About Me

  1. These custom console themed overlays were edited and assembled by me to play your retro console games with a unique nostalgic bezel on Retroarch. Please enjoy and have fun. Please give me credit and the others involved if you use it on your Youtube channel. Thanks. Most of the original artwork came from ReignStumble. Credit is given to RetroKenesis for the bezel frames. You can download all my console themed overlays here - http://bit.ly/2nbRtPs Here's a Tutorial on how to add them to Retroarch.
  2. Hi there I'm in the progress of making a theme for retrofe and decided to port it here or finish it here. I did notice theming looks a bit harder here so it might take some time. I just finished the systems design today. It's roughly based on the retrofe Aura theme. More to come in the near future. H
  3. I'm having a little trouble with the apply to function, specifically with Colorful - Dark. When I apply the selective process to a games view list, it gives me the option to not apply the theme to my platforms list. So I can maintain a custom theme (that doesn't have the apply to function) as my platforms view and have colorful as my games view. But when I try to do the inverse, apply colorful to my platforms view and keep the custom theme as my games view, it resets my games view to match Colorful as well. Anybody know what could be causing this and/or if it's even fixable? Also, is there a way to apply a separate view to a game once you select it and keep another theme in place in the games list?
  4. Everytime I try switching off Default I get a barrage of error messages saying it can’t parse basically everything in the views folder -.- Why does this happen? I’ve tried reinstalling multiple times with no fix. Please send help! I see a bunch of people have this issue and no one has an answer so far!

This program is a scraper for your video files, to be used with launchbox. ------------What it does:------------ Imagine you have in your possesison a full collection of video snaps and theme videos for launchbox. Now, you might just have them all in your launchbox\videos\ folder, and everything will work. However, you might prefer to have only some games that you like in your launchbox installation, in a faster SSD, or you might have a Raspberry Pi, which has limited space. In those cases, you will want to only get the videos that correspond to the games you have in launchbox. This program does that automatically for you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------How do you use this program then??------------ Glad you ask! -1: set the path of your launchbox installation. Usually C:\program Files\Launchbox for example -2: set the path of the folder in which you have your full video collection. For example D:\Launchbox Videos\ -3: Check the checkboxes "Run for videos snaps" and "Run for Themes" depending on if you want to get game snaps, theme videos, or both -4: Press Run ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------Things to have in consideration:------------ You have to have your video folders with the same name of the folders in the launchbox directory. ie, if a folder is called "sega saturn" in launchbox, the correspondent in the folder that containsall your videos can't be called only "saturn". The blue button "Correct Names of video folders attempts to solve this, but you should check. If you want, you can run the program for just one game platform. To do that, check "Run for One Platform Only", press "Get Platforms" and select the platform you want to run for. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------"Other Options" explanation:------------ --"Ignore platform if no original videos are present" - check this if you don't want to be reminded thatthe program didn't found any videos for a specific platform. --"Rename original videos": check this if you also want the original videos in your video collection to bepermanently renamed to the name that launchbox is expecting for each game. Any suggestions, you can find me on Launchbox's forum. You're welcome. Be happy. Starplayer Update: You can find the source code here, in case anyone wants to change it. License is GPL: https://github.com/rafcon-dev/Launchbox-Local-Scraper

