DISCLAIMER: Use at your own risk! Please read and understand Youtube's terms of service. I will not be held liable for any mis-use of any product or service. This plugin makes use of a popular open source and unlicensed application, youtube-dl to download game videos. It first downloads videos from the link provided in the metadata from LaunchBox, skipping videos longer than a specified duration, and then searching for videos for missing games based on input search terms. It is intended for Modern Windows games as this was my need initially. It may work on other platforms but is not well tested. Installation Instructions: Note: For this plugin to work, you will need to have youtube-dl (included in .zip). Extract the contents of the .zip folder and place it in your LaunchBox plugins folder. Usage Instructions: Select a game or multiple games, right-click and select "Download Video Snap." Adjust the maximum duration if desired. The "Get Missing videos" checkbox sets weather or not to search for videos of games that don't have URL's in their metadata. Enter desired search terms for Missing videos. click "Start" to start the download process. Games will download asynchronously. resuming downloads is also supported natively. Known Issues: probably many that I am unaware of. Other: PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT A DEVELOPER! I know very little about C# and programming in general, thus probably wont be able to address many issues that you may face. That being said I will try and fix things were I can. I've provided the spagetti source code for anyone to modify, improve, etc. (it seems you need to unblock the forms in the "Resources" folder -> RMB->properties->unblock) As of now, i'm more comfortable with the usability of the plugin, however there are still probably many issues, any comments to provide insight/improvement to the code etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks to @srxz for his source of Youtube Scraper of which this is based. Thanks: @srxz @JoeViking245 @C-Beats maikeru86
  4. Hey Group! I've just completed and uploaded a new set of 16x9 platform videos for use with Launchbox/BigBox (and any frontend really). These are 16x9 in size (1080p/30) and are meant to be used used full screen. Here's a Youtube link with a quick demo of them. I'm working on how to upload them to the Launchbox Downloads section .... not sure if I can upload 30GB or not! ===================== A new set of platform videos for use with all of the various gaming frontends. Launchbox/BigBox Hyperspin Attract Mode etc., etc. There are 465 new platform videos covering: category menus (nested menus) arcade arcade boards collections computers consoles hacks pinball ..plus a few others thrown in All of these are available at the links below. See the full list of supported systems here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GWdoWqfPysm-_w49Ll-WAy-dFjwfcNVR/view?usp=sharing NOTE: There are a few more platform videos I'd like to make so that 465 might be wrong at time of posting. --------------------------- EmuMovies FTP: /Upload Here/_Video Snap Submissions/DMarti Two sets are available here: 1080p/60 1080p/30 --------------------------- 1fichier link: Only the 1080p/30 are available here. https://1fichier.com/dir/JlBzqBXf --------------------------- Mega.nz link: Only the 1080p/30 are available here: https://mega.nz/folder/ocFVXSLR#mz0Gp1EsPTjY2byGPi74tg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please share with others and hopefully they are enjoyed!
