  1. New year, new theme. I’m working on making art that unifies my favorite emulator, Retroarch, with my favorite front end Launch Box. I hoping to make art for about 40 systems. I'm liking the idea of retro commercials for the videos on the platform page. Anyone know how to source slightly better quality or have good links to video game commercial archives? 3. LV-101 View File LV-101 is dark, futuristic and responsive theme. Theme uses custom device and playlist images (download the psd templates from here). 108 devices are included in this package. Should work well with 16:10, 16:9, 4:3 and 5:4 ratios. Theme was designed to use box art, gameplay screenshot and gameplay video. If you want to make changes you can download the Community Creator Tool Files. For view transitions I recommend the vertical animation, it just feels right with this theme. Requires a powerful system to run smoothly. Tried it with i5-4570t and performance was horrible. AllNightLong works better on older systems. Theme contains: Platform Wheel 1 Platform Wheel 2 Text Filters View Text Games View Horizontal Wheel 1 Games View Horizontal Wheel 2 Games View So not a lot, but I didn't want to make this theme as huge as my previous theme. Less is more, or so they say. Credits: @y2guru for the COMMUNITY Theme Creator for BigBox @viking for the amazing platform videos. Ok, here is version 2 of my Retro Console Theme. This is a MASSIVE overhaul and Includes ANIMATIONS. Thanks to @y2guru and his unending support and development of the 'Community Theme Creator', which now offers an animation tool, I was able to completely rebuild this theme and make it the way I originally intended. Thank You as always my man! * Language issues have been fixed. Should work now! 5-1-2020 The original theme without animations can be found here: Retro Console Version 1 Pretty much every single view has been redone with at least more flare and details, but some of them are totally re-imagined. I have also added several new views and many more platform specific views. All with animations, subtle but informative (hopefully). One of the game views that has a smaller monitor window on the right side of the screen now plays a video in a loop of the matching consoles original startup or boot screen. Not all are included as I have not been able to find them on YouTube. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on where to look for more, would be very helpful! NEW: Playmode Icons - All custom and added all over the theme. NEW: I made a new view that is intended for use with newer consoles like PS3 and XBOX360. Looks good but does not require as much artwork since there is not much available yet. NEW: New version available, "Retro Console Theme Anim V2-center videos.zip". This version is designed to let users select a platform video set other than the Nostalgia set that I have been using. It is much better for center aligned videos. ALSO NEW are several controller button packs that can be swapped out to match your setup. These include 4 buttons each and are color coded throughout the theme: GREEN = Select RED = Back Blue = Search Yellow = Game info screen To use these you should just download the pack you want and drop it in the following folder: ?\LaunchBox\Themes\Retro Console Theme Anim V2\Media\buttons\. Make sure to overwrite the existing ones. controller buttons - arcade.zip: This is a set of generic arcade buttons that can be used for any setup. Just colored and round. controller buttons - numbered.zip: This is a set of numbered controller buttons (1 - 4) for controllers that have numbered buttons. controller buttons - ps3.zip: This is a set of PlayStation controller buttons controller buttons - xbox.zip: This is a set of Microsoft XBOX controller buttons I will gladly take any requests for additional controller buttons as long as they don't require changing the theme. (max of 4 buttons in a pack) ALSO: @Wanderer189 has made a huge contribution to this theme in the form of several downloadable add-on packs full of clear logos for each platform. These include literally thousands of logos made for each Genre, Playmode, ETC. This is an amazing thing and I thank you for your hard work Wanderer. You are awesome. If you would like to get these logos for your setup they can be found here: What is this theme: This is a video snap based BigBox theme. Heavily designed around the use and display of video snaps. This theme has over a hundred views including one that offers a different look for each platform including handhelds. There is a large amount of custom graphics and logos and images and icons etc. Hence the large file size. Use the startup and pause themes to complete the seamless setup. (also included here) All icons including stars for 'consumer ratings' and 'ESRB rating' and the new 'playmode icons' are custom and included in the theme file. Use them all you want. I am using the nostalgia platform videos and these are perfect for this theme. I may make my own someday but for now these are Great. @Wanderer189 is currently making videos for every genre and playmode. (you are awesome buddy, thank you so much for all your hard work and contributions to this and other themes) Available Downloads: Retro Console Theme Anim V2.zip - This is the entire theme including platform and platform device logos as well as all icons so you don't have to download them individually. This does not include the startup video, startup or pause themes, collection logos, etc. Retro Console Theme Anim V2-center videos.zip - This an alternate version of the theme. This version is designed to let users select a platform video set other than the Nostalgia set that I have been using. It is much better for center aligned platform videos. controller buttons - arcade.zip - Arcade panel based controller buttons controller buttons - numbered.zip - Number based controller buttons controller buttons - ps3.zip - PlayStation based controller buttons controller buttons - xbox.zip - XBOX based controller buttons Retro-Console-Pause.zip - The pause theme I made also to match this theme. (screens below) Retro-Console-Startup.zip - The startup and shutdown theme I made to match with this theme. (screens below) Platform Clear Logos.zip - Included in the theme download but also here in case you just want them alone. These were made specifically for this theme. Platform Device Logos.zip - Also made for this theme for the platform view that uses device images. Collection Device Logos.zip - Made to match this theme for the platform view that uses device images for each collection I use. I can make more upon request. Collection Logos.zip - Same as the platform logos. Made to match so they can be used in this theme. Platform Categories.zip - A bunch of category logos also made to match this theme. Startup Video.zip - A startup video I made just to add to the overall completeness of the theme. Not at all necessary but here if you want it. Retro Console Sound Pack.zip - Again not required but here if you want it. This is what i use in the video below. Just unzip it to your launchbox sounds folder and then select it in BigBox. Platform Original Boot Videos.zip - This is a pack of just the new startuo videos for each console or platform I could find. (included in theme so no need to download unless you want just these) Recommendations: Set your Image priorities in Launchbox as follows - Cart Front ( add disc images to the list - this is used in many views in this theme) Set your startup and shutdown time limits in launchbox settings. (mine are: startup=5 sec and shutdown=3.5 sec) I designed this around the Nostalgia Platform Videos. You can use anything but those will fit and line up best. This theme assumes an xbox controller setup: A=Select, B=Back, X=Search, Y=Game Details and Select Button=Change View (not required) I also set the left bumper to platforms and right bumper to platform categories. (not required but helpful) Get as many Banner, Steam Banner and Marquee images as you can. This theme offers a unique view for all arcade cabinet based games and will use those images. There is also a custom view for systems like Windows that also use them. Future Plans: Create a new view that uses the original loading video from each console. (started on 1-3-2020) DONE Complete the white silhouette console and controller images that are used in the startup theme. DONE Add animations to the theme ( @y2guru is working on this ability for his theme creator as we speak and I will update once it is ready) DONE Make platform videos to match this theme (maybe) - In the works How to Install: Extract Retro Console Theme.zip to your launchbox themes folder. This includes all the platform and device logos you need and will automatically use them. ( In order to use other logos just delete the ones in this theme folder) You can also use the startup and pause themes to add more of a consistent flow. Drop the startup video (if you want it) in the launchbox videos root folder. This theme currently has over 80 different platforms and includes the matching device logos, collection logos, category logos and more but some of these have to be added manually through launchbox (sorry). I can not figure out how to make them automatic. Startup Video: Theme Video: Screenshot System View: Screenshots of each Logo Type: Screenshots - Startup and Shutdown and Pause Theme: Screenshots - Random and Extra Stuff: Screenshots - Random Icons and Controllers Made for This Theme:

*Updated 8/29/2020 Not much has changed. I included some images that I use for my platforms/playlists view. This is a work in progress theme for Big Box Theme creator. It is meant for monitors in portrait mode with vertical game play videos. It is still pretty rough, but it's something to use until something better comes along. In order to use this you must also download the theme creator and drop this file in the my projects folder. There is a font to install in the fonts folder. Open and tweak and then publish to use in big box. Updated for theme creator 1.0.8.8 Arcade Overlays and Marquees can be found here. Windows Vertical Videos and Marquees can be found here. Pinball Vertical Videos and Backglass Marquees can be found here. I'm using this theme only for games that support a vertical orientation during gameplay. It is untested with standard resolution games and the corresponding media. I do have plan to expand this build for all arcade games at some point but I am focusing on vertical resolution stuff for now and there is a lot to do. This is a theme based on two themes. One is ClassicMini from @Grila https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/35204-classicmini/ And the unfinished theme "Red 84" from @Jegeroel https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/35634-red-84/ This theme is only possible with the helping hand from @Grila and his magic (and fast) codding skills. I only did the layouts (Kinda, because mostly it's based on what Grila did and Jegeroel) but I did some touches here and there. Also, I strongly recomend using @reignstumble console Artwork Packs : https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/33483-reignstumble-console-artwork-pack/ The main focus is to have the video playing in the Background and launch the game right away. But if you want more info about the game (like the ROM filename) take a look on the details page.I've been using this theme for about two weeks, and haven't encountered any problem on it. If someone needs the PSD files, so they can change the buttons layout, feel free to PM me and I release the file. Again, it wouldn't not be possible with the help of Grila! I hope you guys enjoy it!

