@leech_hunter I think I wrote something that will do it - it is running on my local machine. Before I upload it and announce it, can you help me test it? Can you send me (via message or here) your Arcade.xml (In the Launchbox/Data/Platforms folder) This will help me test it.

So far it gets almost everything on mine (working on 720 degrees), but I don't have too many mame games.

    Thanks

I just sent you the Arcade.xml file in a message.  Thanks!  Let me know what I should do next.

  2. I used CPWizard to create the images for the control panel such as P1B1 is "Kick", etc.

That program saves the png files(which I can convert to jpg) as the MAME file name.  Any way to call up the images  with the MAME file name vs the typical Launchbox naming convention?

Example: tmht22pe vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles_ Turtles in Time

  3. delete all the periods under Edit > Options > MAME Filters > Description Excludes.

My CPWizard is version 2.67 and by default that field looked like, ". . . . . . . . . ." By leaving it blank, everything showed up. I also had dynamic loading checked so it could refresh the list.

To be perfectly honest it is impossible for us to say if your setup would be 100% portable without some reconfiguring on the other end. In theory it could be but it all depends on your emulators and paths and how it is all setup and if there are hard paths or relative paths for the emulators and Rocket Launcher.

Aaah... Yes.  I suppose the file paths would be different on the new computer it gets copied over to...  So when Mame goes looking for it's rompath on my desktop folder... it wont know where the heck that is!

  5. So I've spent quite a bit of time on setting up MAME, Launchbox, and Rocketlauncher.  My brother in law has taken quite a bit of an interest.  I have MAME, Rocketlauncher, and Launchbox all set up in a folder on my desktop labeled "Arcade".

I'm thinking about duplicating my setup for him for a little gift.  Can I simply copy my "Arcade" folder and give it to him?  Will it work for him to just copy the folder onto his computer and run Launchbox(which calls to Rocketlauncher for bezels and opens MAME)?  I don't recall any of the programs going through an installation where it puts files outside of this "Arcade" folder.

    Thanks,

There is no easy way to do this and simply deleting files that are not imported will cause more problems because it will delete bios files such as the neogeo.zip and qsound.zip.

If you want a clean set your best bet is to download a Non-Merged set and hand pick the games you want. The Non-Merged set is "one file one game" so there are no dependencies at all.

My Lauchbox journey started about a year ago.  Same story as today, I tried importing a MAME split rom set into Lauchbox and there used to the a box you could check that said something like....

[] Make a copy of the imported rom and put copy in Lauchbox Roms folder

[] Move imported rom into Lauchbox Roms folder

[]  Keep rom in existing location

I tried the first or second option(cant remember) but was figuring out it didn't move the bios files either.  It was my first time with anything MAME so I was in a world of confusion.

Then I found out about non-merged sets and decided to have a go with that but the option to "move imported rom into Lauchbox Roms folder" is now not an option!  If I used that option with the non-merged set, I could essentially have Lauchbox bring 120gigs of roms down to 15-20(i'm guessing).   I'd just delete the ones that didn't get moved and move on with my life.

    THanks,

  7. I downloaded a split set of the most current MAME roms and imported to Launchbox.

Is there a way to delete all the unused files?  I'd like to get rid of some of the files to free up space on my already maxed out HDD.

I'm a premium Launchbox user if that matters.

    Thanks,