  5. CriticalZone / CriticalZone - BlueBox View File Here you can download alternative versions of the CriticalZoneV2 theme that comes bundled with every LaunchBox installation. CriticalZone is a BigBox theme designed for the usage of widescreen platform videos and utilizes videos as backgrounds. This theme was designed for widescreen displays with 16:9 aspect ratios and optimized for a display resolution of 1920x1080. It will also work with other widescreen resolutions and 16:10 aspect ratios but it may not look as polished. Available Versions: - CritcalZoneV2 - BlueBox: A blue color variant of CriticalZoneV2. It features blue texts instead of green and has a different Default background created by @SentaiBrad - BackgroundVideoOnly: All Views, except the TextList Views, will only use video loops as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. - BackgroundFanartOnly: All Views will only use Fanart images as backgrounds. Also available as BlueBox version. -> Use this version if you have performance problems! - 1.8: The original and now old version of CriticalZone. It's officially EOL and won't get supported by me in any way. It's just still here for archiving reasons. There’s also a red 80’s/Cyberpunk themed version of CriticalZone called “CityHunter”. It’s maintained by @keltoigael and can be found here: How to install: Just download the version of choice and extract the archive into: “..\LaunchBox\Themes\” Open the Options menu in BigBox -> go to “Views” and change the Theme to the version you just have installed. IMPORTANT: CriticalZone V2 requires LaunchBox v7.11 or higher! Known issues: - The description texts in all Platform Views and CoverFlowWithDetails Games View won’t fill the whole space of the descriptions box when you use CriticalZone with a higher DPI setting than 100% or a lower display resolution than 1902x1080. It gets progressively worse the higher the DPI settings and/or lower the resolution is. Thanks & Credits: Thanks to @SentaiBrad for creating the new Default background video for the BlueBox variant. Background video of the standard version: In The Deep - FREE Video Background Loop HD 1080p by NIZ.co (http://niz.co/wp/) Submitter CriticalCid Submitted 11/03/2016 Category Big Box Custom Themes

  7. Refried Theme Platform Video Set View File A set of 155 (with more to come) platform videos, that I have created to match perfectly with my Refried theme. I have used the same character,Background, and border art in the videos, that is in the theme, for the majority of the videos. I am sure it's obvious where the influence came from for the theme, but, this whole thing started out as an alternate version to the Unified theme, which sort of took off and became something slightly different overall. While I do have plans for about 60+ more videos to add to this set,I am afraid I cannot take requests,at least until the project,as a whole, is completed. A special Thank you to @RetroNi for allowing me to use his white bordered logo set, with a few changes, for the titles in these videos...As well as @CriticalCid for giving me the unspoken inspiration to even start this project in the first place! Samples - Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Sega CD - AAE - Capcom CPSIII - Pinball FX2 - Nintendo Virtual Boy - Microsoft MS-DOS - The Main Theme can be found here... This program is a scraper for your video files, to be used with launchbox. ------------What it does:------------ Imagine you have in your possesison a full collection of video snaps and theme videos for launchbox. Now, you might just have them all in your launchbox\videos\ folder, and everything will work. However, you might prefer to have only some games that you like in your launchbox installation, in a faster SSD, or you might have a Raspberry Pi, which has limited space. In those cases, you will want to only get the videos that correspond to the games you have in launchbox. This program does that automatically for you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------How do you use this program then??------------ Glad you ask! -1: set the path of your launchbox installation. Usually C:\program Files\Launchbox for example -2: set the path of the folder in which you have your full video collection. For example D:\Launchbox Videos\ -3: Check the checkboxes "Run for videos snaps" and "Run for Themes" depending on if you want to get game snaps, theme videos, or both -4: Press Run ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------Things to have in consideration:------------ You have to have your video folders with the same name of the folders in the launchbox directory. ie, if a folder is called "sega saturn" in launchbox, the correspondent in the folder that containsall your videos can't be called only "saturn". The blue button "Correct Names of video folders attempts to solve this, but you should check. If you want, you can run the program for just one game platform. To do that, check "Run for One Platform Only", press "Get Platforms" and select the platform you want to run for. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------"Other Options" explanation:------------ --"Ignore platform if no original videos are present" - check this if you don't want to be reminded thatthe program didn't found any videos for a specific platform. --"Rename original videos": check this if you also want the original videos in your video collection to bepermanently renamed to the name that launchbox is expecting for each game. Any suggestions, you can find me on Launchbox's forum. You're welcome. Be happy. Starplayer Update: You can find the source code here, in case anyone wants to change it. License is GPL: https://github.com/rafcon-dev/Launchbox-Local-Scraper
  12. I'm doing some library cleanup and was curious when you would use the Video URL property for a title vs importing an video file to your library. Do any views/themes utilize the Video URL property?

