Flycast CHD's not loading from Launchbox

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm trying to get flycast running through launchbox for Dreamcast games, but I'm really struggling with this at the moment and could use a few tips and pointers.

I'm using CHD's for the games and they work without a hitch in retroarch on their own. The collection of games has been imported into Launchbox successfully with all the cover art and details etc. I've associated the flycast core with the Dreamcast section, but when I try to run any of the games, nothing happens, it doesn't even load retroarch at all. I have all the correct bios's in place, so it must be something to do with either file structure, filename or a launch command that I need to include. I'm guessing creating a batch file, could be a last resort to solve this.

Can anyone help at all?

In LaunchBox > Tools > Manage Emulators > RetroArch > Associated Platforms tab, did you enter the Associated Platform name exactly as you have it in LaunchBox?

Are you sure your Dreamcast games are using RetroArch?

I thought I did, but after having a second look, I noticed the platform association was labelled as Dreamcast, where as the platform in LB was showing as Sega Dreamcast.

Once I changed it to the full name it started working. I can't believe I overlooked that.

Is that regular behavior? or a particular quirk when using CHD's? As I've never had that problem before (or perhaps I've just always had the correct labels until now...)

Thanks for your help - much appreciated!

Yes. If you dont have a matching associated platform, then Launchbox has no idea that the core you have chosen is for that system, as, as far as Launchbox is concerned they don't match so are therefore different systems. It has nothing to do with file type, you just cant call a platform something different and expect Launchbox to know they are the same.
