CliveBarker
How many RAM do you have and do you have RAM cache enabled? Also what CPU do you have? Have you downloaded metadata and images for all your collection?
neogetter
i5 3570k 16gb ram , ram cache enabled. windows 7 i'm downloading now from emumovies premium directly from launchbox Edited September 1, 2016 by neogetter
CliveBarker
Honestly this is the first time i've seen such a large collection and I don't know how launchbox and big box react to this. I used to struggle when I had around 30,000 games so I curated my collection and reduced it and since then everything is smooth and fast. How many cache are you allocating? Have you tried disabling the cache?
neogetter
mmm no.. , now i'm downloading all meta data, after i finish (in the afternoon) , i will disable and let u know.. i have a suggestion, create more launchbox instances, like 5 folders with 5 launchbox and 5 launchbox.xml like: launchbox A-C launchbox D-H Launchbox I-P etc... CliveBarker
I will tag @Jason Carr I am sure he has an idea on how to deal with gigantic collections and performance issues like yours. Let us know if the situation improves
neogetter
here again...disabled cache, now is 10 time more slow another thing i notices in big box: the system video snap don't stop after you enter inside the menu of the system, i continue to listen the main video snap and it's overlaps the games video snaps
CliveBarker
Are you using VLC for video playback? Are you using a stable release or a beta version of LB? Have you tried allocating 4Gigs of RAM cache?
neogetter
good morning all used VLC i'm on last beta of LB allocated 4GB i think that 150 mb of xml file is too big
DOS76
switch VLC to WMP and see if you get any improvements.
Jason Carr
Wow, 100,000 games. That's a new high. Eventually I plan to add an option for a database like Sqlite, which would help solve that. But yeah, 100,000 games are going to have performance issues pretty much no matter what we do with the XML.
neogetter
good evening all lol...100.000 i think are all the games ever created from the first pc to the dreamcast... i did't added gamecube and ps2 , too bigs for now....i found a way to clear the entire tosecs without clones or duplicates now bigbox is very slow, it takes 5 minutes to open and it crashes sometimes lol... impossible to setup everything on launchbox without wait 30 second every move i do... lol a new heat for you jason thanks for the support! p.s. switching to WMP may fixed the problem of main video...but i need to confirm next days
