  1. Hello, I put a bunch of custom music into the Music/Background folder for Big Box to play but it seems to want to keep coming back to the same song. It will usually play the same song when Big Box is first started and maybe play another song after but will keep cycling back to the same song and then usually looping it. Any idea how I can get around this or what's causing it? I have over 100 songs in the folder. Thanks!
  2. Hey! So I have my BigBox set up as a front-end for my Multicade, with numerous arcade titles to play, going so far as to add arcade music to the "Launchbox/Music/Background" folder so that it will shuffle through various arcade musics while the game screen is up. It works excellently and I even added album art and info for each game so it displays the song name, game it's from and who the artist is, along with a nice image of the game box art when a new song plays. To make sure the album art is retained for every song, I have each game's music in a different folder within the Background folder. It displays everything fine, but the issue I'm having is it's not shuffling the music, no matter how I set it up. Here's a better description of the problem: When I launch Big Box, it does select a random song, but afterwards it will sequentially play every song from that game (folder), before moving to the next game alphabetically and playing all the music from it as well. If I force it to next song with the BigBox binding, it will indeed select a random song, but afterwards will go back to playing them alphabetically. I have shuffle turned on in settings, but no matter what it won't actually shuffle them if I leave it sitting. It's annoying, as I want it to ideally shuffle every track together, while also retaining album art and info (if I stick them all in a folder together it will mess up the album art). Does anybody have any suggestions?

I put this out there for my fellow Cowboy Bebop fans to have something cool, and to let people out there know, that Bigbox can handle more than just games. That being said it doesn't scrape movies or TV shows vary well. You need to basically find the images yourself and insert them manually, if you were trying to put your movies in Bigbox. Of course, I have gone though the trouble of doing that work for all of us on this one. What I have done here is create a console theme if you will, for setting up your Cowboy Bebop Anime as a device in LaunchBox/BigBox, that has all the images for every single Cowboy Bebop episode/sessions, and that will appear as its own identity along side the rest of your consoles. The collection includes: The Cowboy Bebop Movie, all episode/session titles, fan art for the backgrounds, Art/images for the "Device" selection screen, and the clear logo for the title at the device selection screen (Bigbox will think that "Cowboy Bebop" is a video game system like the rest of your stuff) Lastly I included the Cowboy Bebop Theme song. Just in case you would like it to play in the background when you are choosing what episode/session to watch. It adds a really nice element to the whole setup. This updated version 1.0.2 is as easy as it gets to set up. It contains everything you need neatly packed, and comes with clear and concise instructions on a note pad file in the download. To get the theme song to play in the background place the song in launchbox/music/background/platforms/Cowboy Bebop You can also get the Cowboy Bebop theme song as your main background theme song by copying it to launchbox/music/background/platforms NOTE: place the song below the platforms folder, not inside of it. I provided a screenshot above if your confused. Obviously I can not give you the actual episodes/sessions as they were called, but if your reading this you probably already have them. If you don't, whats wrong with you? Do what LaunchBox/BigBox fans do best, and get yourself a good download/torrent, and dust off this award winning classic! Hope you all enjoy this setup, and I hope more people end up putting stuff like this out there for everyone to get even more out of BigBox. NOTE: If your not a fan of cluttering your game collection things that are not games, then I would just like to remind everyone you can have multiple LaunchBox/BigBox setups, and that they are portable. You could have one for games and another just for your media. While I am on the topic, if you get an Nvida Shield you can stream your LaunBox/BigBox setup to any TV in your house. Obviously this is great for gaming, but also makes the BigBox media setup much more viable too. An excellent tutorial video on this was made by ETA Prime on youtube. I'll leave a link and youtube search instructions, if your interested. You can search youtube for "stream launchbox to nvidia shield" and it will be the first video, or use the link below. Big thanks to everyone who gave this setup a try. I hope you all enjoy! Stay classy retro fans

  5. Hey, I was wondering if anybody else has a problem with their background music not shuffling properly in Big Box even if the option is checked in the Big Box settings? Mine just go alphabetically down the folders in Launchbox/Music/Background and no matter what I can't seem to have them properly shuffle. 😩🙄
  6. Launchbox is great for running Dos games with CD audio. With a bit of tinkering with creating a proper config file and automatically mounting an bin file through the launch settings menu, it works surprisingly well if you do it correctly. Strangely enough, I've had better luck playing CD music with a bin file automatically mounted through Launchbox, than doing it manually or using other DOS frontend software. The problem is that while there is a way to automatically mount bin or cue files with DOS games with CD audio included, the same option is sadly not available for Windows based games. I know classic WIndows games are much harder to run on modern computers, but some do in fact work with a bit of fiddling around. The classic 3D Ultra games and the old Racing Madness titles are a good example of games that can run on modern PCs, but tend to use CD audio for high quality music, or music in general. My issue is that I've pretty much never been able to get CD audio to work with bin or cue files in Windows games for reasons I don't know. I own the original CDs in my collection, but converting them to bin and cue files, and then mounting them to install on my machine, the CD music never plays and I'm stuck with the generic compressed music or none in the case of 3D Ultra RC Racers. I guess I could just put in the CD, but I just like the convenience of playing a game by simply booting it up without hassle. And yes, I have tried to convert bin and cue to iso using PowerISO (That's the software I use for making disk image files.), but I never managed to work out how to do it properly, as it always results in an error. And even if it works, it still doesn't resolve the music problem. I've even tried making image files in other iso based software with the same results, and even searching for answers on google has given me no help whatsoever, as it seems like I'm the only person with this problem and I don't even know what it is I'm doing wrong. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I would really appreciate the option to automatically mount image files for Windows games in Launchbox, as it has worked for me with DOS games and I would hope to see it work for Windows games too.
