuming setup process but might be worth it once completed. The goal behind this theme is to make an entire eco system that matches in style, effect and overall feel. On this page you will find everything you need to build exactly that including the Theme itself(multiple versions), startup and shutdown theme, pause theme, sound pack, BigBox startup video and more. I will continue to support this for as long as humanly possible and will continue to improve or add new features as they become available but I will not be making any more new versions. My goal here is just to simplify my work time and allow this one to become the best overall. I also want to add a thank you right now for all the hard work from @y2guru. Without his Community Theme Creator, none of this would exist. There are several more who deserve credit for helping and contributing to this project such as @faeran and of course Jason for building the whole thing. That being said lets get to all the new stuff! I added several new Platform views for the ones I play the most. They are NOT meant to be exact in anyway, just meant to replicate each console enough to feel nostagic. I made logo packs for every single platform I have which is over 80 right now. This version of the theme will only use these custom logos. It is made to be specific to this theme and to match in style. These are avilable on a seperate download page here: Click Here Added a new wall view. Simple but sweet and clean. I cleaned up all animations and simplified some to make it more helpful rather than intrusive (hopefully)! New Controller Matching button packs are available. Added a new Banner location and created custom banners for those views. Several have been made already and are available on a separate download page here: Click Here Finally made a new Dark version for each and every part including the startup and pause themes. Also, finally figured out how to get the Category and Playlist views to work properly. (you can find the custom logos for those views on this page including the collection logos) You will need the following files: Game Logo Packs: Click Here (or make your own) Banner Image Packs: Click Here (or make your own) Custom Platform Logo Packs: Found on this page (each file name matches the platform name) Step by Step Setup: Download the Theme itself. There are 2 versions, dark or light. Download the startup theme to match, dark or light. Download the pause theme to match, dark or light. Download controller button pack(s) if not using an Xbox controller. Download the sound pack if wanted. Download the startup video for BigBox also if wanted. Download all the console specific logo packs. The files are named after the platform or console itself. (ex: for PS1 download the ‘Sony Playstation.zip’) This theme has custom views made for some consoles, listed below, and these are the required logo packs for those to work. Download platform logos. (these are for the main platform view) Download platform category logos. (these are the main logos for categories such as genres, playmodes etc.) Download playlist logos. (these are for all playlists such as Arcade Action or Arcade All Games, etc.) Download collection playlist logos. (these are for all your custom collections such as 19xx or mario or 007, etc. Over 1700 logos in here.) Follow the links below and download a logo pack for each console and platform you have in your setup or download my Retro Console Logo Creator.zip and make your own set to match. Finally, follow all the steps below to make sure you put each file in the right place and most importantly, HAVE FUN. If you need help just ask and I will do my best! Instructions and File Locations: (all logo packs, etc: are placed within the theme folder, you must install this theme for any of them to work) NOTE: in the examples below I am using the 'Retro Console Light V3' theme as an example. If you are using the 'Retro Console Dark V3' then please replace that part as needed. Platform Logos(on this page) : Please place these inside this folder: ?:\LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Light V3\Images\Platforms\Custom Images 1\ Custom Platform View Logos(on this page) : ?:\LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Light V3\Images\Games\Custom Images 3\ Custom Banner Images(found here) : ?:\LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Light V3\Images\Games\Custom Images 2\ Game Clear Logos(found here) : ?:\LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Light V3\Images\Games\Custom Images 1\ Once each pack is installed you will be able to run this theme the same as it is in the video above. The custom Banner packs are not required, but the rest are. While using the new logo packs you may find that your game list is different or you just want to make some of your own. @faeran has made a video tutorial on how to use the new Custom Image Creator to make your own logos. It is very good. If you want to make your own logo packs for any of the views in my theme, watch his video and then download the file, 'Retro Console Logo Creator.zip'. found on this page. All the files you need to