I have a GPD XD that I got a looong time ago, its running launchbox without issue, not big box but launchbox.
I don't remember exactly what I did to move it all over but it was very simple once everything was configured on my PC and LB was installed on the GPD XD. If I could install LaunchBox on the RG351M somehow I know the transfer will be easy and everything will already be setup from all the time I put into setting it up on the PC transfers.
Now I just bought this RG351M are you saying this is less powerful than the old GPD, it may not be much more powerful but I would imagine the RG351M wins. I don't intend to run PSP games more retro small space requirements etc.
So I have no options or no other options that are appealing? If its running linux, why can't I get into linux then I should be able to install LaunchBox via the below method.
I will start searching for that method see what I can find.
Does anyone recommend a retro launchbox hand held then?

So I am a tech but I am not so strong with the tablet / phone / handheld universe. I just bought a RG351M and I already bought the pro version of LaunchBox a couple years ago and have it running on multiple PC's. I do have it on 1 android device but that device was already running standard Android so I could install the LaunchBox APK on top of that and transfer my files easy enough.
This RG351M comes with a customer kernel OS of some form. I can't seem to back out of the customer kernel to get it to install APK files or get to a droid home page etc. So I went to try and replace it.
I downloaded Android 10 (Q) .zip. I used etcher to install the .zip. Etecher did pop one error saying it likely wasn't bootable no table. The RG351M sees the microSD but will not boot from it.
So what is the best method to install Launchbox on a RG351M?
Please Advise

You know I am so sorry, I never followed up and posted the completed work. I had a lot of help and per my post count clearly some of it was from here :). I put a bow on this project almost a year ago now, I have enjoyed it. So much so that the HD is failing . So I am doing maintenance, cloning the drive. I love LB / BB and all the customer work done on this, well I will just let the video do the talking. Cheers

To revive a dead thread, GOG 2.0 Client has caught my eye just recently. The real kicker Is its not just gonna let you combine your game libraries for PC in one place via API's. But it will combine all the different messengers like Trillian did to all the messenger clients back in the day like ICQ MSN YAHOO AOL ETC, One ring to rule them all.
I didn't pay full price for big box for its game library / organization or its achievements etc. I bought it because it has the best front end for an all encompassing arcade pedestal. IE no keyboard navigation technically, thus you guys have nothing to worry about imho.
However I want to see all my emulation titles show up in GOG I would love for my GOG to just piggy back off my launchbox / big box and even have the option to just click "Launch Arcade" from GOG and drop into the big box front end.
Anyhow its a lame duck they haven't finished the messenger bit still its a coming soon and they won't comment. I would assume they have to realize how important it is to pull that piece off or they have nothing really.
If they pull off the messenger bit part though... If I was your team.... I would talk about partnering with them and let your group handle the emulation piece as you already have it all done, a little value line up and your off to the races. Perhaps even get a "Launch Arcade" Feature included too.
Anyhow Cheers

Yupper the manual helps
mame.ini
offscreen_reload 1
was needed
Also when configuring I have to point the gun at the screen when I pull the trigger
So many gotchas
Think I got this finally figured out though. Maybe lol
Thanks for all your help man!

I am not following you, we made so many changes which one are you saying to revert? I was referencing the static ID mycontrolers file in the ctrlr in how they line up.
I have the aimtrak docs been reviewing them will look at it again.
-
Okay NVM I think the ID's are stable, whats sorta odd is we named our gun1 mousecode6 so it shows up as gun6 when binding. Thus none of the default binds will work which is okay as long as mame will pick up the movement to remap and it does. So yay but know I have yet another issue and its odd.
In light gun games in MAME I have confirmed that the action to shoot is button 1 it is mapped to a arcade stick button if I point the gun on the screen and push the arcade stick button it fires. If I unmap the button it stops firing. So I know I have the correct button / config to map. I Map it to the trigger on the lightgun. MAME does recognize and pickup the lightgun trigger and maps it to gun6 button 1. However it will not fire, map the same item back to the arcade stick fires np.
It picks up the device lets me remap to it but won't use on activation. Why am I having so many issues.
-
So doing this:
mouse 1
joystick 1
lightgun 1Seems to let MAME pick it up now in the config controls Idunno that I am all said and done though I gotta go will work on it hoepfully in the morning. I rebooted and gun 1 became gun 2 which shouldn't happen with the hard coded ID's so I am confused.
Anyhow progress I think this puts me over the top in some way, will need to work on it tomm and hopefully finish it up.
Thank You will let you know how it goes

sorry busy next 45 mins or so will update after

I haven't touched the CFG folder will have to explain further what you mean and why.

spinners are pretty slow I spin as fast as I can. Even still the guns are not slow at all so doesn't explain that. Here is my mam.ini

both lightguns and both spinners move the mouse in windows.
Unplugging half, whole or even 3/4 and just leaving 1 input left IE no combination of USB has any change in MAME settings controls.
I have already been messing with that but I have tested again still no joy its something else.
-
I can set any controls to the following
the 4 arcade sticks and any of the push buttons pick up
the 2 trackballs
the single USB Mouse
The Single USB Keyboard
What I cannot set any controls too but will move the mouse on the screen
2 Lightguns
2 Spinners just to add details you are correct the combined breadboard makes the two spinners like an etch of sketch 1 spinner is Y 1 Spinner is X
-
Here is the parts list I used to build this unit, donno if it helps but never know.
-
Negative thats not the issue
-
YES I am sure on the MAME.ini file
There is also lightgun provider I tried that with raw input that didn't work.
This just hit me that all the devices that are working in windows but not mame are sharing a USB controller. By this I mean..
The spinners are on a board together with a single USB Out
The lightguns are on a USB hub as I am out of USB space on this PC to make all this fit.
I am going to test unplugging half both of them see if this works

Hey Thanks for your Help!

No Change

Okay with what you said I am going to delete all my notes to myself and test again brb
-
Same problem with controls not mapping seems to be working with trackballs and arcade sticks - but same as before for spinners and lightguns.
I can hit tab - go into a player and select - dial/gun/paddle Y or X and move the mouse on the screen with that physical item IE the spinner or lightgun but it will not pick it up in mame and map it.
If I instead move a trackball or an arcade stick it picks it up and maps it NP.
-
Okay so I would think a // would mean ignore anything after that.. removing the & allows MAME to boot.
Testing to see if I came map controls now.
-
good catch it is now fixed no change on the error from mame saying it can't load my controller file
In the video I link the guy mentioned some site that could auto generate a controller file but I can't seem to locate it, he says it creates really long ID's that were not needed.
But hey if it works IDC.

Well okay then. Thanks for the feedback.
Are there any handheld devices anyone recommends that run Launch box? That are not a million dollars either.
