You can create pretty intricate menu set ups by using the Platform Category view instead of Platforms. This then lets you create menus several layers deep like you are describing. To do what you're referring to your top layer would be 3 categories, then under them would be playlists for the platform in question that also supports that setup. You'd hide platforms from that view entirely (just make sure they don't have any parents assigned).

Thank you!  That should get me in the right direction. Now just to fumble my way through it.

  2. I have made a arcade cabinet that has a rotatable control panel so I have 3 accessible panels.  One panel has a 2 plater setup and a 4-way joy, other panel is trackball, spinner, tron joystick, and 3rd panel is a star war yoke.  Is there a way to create a menu that the first option is to select  which control panel then it brings up the normal systems list for games that use that panel?  So basically adding 1 additional layer of menu before getting to a "normal" menu?

You can see the cabinet here

  3. Ugghhh, nevermind I found the issue after seeing your post.  When I imported the games I sent it to the directory where the games sub-folders are located.  I guess I have to manually tell Launchbox to use the GDI and not the folder where all the files and the GDI are located.  I had to read about 5 other similar posts before I finally understood what was needed.

  4. I have marked a bunch of my MAME roms as favorites, added them to a playlist called Arcade Favorites.  The playlist shows up with the emulators as desired, but has no associated artwork.  I want to hide the original Arcade emulator menu and only show the favorites for Big Box.  How do I add the Arcade artwork to the favorited playlist I made?

I tried to add some images, by right clicking the playlist, selected edit and pops up the window where you can add images.  I added the same images/artwork in the Launchbox Emulators folder for Arcade in big box.  How do I edit/add artwork to show up in the menus?

  5. So I forgot to properly filter out a bunch of games and want to re-import the ROMS but with a  properly filtered and playlisted option (I didnt use the Mame importer and just used the normal import ROMS option).   I am assuming the only way to filter out what I have imported so far is to do it manually or just start over.

Can I re-import without losing the metadata downloads, or will it spend the 12-18+ hours again downloading?

Any tips before I do something dumb?
