  1. Hi, first of thanks for all your hard work, Mega Drive is what I grew up with, Its nice to see the old covers that bring back memories.

Second I'm new to emulation and a a little bit noob. To use this art work I have assumed I need the ROM set to be named exactily the same.

I have an updated "2020 no-intro set". I have imported that set into launchbox and selected to not download any artwork. once it was imported I moved your artwork into the 3d-Boxes folder.

I'm obviously doing something wrong as a lot of my titles don't have any art work.

Is this because alot of the roms in my collection might be from different regions?

If so what is the best way to get my set of roms matching your images?

I am using Xbox controllers for my RetroArch console emulation. I set up BigBox to bring up its Pause screen when I click the Guide button (middle Xbox button).  With RetroArch cores, when I close the BigBox Pause screen, I am greeted with a second pause screen... that is, the RetroArch pause menu. I then have to scroll down to quit out of it, where it then brings me back to the BigBox game menu.

I do not have this issue with MAME. I can open BigBox, start a MAME game, bring up the BigBox Pause menu, and close the pause menu without issues. It takes me back to the game after closing the BigBox pause screen. It works as intended.

So, I assume this is some hard coding in RetroArch when it comes to the Xbox Guide button. RetroArch is set up so "P" keyboard pauses games, so that is why I was thinking it is caused by some hard coded function in RetroArch that is not easily changed. Nowhere can I find a setting showing that I have the Guide button set to pause in RetroArch. Do any of you have this issue?

    Thanks

    Another way:

    Go into Retroarch/autoconfig/xinput/xinput_controller_user_1.cfg

and change the value of  input_menu_toggle_btn = "10" to "99"

this will set the menu button in Retroarch to a non existent button.

  3. I have had a look at your guide and its great well written and easy to follow, I will be following it.

Out of curiosity, what does the mame.ini file do? Is it only required if roms are located outside the mame rom folder?

You should do it like I describe in my guide I linked. I even provided a batch file to help do it for you.

Ohhh, Sorry I didn't realise that was a link, Thanks for that, I will follow your guide. ?

  5. Wow that was a fast reply Thanks so much Lordmonkus  Neil and Retro

What you said aligns with what I'm thinking, Using standard Mame 0.214 with 0.214 rom set.

Do I have to create the ini file?  I have been watching the official YT video Installing via Launchbox "Full Set Importer" which I'm likely to follow, it doesn't mention the ini file, so I'm a little bit confused on that.

  6. Hey all. I'm totally new to Launch box. I have been using it a week and its totally awesome and I love it.

I have set up my console systems which are working great. Im now looking at getting started setting up the Arcade systems (Mame).

To save my self headaches down the track I though I should quickly check here to make sure I'm on the right path. I'm looking into using a Mame 0.214 Split Rom Set. with Mame 0.214, basically I was going to follow this official video YouTube, Unbroken Software LLC but using 0.214 Roms and Mame version

My main questions before I start installing:

    1. Should I look at other options and use Mameui64?
    2. If I use Mameui64 the latest version is 0.188 does that mean I have to have a 0.188 rom set?
    3. Can the 0.214 split rom set be used with Mame 0.217 (Current Latest Version)?
    4.  Can I use 0.214 split rom set with Mameui64 0.188?

Thanks for any advice any direction would be much apreciated.
