About Me

  1. Hello to all, LaunchBox does not update the playlist views after startup. Only the first two or three rows are displayed. To make the view look complete, I always have to scroll up and down with the mouse. I can reproduce this behavior also on a freshly installed LaunchBox setup. But this only happens, when any side bar is enabled - like left "LaunchBox Side Bar" or the "Game Details" on the right side ... When both side bars are disabled, then LaunchBox shows all game entries correctly ... Please have also a look to the attached screenshots - maybe it makes for you easier to understand. Is this a known issue? BTW: i use "Steam Banners" view

  4. I am trying to create as close as i can to a seamless transition from startup into big box, but when i put the exe file into shell:startup like the LB video says it did nothing on start up. can someone help point me in the right direction?
  5. In this post I am specifically referring to the PCSX2 emulator, but I noticed it does this with other emulators as well. In LaunchBox, when I go to Tools/Gameplay/Game Startup and select "Use Game Startup Screen", I lose the ability to see my mouse cursor when I minimize out of PCSX2. (I play PCSX2 games in fullscreen.) I have selected and deselected the "Hide Mouse Cursor on Startup Screens" and it only pertains to the actual moment the Startup screen is occurring. (With "Use Game Startup Screen" not selected) I can press escape, the game will pause, and my mouse cursor is visible while I navigate my desktop or other opened windows. To return to game, I focus the PCSX2 interface and select system/resume. Or, I can alt + tab out and the game will continue playing in the background while I navigate my desktop or other opened windows. To return to game, I select the window the game is playing in. (With "Use Game Startup Screen" selected) I press escape, the game pauses and I see my PCSX2 interface against a blank(black) desktop. I cannot see my cursor, but I can activate links if I blindly navigate to them using my mouse. If I use alt + tab, the game continues playing while I select another window with the alt + tab function, but my mouse cursor is invisible. I notice there is a window opened called "Launchbox Game Startup". If I select this window using the alt + tab function I see the Game Over Screen, and the screen will disappear shortly after being revealed. Then my mouse becomes visible and I can navigate and resume normally. Is there a mouse cursor option in the LaunchBox settings that I am missing? This is my first time using the LaunchBox Community Forum. Forgive me if I didn't post this in the right place or if I went about this wrong.

  9. Hello Everyone, I just got my arcade up and running and everything has been running great. I updated to 11.6 the other day and have opened BigBox quite a few times since then and everything was still good up until today. Now, every time that I try to open BigBox, it throws this error. When I press close and try to reopen BigBox, it says that the program is still running so I kill it in task manager and the same problem happens. I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions on how to fix or troubleshoot? Is this a known issue? 10. Hi Everybody, I have made good progress in my Launchbox configuration, and now everything is working perfectly. (I still thank Retro808 very much for their precious help with the configuration of UCR). Today I have two points to fix. I would : Perfectly hide the teknoparrot launcher. Hide the UCR window that appears a few seconds before launching a PC game. I'm putting you a video so you can see what's working well and what's bothering me. https://youtu.be/oYK7-gf5Gc4 For everything else, arcade and console games, it's perfect ! Thank you, see you later. PS: my spoken English makes me laugh ^^
  11. Hey, I've been using this program for a while, and LOVE the heck out of it. I have had a sort of odd experience, though. The drive I had my setup on was getting corrupted, I moved the setup to a different drive, and now the program just refuses to start. Any ideas will be useful. More info provided as needed. Almost forgot: I created a blank install of the program in the same directory I placed the one that's crashing, and that one works fine. EDIT: I figured out the issue, the executable files were damaged. I overwrote them with good files, and everything works. Now to get on to trying to get it to be the way I want (I had edited it a lot, and lost the place where it felt 'right').
  12. [Edit: SOLVED (sort of) - see my reply below. Warning: Registry editing involved, high risk variable] This is a question for folks that have experience setting up BigBox as their startup shell, either through regedit, group policy, or other third-party methods. After I set BigBox to my shell variable in regedit, I was pleased to see that it booted directly in, but I quickly discovered that I had lost keyboard control of my volume, and that JoytoKey (in my startup folder) was not working for the one game I have it configured for (Pokemon Uranium). I dug around in the forums and only found one link that even partially referenced my startup program issue near the end of the thread, but there didn't seem to be an answer (or at least a clear enough one for me to follow). My guess is that since explorer.exe isn't running as the default shell, it doesn't run certain services related to it, like volume control via keyboard, startup folder items, etc. Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it? Is there some way I can enable services that are native to the default shell to run with BigBox? Thanks in advance for any help or advice regarding this issue!
  13. Hello! I've been using LaunchBox for about 2 years now, ever since I finished my MAME cabinet. I never had an issue until the 9.x update. I am currently on the latest version. I am running MAME 0.203. Ever since updating, I always have an issue launching my first game. For example, I'll click on Street Fighter 2 in Big Box mode. 9 times out of 10 it will start correctly flashing the buttons and speak its commands (LEDBlinky) and everything will go well. But then the game will never start. I will either get a black screen, or it will get stuck at the first screen where MAME tells you the info like screen res and such. I always have to force close Big Box and then start it up again, and then everything works fine. Obviously this is a pretty big issue because my young children want to play it sometimes when I am not home and it's not easy explaining to them or my wife how to force close a program and then open it again, especially with arcade controls. Does anybody know what changed from 8.x to 9.x that is causing this? I doubt it's my computer as it's an i7 @ 4.0ghz with 12GB of RAM and an SSD. And this issue did not exist with 8.X for me. I disabled "show loading screen" but that didn't seem to fix it. I even have issues sometimes when I exit games, where I exit and it takes forever and I have to force exit (kill Big Box then open it again), though this exiting issue is a lot less common than the startup one. I am running Windows 10 Pro. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

  15. Hi, I've been playing with Launchbox for a while and everything seems to work well for the most part, but I was wondering if there was a way or a specific command line option I should choose to see the Gamecube BIOS/startup and the PS2 BIOS/startup in Dolphin and PCSX2 respectively. They both start fine if I run the emulators by themselves but when launching through Launchbox it always skips the bios and goes directly to the game. I know this is a pretty trivial thing but I was wondering if there was a workaround to this or something I'm missing (Demul boots with BIOS fine through Launchbox). I'm aware that with ePSXe there's a command you can add to force it to launch the bios before starting the game.

  17. I created a shortcut for steam to add a few commands. I have it set to start in offline mode and not verify any files by typing "F:\Steam\Steam.exe -noverifyfiles-offline" as the target in the shortcut. It loads super fast. Is there a way to get launchbox to run this shortcut instead of the normal .exe when I launch a steam game?