  11. Hello all. Introduction Its been around 2 years that I have been using BigBox to play retro games, mainly due to the diversity of custom themes that were available. I decided to create one something like 6 months ago. At first I just wanted to port CoinOPs, but I didn't like the way they managed non arcade systems. So in the end, although it clearly is influenced by its design, it's still something different. From a XAML and code-behind point of view, this theme is finished, although there are some minor things to address. Video Following video is recorded with VLC w/o sound, 75% original and 20fps (couldn't really do better without framerate issues), so it is degraded compared to the real thing: BB.mp4 As you can see, the theme only has : - 1 platform view (horizontal wheel view) - 2 game views (vertical wheel game view and text game view) It can manage auto-populated playlist, but collection and custom playlist problably not very well if at all Bugs/Glitches But before releasing it, I would like to fix some bugs (?) / glitches that annoyed me a little and forced me to work around them. I don't know if there is a solution to these problems though. 1 - There is a weird glitch on platform clear logo with some additional pixel on the bottom as shown here: It is not systematic, neither rare. I read it has something to do with anti-aliasing that can be fixed with padding, but I wasn't able to fix this whatever solution I tried. Most times, if I scroll the glitched logo out of screen then back, the glitch disappears. 2 - There is a glitch where centered list box (from ListBoxScrollCenterNS_05.dll plugin) doesn't display the right border for selected element By setting a max width to the textBlock style, it is displayed correctly. The problem is that this size depends on the screen's width (different for each platform system), and I was unable to define a binding from parent control width. I ended up hidding the left border for symetry purpose, but that's not what I had in mind. 3 - controls:PrioritizedPathSelector The value of the 3rd priority (Priority3FileName) doesn't seem to be taken into account whatever value I put in (even a "_Default"). And well ... yes I need the 5 choices 4 - As you may have seen, I split my systems with auto-populated playlists. When switching from one of the playlist to the platform that contains them, I saw that BB seems to transition through a state that is neither the Platform name, nor the Playlist name. During around 2 frames, my theme displayed all controls (system device, scanlines, glass, video position and proportions) as if the _Default binding was called for whatever reason. I hid that with opacity tricks, but I would have prefered the transition to be "immediate" as from platform to child playlist What is done (23 systems) Amstrad GX4000 Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar Bally Astrocade Commodore Amiga CD32 NEC TurboGrafx-16 Nintendo 64, Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo WiiWare, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (+regional variations) Panasonic 3DO Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn SNK Neo Geo CD, SNK Neo Geo MVS Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation 2 Windows Indie In Progress (33 systems) APF Imagination Machine, Atari XEGS, Bandai Super Vision 8000, Bridge Companion Casio Loopy, Casio PV-1000 Colecovision, Emerson Arcadia 2001, Entex Adventure Vision, Epoch Super Cassette Vision Fairchild Channel F, Funtech Super Acan, GCE Vectrex, Interton VC 4000 Magnavox Odyssey 2, Mattel Intellivision NEC PC-FX, NEC SuperGrafx, NEC TurboGrafx-CD Nintendo 64DD, Nintendo Famicom Disk System, Nintendo Satellaview, Nintendo Sufami Turbo Philips CD-i, Philips Videopac RCA Studio II Sega 32X, Sega CD, Sega Master System, Sega Pico, Sega SG-1000 VTech CreatiVision, WoW Action Max To be done entirely (I didn't work at all on them) All Handhelds, Computers (Except Windows Indies), Arcade Systems (Except Neo Geo), Pinballs Regional variations Some missing home console systems (mainly the ones newer than the Nintendo Wii) Some screens Last words I will release this theme probably short after my holidays (ends half October), whether or not I successfully fix the problems I mentionned earlier. This theme uses some of the device images from EmulationStation theme Tronkyjared (https://github.com/cowboyjeeper/tronkyjared). Many device images and system logos are taken from Wikipedia. @Crylen did many new platform banners, that are now added to the theme. Support: Support