  7. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to report such a problem, but this appears to be the only forum section labeled for posting "issues". While this is admittedly a very minor issue, I figured it was worth reporting. The "Super Mario World" [SNES] theme music that plays when highlighting that game is incorrect. I don't know what game's theme music it is playing, but it definitely isn't Super Mario World. I manually played the mp3 at "LaunchBox\Music\Super Nintendo Entertainment System\Super Mario World.mp3" and it is indeed the wrong music (so it is not an issue of LaunchBox simply playing the wrong mp3). I'm not sure what database this music is downloaded from, so it is entirely possible LaunchBox has no control over fixing this problem. Being that I do not know who to contact to sort such a thing out, I figured I would post it here so that someone who is more knowledgeable could pass the message along to whoever is responsible for such things. I was able to find the correct MP3 to replace the incorrect one with, but I assume there might be legality issues with attaching said file to this forum post. Instead, I will provide instructions for locating the MP3 from an outside source for anyone who is interested. The way I obtained the file was finding the Super Mario World title song on YouTube at the following URL: I then used the following webpage to convert that YouTube url into a downloadable MP3: https://www.onlinevideoconverter.com/mp3-converter Thanks for all the hard work on LaunchBox!
  8. I've made several posts about this in the past but haven't had any luck finding any help. Among many other problems I've noticed that background Music in BigBox always seems to reset back to the first track in the queue whenever a game is played. Oddly the time it takes to do this seems to have something to do with how long it had been playing before a game was selected, but without fail it will always reset back regardless of how far in the queue it is. This is a major problem for me, as I have over 1000 music tracks in my background music and hearing the same ones repeatedly is really ruining the experience, especially considering the amount of work I have put into meticulously curating this list and managing the metadata. Of course this isn't the only problem with background music playback, but this is the main one that I cannot find any way to work around.
  9. While I think the video's in Big Box look cool, a lot of the audio is grating. I muted them but that leads to the whole experience feeling a little flat. I was hoping to have some separate relevant theme music for each platform but it looks like per platform music isn't an option. So I need some recommendation on some general Big Box background music. I'm like it to sound gamey and not too bombastic, kind of mellow that wouldn't feel out of place for any of the platforms. Also is there a way to stop Big Box popping up what background music is playing when it starts to play?
  10. Been using Launch Box for awhile now, but only just got the full version on the Black Friday sale. I'm LOVING all of the features that I wasn't full aware of, but that does meaning learning to get the most out of it. So I downloaded a Mike Tyson's Punch Out video from Emu Movies, but it's 50 megs. Downloaded the SMB 2 music, but that was 8 megs. As much as I love the quality, that could add up very quickly. This leads me to a few questions: 1. Is there a way to add a video for a specific console that will play any time a game for that console is selected in Big Box mode? I.E. if I choose Contra for the NES, it will play a generic NES video. 2. I used the tool "download platform/playlist theme video" for all my systems, thinking that it would do what I was looking for in the first question. What does this actually do? 3. What image types would you recommend downloading for Big Box mode in order to avoid downloading images that it won't use/need, but that covers its basics (like backgrounds, for instance)? 4. I really enjoyed having the SMB 2 music playing when I select it, but again, I don't want to have an 8 meg file for each specific game. With thousands of games, that also fills up fast. Is there a way to have a playlist of music for each system that will randomly play instead of only for specific games? Obviously, this could overlap with videos playing, so I'd probably just choose one or the other, but I want to my options. Edit: 5. Also, what is "attract mode"? I have it enabled, set it to 10 seconds, but it never kicks in. When is it supposed to work? Anyways, I love all the work the community puts into making Launch Box filled with customization, so consider that a preemptive "thanks"!