make each one exactly are included, even for the custom platform views and the banners. How to make your own custom logos for this theme: Click Here (watch first and then return here and follow the instructions below) Once you get an understanding and are setup to go you can follow these instructions to make matching logo sets from your own collections for this theme: So once you open the logo creator file (that you got from here) in the community theme creator, you need to select the platform that you want to make logos for from the left panel at the top (3rd drop down) and then you will notice a long string of dots toward the bottom of the screen from left to right and centered just above the box that offers 2 or 3 options such as 'Theme, Platform and Game'. Use the following for each sub type of logo you want to make: Platform Logos: Use the first dot for these and select 'Theme' from the box below. (Put these in the 'images/Platforms/Custom Images 1' folder within this theme) Game Logos: Make sure to select the correct platform from the menu(panel) on the left. Then use the second dot and choose 'Theme' from the box below the dots. (Put these in the 'images/Games/Custom Images 1' folder within this theme) Custom Platform View (game logos): Use the same instructions above but select the 6th dot and choose 'Platform from the box below the dots. (Put these in the 'images/Games/Custom Images 3' folder within this theme) Custom Banners: Use the same instructions above but select the 4th dot and choose'Platform from the box below the dots. (Put these in the 'images/Games/Custom Images 2' folder within this theme) Now you will be able to make logos for your exact set of games using all of the assets that are in the ones I made so they will match. You now just have to select the Hamburger Icon form the menu at the top of the screen and then hover over 'Render Custom Images', now select 'All Games for Selected Platform' from the menu that pops out. Once you have completed making your set you will need to go and get that whole folder of logos you just made and move them to the 'Retro Console' theme folder in the 'Custom Images 3' folder with the others. Remember, each platform logo set needs to be in a folder that exactly matches your Platform name as it appears in your LaunchBox setup. How to make your own custom Platform Category and Playlist logos for this theme: (the ones I made are boring but they work and fit with the theme very well) Same as above except for: Make sure to select either 'Platform Categories' or 'Playlists' from the second dropdown on the left panel at the top. And then select the first dot for each at the bottom center portion in the editor. Once selected, click the hamburger menu icon at the top left and select "render Custom Images' and then select the appropriate option. Here is a video clip of all the new custom platform views: Downloads on this page: Retro Console Dark or Light V3 = The main theme files need. Just choose dark or light or both. Retro Console Pause Dark or Light = Just what you think, this is the pause theme for each version. Retro Console Startup Dark or Light = This is the startup and shutdown theme for each version. All controller button packs = These are meant to replace the ones I use with whatever controller you use on your system. Almost every view has these somewhere. Obviously just download the ones you want . To install just unzip to the following location: ?/LaunchBox/Themes/Retro Console (Dark or Light)/media/buttons/. Make sure to overright them. Sound Pack = Just the sounds I use incase you want them. Startup Video = This is the startup video I made for this theme. Enjoy! Platform original boot videos = These are short video clips of the original startup sequence for every platform I could find. They are used in only one view but it is pretty cool and nostalgic. All Platform named logo packs are for the custom platform views only. The ones in the screenshots. To install you must unzip and upload to: \LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Light V3\Images\Games\Custom Images 3\ Super Nintendo Entertainment System.zip Sony Playstation.zip Sony Playstation 2.zip Sony Playstation 3.zip Sega Genesis.zip Nintendo 64.zip Nintendo 64DD.zip Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo Gamecube.zip Nintendo Wii.zip Nintendo Wii U.zip Nintendo Switch.zip (still to come) Microsoft Xbox.zip Microsoft Xbox 360.zip Microsoft Xbox One.zip (still to come) Pinball FX2.zip Pinball FX3.zip Sega Dreamcast.zip Turbografx-16 Platform logos = All platform logos for this theme. (Required) Thes go into the following: \LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Light V3\Images\Platforms\Custom Images 1\. If folder does not exist please make one and remember if using the dark version to change that part. Platform Category Logos = These are for the platform category views only. If you use this view then you will need these for sure. Playlist Logos = This is a large pack of playlists logos and includes custom playlists like collections, etc. Also needed if you intend to use the category views in BigBox.

