How do you even open the media? I searched for a game and it displays all the media it has, but clicking on one does nothing. If I download it then it is tiny. I am registered and signed in.

@Z3R0B4NG they look quite good, but not nearly as nice as the ones we are making in Photoshop.

I am using the skrapper tool (https://www.skraper.net/). Install it and create a free account. You can scrape with a single thread, so it will take a while.

I'm currently scraping my whole collection of Amstrad CPC (14 hours to go). You can link the scrapper with launchbox, but the naming of the downloaded media is not Launchbox compliant, so they will be in the correct directories, but with incorrect names (so not visible through launchbox without renaming).

Not quite correct.
Skrapper uses the ROM file names for the names of the media, LaunchBox is intelligent enough to connect that together (don't forget to refresh your cache in LaunchBox! mark all and press F5... then wait for the progress bar to appear).
But i strongly recommend to NOT tell Skrapper where your LaunchBox folder is, it WILL mess stuff up with your XML files.

By the way, make sure that you don't get over the 20.000 scrapes per day limit, Skrapper doesn't know about that variable and will effectively DDOS the Screenscraper Server by constantly sending requests and getting denied just as fast, it completely bugged out when that happened to me, it kept filling up my 16GB RAM and almost completely saturated my 100MBit download speed. ...it is still a Beta.

@Retrofrogg

Your box looks good, "Spectrum" though ...when&where can i download those? :D

The Screenscraper site won't let you open the media directly, you need to scrape it, for example with Skrapper.
If you do that, i strongly suggest to upload at least one picture to screenscraper.fr first so you get a second thread (it just took me one picture upload), that isn't all too hard and it will effectively double your scraping speed without paying a monthly patreon donation. (...or you just download the C64 pack i uploaded to mega, that is like only a few days old and will take a fraction of the download time)

Either way, the more cover art we can find, the more boxes we can make. I already posted a link to some full scans on page 1 i think. It was only 219 covers or so, this set here is over 2000.

With all you guys scraping that site, I can't even get a single page of of C64 titles to show up. 😭

Hey frogg! Once you are in the "Media" section of the game, and you find the desired image, just do a right-click over it, and select either "View image", or "Copy image location" and paste it in a different tab. The address will be something like this: https://www.screenscraper.fr/image.php?gameid=784&media=box-3D&hd=0&region=us&num=&version=&maxwidth=338&maxheight=190

Seems my previous work-around was fixed, so you would need to do something else in order to get a bigger size. Just delete the last part of the link with the height (&maxheight=190), and press enter.

You can play a little bit with the maxwidth if you want it bigger, although you might get to a point in where the image starts getting pixelated as it reached its resolution.

Final link should be something like: https://www.screenscraper.fr/image.php?gameid=784&media=box-3D&hd=0&region=us&num=&version=&maxwidth=338

@Kondorito thanks buddy! That method does seem to work - but I can only adjust the maxwidth a little bit (e.g. from 338 to 538). If I increase it to 638 then the image disappears. I wonder if this happens when you set the maxwidth to a value larger than the original image, could that be possible? Also, does changing the maxwidth just stretch the thumbnail, or give a higher resolution version of the underlying image? It seems to be the latter as far as I can tell. Either way, I'm going to try to use Skraper as there seems to be a lot of media on that site. i have paid them a tip to get more download threads, which should speed things up.

If it disappears then it means it reached its og resolution. It is not stretching the thumbnail as you can see more details to it when expanded.

I would use this method only if you are missing a couple of images from a platform; if you are trying to build up an entire set through this site, then I would use Skraper for sure (without providing the front end paths to it).

325x600 is the size that you get when scraping with Skraper, so i'd just stick with that number for consistency.

hmm... i can't seem to get a proper scrape of "B.a.t." ... i wonder if that has something to do with the dots in the name...

https://screenscraper.fr/gameinfos.php?gameid=36418&action=onglet&zone=gameinfosmedias

i grabbed the 3D box manually but i can't get the texture in a good size

//EDIT:

i went through the "Ultimate_Tape_Archive_V1.0" today and uploaded all RAW format inlays that came with it, in one convenient folder as another resource for you guys,
(i will also keep adding to the folders as i find more, as of right now i got (475 of these)) 100% all Tapes and except for one they have all original Spines

right click on the folder you want and select download as zip.

and as a reminder this site: https://gbatemp.net/threads/cover-collections-for-emulators-with-cover-support.324714/
has 342 (+9 alt) C64 covers, prepped for "cover flow" (some nintendo wii emulator thing?), point being they are all in the same dimensions and should also be easy to plug into a template.

I just stumbled over another goldmine

This guy has scanned his "150"-ish C64 Tapes.

https://retro-video-gaming.com/commodore-64-collection/

i grabbed them all and threw them into the RAW Covers folder on my Mega account, which is now up to 657 RAW full Covers
(i added a hand full to the textures and 3D box folders as well)

I have a .psd template for those double cassette size boxes, where you just drop the insert in and then you can output a 3D image, if that helps prevent you from any potential aneurysms! 😂

Some time ago I found this page: http://andydecarli.com/Video%20Games/Collection%20Pages/Collection%20Commodore%2064.html . This guy apparently has scanned his collection, the scans are high resolution but for the cassetes he scanned the front and the back but not the spine. Anyways could be useful for this project.
