  1. CriticalZone / CriticalZone - BlueBox View File IMPORTANT: We have recently encountered issues with the background video plugin in V2 which causes BigBox randomly to freeze. We don’t know yet how often this happens and what circumstances triggers them but if you want to make sure to run BigBox with a maximum of stability be sure to either use the FanartOnly versions or V1.8 and wait until these issues are fixed! CriticalZone is a BigBox theme designed for the usage of widescreen platform videos and utilizes videos as backgrounds. This theme was designed for widescreen displays with 16:9 aspect ratios and optimized for a display resolution of 1920x1080. It will also work with other widescreen resolutions and 16:10 aspect ratios but it may not look as polished. Alternative Versions: - CritcalZoneV2 - BlueBox: A blue color variant of CriticalZoneV2. It features blue texts instead of green and has a different Default background created by @SentaiBrad - BackgroundVideoOnly: All Views, except the TextList Views, will only use video loops as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. - BackgroundFanartOnly: All Views will only use Fanart images as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. -> Use this version if you have performance problems! - 1.8: The original and now old version of CriticalZone. It's officially EOL and won't get supported by me in any way. It's just still here for archiving reasons. There’s also a red 80’s/Cyberpunk themed version of CriticalZone called “CityHunter”. It’s maintained by @keltoigael and can be found here: V2 of CriticalZone now features a complete new video engine created by @eatkinola which supports the following: - Multiple background videos and randomized shuffle between them - Individual background videos for all Platforms, Platform Categories and Playlists Check the “Guide - How to set up your own background videos.pdf” file inside the theme folder for further instructions. If you need a great source for generic background videos, than I highly recommend this YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/dvdangor2011 How to install: Just download the version of choice and extract the archive into: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Go to the “Plugins” folder inside of the extracted folder and right-click on of the .dll files. Choose Properties -> Click on “Unblock” at the bottom of the window. Close the window. Repeat that for all 3 .dll files in that folder. Open the Options menu in BigBox -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to the version you just have installed. IMPORTANT: CriticalZone V2 requires LaunchBox v7.11 or higher! Known issues: - The star rating won't show up sometimes when you jump too quickly from one game to the next. - The description texts in all Platform Views and CoverFlowWithDetails Games View won’t fill the whole space of the descriptions box when you use CriticalZone with a higher DPI setting than 100% or a lower display resolution than 1902x1080. It gets progressively worse the higher the DPI settings and/or lower the resolution is. Thanks & Credits: Special thanks to @eatkinola for creating the new video engine and helping me with the star rating banners. I also would like to thank @SentaiBrad for creating the new Default background video for the BlueBox variant. Check out his YouTube channel were he continuous his RetroStyleSpotlight video series he once did for the LaunchBox channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/brad2008 Background video of the standard version: In The Deep - FREE Video Background Loop HD 1080p by NIZ.co (http://niz.co/wp/) Submitter CriticalCid Submitted 11/03/2016 Category Big Box Custom Themes

    Switch Theme

Switch Theme View File Switch v1.0.3 BigBox Theme 8/30/2017 Display scaling over 100% will cause alignment issues with the platform wheel banner images. Switch Changelog: v1.0.3 (8/30/2017): - moved the GrilaControlLibrary.dll to the theme Plugins folder, which is an added feature since the theme release (the .dll will still need to be un-blocked before launching BigBox) - fixed the large outline bug reported by @jamesclarke555 (thanks again for reporting it to me) v1.0.2 (5/2/2017): - redesigned Text Games View (thanks for the inspiration @NahuelDS) v1.0.1 (4/21/2017): - Dark version added v1.0.0 (4/20/2017): - Initial release Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Switch is a very lightweight, clean theme that was designed to be as close to the original UI as possible. There isn't much artwork in this one: banners for the platform wheel view, covers for the box game view, and a video snap in the game details screen so it should run pretty smooth on low spec systems. It includes a custom control library that I've started to build that contains the battery status indicator as well as a separate 12 and 24 hour clock (since we can't change the format of the built-in one without changing Windows settings). Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the file GrilaControlLibrary.dll to be un-blocked before launching BigBox. Make sure to do this for both the light and dark versions of the theme. * Utilizes the font Oxygen-Regular, which is included in the root theme folder. Install it before running this theme. * Designed for 1920x1080. I can't guarantee it will work at any other resolutions (really only the platform wheel), even in the same aspect ratio, because of the margin that is applied to the wheel to get it off center. The box game view and all text views are NOT affected by this and will work at any resolution, although text spacing and some other misc. elements may not look as perfect as they do at 1080. * Included is a sound pack for BigBox. Move it from the theme directory to LaunchBox\Sounds and select it in the BigBox options menu. It can also be downloaded here https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/467-switch/ * I've included some extra buttons and controller images along with the .PSD and .AI files to edit them if you feel the need. The extras can be swapped out to fit your system by simply copying them from the extras folder to the core image folder and renaming them. The file names have to match what's in the XAML, so you'll need to overwrite or delete the ones you are changing. Filenames are controller.png, play_button.png, and back_button.png. Alternate Versions ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1280x720 GPDWin focused version (video replaced with screenshot): Switch_v1.0.1_1280x720.zip 1280x800 Tablet focused version (video replaced with screenshot): Switch_v1.0.1_1280x800.zip Submitter Grila Submitted 04/20/2017 Category Big Box Custom Themes

