EDIT - Adding a TLDR; when trying to download only manuals for my game collection, it queues up FAR more downloads than it should! Please help!
Hey everyone, I'm almost done setting up LB on my newish laptop. It worked great on my last one. However I'm having one weird specific issue I never had before. I'll try to be concise but I also don't want to leave out any details that might be important. And for reference, I'm using version 13.14 (I haven't renewed my premium license yet but I will, lol).
Here goes: When browsing through my list of games I checked a random NES game and tried to go to the manual, but found there was none for it. I checked another NES game, again no manual. I thought this was strange because I was sure I'd checked the "download PDF manuals" option when I imported my ROM collections. Anyway, I decide no big deal, I'll just download all the manuals now. Since I don't have game music downloaded because I don't normally use it (video snaps are using the audio instead), I said why not and decided to download music too. So, I ran the download media wizard for all games, unchecked everything in GamesDB and in EmuMovies EXCEPT for manuals and music in the latter. Checked the option to update but not replace metadata/media, as I normally do. Ok great, started it running.
It wasn't long before I realized that pretty much all my games had downloadable music associated with them, and that they would take up way more disc space than I thought. So I cancelled that process, manually deleted most of the music from LB directory, then started the process again checking only the box for manuals. Here's where it gets weird - when LB starts downloading the manuals, the progress bar tells me it's working on file number X out of over 18,000. The problem with that, is that I've only got around 13,000 games total registered in Launchbox. I only selected to download manuals and nothing else, so even if every single one of my games had a manual available to download, that's still over 5,000 more than there should be... Made no sense, but I didn't want to bother with getting to the bottom of it, so I let it download for a bit. I ended the process after it had downloaded a bit over 2,000 files. Still confused, I tried starting the process yet again. This time, once it starts downloading, it tells me there are over 21,000 files to download! I let it continue again for a bit but ended the process again as I was swiftly filling up my HDD space.
Frustrated, I decided to take a different approach. I manually deleted all downloaded manuals just to start fresh, then tried going by a single platform. I went into SNES and CTRL+A to select all SNES games, then ran the media downloader for selected games rather than all games. Well, imagine my shock when the download bar informed me that it was, again, queuing up over twenty thousand files to download, despite the fact that my SNES collection only numbers 1,025 games.
Please help me with this, guys 🥲 I'm pretty sure my HDD has enough space to hold all the manuals, but I can't even find out because of how wonky the downloader is being with the absurdly high quantities of files. Thanks in advance for any insight you guys are able to give me!