3 Versions to choose from. "Simple Touch", "Simple Desktop", "Simple Touch Vertical". "Simple Touch" is a bit unique and different than any other BigBox themes. It was made specifically to be used with Touch Screen PC's. It's great for "All in One" PC's that have been set up as jukeboxes, fruit machines and media centers. "Simple Desktop" is the desktop version that is identical to Simple Touch without the "Touch Icons". When you look at the screenshots or watch the video, just pretend the "Touch Icons" aren't there. "Simple Touch Vertical" (vertical version) This one is more of a test version. It's made using 3:4 aspect ratio per request. I had to re-size some things and move a few things around a bit, but pretty much the same. I have nothing to test it with, so not sure how well it will look or work on a actual vertical screen. If you give this one a try, feedback would be awesome for myself and others. If you include some specs, like rig type, OS, etc., That would be helpful. (and some screenshots or video would be really cool as well). All 3 version are clean, with a modern look. Works well with all the screen sizes I have been able to test, including large screens and 4K TVs. Responsive and simple, thus "Simple Touch". Audio announces 200+ Platforms now. (can be disable by renaming or deleting the Audio folder within the theme folder) I needed this for a A-I-O Touch Screen PC I will be installing in a false wall soon. I'll be doing a home remodeling project soon and thought a touch screen jukebox in the wall would be a cool look. I found a great deal on a Lenovo 700 22ish touchscreen on ebay and have been setting it all up before I start the remodel. I wanted to create a BB theme with a similar look to the Jukebox (media center) software I put on the PC. Here is the dll file for adding the "Touch Badge" in Launchbox. Drop it into your ..\Launchbox\Plugins folder. (not required, just shows the Touch Badge in Launchbox) Badge Touch.dll As always, special thanks goes out to: @JoeViking245 for helping me with the touch issues @y2guru for sharing CTC with us, thank you @faeran for allowing me to use a bit of his code @Johnny T for all the MFME Fruitbox Machine help ALL THE USERS that use my stuff!!! The CoverBox project is one where my goal is to recreate retro console's boxart as a BigBox Theme. Each theme is designed for 1080p. P.S. I created graphic assets for the star ratings. Please feel free to use them in your theme. With the release of CoverBox 4.0, the theme has been completely ported over to the COMMUNITY Theme Creator. I now included the COMMUNITY Theme Creator files that you can use to load into the CTC to make any edits that you'd like. Please follow these instructions to do so: Make sure you already have a copy of the COMMUNITY Theme Creator, and you have it set up (link below) Download both the Theme files and COMMUNITY Theme Creator files Extract the COMMUNITY Theme Creator files into your COMMUNITY Theme Creator\My Theme Projects folder (don't forget to right click the archive, go into properties, and unblock the file) Open the Theme files zip, go into the Fonts folder and install all the fonts in there. Open the COMMUNITY Theme Creator, you should now find it in the dropdown list of themes Installation Instructions Download the CoverBox - Theme Files.zip file. 7. I grew up playing games in Arcades and I've been wanting to build my own arcade cabinet for over 20 years.... After discovering LaunchBox / BigBox, I finally decided to get started on my "dream project". Since the original Midway design for the Mortal Kombat II and Killer Instinct cabinets was my favorite, I decided that was where I'd start. I needed some Artwork, so here's the initial mock-up for the cabinet artwork I did in PhotoShop. (I've seen plenty of Killer Instinct reproduction cabinets, so I decided to go with the Xbox/Windows version) Here's the final version of the control panel that I mocked up in Photoshop.... I planned on getting clear button housings with black plungers so the outer rings could be illuminated based on which game was being played: I had the artwork printed at GameOnGrafix.com and installed it onto the cabinet control panel.... I ordered the joysticks and buttons from ParadiseArcadeShop.com, and when they arrived, I installed them: I installed the monitor, lower "marquee" monitor, and prepped the plexiglass for paint: While waiting on the marquee and side art, I got started on the Big Box theme. I wanted it to have a similar look as the Killer Instinct game.... Here's the Killer Instinct in-game options menu and the way the Options menu looks in my custom theme: Here are a couple of screen shots of the other theme menus (keep in mind, these are all works in progress and I've never done this before ) The PC that will be running Launchbox/BigBox: Here's the side art being installed: Here's where I completed the control pannel wiring and front artwork.... Installed the power strip, PC, Speakers, amplifier, subwoofer, etc. and cleaned up the wiring... Cut the back panel, then decided to add some additional ventilation to keep everything cool.... (The top fans blow out, bottom ones suck in) Here's a closer look at the top fans and the thermostat that monitors the cabinet internal temps and regulates fan speed. I'll post more pics and details as I finish the project..... It's VERY close.
  8. Preparing to upload my new theme Slipstream this weekend previously known as "Lucidity" or "The Keep". Done: Tried my best to bug hunt. Hopefully not too many slipped in to the first version.

