I tried searching for a press kit for the game, often they will include the logo with alpha channel intact, but no luck. I hope someone can do this one. Here they are, not perfect but much better that the ones we have right now. Submitted to LB database. This logo was tricky to crop because of the fire that has a lot of transparency you can't just crop with the pen tool. To crop this, I created the transparency for the fire by first converting the logo to black and white (In Photoshop, Layer > New adjustment Layer > Black and White) then messing with the red and yellow sliders until I got something resembling an alpha mask layer (I used the brush in a new layer to fill the gaps in the middle of the image), after finishing this I inverted the blacks and whites so you have a proper alpha mask. now you have the fire transparency done but the fire transparent edges are a mixture of red and white from the background, you have to remove the white somehow. I did it with the Clone Stamp Tool (in Darken mode, this is important), using it at the edges of the fire by sampling and cloning darker parts that are a few pixels inside from the edges (I did this having the alpha mask separated so you don't mess with the transparency). Now, the NBA Jam banner has a blue glow, I recreated that by creating a shape of the logo without the ball and moving it to the background, Then I used the brush to add a few lens flare lines coming from the N , then added both the shape and the brush strokes to a group folder and added the blue glow effect.