  15. I just wanted to share ? I discovered OBS Studio many moons ago and used to to compile a "nostalgia" set of recordings when I got old games working that I used to play when I was a kid. I eventually gave up and discovering eXoDOS has made the process almost superfluous seeing as LaunchBox "playlists" can now have all the games in a nice collection across different platforms etc. The take away from this was I found OBS Studio to be the best free game recording software after testing a bunch. Anyway, fast forward to LaunchBox integrating OBS Studio and like ETA Prime's video, I set mine to record with F12. Great! I've recorded a few things to show my partner who like to watch bits and pieces of games but is often not around when I make it to a certain part. This is when I started exploring OBS a bit more, excited by my new found appreciation for it. People might not be aware but the "buffer recording" feature, allows you to keep a running recording of say 60 seconds. When something cool happens, you can press a hot key and save the last 60 seconds. I've found this great! It's reminiscent of GTA IV when they added a similar feature, I love it. If you want to give it a crack, the way I've set it up is to set F12 to start and stop recording, like ETA Prime. Then F11 to save the buffer recording. There is a caveat here. You need to start the replay buffer. I tried to automate this without much luck. Essentially I'd like the buffer to start and stop with the launching of a game. In the meantime either manually start it before playing a game by right clicking the tray icon and clicking "Start replay buffer", clicking "start replay buffer" in the control section of OBS, or run OBS with --startreplaybuffer switch. Attached is a video example of a funny Prince of Persia situation I found myself in. ? Hope some of you find this useful/interesting. Replay 2020-07-18 18-13-54_Trim.mp4

  21. Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help. I'm getting a lot of lag when I'm moving between platforms in Bigbox - it's around 10-13 seconds for each right now. There are over 220 platforms in there and I thought this was the issue but I've just finished over 270 playlists and those videos are fine - click, wait 1-2 seconds, they play. I've tried several things including move them to their individual folders (A, B etc) with changes to the .xml files, defragging, moving the videos to an SSD drive and more. I'm not getting why they're quick in playlists but not in platforms. One of the videos is over 1GB, most are less than 50MB. They all have the same lag time. My system has an 8-core CPU, 6GB video, 32Gb RAM so it's not that. Has anyone seen this and successfully managed to speed these up?
  22. I am trying to download game clips (videos) from EmuMovies. I thought in the past that there was an video option under the Download Metadata and Media Wizard window. However, video download doesn't seem to be an option. Am I missing something?
  23. Something very funky has been happening to my Launchbox. I've provided a screenshot of one of the occasions where custom fields are being duplicate, this seems to affect only some games and only some fields, and to get worse over time. I spent 3 hours setting the game video for these games, but the video source keeps getting reset, despite the games being present in the respective folders. I've also lost my last few added games, but I really can't say for sure if something else is missing. This has started happening today, after turned on my PC. Last time I had used launchbox it was on my other PC, and the two folders are synced through Google Drive. The problem can't be Drive though, because despite the xml files sometimes conflicting, the issue is in one xml file only, the one in use. For example if I open the custom field entry for 60 seconds, I can see (at the bottom of the Windows.xml file) 8 different entries of the game's id + a repeated field. This is very frustrating and potentially distructive to my setup which I put hundreds of hours into. I really can't keep using the program until it gets fixed because I risk destroying my collection and further corrupting my xmls...and I really don't have any way to check if or what is getting screwed up or deleted, which really drives me insane )= has this ever been reported before? I can share my ENTIRE setup with the devs on request, please contact me if needed and I'll share the whole installation folder.

So this is probably overkill and the filesize is much larger than your typical game theme video (191MB). It’s also a bit longer (3:40) and might clash with your current video themes. But atypical is what I was going for with this one. Super Metroid has been my favorite video game ever since it first released way back in 1994. I wanted to pay tribute to it and the community that has developed around it over the years, so almost all of the art in the video are works crafted by fans of this game and franchise. The medley was done by a YouTuber who goes by the name FamilyJules. I didn't want to make a video that went on for over 7 minutes, but the full medley is just below: Hopefully some of you will enjoy it.
  25. Hello, I've purchased a premium license but I'm interested in getting my video snaps to play in Launchbox premium not Big Box (I know they play in Big Box but I'm trying to troubleshoot some slowness in the UI). The platform I am working with is NES. I have the video in \LaunchBox\Videos\Nintendo Entertainment System and it is named the same as my Rom in the Games folder. Under Tools I have selected 'Autoplay Videos'. In the game I am testing it shows a path to the video file and it points to the correct file. I have the game details sidebar visible, but still I see no video snap. What am I missing here?