This theme uses a dark rock wall background with blue-ish white shadows. This one works great on larger gaming rigs and folks that have their gaming media stored on a NAS. The video below was made on my main rig with 22,000+ games and all the media and roms being stored on NAS using mapped drives, Launchbox was installed on mechanical HDD. The video does much better showing the theme than the screenshots. (the bouncing and the slides) I used my custom icons for genres, play modes, number of players, custom controllers, etc.. I designed this one mainly for Large Screens and TVs (16:9), but this time I created it in Stretch Mode in CTC. This is the first theme I have tried using the Stretch mode, so if you run into strange looking issues let me know, preferably with screenshots, I am not sure how to properly test the other screen ratios yet, but from I was able to do, the theme was looking decent on the different views in CTC. This time I put a more focus on the Arcade (MAME) platform, using game specific Arcade Cabinets and the Arcade Controls (looks will depend on your artwork) as well as play modes specific to the Arcade platform. (the ones like 2-Player Alternating or 2-Player Simultaneous) if you use them. My custom Genre Icons have grown to over 300+ now (includes the PS template to make more if you need them) and I have over 100 controller images in this theme. The Platform audio I used was a male voice. I increased the volume a bit and added some reverb. Video: (wall views in video are showing original version, version 2 is different-see changelog below) Installation: Download, unzip, copy the folder "Dark Bounce" into your Launchbox "Themes" folder. The Windows Media Player in Bigbox will work best with this theme You can also set the theme up to show if the game can be played in Virtual Reality, Online, PvP, etc. if you want. Artwork is included and already in place. Instructions for setting up the 4-5 custom fields can be found on my "Game On" theme page. (https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/3256-game-on/). It's pretty simple. Thanks goes out to @y2guru, @faeran for there awesome contributions to CTC/LB/BB work and videos. Also @viking for his great stuff as well as @RetroNi. Some of the logos and videos used from their contributions. And of course anyone else I may have un-intendedly forgot to mention. Leave comments and suggestions and I'll see what I can do. Spring is here, so gonna be slowing down with this stuff. If I can keep away from it -Enjoy & thanks for trying the theme!

  16. LV-101 View File LV-101 is dark, futuristic and responsive theme. Theme uses custom device and playlist images (download the psd templates from here). 108 devices are included in this package. Should work well with 16:10, 16:9, 4:3 and 5:4 ratios. Theme was designed to use box art, gameplay screenshot and gameplay video. If you want to make changes you can download the Community Creator Tool Files. For view transitions I recommend the vertical animation, it just feels right with this theme. Requires a powerful system to run smoothly. Tried it with i5-4570t and performance was horrible. AllNightLong works better on older systems. Theme contains: Platform Wheel 1 Platform Wheel 2 Text Filters View Text Games View Horizontal Wheel 1 Games View Horizontal Wheel 2 Games View So not a lot, but I didn't want to make this theme as huge as my previous theme. This is Christmas holiday theme. It's more of a novelty theme I suppose, since it won't be used all the time. I haven't seen one and my grandson asked me to make one for him. It starts up as to be looking out a window on a cold, windy and snowy day when Santa appears and has a bad day with the weather and his reindeer. It contains a little bit of video vintage footage of the "Lost Toys" from Rudolph and Frosty as well in some of the TVs used in the different views Video: If you want a little holiday spirit in your gaming setup at this time of year, check it out. Since it is seasonal, I only did a couple different views. If there is enough interest, I may add more views to it. Thanks to @y2guru for making it so easy and sharing CTC. If you haven't tried it, you should, I through this together yesterday. (can't wait for 2.3) Seasons Greetings! -Enjoy The Papaw

  19. Retro Console - BB Theme and more. Custom Logo Version View File Advanced Retro Console Version 3. Due to weird uploading issues again, the files are being renamed adding a bunch of numbers before the actual names of the zip files. The Fading Elegance v1+ is the last download (2102651409_FadingElegancev1.zip). The folder structure is still correct once unzipped. Clean, modern look. Designed especially for using on Large 4K Screens and TVs. All 21 views, including new marquees. If you like to grab a controller or two, hit the couch and jump in front of a 4K Big Screen TV, this may be the theme for you. That's what I created it for! Information Rich using very visible color graphic image icons for genres, play modes, max players/controllers (actual controllers are shown for the ones I could find). Lots of items fading in/out throughout the theme. The "Game Details" view has tons of info mostly in the graphic format, it's the 3rd screenshot. The 1st