  1. Well, they say there are no dumb questions, but I feel awfully dumb at the moment...  Running LaunchBox, Mame, & LEDBlinky.  I have downloaded the colors.ini file but have no clue where the file is supposed to go?  LEDBlinky folder, MAME folder, MAME INI folder?  Not sure why I can't figure this out.   Maybe it's just a Monday thing...

  2. My current LB PC is nothing special and probably should be updated.

I am running an 80TB setup utilizing a QNap TS-653D.  It is a utilizing RAID 50.  My house is CAT 6 wired and running Enterprise grade WiFi (Ruckus) There is definitely a little laggy when loading the "newer" games, but I mostly play 80s MAME arcade style games.  I have also increased the memory to 32mb (this is an unsupported configuration)

The NAS serves as a game server for LB, movie server utilizing TWonkey, and general file storage.  This is all backed up/Sync'd to my Google Drive.  The NAS can be accessed like any other cloud storage system.

I would be interested in trying a higher end QNap running a VM over QVM with a USB hub and seeing if I could get LB running within it.

  3. Running MAME 265 with correct MAME Roms for this version.  Latest LB.

One of the games I enjoy playing is Mr. Do!  Game has been playing without any issues.  The other day I fired it up, pressed the coin button for a credit, pressed the player start button.  Game starts but just as it starts allowing for input, it plays the ending music as if the level has completed and goes to lvl 2.  This just repeats without allowing me to actually play.  Funny to have completed 10 levels with a score of zero ...lol   Anyways, anyone have an idea of why or what happened?  This is not happening with any of the other games that I know of.  I mostly play 45ish games which are all viewed in my favorites list.

  4. The ability to update platforms is a huge help and I just updated my MAME from .263 to .264  After the update I noticed that I now have a new folder "MAME 0.264" (my default folder was just "MAME"). Upon inspection I noticed a discrepancy in the total file count.  Quickly poking around I see I have files in my "MAME/artwork" folder but nothing in the newly created "MAME 0.264/artwork" folder.  As this and other folders are typically blank maybe make an option to copy existing data/folders to the new install or have an option to allow you to select the install folder so we can opt to re-use a prior one or name one specifically (maybe both options).

  5. Like many others before me, I am attempting to setup LEDBlinky to work with LB.  After some trial and error, I figured out that LEDBlinky need to be installed outside on the plugins folder (mine is LanchBox/LEDBLinky)  If I put it in the plugins folder LB would fail to start with an error message (bass.dll error of some sort.  I do not remember it exactly).  Once I did this after I exit LaunchBox I got some error messages noting that I needed to have controls.ini and colors.ini in the LanchBox/Plugins/LEDBlinky folder.  D/L copies from LEDBlinky website.  That was easy...  Now I have 1 error that I cannot figure out how to resolve.  When I exit LB I get the error:  Unable to set SAPI parameters.  OLE error 80045039  I searched high and low and have not seen any references to this one.  Any suggestions of a link to a resolution?

  6. I built a multi-cade which originally ran on a Raspberry PI3B+ running Emulation Station (400gb image).  Really never had any issues with it other than needing more time to handle command line stuff due to it being based on Linux and some unfamiliarity.  Finally decided to pull the plug and move my LaunchBox PC into it.  My question is it possible to move the PI's games over to the LaunchBox system?  Hoping it is and just as simple as FTP/SSH data transfer between the two.

  7. I followed ETA Primes videos on importing MAME and Atari 2600 files.  Everything worked and the data downloaded accordingly.  However all I have is "Al 5139l", "good 3819", "imperfect 1212", and "preliminary"  I do not have any platforms listed as described in the video.  Running latest builds of everything.  What did I miss???

:::EDIT:::  figured it out. Saw a few screen captures and did not realize I needed to change the first drop down to "Platform List"  I am officially a n00b  lol

  8. I first started with an Arcade 1up system, quickly moved to a "large" Rasberry PI system (still have) and then finally to a PC based setup.  With power and noise, I am now contemplating a new build based on an Intel Compute Stick CS525.  Any thoughts?  Figured this would be interesting if anything...

  9. Ok, I admit I am an "completionist" and working on the MAME collection first.  Given that, what size drive would you think I need to house all the ROMS, and CHD files just for the MAME side of things?  I can easily see this is going to spiral out of control and trying to just allocate some space on my NAS dedicated to just this project...
