Sega CD games not working with retroarch

Recommended Posts

Hi, I downloaded "Sonic CD" in and .iso format, I tried running it with "genesis_plus_GX'' core, but it doesn't run, I downloaded the bios, And moved it to C:/Launchbox/Retroarch/system/bios_CD_U+J+E.bin, but still no hope, Any help is more than welcome.

Thank you so much.

Nasr A.

Are the bios in a folder? I believe they should be loose in the system folder. If you open retroarch and load the core then go to information/core information does it say if your bios are present or missing?

It claims it is missing, although I do have them. Perhaps I have the wrong bios files?!

The bios you have have a .md file extension and retroarch is looking for .bin, copy the ones you have and rename them to be .bin and test again.

Wow, how did I miss that?! Thank you so much the bios are now in present mode, but the game is still failing to load, everytime I try to load the I get "Failed to load" message. (I run the game directly from retroarch by the way).

I have the game as an iso file, maybe that's the reason?!

You should also make sure to check your bios md5 checksum to make sure they are correct. Just having them correctly named and RA detecting them when you check the core info doesn't ensure they will work properly.

You can use a couple of different free utilities to check them.

WinMD5 http://winmd5.com/ which you can run, then simply drag the bios file on to the program window and it will show you.

Hashtab http://implbits.com/products/hashtab/ this will just show the MD5 in a tab in the file properties window.

You can find the bios MD5 info for the Retroarch cores over on their documentation page https://buildbot.libretro.com/.docs/library/genesis_plus_gx/