  11. This isn't so much a feature per-say but I was wondering if there is some way I could edit Big Box to have the song details remain on the screen for longer when playing background music? I know it's not in any plugins thus-far and it would be relatively unimportant for the majority of users, but I have an impressive music collection of arcade songs on my unit with a lot of information displayed when switching songs so I figure I can see if it is some simple value that can be edited in a config file somewhere or something along those lines. Please let me know if this isn't the place for such a discussion and I can gladly move to the appropriate location!
  12. Zombies Ate My Neighbors Genesis Full Soundtrack View File This is a whole soundtrack for use with Launch Box/Big Box. I do not own these songs and do not claim to. All I did was capture and convert them and do some minor cleanup with audacity. These tracks were recorded in 44Khz and have a pseudo stereo separation based on the channel used. They have a small low pass and a very slight high pass filter applied to take the edge off of the NESs ringing tones for easier listening. These were encoded using the Lame MP3 encoder in a variable bit rate of 170-210 Kbps. To install... Just extract the whole archive directly into your LaunchBox\Music\Sega Genesis directory. Have fun! NOTE: If you already have the EmuMovies music for this game you MAY have to delete it for LB/BB to see this correctly. Submitter cammelspit Submitted 12/10/16 Category Game Media
  13. Hi Not sure if this's the right place to post this doubt but here it goes. Is there any way to prevent music from stopping playing on Launchbox? As it is , music stops when application looses focus, or when I start displaying screenshots or opening options menu etc. Personally I like to keep listening to the music of the games I like when doing other stuff (use it as a music player) or keep listening to the soundtrack as I watch the screenshots for the game in full screen for example.
  14. Hi all not sure if anyone can help Recently I have noticed that when I highlight a game in bigbox which has both audio from a video and a mp3 music file, they both play at the same time, where as before the music file would mute the audio from the video. (hope that makes sense..) Can anyone help at all Thanks

  16. I would like a music feature when you select a system, say Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 2, you can add music like the Wii theme while you are looking for a game or when you select the PS2 system, the PS2 idle theme plays.
  17. I'd like to disable the fanart showing up behind the list of games and the music playing whenever I click on one game. I find it a bit disturbing and I'd rather have only the details bar in the right. I searched in launchbox options but couldn't find it, is this possible at all? Thanks!
  18. Hello! I'm fairly new to Launchbox and I am loving my experience with LB/BB so far. This community seems like a truly great group of people. My question is: Is there a way to have background music playing when browsing games within a certain platform? The Cinematic videos are fantastic, but when I select a platform there is silence. I know I can have music specific to each game, but it would take up a lot of storage space to have a song allocated to each game. It would be nice to have it randomly play through a couple songs when browsing games to minimize storage needed. Is there a way to do this?
  19. Recently I discovered Bridge M1, a nifty little media player that scrapes the music from your MAME roms. I have been wanting to expand my background music selection on BigBox, and was wondering if there is any way to change the audio media player to M1, so that I can have the music from my ROMs playing in the background.
  20. Hi There, Launchbox newbie here (but veteran IT). First of all this is my new favorite frontend for pretty much everything that has to do with launching something (you dont say !). Small issue: I have multiple platform and theme music from my games were downloaded autotmatically from different sources (including Emumovies). Issue is for N64 platforme, 0 music, none. Question1: Where are theme song (from selection screen when you hover a game and the theme start playing) downloaded from ? Is it EmuMovies ? Question2: Is it just a normal issue and there is no actual providers for N64 games ? Thank you very much for your time. Jello
  21. I have some small questions and i do not think I should create a thread for each so I want to post here. You can also point to any helpful videos Videos: How do I add background videos to the frontend? I would like to edit the background video for critical zone.. I mean when there is no video I would like to add by own Any video editor I can use to create themes and collages, free or paid! How do I add BigBox videos.. I'm using default Where are the platform videos stored? I could not seen platform videos on theme folder I had to create a separate folder for my "Favorite" games videos Controller: How do I set to exit every emulator with the same button? Is this even possible if not maybe this can be a future feature. Thanks
  22. I see on the lower right of LB there are buttons to play music and text which states something like "no music selected." Is it possible to add music to LB so that it starts when LB is opened? If so, any direction on how to set that up would be greatly appreciated. I see it each time I open LB, but I don't recall seeing anything about it in tutorials. I appreciate any help.
  23. I Selected play music in BB but i cant turn off the sound from the game videos in BB so it sounds like a bunch of gargled mess...I just wanted to play the music while im browsing through the platforms. then when the game starts, the audio from the emulator would fade out until i returned to BB. how do i do that?
  24. I'm running into issues where when I stop either LB or BB it is coming to a point where it crashes because it is trying to create a path to E:\Emulators\LaunchBox\Music\Platform (I put the generic platform because I've seen the issue now with two different platforms in the error message the issue is this tablet only has two drives C and D so of course the program trying to install anything to an E drive will cause an issue I perfectly understand that. I've used NotePad++ and opened every XML in LB folder and can't find anything looking for any type of E; path so this error is so weird.
