I don't think it's a Big Box issue, I think that "turning off all controllers" "fixes it", because the controllers causing issues, aren't your primary controller.
So, I've found ONE possible issue for this.
1) Duplicate the analog map in the Ultramap app, and set the ENTIRE thing to analog (So there is NO deadzone).
2) Set all your controllers to this.
3) Take a look at the Joystick section.
You'll see my #2, was off center. (And then if I ROTATED my joystick, it would move in and out of centre).
Talking with Andy (UltraStik creator), he thought I might need a new magnet, however, I noticed it wasn't sitting perfectly. I was able to remove the circuit board, remove the magnet, and place it back in evenly. That joystick now sits centred.
(That stick would also move left _REALLY_easily... so it would get triggered to the left, and going into the jump to letter system.)

Of course, make sure that your sticks weren't moved when powering on, otherwise that will mess up calibration.