will be slow, sorry for that. If you run into issues concerning the custom banner images, please refresh the images first. Also please check your LaunchBox image options for fallbacks. I could not test all the platforms so there could be file naming issues. Special Thanks: @bundangdon @Retro808 @proghodet @Tromzy I received crucial feedback from these fine gamers. Also available as BlueBox version. - BackgroundFanartOnly: All Views will only use Fanart images as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. -> Use this version if you have performance problems! - 1.8: The original and now old version of CriticalZone. It's officially EOL and won't get supported by me in any way. It's just still here for archiving reasons. There’s also a red 80’s/Cyberpunk themed version of CriticalZone called “CityHunter”. It’s maintained by @keltoigael and can be found here: How to install: Just download the version of choice and extract the archive into: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Open the Options menu in BigBox -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to the version you just have installed. IMPORTANT: CriticalZone V2 requires LaunchBox v7.11 or higher! Known issues: - The description texts in all Platform Views and CoverFlowWithDetails Games View won’t fill the whole space of the descriptions box when you use CriticalZone with a higher DPI setting than 100% or a lower display resolution than 1902x1080. It gets progressively worse the higher the DPI settings and/or lower the resolution is. Thanks & Credits: Thanks to @SentaiBrad for creating the new Default background video for the BlueBox variant. * Updated 8/29/2020 Here is a collection of Arcade Media I created for my vertical theme. This includes HD Overlays and HD Marquees if you are running a second monitor. This now includes a few additional systems and videos for things that weren't in my preferred format in the db. Pico-8, Dreamcast, X-Box 360 and Naomi. I'm no longer creating 4K assets. I may circle back around when I upgrade my system to be able to handle 4k. Pinball Media is here. Windows Media is here. A bunch of these are chopped up versions of @Arsinvictus excellent work found on the Retroarch forums. This is a snapshot of my work on this system and will be updated periodically throughout the year. If you would like to be notified when I add additional content to the pack click on the follow button. Arcade.mp4

  17. Hi there I'm in the progress of making a theme for retrofe and decided to port it here or finish it here. I did notice theming looks a bit harder here so it might take some time. I just finished the systems design today. It's roughly based on the retrofe Aura theme. More to come in the near future. H

AllNightLong is trying to be a clean simple theme with little animation and stuff going around. Designed for 16:9, 16:10 and 4:3 screens. Platform navigation features banner images for 52 different platforms. Includes default playlist image in the themes playlist folder. Supported Views: Platform Wheel 1 Platform Wheel 2 Text Filters View Text Games View Horizontal Wheel 1 Games View Horizontal Wheel 2 Games View Vertical Wheel 2 Games View Vertical Wheel 2 Games View Background color: Change the background image/color. (LaunchBox\Themes\AllNightLong\Media\Custom Assets\). The default background file name is "default-bg". So change the backgound file name to this and it will show up in the theme. There are now 5 alternatives or you can make your own also. The only limiting factor is the text color, which will always be white, so white or very light backgrounds will not work. Credits: Theme was created by @thimolor Theme was created using COMMUNITY Theme Creator by @y2guru Uses Google Fonts: Barlow and Barlow Condenced Designed by Jeremy Tribby. Platform Text Filters View Screenshot uses video made by @viking as a platform background. Without them, the theme would be less refined.
  19. Epoch09 is a theme I've been messing around with for a few months. While I'd like to add some features, I decided to turn it loose to get some feedback from the community. Please use this thread to let me know if you have any problems or suggestions. More information about the theme, including how I'd like to expand it with community help, is on the theme's download page. Please note this theme requires you to place my custom library in the LaunchBox metadata folder; instructions are on the download page. I hope you find this theme useful; I've enjoyed working on it ... probably a little too much.