    Unified

    Version 1.1.1

    4,172 downloads

This theme is a port of the HyperSpin Unified Widescreen Megatheme project, which was originally started by gibbawho and continued by many other talented artists over the years. It’s supposed to bring a unified look (hence the name) across all platforms while giving every platform it’s own individual touch. I’ve tried to stay very close to the original look and feel but also took some creative freedom, especially when it comes to the new fading info panel at the bottom of the screen. This theme was designed for 16:9 screens and display resolutions only. Big Box will automatically scale itself to a 16:9 aspect ratio when you use a different aspect ratio on your machine. Features: Individual Artwork for a lot of different platforms and playlists + some alternatives you can choose from Matches with the Unified platform video set from EmuMovies Fully animated wheel pointer Spinning discs for disc-based platforms Various other custom animations Uses the weather plugin by @Grila Templates to build your own platform artwork are included as .psd files Brings a small taste of the HyperSpin feeling to your Big Box setup Currently featured Views: Games Text List View: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 1: 3D Box Games Vertical Wheel View 2: 3D Box + static cart/disc Games Vertical Wheel View 3: 3D Box + rotating disc Games Vertical Wheel View 4: Fullscreen video Platform Vertical Wheel View 1: Fullscreen video + scrolling text Platform Vertical Wheel View 2: Fullscreen video without scrolling text More Views are planned, so stay tuned. The theme includes artwork for the following 198 Platforms/Playlists: The Add-on package includes artwork for the following 295 playlists: The theme will also display a default artwork for Platforms/Playlists which are not yet covered or wrongly named. How to install: This theme only works on LaunchBox version 8.2 or higher! Just download the archive and extract it to: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Go to the “Plugins” folder inside of the extracted folder and right-click on of the .dll files. Choose Properties -> Click on “Unblock” at the bottom of the window. Close the window. Repeat that for all .dll files in that folder. If the "Unblock" button isn't there than you are already good to go. Open the Options menu in Big Box -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to "Unified". Change the “Games List View” and “Platforms List View” to one of the currently featured Views that are listed above. Make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled. Info: Never rename the theme folder! The theme folder has to be named exactly "Unified" or the theme won't work properly! (that's btw. an universal tip for all other themes as well) How to install the Add-on package: Just extract the contents of the .zip file into your LaunchBox folder. Note: You have to create the proper playlists for the collections yourself! How to change the location and temperature measurement unit for the Weather plugin: 1. Close BigBox in case you have it opened up 2. Visit the website http://www.woeidlookup.com/ and search for a location of your choice 3. Go to the “Plugins” folder inside the Unified theme folder Path: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\Unified\Plugins” 4. Open the “GrilaBBWeather.dll.config” with a text editor of your choice. For example: Notepad 5. Copy the WOEID from the website and replace the already existing ID in the config file with it 6. If you want to change the temperature unit from Fahrenheit to Celsius just change the “f” under Units to a “c” 7. Save the config file and you’re done Known issues: The logo of the Platform/Playlist and the individual video border don't show up in the Game Details screen and the theme displays the generic Big Box logo and metallic video border instead when it gets opened through any other Games View than the Text List View. Tips for tweaking your LaunchBox setup for this theme: In LaunchBox: Tools -> Options -> Cart Front Priorities -> Select all Cart and Disc related entries, deselect everything else. In Big Box: Options ->Transitions -> Change "Game Image/Video Transition” to “Fade” In Big Box: To avoid spinning cart art go to: Options -> Views -> Make sure that „Remember separate View for each platform” is checked. Than go either to the Keyboard Mappings or the Controller Buttons settings and set up a key/button for “Switch View”. Now you can go back to your platforms and switch the games Views for each platform individually on the fly. Use the Unified Platform videos from EmuMovies for an overall uniform look. You can either download them as free user from the EmuMovies website or if you are an EmuMovies premium user you can get them directly through LaunchBox under: Tools -> "Download Platform/Playlist Theme Videos". What is the Add-on package? The theme itself will always only include artwork for Platforms and Playlists that also have a Unified Platform video available on EmuMovies in order to provide a seamless experience. Everything else goes into the Add-on package. More generic playlists like franchises, series, genres, etc. are also only included in the Add-on package to avoid that the theme gets unnecessarily blown up it in its size. The same goes for everything that differs too much from the default Unified style. Individual platform artwork not showing up?: The media files that are inside the “..\LaunchBox\Themes\Unified\Images\Theme\..” folder have to be named exactly like your platforms inside LaunchBox. I've went with the HyperList/RocketLauncher naming conventions for the filenames in this package. If Big Box doesn’t show any individual artwork for a system that is listed above you may need to manually rename the relevant files for that platform in all four sub-folders. Also make sure that in the Big Box Options -> Views –> “Show Games List Title” is enabled! Discs are not spinning / showing up?: Make sure you have the right Games List View selected and Disc images in your Cart Image Priorities enabled (see the tips section of this download description). Hey guys! In the last few days I added the 'Recently Played' auto-populating playlist to my set, and I was bummed to realize that there is no media for this category (that I could find), so I went ahead and created two simple videos and a clear logo to go with them. I am nowhere near the great video creators from this forum (I would have loved to make a video with a synced equalizer, and graphics flying all over the place hehe), so be easy on me. Option 1 Disclaimer; the video source clips and song are from Polygon.com by Reverse Enginears featuring P Sus. I edited stuff in and out, changed resolutions, times, blurs, fades, etc. Recently Played.mp4 Option 2 (ALT) Disclaimer; the video source is a fan-video made by Kriskappashox and FreankExpo's Staff. The song used is "Donkey Kong REMIX [Super Bass Boosted]" by San Holo. Recently Played ALT.mp4 Option 3 (ALT 2) Disclaimer; the video source is from YT user 4096 called "Evolution of Game Cartridge". The song used is "Donkey Kong REMIX [Super Bass Boosted]" by San Holo. Recently Played ALT 2.mp4 You can also grab the logo I made that goes along with the videos. The bitten gamepad is based on an idea from designevo. If somebody wants to improve or create a video/logo for this category, please be my guest; the more options the merrier Enjoy!