To Hillbilly or NOT to Hillbilly, that is the question! This is my first attempt with themes and I'm not sure if it was is ready to share yet, but I did. I'm sure there are things that need fixin' that I haven't found yet. It sure ain't perfect and I'm still a workin' on it as I learn. I want to especially thank the folks that replied to my questions in the forums as I worked on this. I also want to say thanks to ALL the great folks of the LB/BB community that simply contribute. They are incredible folks spending 1000s of hours of their time creating new content or taking ideas that others have shared and coming up with new things, designs and looks and share it with us. I am sure many of you can do it with this theme even and reciprocate it back to all of us. Enough about that. Bigbox is all about being able to customize things to your preferences. I really like much of the different Unified themes out there. I also really like the Colorful themes and the Colorful videos. Hillbillies patch things together with bailing wire and duct tape. Me being a "briarhopper" aka hillbilly (couldn't find enough artwork for briarhoppers), and patching things together like we do, I borrowed from the different version of the Unified and Colorful themes. The Hillbilly Edition theme is more of a Unified type theme, but I added some of the features and colors to go well with the Colorful videos, like the Fanart Backgrounds I created for it. One of the main reasons I decided to try to do this was to do something more with Play Modes. I wanted, especially for my large collection, a easy way to see the play modes quickly. So I turned all this into my own mess the best I could. In the older days, you had Single or Multiplayer games, but now there are so many more play mode options. Now there are play modes like Single, Local Multiplayer, MMO (online multiplayer), Co-op, PvP, Simultaneous, Alternating, Shared Screen, Split Screen, Virtual Reality, and all the others and different combinations of them. If you watched the video, maybe you noticed the Players section shown at the bottom of the video. I created over 120+ playmode images to accomplish this (Of course, I still have many games that are not fixed in my collection and you will see that too). It was pretty easy to change all my Play Modes using the bulk edit feature in LaunchBox, and of course I continue to fix games if I find one that isn't correct or has no play mode as I run across them. In the screenshots, I tried showing the different Platforms first, then the Wheel Games, then the Text Games views. There is also one screenshot of each platform that is without the hillbilly using the Un-hillbilly video borders. The video shows more. Video Example What's used in the video: - Startup Video - Robot Voices sound pack - Hillbilly Edition theme (templates are included in the appropriate folders to personalize) - Colorful videos (with a few generic platform videos I attempted to make, that can be downloaded from here) - Platform Clear Logos (included in the theme) - Gold Rating Stars (included in the theme) - Platform Fanart Background images (included in the theme) - Hillbilly Edition-Startup Theme - Hillbilly Edition-Pause Theme Other Downloads: (you might be able to use some of these in other themes) - Un-hillbilly VideoBorders if you want to remove the hillbilly - VideoBorders without the Play Mode legend (looks cleaner and not really needed once you get the hang of how the play mode images work) - Fanart Platform backgrounds to match the Colorful videos (these are included in theme) - Different colors of Star Icons for rating stars - Legend template & Legend Images to make you own legends for Play Modes. - Blank Clear Logo image to make you own Platform Clear Logos - Colorful type platform videos I made until Viking makes the good stuff. - Extra Platform and Collection Backgrounds (500 of them, most were included with one of the other Unified versions) Instructions: Download & extract. Place the "Hillbilly Edition" folder in the "..\Launchbox\theme\" folder Download any of the extra things you might like to use or change, like the VideoBorders or Stars. Each download should have a Readme.txt in it as well as the template (if there was one). A lot of the stuff is included with the theme already, so check above to make sure not to download it again. I uploaded them seperate so folks might download them to use with other themes, like folks using the Colorful videos might like the Fanart Backgrounds. Additional Notes: - To stop spinning game cartidges, you need to go into BB Options > Views and make sure to check "Remember Seperate View for Each Platform", then back out of the Options and use the <TAB> key on your keyboard to change views until you get the views you want. - If you want to change the Options background, there are a couple alternates called Background (Alt).jpg, just rename the one you want to use to "Background.jpg" or put any jpg image you want to use in the MainMenu folder and name it to Background.jpg. (I recommend at least 1920x1080, but I tried using 3840x2160 throught the theme) - To achieve the side-ways view of the cartridges, I turned all my cartridge images 90 degrees using a free image editor called FS-Image Editor in just a couple minutes. - I also resize all my images using FS-Image Editor (usually once a year or so). It can save a ton of HDD space and it also makes everything more uniform. So if you have something out of whack as far as sizes, like boxes way to big, you might wanna give this a try. Bonus: I wanted to make sure anyone could change the theme as easy as possible to their own tastes. Dont like something I did in the theme? No problem, swap out the hillbilly for a picture of your dog. I have included all the Photoshop templates. Some as simple as clicking things off/on and saving your changes. You can completely re-do about any part of the theme using nothing more that Photoshop and Notepad++. I just barely get by with Photoshop, so if I can do it, I'm sure you can too. I hope you enjoy the theme!! I appreciate any and all comments, reviews, likes, etc.. If ya have any questions or issues, let me know and I will get back as best I can.

  10. Hello all! I applied a new theme in Launchbox which caused the "Options" to get corrupted. Upon selecting "Options" a small little window pops up which you can see in attachment "snip.png". Attachment "snip2.png" is the result of dragging the window open. All the options have been replaced with an image called "options". Is there a way I can manually fix this issue? Reinstalling did not fix the problem. Thanks, kagemurax

    Playlists

Fairly new to Launchbox/Bigbox, after 2 years of Learning Ins and outs of Retropie/Recalbox. I would like to know how to add a Favorites option on main Platform wheel without switching over to playlist...ect. I want to set this up in a Bartop, so ease of use for people playing it is important. Tried to create a platform called favorites, but it was not placed in main platform list. Also, how does one add a playlist option to the main platform wheel, or do you have to set a button up on controller to switch back and forth between views? Thanks.
  14. Noticed that many of the videos in console themes download option in launchbox do not play for preview. If I downloaded them from the Launchbox Forum, where exactly do I place the file? Looked in Theme file and video file but did not notice a specific console theme folder. Thanks.
  15. Hi, newbie trying to get the right settings here to have BigBox show up correctly on my 21:9 monitor. It looks great, but after tinkering with a few of the settings, and dropping in themes I've downloaded, I think its best I just leave it to the original way it was setup when I first opened BigBox. I cannot find an easy way to reset the settings and way it was easily, and I cannot remember how it was -- does anyone know how to get it back to the way it came? I'd hate to trash Launchbox / BigBox and redownload it and then have to re-download all the coverart and stuff again for each ROM... Thank you in advance for any input you can give...! (Also, if anyone knows of a good 21:9 theme that would be awesome too)
  16. This is my design under another Front End and it became the default Theme. I have gotten several requests to bring it to BigBox. Here are a couple of screen Shots to give you an idea. I am working on the design and as i get closer to a working version I will post an update. Happy Gaming

