Aliens Extermination

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and gals

I have just started using lunchbox in my arcade cabinet so Im a noob I'm afraid!!!

I have the game Aliens extermination(originally a PC based arcade game) manually setup and working but the only way to exit is to press the windows key, right click on the program and close it.

Is there a way to setup the 'escape' key to exit the game?

It actually dosent use an emulator. The original Aliens Extermination arcade machine was windows XP based and some clever people managed to get it working on modern home PC's. The files I am running are a .bat file to start the Demulshooter lightgun program(which I have set to run before the game in the additional apps tab) and the Aliens exe file.

I just need a way to exit out of the game once I am done.

@Disco74 it is fine here. We are really not too strict on where a post belongs. I am going to close the one in Noobs and leave this one since it have responses already.

The solution is at the forums where you found the download to the game.

you will have two options get the new .exe or use the AHK.

Yes, for me too. GameEX is certainly a nice front end, but LB/BB so much and so clean and 2 interfaces depending on how you want to do it. The only feature I am waiting for that GE has that LB doesn't now that we are getting pause screens, is the display on the game info screen that lists all the other versions of that game you have on your machine on all the other platforms. Obviously, it has a database somewhere that knows the filenames for all the other versions of "space invaders" there are out there and if it finds them in your folder structure, it creates a list of links so you can just click and play one of those instead. Jason has mentioned that he would consider it for the future.

As a work around you can always have all the games showing in LaunchBox and then in the search bar type "space invaders" and that will do the same.... display the game on all platforms

That's a good tip for a workaround. I can always create playlists from that too. Including it on a game screen is nice because it is part of the "history" of the game and prompts you when you didn't know, "Oh, I have the Sega version of that, let me give it a try". Thanks again Rincewind.