screenshot transitions into the 2nd screenshot. It can also show if the game can be played in Virtual Reality, Online, PvP, and more with some very simple setup. (Instructions Below) It heavily relies on video snaps for it's focal point. In most of the views, the videos will expand and retract when there is no navigation being done in Bigbox. Includes over 190 audio Platform .mp3 files and 250 Genre Icons (plus the Photoshop template to easily make more). If you don't like the Platform audio voices, just delete them in the Audio folder within the theme. Includes ALL 21 views (including the new marquee views). Some cool animations as well. The 2nd file called "Fading Elegance (Missing Video Snap)" was my original design see comments below Added a NEW version called Fading Elegance v1+ . It has fanart fade into the background and randomly changes every 5 seconds on the Platform Views and has the game's fanart that shows in the Games Views. See the last screenshot. Thanks to @MangaAddict for the suggestion. While I was at it, I figured I wanted some new sounds to go with the new theme, you can check them out if you're interested. I called them "The Mix" Matching "Fading Elegance" Startup-Exit Theme - (with animation) Matching "Fading Elegance" Pause Screen - (with animation) Download Platform Voice (Salli was used in the video) Fading Elegance v1+ - This is a better video that included the Start/Exit & Pause themes in actions as well. Fading Elegance v1 (Be patient with first minute or so, it's showing an example of how some of the videos expand/retract) Video for the Marquee views: I don't know how to over lap them. Instructions to use Split Screen, Virtual Reality, PvP and Onlne Play Icon features: To get the Split Screen, VR, PvP and Onlne Play icons to work in the theme is really pretty easy. Create the 4 Custom Fields below in Launchbox, just edit any single game in your collection and pick Custom Fields on the left panel. Copy-n-paste one of the 4 custom fields below and press <ENTER>. Then enter Yes in the value section press <ENTER>. Copy-n-paste the other 3 Custom Fields and do the same. Then press OK Now the fields should be ready and Yes is now a choice in Bulk Edit. Close Launchbox and re-open just to be safe. Then you can go back to the game you used to set up the custom fields and delete the Yes's if you need to. What I did, was to sort my collection different ways like genre or playmode. I had a genre set up for MMO, so I bulk edited all the games in that category, first I chose Play Mode, making sure they all had multiplayer added as a value. Then I said yes to make more changes, and then chose the newly created Custom Field: Online Play and just select Yes in the dropdown to add value. The theme will now display the animated globe for all those games in the views that use it. Do that for the other 3 Custom fields using similiar sorts. Of course any game can be edited manually as well. The custom fields you need to add: Virtual Reality Split Screen PvP Online I had never used CTC until about 2 weeks ago (amazing program, huge thanks to y2guru for sharing it and helping me with it). I'm still learning it and am still tweaking and tinkering with animations as far as timing and controls of them and to get them to work like I want. I wasn't quite sure how most Bigbox folks use the Marquee views, so I just winged it. Like maybe a pinball machine marquee? Ya'll can let me know if I got it all wrong. That is what the 2nd video is, just the marquee capture. In the orignal design, I had added a video that displays when there is no video snap for a game, but I could only find one way to actually make it work decently. I am glad I found a way to get it to work, but absolutely hate the way I had to do it. It slows the theme down a bit. Maybe there will be someone out there that knows a better way to implement it or maybe future enhancements to Launchbox or CTC will make it easier to accomplish. About 1/2 the time you might see a glimps of the Missing Video video during navigation. It's because it is running in the background behind the game video snap and sometimes it would show just before the game's video snap is shown. If you interested in trying it out, It is the one called "Fading Elegance (Missing Video Snap)". My sincere thanks goes out to @y2guru for sharing CTC, @viking for sharing his videos with us, the "Theme Guru" (@faeran) and @Jason Carr for getting the upload issues fixed for me! There are many more that do so much for all of us. Thank you If you like my stuff and use Kodi or a fork of it, take a peak at the skins I have done for it (mostly for kids) and maybe subscribe and say hey while you're there. Fading Elegance v1 & v1+ - Designed with 4K LARGE Screens and TVs in Mind View File Due to weird uploading issues again, the files are being renamed adding a bunch of numbers before the actual names of the zip files. 25. I've cycled through most of the present day Bigbox themes and liked the "Unified Refried" theme best of all. So much that I created a video and upped it to YouTube. I need to re-index all of my rom sets when I have more time but have just about every major console/computer covered. Thought I'd share for those looking to try this theme out. Cheers!