WoodPanels has the old school retro feel of playing games on an old TV in a room with bad, green carpeting, but golden wooden paneled walls. The video game console or platform appears above or beside the television to match that look and feel. It is paired with a set of 8-bit fonts to complete the experience. Designed for 16:9 screens on a 1080p monitor (need feedback on different resolutions) Platform navigation features device images for 40 platforms. Games list view features device images for 40 platforms with support for game videos, game 3D/2D box art, game cart images (SNES, N64, Genesis, 32X, and Jaguar only). Consoles are paired with one of four different TVs from the same decade they were released (70s, 80s, 90s, 00s) "Wall View" for looking at game boxes on shelves is accompanied by the platform logo and image of the original console packaging. WoodPanels Startup Video is here! Alternate all-wood background available below, just unzip it under Launchbox/Themes/ and overwrite the default one. Trailer: Instructions: 1. Unzip in LaunchBox/Themes/WoodPanels. In BigBox under Options>Views>Theme> choose "WoodPanels" 2. To ensure you're viewing the image of the console and TV alongside the game list, go into the BigBox Menu (hit Esc on your keyboard or back on your controller) and select "View Platforms". 3. To view the carousel of devices in your platform view, go into Options>Views>Platform List View> and select "Platform Wheel 1". 4. Lastly, to make sure you keep this view the next time you start BigBox, go into Options>Views>Default Startup View> and select "Platforms". 5. For N64, SNES, Jaguar, Genesis, and Sega 32X, you need to download the game cart images AND you need to set your LaunchBox settings so your fallback images are disabled for this, otherwise when you have a missing game cart image it will pull something else and look...bad. LaunchBox Options>Legacy>Images>Cart Front Priorities>Uncheck all but "Cart - Front" 6. To enable a the "Wall View", change BigBox Options>Views>Games List View>Wall View. Switch it back to "Text List with Details" if you decide to go back. Switch v1.0.3 BigBox Theme 8/30/2017 Display scaling over 100% will cause alignment issues with the platform wheel banner images. Switch Changelog: v1.0.3 (8/30/2017): - moved the GrilaControlLibrary.dll to the theme Plugins folder, which is an added feature since the theme release (the .dll will still need to be un-blocked before launching BigBox) - fixed the large outline bug reported by @jamesclarke555 (thanks again for reporting it to me) v1.0.2 (5/2/2017): - redesigned Text Games View (thanks for the inspiration @NahuelDS) v1.0.1 (4/21/2017): - Dark version added v1.0.0 (4/20/2017): - Initial release Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Switch is a very lightweight, clean theme that was designed to be as close to the original UI as possible. There isn't much artwork in this one: banners for the platform wheel view, covers for the box game view, and a video snap in the game details screen so it should run pretty smooth on low spec systems. It includes a custom control library that I've started to build that contains the battery status indicator as well as a separate 12 and 24 hour clock (since we can't change the format of the built-in one without changing Windows settings). Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the file GrilaControlLibrary.dll to be un-blocked before launching BigBox. Make sure to do this for both the light and dark versions of the theme. * Utilizes the font Oxygen-Regular, which is included in the root theme folder. Install it before running this theme. * Designed for 1920x1080. I can't guarantee it will work at any other resolutions (really only the platform wheel), even in the same aspect ratio, because of the margin that is applied to the wheel to get it off center. The box game view and all text views are NOT affected by this and will work at any resolution, although text spacing and some other misc. elements may not look as perfect as they do at 1080. * Included is a sound pack for BigBox. Move it from the theme directory to LaunchBox\Sounds and select it in the BigBox options menu. It can also be downloaded here https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/467-switch/ * I've included some extra buttons and controller images along with the .PSD and .AI files to edit them if you feel the need. The extras can be swapped out to fit your system by simply copying them from the extras folder to the core image folder and renaming them. The file names have to match what's in the XAML, so you'll need to overwrite or delete the ones you are changing. Filenames are controller.png, play_button.png, and back_button.png. Saludos!! ~ MarianS3