  15. Heya, it's me back at it again with my first ever theme collab for a Launchbox theme. Me and @faeran wanted to create a platform line of themes, with each theme resembling the platform feel and looks. But instead of having multiple themes like Coverbox (Which we will add eventually once we have all the platform pages changed into something unique) we want to make one theme that represents each and every system in it's best way possible. From their authenticated colors to their classic games all proudly showcased so you can show it off to everyone you like. We will keep you all updated of course with screenshots, media and more. And we hope to eventually release this theme for everyone to enjoy. Here is a set of ,currently, 270 Collection videos to be used with playlists. This coincides with all of the media released in the @CriticalCid theme "Unified". I have decided to upload them here, because Jason is a busy man,and I understand how much work it could be to enter this many videos in manually. I do plan on releasing more in the future, with an estimated goal of around 500-600 total playlist videos,as well as all of the artwork for the Unified theme that's needed. I do not have an estimated time-frame as to the release of more,I just know that's the plan. While I never expect anyone to actually have 600 playlists in their BigBox setup,I do believe that variety is the spice of life, and this will give plenty of options for personalizing your lists.Enjoy! Here was the release video I made for the initial 70 Collection videos : And here was the preview video of the 200 videos that followed : You can also find the Genre videos here :

    Theme XAML Request/Idea

Hey I'm new to the forums and I was wondering if someone could make a theme similar to the Playstation 4 or the Xbox One UI. I really like the Switch Theme by Grila and think it would be cool to have a theme similar to those consoles as well.
  20. Hello, This theme started as a side project during the development of RetrAO Cafe 1.7 along with a third theme that i'll reveal soon. BIGFLIX as the name suggests is a variation of Netflix for BigBox, the theme is still in early beta stages with only one view completed so far as my main focus was directed towards the completion of RetrAO Cafe 1.7, but I decided to resume developing this theme as RetrAO Cafe 1.7 has been put into halt as I wait for the release of Launchbox 7.11 Here is a screenshot of the completed view (subject to change in the final release): I'm still undecided on how to move forward with regards to designing other views so your ideas are much welcomed, i'm also looking for talented people from the community who can help me in designing artwork for this theme (i.e banners, platform clear logos and custom fanarts) If you liked the theme and you're interested in helping me with the artwork design let me know in the comments below. Cheers

    Modernist

Modernist View File This is my latest theme and has taken many weeks of work to get to this stage. A big thank you to @eatkinola for his assistance with getting the video plugin working. The theme is loosely based on the Netflix interface and is designed to be a clean dark theme with an emphasis on fanart and videos. The plugin is included within the theme for the videos to work correctly. As with Netflix the theme is designed to show the fanart for approx. 4 seconds before then fading in the video. As the videos do not use the inbuilt Launchbox control and instead use the plugin I have found the experience smoother with the video option set to Windows Media Player rather than VLC and have not experienced any issues in doing this though your mileage may vary so if one doesn't work/stutters try the other. There is one platform view in this theme and 7 Game views. The Game views are clear logos vertical, screenshots vertical 4:3 format, screenshots vertical 16:9 format, horizontal clear logos, horizontal screenshots 4:3, horizontal screenshots 16:9 and a two row Wall View. The game details screen includes full controller layout for the various platforms (all major ones covered) and there is a template file included for Gimp GNU in the theme/images/controls folder should you wish to change the control images / styles. As always comments and suggestions welcome. Enjoy! Submitter shro2016 Submitted 05/02/2018 Category Big Box Custom Themes
