  1. Will the 3D box be turned off in 13.1? Or at least the flip function and rotation can be deactivated?

Don't want the box to be accidentally rotated by joystick. Or what does those changelog notes mean?

  2. Hi there,

did anyone notice that the title "es" for dreamcast gets the artwork for "102 Dalmatians" in Launchbox?

I deleted everything and made a clean new import again. Same result!

It seems like "es" is not in the database or didn't get found because it has only two letters and is simply linked to the first title of the database.

    Edit:
Okay, looks like I'm the only one with the problem or just nobody cares / or plays japanese Dreamcast titles.
Either way I'm here at the wrong address ... ?

I did some testing recently and there is a bug with the importer missing games and it appears to be somehow related to the platform naming. I also told Jason about it and he said he was going to look into it.

Thanks for the info. It looks like launchbox ignores games from multiple plattforms. So it's no SNES-only-problem.

    Hope it get fixed soon.

I'd be interested in finding out why this is happening as well.  I've got over two thousand SNES roms and only 172 are imported.  Lots of well-known commercial releases simply aren't coming through to the database.

Edit: I've been playing around with the import features. What I've done is imported the files, instead of importing the folder.  Click the first file on the list, scroll to the bottom and while holding shift, click the last file. Not sure what causes importing via folder to miss so many games, but it seems that being a bit more direct with the instruction did the trick for those SNES games, which now shows up as a few over eight hundred.

One year later, there are still problems with many sets. Let's take the SNES example. I try to import the folder of a well known pack of 777 SNES games ? ...Launchbox imports only 700 (but the readme file ?).

Next I marked all titles in the folder and import again >> 1 new game imported. I don't know the name of the game because Launchbox did not tell me. It's not very transparent at this point. I can't even say exactly what games are missing because the titles are not 100% in order, so it would take forever to check all games. But 2 of the missing SNES games are "B.O.B." and "Jelly Boy".

For me, the trasparency and reliability of a frontend is much more important than it's looks. (Better don't start talking about the speed of bigbox ?)

So I really don't understand why the forum is not full about that. If I import to ANY other frontend (f.e. AttractMode), all 777 titles are there. Same with any other set.

Is there a trick I am missing? I did not find a solution in this forum. Please help!

  5. I had arround 43k games and bigbox startet after the 20+seconds intro. Now there are arround 49k games and it tooks 70-75 seconds to start!!!

I only filled up some sets, so that could not be the problem BUT (like bojo5150) I added TeknoParrot (Lindbergh, Namco ES3, Taito Type X, Sega RingWide/RingEdge).

After that the launchtime is very extreme.

  6. Windows Media Player:

Here's another log file with the same settings, but Windows Media Player. As mentioned before, the codecs are installed and the videos are watchable outside bigbox with WMP.

Sometimes they work inside bigbox too and then (f.e. after switching wheels) the videos won't play anymore. Very strange!!!

    - Windows 10 - 1806, updated to 1809 on the second bigbox test day (same result)

    - VLC > upgraded to version 3.0.7.1  •  Windows 64bit, after the first problems (but same result)

    - atm back to K-Lite Codec Pack 15.0.0 (tried different versions and codec packs already)

    - My last idea is to spend the PC a fresh Windows 10 installation or (if the problem still exists) just use another frontend ?

  7. Most of the themes I used were downloaded from the theme manager. I also tried the repair function. Then I tried the exact same themes, settings, etc. on the Ryzen and it worked without any big problems.

So I am sure the problem is not a single theme. I tested 3 different graphic cards too (one from the working Ryzen-PC).

I activated debugging and hope this helps a bit more. Here is the file.

  8. Sorry, my fault.... it used the GPU too. I just did not mention that bigbox was already closed the first time I look at it because I was too shocked about the 90% CPU load. ?

Tested the Ryzen now..... and it works fine!!! << [Have copied the same data to the Ryzen, so that it is comparable]

The "old" i7 works great at start but after a short time I have to kill the process because it hangs up. (i7-2600k@3.4GHz/4.2GHz/5GHz, 16GB RAM, tested graphic cards: 760, 960, 1060)

Is that system already too old for Bigbox??? AttractMode, EmulationStation, etc. are all working without any problems. With many emulators the old i7 performs better than the new Ryzen so there is no reason for me to change anything.

I could test bigbox on my i3-9100F@4.2GHz (in my Arcade Cabinet). But it works with an Arcade-VGA from Ultimarc, so I guess that might be a problem for bigbox too. On the other hand - I don't want bigbox running on my cabinet, sorry ?

Is there any chance that this problem get fixed? The system is still good enough and I can play the same multiple videos in VLC, but if bigbox plays the same videos the CPU is freaking out?!?!? So it looks like a bigbox problem to me.

  9. Hi there,

too bad starting with negative experiences as a new BigBox-User, but it is shocking that the VLC problem still exists. I was about to ask for a refund until I read this. I will give it one more try this weekend and then decide if I continue to use bigbox.

I have not even played a single game with BigBox. ?

It's enough to switch between the setting (f.e. between the wheels) and go back to watch the result. First time the CPU usage climbs over 20+%. After a view times I have to kill the bigbox process with the task manager. Obviously bigbox has massive problems with the background videos, because if another video in the front covers them the lags will be less.

The first impression of Bigbox was unfortunately very negative by this experience, but I hope that improves this weekend. ?

I have new hope after knowing the solution ?