I put this out there for my fellow Cowboy Bebop fans to have something cool, and to let people out there know, that Bigbox can handle more than just games. That being said it doesn't scrape movies or TV shows vary well. You need to basically find the images yourself and insert them manually, if you were trying to put your movies in Bigbox. Of course, I have gone though the trouble of doing that work for all of us on this one. What I have done here is create a console theme if you will, for setting up your Cowboy Bebop Anime as a device in LaunchBox/BigBox, that has all the images for every single Cowboy Bebop episode/sessions, and that will appear as its own identity along side the rest of your consoles. The collection includes: The Cowboy Bebop Movie, all episode/session titles, fan art for the backgrounds, Art/images for the "Device" selection screen, and the clear logo for the title at the device selection screen (Bigbox will think that "Cowboy Bebop" is a video game system like the rest of your stuff) Lastly I included the Cowboy Bebop Theme song. Just in case you would like it to play in the background when you are choosing what episode/session to watch. It adds a really nice element to the whole setup. This updated version 1.0.2 is as easy as it gets to set up. It contains everything you need neatly packed, and comes with clear and concise instructions on a note pad file in the download. To get the theme song to play in the background place the song in launchbox/music/background/platforms/Cowboy Bebop You can also get the Cowboy Bebop theme song as your main background theme song by copying it to launchbox/music/background/platforms NOTE: place the song below the platforms folder, not inside of it. I provided a screenshot above if your confused. Obviously I can not give you the actual episodes/sessions as they were called, but if your reading this you probably already have them. If you don't, whats wrong with you? Do what LaunchBox/BigBox fans do best, and get yourself a good download/torrent, and dust off this award winning classic! Hope you all enjoy this setup, and I hope more people end up putting stuff like this out there for everyone to get even more out of BigBox. NOTE: If your not a fan of cluttering your game collection things that are not games, then I would just like to remind everyone you can have multiple LaunchBox/BigBox setups, and that they are portable. You could have one for games and another just for your media. While I am on the topic, if you get an Nvida Shield you can stream your LaunBox/BigBox setup to any TV in your house. Obviously this is great for gaming, but also makes the BigBox media setup much more viable too. An excellent tutorial video on this was made by ETA Prime on youtube. I'll leave a link and youtube search instructions, if your interested. You can search youtube for "stream launchbox to nvidia shield" and it will be the first video, or use the link below. Big thanks to everyone who gave this setup a try. I hope you all enjoy! Stay classy retro fans

  20. Hey, good morning guys, how are you all doing? I have a quick technical inquiry about Big Box and Custom Themes. I want to utilize a different Platform Video Set and Clear Logos per Theme. So for example, for the CityHunter Theme I want to use the standard Cinematix Platform Video Set, along with the default Clear Logos. And for the Unified 1.2 Theme I want to use the Unified Platform Video Set, along with the Silver Ring - Clear Logo set. How would I set this up, so that when I choose the City Hunter theme, the desired Platform Video and Clear Logo Set shows up, and likewise when I choose the Unified 1.2 Theme?. Thank you guys and have a nice day.

Hi there, this is the second theme that I made as an extension to the excellent Coverbox themes made by @faeran if you want more platform-specific themes, go check out his Coverbox main theme down below. I recommend using this with Coverbox. However, this theme is different compared to others that it's actually a theme that only plays when you are on the Wii U game selection screen. In order to make it work you have to do the following: (Before starting Big Box, go to Launchbox/Themes/Coverbox - Nintendo DS/Fonts and install the Nintendo-DS-BIOS.ttf font in order to properly display the theme) 1. Head over to Options in the Big Box Menu 2. Scroll down to Keyboard Shortcuts 3. Look through the list of options until you find "Switch Theme". 4. Choose a key for the shortcut and head over to your Nintendo DS Platform Game Selection Screen 5. Press the Key and choose the theme from the list that pops up. 6. Congratulations you now have a Nintendo DS Theme that launches no matter what another theme you're using. I hope that this theme will help you show off your Wii U collection even more and I will soon upload Wii U Video Snaps so stay tuned. My Nintendo Wii U Coverbox Theme: Link to Coverbox by @faeran
  22. Starplayer's Local Scraper for Launchbox View File This program is a scraper for your video files, to be used with launchbox. Be happy. Starplayer Submitter starplayer Submitted 12/16/2018 Category Third-party Apps and Plugins
