The Refried theme is not set up that way...in order to do what you are asking,it requires a rewrite of the Platform view xaml. You can feel free to browse through the default Refried menu artwork..it's in the Images folder inside the theme...and you can replace them with the ones you want to use...but,you will still need to alter the location and size of the video,as well as remove alot of stuff you don't want from it or it will still show. This will also only change the default artwork,so it will be the same across the whole theme for all platforms. If you want different art for each system, while it is possible, that's just not possible with this theme. I did mess around with different images for each system in the platform view, but,it was not the direction I wanted to go in the end with the theme,so I abandoned the idea and scratched the code.

    OK no problem.

No you can't. You have 2 options here:

    1. You can have a static image with no video at all. just place the image in the video platforms folder and delete the video for that platform.

    2. If you want a video playing inside the tv frame, you need to create a video of the whole thing. You can use Adobe Premier and import your static image and then import the video and place it inside the frame. then save the video of the whole thing.

On the Nostalgia theme it has the static images for each system and separate videos play in the TV frames so I'm guessing it can be done some how.

  3. Just started using Big Box after using Hyperspin and love the themes people have made here.  I have an idea for a theme but have no clue how to make one.  I've watched tutorials and they make no sense to me and very confusing.  The idea for the theme I want to make is when you scroll through the different consoles and systems you would see a different static image for each system as the background (uploaded a few examples) with a video playing in the box frame of the image.  I've tried many different things like putting the image in different places and looking at themes in Visual Studio and I'm completely baffled how to do it.  Hope this makes sense.

You can run any main theme you want really...as long as you have the Unified Refried default theme in your theme folder for the addons to reference..the game info screen will take on the properties of the main theme though

I mean keep the add-ons but have these as the main platforms with a video playing in the boxframe.  I've tried putting the image in different places on different themes and still get a video playing the fullscreen and no image if that makes sense.

Check that you unzipped them correctly, there should be files and folders inside them, if you have another folder with the same name inside them that is wrong.

Have checked them and all are unzipped correctly.  Would it be a setting in big box that I haven't changed?  I made sure it was set to  "Remember seperate view for each platform".

You might want to checkout the Unified series of themes; they have a look similar to that picture you posted. There are multiple versions of the Unified theme in the downloads section.

I've checked that theme out and it uses videos for the main screens which is a pain to get each one.  I like how yours uses static image files.

  7. Thanks for the update.  I love how each platform shows the system.    I would love to learn to make themes but it looks way to complicated.  I was thinking of something like this as I have artwork for a ton of different backgrounds for different systems but as I said I wouldn't know where to start.

The artwork does not need to be in a special place. You might be using the Text Details with Details view, which does not show box art or clear logos. Other views in this theme do show these images, e.g., the clear logo wheel view will fade to these images once you've made a platform or game selection. Bigbox themes can contain multiple platform and game views. To change the view, go to Bigbox settings: Sysmenu -> Options -> Views --> change value for Games List View and Platforms list view. Alternately, you can map a keyboard key to the "Switch View" function:

Sysmenu -> Options -> Keyboard Mappings -> Switch View (choose key for mapping)

I've mapped the spacebar to this function, so pressing the spacebar will cycle through platform and game views.

P.s. Please note some views are not working with the current version of LaunchBox; I'm working on a fix for those and will hopefully post in a week or two.

P.p.s. If you're still having trouble with the theme, posting an image of what you're seeing might allow me to provide more help.

    Got it working.  Thank you.
