I want to use 2 ps3 controllers on all my emulators can retroarch allow that?

Howdy all, Have just made an emulation pc for my lounge room and have just downloaded launchbox. I'm just wondering do I have to use retroarch or something similar to handle all my emulators for launchbox or can I just have all the emulators be stand alone and run through launchbox? Cheers for your time!
