Not sure if this was reported or not.  But, on the latest beta when you do a rom import and select folder, as you go through the wizard, you get presented with the arcade/mame portion of the wizard even for non-arcade platforms.  It shows for about 5 seconds, then automatically closed and proceeds to the last step of the wizard/import process.  In my case I was doing an import of Nintendo Entertainment System roms and I got the Arcade portion everytime I went through.

Also happens when using the select files option.

Launchbox was softlocked just now in Beta 5 as I had let a game import and then media had finished downloading before I had closed the initial 'games were imported successfully' dialog box. I was able to close the media downloaded box but now I cannot close the games were imported successfully dialog.

When selecting the option to "Force Using Mame Metadata" when importing something like Sammy Atomiswave you get stuck in the "Ready to Import" screen and cannot use the Back button. If you click the Back button it will quickly flash a Mame screen and just stay in the Ready to Import screen. You have to cancel out if you need to go back and make a change. I was testing these option due to an issue someone was having in another thread when I noticed this.

Also, same as was mentioned by the two prior users, when progressing through the process you get a quick flash of the Mame wizard screen with the check boxes to exclude all the junk and make the playlists. It is real quick that it flashes.

Latest beta running Windows 10, no other programs running. While downloading images for a platform with many files, and attempting to move the Launchbox window to another part of the screen, the entire window freezes and becomes non-responsive, and stops updating. Unable to click and drag the window at all when this happens, must kill process to resume. Task manager indicates two CefSharp.BrowserSubProcess tasks running along with two Launchbox processes.

Since LaunchBox-11.12-beta-1, some system fanarts (or background images/videos) that are read from the theme folder have stopped working under eatkinola's main image and video handling plugin. Reinstalling LaunchBox-11.11 fixes the issue.

Really since the last stable version, if I leave my machine on Attract mode, it rarely will stay on for more than 3-5 hours.  I'll come back and it has closed out Big Box entirely.

Is there some verbose logging I could turn on to help get to the bottom of this to either contribute it as a bug or find out if there's something local (like bad video or image) causing the issue?

Beta 6 is out now with several stability fixes and performance improvements for imports and metadata/media downloads. Also resolved several issues with continuing EmuMovies downloads after restarting the app.

Since updating to latest version (Beta 6), when updating media it will continually play the last video sounds regardless of the system I move to.

Example, I update PS3 media and its showing and playing 007 Blood Stone video with sound, then when i go to another system, as it's downloading media for PS3, the video for 007 Blood Stone is still playing in the background as well as the video

of the new system I have just gone to, say SNES for example.

I cannot find anyway of stopping this (until media has finished downloading) and have never noticed it before on previous builds.

Update: Music would not stop until all media downloaded and Launchbox was completely closed down ( that was 1 annoying hour of hearing bond music on a loop)

Do you have any FLV videos? Several other people lately have noticed VLC having stability issues with FLV videos.

Unfortunately themes that really on the eatkinola plugins may not continue working going forward, especially the video plugin, as it was always prone to stability issues.

Hey all, beta 2 is out now with the following:

  •

  • New Feature: Media downloads are now saved and resumed when exiting and restarting LaunchBox

  •

is it possible to pause and resumed it by your own even when you not exiting Launchbox? I have started an import and download of media files. over 120.000 files and it takes several days. in the meantime I am not able to do most of the other processes like combining games (because it is the same game but different regions) or importing other games. even checking if some media data is missing in the "playlist" with missing videos or clear logos etc is not possible because one process is still ongoing.

(btw: I did download Famicom Games at this moment together with a batch of translated ones)

pause and resume while launchbox is still active would be awesome addition to it and would maybe end in batching those things to multiple download jobs 🙂

This has been mentioned several times in betas threads and will keep being reminded. If anything is a feature request 3 things are needed. Eventually I will just delete these posts without warning.

1. Do not post in the beta threads.

2. Use the feature Request button at the top of the forum under "Help & Support"

3. Open a new thread in the "Features" sub-forum and link the ticket from the Feature Request site.

Beta threads are going to be strictly kept to providing the team feedback on beta features that are working or not. Anything else needs to be posted elsewhere.

Thanks for your reminder about my point on a new feature in the beta which is not fully satisfying or say it better it’s more annoying. So help and support for not implemented functionalities (because it is beta) sounds strange.

So where can I give feedback and ideas to beta functionalities bests if not this thread?

BTW: the help and support is something like screaming into the wind. Not get its attention not get the feedback and many things are sleeped.

but I will not strata fight and understood what you mean - nevertheless the process lags.

If you are requesting a new feature, requesting updating an existing feature, or requesting an update to a beta feature  the "Request a Feature" is best. These are all by definition a "feature request".

If it is about the new beta features and if it fixed a prior issue, has broken something previously working, or the feature is not working as intended that is what the beta threads are for.

I know your posts asked if something was possible which is why I did not delete. However, I did feel it was worth a reminder post. Not solely at you, but for us all.

The goal is to keep the two devs from having to weed through all unnecessary posts and keep data only related to proper feedback so they can focus on getting betas to a full release state.

That's because users do not usually do what is recommended. There are thousands of tickets there and just 2 devs with only 24 hours in a day. If users would do as I mentioned there is a better chance we can track feature requests and better gauge the interest. Posting them here in the beta they get lost worse than they would on our bitbucket.

@SqHd Thanks for the report, we were able to track down the cause, but are still working out the best way to correct.

@Chris Kant I could see something like that being useful moving forward, and before it was FAR more difficult to implement, now that we have the beta feature built something like that is far more doable since we have a lot of the pre-requisites now built. It isn't currently planned to implement that this release, but moving forward I would like to make that download process less disruptive. If you would, could you submit a ticket for us detailing what exact processes you are running into that are getting blocked by the image queue? It would be nice to have to keep track of what processes are being affected and give us a place to show progress to users if we don't get them all updated at once.
